Restore to stock - Atrix 4G General

Can anyone direct me to a guide to return the Atrix to stock without original firmware and no root. I have a problem with my fine and I need to have it replaced by AT&T, but want to have it back to normal before I return it. I know I seen the guide before, but I just cant find it.
Im currently running version 1.57 and it has sideload enabled from when I rooted before updating. Im not sure if that matters. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

i think you need to follow this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991072
just install 1.2.6 "original" file, then get the 1.5.7 update from motorola (from the phone) and thats it.

use the search function next time.
also they don't look to see if its rooted. just tell them you have an issue with call quality and they'll just exchange it.

Thanks for the responses. For some reason I was having a problem with XDA for a few hours yesterday (still am actually) and the search function will not work. No matter what I put in it says no results are available. Still trying to figure out why its happening.
Thanks for the link saar73, I was actually looking at that post but wasnt sure if thats what I should do because I wasnt familiar with flashing a SBF. Ive never heard of stock being called a SBF file. I try that right now. Thanks again.

[Q] Returning a Liquid E to stock

Hey guys,
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but I've searched around without any luck. Looks like I didn't do a nandroid backup of my stock ROM with Rogers, and now I'm experiencing the hardware problem with the primary speaker not working. Tried reflashing the current ROM on the phone without any luck, and now Rogers is replacing it, but I'd rather not dish out more money when the see it's been changed.
Anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a stock rom image from a nandroid backup they did with rogers?
Everything you need is in post #11 of this MoDaCo thread- http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liquid-liquid-modaco-com/317403/acer-lquid-e-rom-upgrade/
Best of luck in getting your device replaced.
That's awesome. Thanks for the link. I'll try this out later tonight.
Ok...so I have been reading and have been quite disappointed...As most of you are aware Rogers and Fido now have the new 2.2 OS out for the Acer liquid e however I am running a leaked version with Malez...and from what I can tell acer did something and because of what I did and from what I can tell I will now not be able to update to the stock rom. From what I can tell it somehow recognizes that the phone is rooted and because of that it cannot be updated..Will this work around help with this problem?

Go to Modaco and search for "fido rogers any phone", something like that.
I did however for some reason I keep getting an error when flashing with the acer tool...I just gave up after a while..tried for over 2 days...I am not sure if it is my computer or some kind of issue with the software

You did what? If you went to Modaco and got the rom by alan009 then you need to flash it with Malez, not acer tools. Acer tools is only meant to flash .bin files. Plus if you read that thread there are a ton of people doing it and asking questions, so no need to get stuck.
Good Luck.
Oh...maybe I did get the info from that post..I was using a set of instructions that I downloaded...It was how to put back your acer to stock rogers rom...It had all the instructions and instructed me to use the acer tool and flash something...It was a while back...I will have to go back and check it out then...I bought the new dell streak and a galaxy s so I kind of put the acer on the back burner...When i get some time i will check it out...thanks man
Looking for stock Recovery.img
Hey guys ^^
I'm looking for the stock recovery.img that comes with Liquid E. The link mentioning where I can find what I need in the above posts has expired but It has lead me to what I believe I need. All except the original recovery.img
I need to send my phone in for repairs. I accidently blew my speakers(both front speaker and back) Its pretty much my fault. Im a welder and I got metal shards in the speakers and I used a magnet to get them out. A big no no lol. Im hoping to pull a fast one on Acer considering I've had the speaker problems where I cant hear the person calling me.
Anywho, I believe I have my old nandriod back up. Im just hoping it not my nandriod back up from my G1. =s Any tips on what I can do to find the stock recovery.img from rogers would be cool and maybe some advice what to check befor I send in my Liquid E? Much Appreciated ^^
PS! My nandroid back up Is rooted I thinks. Do I need to un-root befor I send it in?
If all goes well Ill make sure to put up a link to help the next person in my position. Including my nandroid back up
Ciao - Terry
Bump
I flashed the bin and it replaced Malez, Im assuming this is the stock recovery.img. but now I need to install Malez to restore my nandroid back up. Im not quite sure how to pull out the recovery.img and then put it back in when I'm done. help?!

[Q] Wi-Fi tether not working after Froyo update. Epic 4g.

Hi guys, it's my first time here, sorry if I'm repeating the same question that others had b4, but I can't seen to find the answer. My wireless_tether_***.apk was working fine b4 I updated to Froyo. What can I do to get it going again?
Thank you.

Go back to 2.1?
I believe you need to be rooted in order for this to work. If you are on just froyo, I dont think it will work.
I have rooted it for a while now. Going back to 2.1? Really?
This happened to me as well. After searching the answer was to go to an older version of wifi tether.
What worked for me was the pre11 apk in the link below.
code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
Pre14 didn't work for me had to get 15

Pre15 works fine with froyo. Maybe you could try getting the latest version and installing it. I know this seems like a crazy idea, but how about you give it a go anyhow.
I've tried many different versions, including the most recent one, & no luck, I think that it could be some of my settings. Any ideas?
One thing I just remember, when on 2.1 it asked me for the superuser permission, now it hasn't. Could that be it? How do I give the permission without asking for it?

Kernel?
When I attempt to tether I'm getting that my kernel doesn't support it. How should I proceed?

make sure the version of wifi-tether you use supports your device.
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
The above link shows the download and corresponding version that you should use for Epic. I used the lastest version pre15, and it works fine on my 2.2.1 froyo DK28 firmware.
I don't know which firmware are you using, but the pre15 should support the latest froyo
I'm using PRE13 and its working fine for me, used it a couple of times already.. here you go hope this link works.

That's my guess but not sure. one way to check if you lost your root is:
On your phone,
1. go to market, download and install Terminal Emulator
2. run Terminal, then at the prompt line, type "su" (don't include quotation marks) and then hit enter on keyboard
3. if the system says "su not found", that means you lost your root
This may be my stupid way to verify my rooting status. Other experienced users may have better way to do it

it will come out when the developers release it.
it'll be rooted when you downgrade to 2.2.1 :X
j/k or whenever, dunno how much progress/work people have been making on developing it
downgrade
I have tried that available link to downgrade but all in vain. i successfully got temp root but not able to perem root. so when i put downgraded stock rom, recieving message newer version is there and visionary is not helpful in my case.
Any idea how to do that .
The only reason i want to root is my camera . i dont know what happened to it. but whenever i try to use my camera it ended up in blank screen.
I am not good in that but thinking to change the rom maybe it resolve my problem
Any help / guidance thanks in advance.

What do you mean newer version? Are you following the downgrade guide that requires adb to push, execute some files, and flash all by adb. When you downgrade, you don't simply flash the pd15img.zip you should follow the guide.

Look in my signature, see a link to Wiki. Open it, go to section "Root", subsection "Gingerbread 2.3.4". There will be a guide which needs to be executed IN FULL.
Try and read this with caution NOT ME OR THE PERSON WHO MADE THIS IS REPONSIBLE... it has a one click downgrade and a one click root.. after all that is down, there's a root version of gingerbread available... one step at a time...

Help Newbie with Nexus One

Hi All, I just got my Nexus one off ebay and it appears its not rooted as i do not see the padlock icon and i also cannot run the nexus torch.
What im looking to do is revert back to the stock software and than do all the OTA updates myself.
Can someone help me with this ? Im not looking to root though.
Im running the ATT version of the Nexus one.
Thanks all for your help.
To be root or not
if you do not see the padlock, then you are root!!
hi, yes i know and i do not see the pad lock so i have a unrooted phone. Im trying to find out how i can install the stock software this way i can do the OTA updates myself.
Thanks
If there's no padlock and you're sure it's not rooted... why do you think it's not already stock?
Well its running gingerbread and i wanted to go back to froyo and than OTA the updates myself
If its not rooted, root it! What version you on currently?

If you don't see the padlock it means the bootloader is still locked. If you don't have the SuperUser app then you are more than likely NOT rooted. Sounds like a stock phone if you ask me. Why do you want to roll back to Froyo then update? Sounds like you are already where you want to be. It sounds like a case of reaching around your ass to scratch your elbow. Heh. If you try to OTA update it and it says you are up to date, I would suggest leaving it alone or just root it! Good luck!

Why? Is there a problem with what is currently installed? If it's working fine, then I would expect downgrading to a previous version and applying the updates would just get you back to where you are now. I'm not criticizing, just trying to understand what you're looking to achieve
If you mean stock as in "original" that isn't Froyo either. The Nexus One originally came with Eclair (2.1). If you don't have root, I'm not sure if you can downgrade or how safe it would be. I've seen mixed results with downgrading. The only way to do a complete flash would be with an unlocked bootloader or root + custom recovery.
If you don't want to root or unlock the bootloader, why not just do a full wipe and use the version you have on it? You could also root it temporarily to restore to an unrooted Eclair or Froyo, then apply the updates.
Thanks Narbir, I'm going to try this. Does it matter I have AT&T ?
I hope So. I m usng Voda uk. Don't really brother me by that.
Well the phone reboots often for no reason so i thought if i started from the factory installed software and go forward it would help.
How hard is it to root to install enclar and than go forward ? Unless someone has another idea for the reboot issue ?
Install the latest stock ROM in PASSIMG format (complete ROM, all the partitions). No need to go back to Eclair or Froyo.
Prepare for the possibility of it not helping at all, and your phone HW being faulty. If you have ADB set up - you can run "adb bugreport" after the crash, and look for "ARM9 has crashed" line in the log dump that comes. If you'll see them - no amount of ROM switching will help.
Not to sound pedantic, but you seem a little confused (OP). Why don't you start by reading the FAQs regarding rooting and unlocking the bootloader, and understanding the ROM installation processes.
Couple of fundamentals to get you started:
1. The padlock (or absence of) is no indication of whether you are rooted or not. It merely indicates whether your 'bootloader' is unlocked or not, which is a completely separate concept from rooting.
2. Easiest method of seeing whether you are rooted is to see if you have the 'SuperUser' app in your app drawer.
If your objective is to install a stock/default ROM, search for a 'PASSIMG' for the latest available firmware for your device. Search these forums or Google it. The procedure is fairly straightforward and only involves putting the file on your SD card - and will restore your phone to a stock usable state.
If you're interested in custom ROMs, the fastest way to get started is to use SuperOneClick to root (Google, please). Then go to the market and download ROM Manager and just follow the instructions!

[Q] Help! Need to get back to stock and get ota

I have been searching for awhile now, and just can't seem to find out what I need. I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227 Method 1, it was a mistake (I think). Now I'm stuck with android 3.01 and without root and/or OTA update available.

You're not "stuck"! Reverting is done in order to get a rootable firmware (3.0.1). Root it, install CWM and you're done - you can install whatever ROM you like. I thought that's quite clear but obviously I have mistaken, so I added #7 and #8.
If tablet currently boots then you can go into settings and "About Tablet" to find firmware versions...Just a thought..
