First I would like to say that I am absolutely loving this rom and would like to give a huge shoutout to the developers.
My question however is, what should I set my phone to with setcpu?

I use ON Demand and it is really fast with good battery life.
Do you BONSAI?
I use midNIGHT rom which has the same kernel and I use 1000/200 on conservative. It works like a charm. Roughly about 10% battery every 2 hours of minimal use.
I'm on bonsai using 200/1200 on conservative.
Sent From My Evo Killer!!!
1000/200 On Demand and under advanced i have the Powersave bias to like 150-250 ish.. so it doesnt need to keep ramping up to 1000 for work needed at 600 mhz or so..
I set mine to 100/1200 using the smartass setting. Battery usually lazts all day with medium usage.

Overclock your vibrant phone after rooting it and flashing trigger 2.2?

Nope I didn't just root and then put trigger 2.6 that's it nothing else

You have to install a kernel that allows OC in order to do so. Even then you may get problems if you have a Vibrant thats picky about its voltages.

Just flash one and take it for a spin. See for yourself. I have Axura with Morfic's kernel and its beautiful!

I was reluctant too, flashed the DOW14 and i'm really glad i did.
If you are OK with loss of Battery life over clocking is OK. For me, having a phone that after 24 hr of moderate use I still have 65% battery left is Awesome !!
Giving that that up just to have a higher Linpack or other high benchmark score ...to me is pointless..........
It will kill you phone if you oc high frequency
is there an SBC-bcnice-stable-v8 for EVO SHIFT? this is the kernel for better battery life with auto bump charge. I use it on the regular EVO and would love to use it on the SHIFT. I tried flashing it but I guess I need one made for the shift. any help would be appreciated ...
Check the android dev section..bcnice has a 1.5 uv kernel

Naw, no one's bothered with an SBC kernel yet. Too busy getting GB and AOSP compatible kernels working fully.

Under volt is actually using less voltage at a specific clock speed. Lowering your frequencies with screen off is just under clocking

Just the standard bcnice 1.5 kernel will treat you real well. Check top speeds incrementally if going to overclock...some can't go the full 1.5 and others can go higher.

I can't see a visual difference between 1.5 and 1.8 though I of course got better linpack and what not but at 1.8 it would heat up if I played angry birds lol

I read that Miui has a faster battery drain than some other roms. I was wondering if the battery life is at least on par with an older rom like Bionix.
Anyone go from B1.3.1 to Miui?

This is absurd. Why are you being so hostile? Did someone force you to sit at a desk and punch in a bunch of numbers every 108 minutes? Did someone steal your baby?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I'm running CM7, which I've read is very similar to MIUI. When I was using Bionix I could go at least 24 to 36 hrs without charging with my typical minimal use (using edge network). On CM7 I get about 13 to 16 hrs, but CM7 runs rings around Bionix as far as responsiveness goes. It's fast and smooth!
1. You could literally burn out your processor making your phone unusable at all (think of RROD for phones)
2. If it crashes while writing sd or nand you could loose data such as apps, texts from your boss, videos of your baby's first steps, pictures of your girlfriend and contacts of coworkers
3. Your phone could become less tolerant of workload and have random reboots even on stock RFS at 1ghz
4. A lot more such as battery overheating and possible exploding
5. IT IS A PHONE WITH NO FANS!
NEVER GO ABOVE 1.3 GHZ OR AT BEST STAY ON 1.0 GHZ (OR 1.2) LIKE SAMSUNG PUTS YOU ON DEFAULT (FOR A REASON)...
Please share your opinion of overclocking but don't be mean to others. There arrested some benefits but I say stay under 1.3

Sectors is the nand memory, not the processor. I am just saying the risks of it. Not saying that you shouldn't, just the risks.

I think it all depends on your surroundings, in a hot car I underclock and it still gets hot, outside or in a cold room I push it to 1.4ghz and it only gets warm. Also overclocking on the charger is probably a bad idea too. Just my 2 cents
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I only overclock occasionally for bragging when a friend gets a fancy new phone or something.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Absolutely agree Marcusant. The only people I see random rebooting after release are OC'ing. My phone is superfast at 1000 Mhz and Legendary plus it barely does 1200 anyway so why blow it up?
Also aren't there galaxy s variants that come overclocked at 1.2ghz? Plus the moment was overclocked too. So I guess samsung is fine with overclocking.

I wasn't suggesting this was gonna get locked - just answering your question about what "L" in IBFL meant ....... I am in agreement about OverClocking ( and UnderVolting ) because some phones ( mine included ) don't handle OC/UV very well

exactly. the infuse uses same chipset but clocked at 1.2ghz factory.
Other than for bragging rights, overclocking a phone(especially on the epic) is almost pointless.
Its not like on a PC where you can overclock a CPU 50-100% of its original clocks to yield performance. A .3ghz overclock really get you nothing in the real world.
A year ago overclocking was marginal at best because no apps were able to utilize our phones processor but now with dual cores all around us it will be the only way we can keep up. Don't believe me? Try playing shadowgun at 1.0ghz

YMMV but this was my battery today with the newest samurai kernel tanto

This being covered time and time again in many different posts over many different threads almost warrants no answer but ill give you one and here it is
try them all flash one per day till you find one that works for you the way you like it everyone uses their phone differently so no matter what you will get different results than i do or the next person that post on this
It's really up to you, try them out and see what you like the best. I've tried all 3 kernels currently out right now and they all work pretty good. The two I usually stick with are shadow kernel and the samurai kernel. Shadow kernel is nice and makes everything feel real snappy. You can overclock to 1400 mHz and the battery life for me is good. The newest shadow, tanto, overclocks to 1500 mHz and works with voodoo control. Haven't gotten the chance to really test battery since it just came out but so far it runs pretty good. Just test both of them out, you can always flash over another kernel.

I'm using shadow now and have used apro's too and they both worked great. You need to experiment with them, and you're going to have to tweak to get better battery life. I had several trying to constantly run and none of them were things I use a lot so they had to go. If I wanted super battery life I would have bought a flip phone and not a micromini laptop, and I wouldn't have such a joyful device to tinker with.

Stock is always going to be the best for wanting nothing but the simplicity.
Put it like this when i buy a car, i put bigger tires on my car for grip, and better handling. But i know i will loose some gas mileage but not alot.
I'll put a turbo and some internals into my engine to gain in power but will loose gas.
But if we can put bigger tires and a bigger turbo but still have the same gas results as stock, Then why not do it?
We all benefit in one area and thats why custom kernels are there for those who want options that stock doesn't provide.
Stock= Base Model
Custom = Fully Loaded
Simple as that. So everyone should try different kernels and then reply not saying oh this is the best. But say IMO i prefer this over that simply because of these reasons. Everyone will want a specific kernel because one may like different things about the different kernels
