i had tytng 8.3 i thnik and that had the best reception and i flashed then to r9 and from there my phone's wifi doesnt work very well, reverted back to 8.3 but now it is still the same and i use stock android wifi "sercher" duno how is it called and i didnt touch any options in MIUI

so?????????

me too i had tytng 8.3 with miui 4.2 themed and all is perfect wifi conexion etcccc.. i think is beter than the news tytng r9 go back to tytng 8.3

Check if there are the same files in both tytung packages, maybe r9 left something in the system or mybe your issue might be Rom related..
Btw, i use tytungs 8.3 and i dont plan to change it. Since i installed this kernel i am really happy. Battery is lasting almost forever its still on 70-75% after 12 hours of moderate usage, this is really great for me.

with 8.3 it was great but now i reverted back to 8.3 but still nothing

sounds interesting.. but i have two questions though
is it based on the new BIN with multitouch support?
does google navigation work correctly?
Yes, xian 0.5b is based on new bin with multitouch and yes, google navigator works well.
My linpacks are same from 5.22. to 5.589.
Known problems:
SMS apk FC always, you ave to use handcent.
blueex doesn't work, i use bluetooth file now.
sometimes wifi or 3g connection don't work, i don't know why.
All other is perfect. Smooth, fast, Live wp, etc.
Only, i'm searching for a launcher eclair with 5row...

that's weird because the new BIN seems to have a navigation problem as it goes backwards,,
it's in all ROMs based on the new BIN so I'm wondering how could xian rom doesn't have that issue..
Got 3.605 with Liberated 1.3.1

Yes there is a navigation problem because the compass doesn't work well but it's not a problem of rom but of BIN. Anyway, I use sygic and it doesn't work with compass... no problem with sygic

(Discussion) - Which Kernel do you prefer ?

Greetings,
I want to know your opinion .. Which Kernel do you prefer and why ??
- ElBartoME 2.6.32.9 #1 OR
- michyprima's R11 OR
- Darkstone OR
- Hastarin R7.1
-----> Currently i am using Hastarin R7.1 ... Tell me your experience ...?
Thanks ...
each dev puts hard work into each build. u shouldnt single out any of them by posting this poll.
there is no "best" kernel as there are good points in all of them and together they have created their own style of working.
All of the kernels are have similar tweaks so alot of things are the same i.e darkstones graphics tweaks and michys ext batteries.
I think that this would need to be a "which kernel do you prefer" rather than a best thread as this all falls down to preference. I for example prefer michy's kernel as i like having the higher clock speed and it has never let me down. I have tried others but keep coming back to michy's

i didn`t mean any insult for any dev .. title changed !
I prefer michyprima's R11 as I find that current evo kernels break more things than they fix.
Please move this to Android general?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I see how this topic could become helpful. It could signal out which kernel is the most used, eventually, kernel devs could move from their stuck-up ways and work together on whichever kernel people consider to be better/more stable.
I'm on Matt 1.8 and his kernel had constant problems with data dropping and very frequent 2-3 second freezes that were just abnoxious.
I switched to hastarin 4.1 and then 7.1 and I wouldn't go back. My device's been on Android only ever since and it's staying that way.
agreed.
this is a bit of an odd issue, because personally I really don't like the Hastarin R7.1 kernels, and the darkstone ones work beautifully, but clearly that isn't the case, regarding the fact that that's the most popular one.
in retrospect, this probably isn't a very good idea for a thread, because its not going to show anyone which kernel to get, because they will most likely get a different experience to others

Michy Evo R0
I actually like the Michy Evo R0 kernel. For me all the nexus one based kernels have the problem of freezing up if you let it go to standby with wifi on, once it happens you don't have much choice but to wait until it unfreezes. All the Evo kernels have the problem with the delayed flash, but that's a smaller problem for me.
I don't think telling devs they are stuck up is a good idea. I personally use which ever I wanna try. It gives them each good feedback. They make changes and those fixes spread to other kernals.

Im running Hastarin´s (4.1 or 5 i believe) in Mattc´s 1.8, im not sure which kernel was on that one, but im getting great results with this combination, standby drain goes down to 5ma at some points, and running with no SOD, almost none touch screen freezing, really minimal, and when they occurr it gets recovered pretty fast, im really happy with it, no 3G data for me, wifi works great though.
SLDS.
PS: Sorry about my english, i hope i made sense lol
I'm using Hastarin 4.1 ... didn't decide yet to move to 7.1 till most of users say it's OK.
I tried MichyPrima as well to see if it solves the data connection issues but turned out to be almost same performance like Hastarin's.

I agree. This is why I didn't upgrade to Froyostone 3.1. Seems that all current issues still exists + delayed camera flash due to the Evo Kernel
Hastarin's 7.1 drops data like a son of a *****. I ripped the one out of Shubcraft 1.5... Never had a drop signal once.
Just go to advanced wifi settings and set wifi sleep to never

Do'h! Why didn't I think of that? Of course now that I've tried the desire HD builds I really really really want to use that, but that camera doesn't work at all.
Now that I think about it, kernel code is getting better all the time, this poll really is premature. Maybe 6 months from now we can really decide.

[Q] best custom rom for u8800 cyanogenmod vs miui vs oxygen

i want a stable rom which should have all working features. i want performance and battery fixes for stock rom. i will consider stability and feature over performance.
I have been using cm7 for several months, totally stable on my phone. USB tether is the only thing that i have noticed not working.
Miui is good looking but not as smooth in my opinion.
Oxygen is as fast as cm7 and very clean.
You should try them all for a few days each, and then make up your mind.

is there any about whether cyanogenmod 9 will officially support u8800?

Nope. There is no official CM yet. And i think it will be only CM7, not 9.
Genokolar's CM7 works very well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068766
I've been using v111118 with franco.kernel. Even o/c'd to 1024MHz it is much more stable, better features and more battery life than the stock rom by far. I have changed the CPU governor to "Conservative" as, like you, I'm more into battery life than performance.
I don't use either wifi tether or usb tether, so not sure if they work or not. I just tried wifi tether now, but failed. Could easily be my setup.
Try them all for a while and choose the one that serves you best. The new CM is pretty fast, but I like the MIUI's gui (not any less smooth than CM I think, on the opposite...MIUI's launcher is really slick and smooth). Both MIUI versions (PT and US) seem to work well now, including usb and wifi tethering (for the most of us anyway). Basically it's apples and oranges; MIUI appeals to one person and CM&Oxygen to the other.

Looks like CM7 doesn't have USB tether working for us, but OpenGarden Wifi Tether (from the Market) does work (and is free).
The built-in wifi tether *may* work (I didn't spend long trying) but seems to turn off the wifi chip when the screen goes off, despite the wifi power options being set to "never".

Better to just ask for opinion

Hello all!
I registered here last winter, at first installing a custom ROM, then the initial 2.3.5 official release - but in the end to be safe rather than sorry, I put in the official 2.2 and been using that for 3 months. Lately though, the 2.2 has proven to be hard to use, especially when typing and correcting stuff. I would be now willing to jump into the waters.
Last time I checked, there wa some reported stuff in official 2.3.5 about dropping calls - then there being a fix for it, and then report about the fix doing nothing.
To me I need my phone to function as a phone, at all times, the interface can be nice but it cannot sacrifice any phone related functionality.
All i simply ask in current situation: How is the official 2.3.5? How is .35 kernel based ROMs? Would you people recommend upgrading to official 2.3.5?
I'd also be interested in the custom roms, though as said, bugs, even minor ones I try to avoid.
Thanks! You people are awesome!
The official 2.3.5 sounds good for your use
Battery lasts long everything works I guess
But try aurora 2.02)
Definately upgrade

He's asking for stability and you suggest Aurora? Dzo is actively working on it, yes it's mostly stable, but for someone who seems to want to install a ROM and forget about it, not worrying to need to updating it constantly and encounter the occasional bug, I would discourage Aurora.
I recommend you Ezet CM7 .32 ROM, it's the most stable you will find at the moment. Everything works by default, even wifi tether. It's FAST! It's smooth, astounding sound volume in calls and multimedia overall, it's CM7.2, which has ics animations, including rotation, and that's beautiful, it has t9 dialer... better still, it has x5 settings app, in which you can tweak all sorts of stuff that it's simply not possible in .35 ROMs...
But best of all, it's 32 kernel, so on worries about the horrible job Huawei did with the .35 kernel, no missed calls, no problems with amtel screens, no low volume, etc...
Sent from my U8800
Oh really? Sounds fantastic... I think that I could give the best try for - and thanks for fantastic recommendation. Sounds like perfect upgrade for me.
Darn. I got the rom installed and it is working quite well - but wifi is not connecting... I will wait and see does it rectify on the AP overnight - Can´t even test with other AP's even now - but this aside wifi problems in general has always plagued my huawei. And 3G is not free nor unlimited for me, and I am mostly home so WLAN rocks

Yeah... Well Text editing in 2.2 sucks without the arrow tool and all. 2.3.x is enough for that all at least.
Too bad Wifi also halted to function afterwards, I hope it is just devide name mismatch in AP and works fine after 24 hours.
.32 MIUI or CM is what you should use. They are very stable and fast.

Seems like it TTGWarheat, the Ezet 7.2 seemed like a great thing, but I still need to tinker around reinstalling some base system software I think, some kind of error is making my phone result in non-functional wifi and I want to know what it is. I may need to find some older possible 2.2 based stock rom dload, install that first, and then get into monkey business installing Ezet again...

dell streak 5 wifi range

I had nexus one which had a pretty good wifi range.. I could access my home network router from pretty far away.. now i am using Dell streak 5 within same home network and I have found that it's wifi range is a lot less than nexus one... why does it happen? any idea? Can we boost wifi range of dell streak 5?
Streak 5 has a wide wifi range especially with MIUI ROMs.
Flash a MIUI ROM and try again, you will see that it has a perfect wifi range.
really let me check it with MIUI .23 version
Please post back if you see a difference using MIUI rom, i'm also interested
i flashed with MIUI .20 version ROM, i am sorry i did not find any difference
To save younall some time.... there's pretty much nothing can be done about the Streaks short wifi range
