[Q] How do I flash my Droid X completely back to stock? - Droid X General

I flashed the non-rooted leak of Gingerbread and would like to flash this thing back to stock. Completely start over. Is it possible? I searched and found a few links but they said something about if you flashed past such and such update not to use this guide. Would like my X factory default. I know there are a few guides but I figure its better to ask now before I brick a phone....
Thanks all!!

Sbf. You're on gingerbread so look for either system version 2.3.320 or 2.3.340 either will work. Google how to sbf Droid x or simply look here for any thread about phone bricked or going back to stock. You will find a guide. I'm willing to bet at least 10% of the threads here will have a guide.
If you run into any trouble at all just reply to this and I will be glad to help you
I'd post a guide myself but I feel like dying right now so I'd probably tell you how to do something else and just completely screw you over XD

[Q] DX root basic info?

Not a noob by any means but can't lie I'm stuck. I was hoping to upgrade to the newest leak but I had to sbf back, and I'm talking waaaay back to .15. So do I need to upgrade to .20 the .32 and so forth? if so can some tell me yes or no. I've had to sbf at least 2 twice and i'm getting frustrated so before I blow my up I would like to reach to Android Nation for help. As well as start this thread so anyone with questions about and basic root ?uestions or pure frustration can come and get advice.
Here is a link that should help

hey im stuck in bootloader 30.04 what version SBF should I use

Just got Samsung Vibrant!! How do I update to 2.2 Stock? Help please.

Hello.
I just got this phone, and it is UNLOCKED and stock 2.1 on it.
I would like to update to the official 2.2 and keep the unlocked, can someone point me to the right direction and tell me how that will be done?
I heard the 2.2 is not out officially, but it is leaked, so that leaked version is the full 2.2 stock or something missing?
I heard something about rooting, flashing, but I am not sure what that means as I just got this phone.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

root the phone 1st then download rom manager then pick a rom eugene's , sombionix, or master are all good read up on them and then pick one
down load it on to your computer then load into the internal sd card then reboot in to recovery or through clockwork (rom manager) and load it up.. If you can't follow read up on the sticky's in this forum it explains way better.........
Look in here for all your needs and tools that you'll want to get started on getting Root, ClockworkMod Recovery and a Custom Rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
Look in here for all the different Roms. (ie Android 2.1 roms or Android 2.2 roms)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=711
Just like oka1 said, you need to root your device first. Then get rom manager from the market and install clockworkmod recovery through it. When your done with that download any rom you want and put it on your Internal Memory (Phone Storage) on the root of it. Then flash through Clockworkmod. Hope its enough. ;D
Words are sounding very complicated, but I am sure its not just need to learn how to do the steps....
Also the 2.2 will fix GPS, and have Full Flash browser right?
Can I use this to root? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739300
Also if I brick this phone as I am new at it, can it be recovered?
And where do I find the stock 2.2, please?
Thanks.
Look in the development forum or use search. It's all there, and trivial to find.
My signature should teach you everything you need.
for the rom, go to the development section... There is a sticky called the bible. It has everything.
I personally would flash nero v3 (not the beta 3). Most on here agree it's amazing.
Also, Vibrant's are REALLY hard to brick... Worst case you can use odin to get back to stock 2.1. Thid is also covered in my signature.
Now, with all that said... Samsung promised froyo by year end. You may want to wait a few days (I'd still take nero over an ota, just giving you all the information. They may not deliver)

I would just leave it factory cause I see this ending in a soft brick and you freaking otu thinking you ruined your phone when you didnt
Learn how to use Odin FIRST, then learn how to root, then learn how to flash, all of this is covered somewhere in this forum.....search a little and you'll be flashing in no time.
Sent from THE Vibrant......
The newest and greatest is Nero 3 by team whiskey, its a custom 2.2, but with a gingerbread (2.3) feel and look. They have been at it for a a while and this is a wonderful rom. Check out my thread in this (vibrant general) forum for links and all the tips you need just ask.
I'd love to help.
Canada just got the official 2.2 Froyo update. Can't you just use that download?
Thank you for your replies, I am reading the guides now and hopefully everything works out.
Can someone please tell me does 2.2 have full flash browser?

[Q] Updating to .340 OTA?

I hate to do this because it might be somewhere else but I have 2.3.15 on my X and I want to get back to stock so that I can get the OTA .340 to start clean. The reason I'm posting on here is on all of the guides I've read about sbfing I am a little confused and see things about bootloader 10.03 and .04 and I have .01 and don't wanna brick obviously so I was wondering if someone could tell me what steps I need to take to get to stock so I can OTA?
This...

I'm in the same boat, but the wiki doesn't give this n00b quite enough detail. I want to learn, but there's so much information out there, the pace of development is so fast, and there are so many 50-page threads full of "dude this is awesome!" posts, it's hard for me to make any sense of it.
I'm on 2.3.150, rooted with Z4 -- just got the phone two weeks ago. I like where my phone is, for the most part, but I'd like to experiment with some custom ROMs, and they appear mostly to be built on 320/340. I've got Titanium Backup installed, with much of the bloat frozen.
I deleted the 340 OTA file with Root Explorer a couple of times, because I'd seen a couple of people post on here that they quit getting the Verizon nags about installing the update.
Not only has that not worked (I'm still getting nagged), but the phone keeps downloading the update again. So, I'm just going to go ahead and jump to 340 with the rest of the DX world. But I need to know how to get from where I am now through the update and back to a rooted phone.
Do I need to go all the way back to stock first? Can I just unfreeze all the bloat, un-root, and let the install proceed? Once I've installed the update, then, how do I get back to where I am now?
There are so many threads with so much differing information, I don't have any idea where to start or what to expect. I don't want a $300 paperweight.
Help me, Obi Wan, you're my only hope!
As long as bloat is not removed, you can just un-freeze it and update. You re-root in thi same way you did on 2.3.15

[Q] NEED HELP. DROID X Bootstrapper. Sending a phone back to VERIZON. Desperate

First i'm going to say sorry as i know this isn't the first and probably won't be the last thread posted about removing droid X bootstrapper. With that said thank you in advance for helping me.
Before i go on i'll preface by saying i am no expert but with proper instruction i can learn very easily. I rooted my DX using z4root and used droid x bootstrapper to create a nandroid and flashed the Fission Rom. I am new to the DX, came from the DINC, and the only reason i rooted was because my phone was rebooting randomly and i thought maybe that would fix it but it didn't so i was able to get a refurb DX which is working better already and so now i have to send my old back to Verizon. Problem is i unrooted it and restored to defaults and Bootstrapper, Terminal Emulator, and SU were all still there. so i researched the boards since this community has made me excited to be an android user, and tried both methods of Root explorer and Terminal emulator, and even flashed maderstcock340.zip but again upon restoring to defaults, all 3 apps showed up again.
I need help, i didn't want to ask for help because i dont want to bother anyone but i need the help. Even a link to something else that i should try would be a great help.
I mean even if anyone is willing to skype with me and help me out that way i'll buy you a 6 pack.
EDIT: Will using the .340 system only sbf work to remove it? and if not will using TBH's 2.3.32 fix it??!?!
Have you tried unrooting with z4, you can uninstall the other two in the market. If z4 fails to unroot, you might have to flash a sbf. Its easy find " how to's" in the forums.

Well i thought that is what maderstcoks340.zip was supposed to be. A flashable sbf? can you direct me to a link where i can download the .340 SBF and the right version of RSD Lite
I'm currently at work and on my phone...so you'll have to find the links yourself...
But flashing the .340 won't get you completely back to stock. You'll need to find a link to the .320 sbf...I think there is one on droid-life.com
Apply the 320 and then the 340.
340 sbfs are easy to find...but you'll obviously need that too.

[Q] Best Rom for rooted DX 621

I just got root back after taken the 621 update months ago. I use the Magic MD5 Root 2.3.4 for D2, R2D2, D2G, DX (no milestone SBF) and 2.3.5 for DX2
worked great, very easy to get rooted. Now I am looking to go back to a custom rom. I was using liberty before updated. Any suggestions on which is the best rom. I have put titanium back up on, rom manager and liberty tool box. Going to make a nandroid backup and back up apps.
I want a fast and smooth rom.
looking for rom that stays on 621

I a really looking for something that stays on 621, which roms will work with out sbfing. If I need to I will sbf to later build. Also can I now sbf back to what ever I like since I am rooted.
Thanks
guess there are no Dx users left

You didn't get an answer because there are dozens of threads already with people asking "what rom should i use for xxx build?".

Do your reading. Root has nothing to do with your ability to sbf. Once you're on 621, you're on it for life. There is no going back. Only the choice between 621 and 604 Milestone. This information has been out for months.
Your post is bad. Go back and watch the You Are A Noob on XDA Developers. You aren't looking for advice, you want someone to cater to you so you don't have to do it yourself. Check your attitude.
I've only needed to make 10 posts in the nearly two years that I've come to this forum for information. I had to recover my account password to tell you how annoying you are.

This is correct. Once on 621 you cannot go back to any previous versions. Probably the best ROM out there is Wiz's MIUI. Everything works and battery life is stellar.
