i have the linx 3G (compal naz-10),
which is the same as the elocity A7,
its running original stock 2.1 Android,
would it be possible for me to use the elocity A7 firmware,
or would i need to have android 2.2 on the device first,
the 3G i do tend to use at times,
will any other firmware wipe the 3G device (drivers)...

I have a more important question ...
WHERE DID YOU GET ONE WITH 3G!?!?!?!?!?
this is the result I get for the model you mentioned.

That is not the same as our tablets
its a early model from US,
uses the Sony f3307 3G card which works alright...
thats the Linx N700,
my model is kind of hard to find info on,
but there is a video on youtube,
if you search for the following on youtube a video will come up,
" Compal NAZ-10 Hands-On: Android Tablet Has Sleek UI at MWC "
and
" Compal 7 inch Android Tablet Running Tegra 2 "
So is it linx branded or compal branded?
Being an early model that still had the 3g provisions, does it also support actual multi touch?
Are you in any sort of hurry to sell it?
As for your firmware question (sorry to get off topic).
Unless ours still have the leftovers software wise, you'd loose functionality.
I know inside ours, the 3G antenna is still there, so maybe they got lazy and left the drivers and such in the elocity stock roms too, but it would be to big of a risk for me.
But if you can somehow backup your current rom/partitions/etc then I'd say give it a try.
Just sold my iPad so this is the only tablet i have at the moment,
so how do i backup the current rom which is running...
using the apx mode instructions in the dev section of the forum.
beyond me at the moment. Hell I am scared out of my wits right now trying to flash a new recovery to an HTC Evo through adb ... Never done it before, but I have my fingers crossed so that means it will work lol ... good luck if you take on the backup option.
Cheers,
Will give it a try,
most likely will have a go over the weekend,
as need the device for tomorrow and friday...
Just read the instruction,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1022273
and that stuff is crazy
But i think i will have to give it ago as i would love to have 2.2 working,
That's strange elocity removed the 3G card,
But is the sim slot still there next to the 3G card???
the teardown pictures from the FCC showed the sim slot being there...

Check the tear down thread. They changed the board in the production model. While similar to the FCC submital version, it is very different.

ok,
just seen it,
so you will need to solder a mini pci-e slot,
i had to do this a few years back on a eeepc and just couldnt do it,
evently gave up and went down to a tv repair store,
and got a guy to solder it for me in exchange for a drink...

There is more missing than just a mini pci-e slot.
There are parts of the main board that were just completely omitted.
I thought you'd only need the pcie slot, sim tray and antenna,
If we knew exactly what each pin was for,
Then there are tons of other cool mods,
Internal USB storage, sd card, gps (depends on android support),
I haven't tried but want to try another data card to see if it works...
Firmware question...
Upgrading from 2.1 too 2.2 is there no simple update solution,
Or it has to be a full wipe of the hdd and fresh install...

Especially where yours is kind of a one-off prototype-ish one (You ARE the guy with the one that is branded differently and had 3g right?) I would definitely go with a whole new rom and not try to just install over the old rom without wiping. Who knows how much trouble you could run into.
@acid123; i made a point to update the first paragraph to remind folks that they should flash the latest factory firmware using android recovery first, in case they hadn't read that 2.2 has already been available.
i thought it shipped w/ 2.2 myself.
evo; sorry for clicking reply on the wrong message.
It's a Linx compal early version,
So has the 3G built in but came with Android 2.1,
Might as well try this out and see if it works,
Most likely will take ages but will try doing a backuP first and then try the 2.2 rom....
3G Mini pci-e
Hey guys, I found the 3g card mentioned above on ebay! I then opened my A7 and found the perfect spot made for the card - antenna and all - problem is the pci-e plug adapter isn't there. Would have to solder one on - found that on ebay also for about 3 bucks. May or may not work, but I'm not gonna ruin my A7 with my crappy soldering.
Someone wanna try and let us know?
P.S. - it's a Sony-Ericsson card f3307.

Please, read about Apx-mode (in dev section) and check it on your tablet.
If you have it, you can easily dump and backup whole ROM. And restore back too.
In this mode you can even erase bootloader and restore it.

I've been looking all over the fourm reading about all the different ROM's I just cant decide which I like? or really my biggest concern which is the fastest and most stable...I can live without a camera for a little bit so thats not a HUGE factor. Alot of the ROMS that use over clock or require to use app2sd make you partion your sd card. I have a 8gb sd card I bought from best buy when I got the phone, how can I tell what class it is? my other question is what if i switch roms do I need to change my sd card or re partion it?
I tried Fresh 2.0d and after awhile it just got laggy!!! and I switched back to RegawMOD 2.1r
fresh 2.0d
mother ****ing word
when you feel comfortable... move to fresh toast... it's the shiznit!
just do fresh 2.0d for now, you will have to re-partition that later for fresh toast, but pull this thread back up once you get to that point and someone should be able to copy/paste a how-to

you don't need apps2sd to use any of the overclock roms. lol. If you want fast, go for fresh toast. it has brain **** scheduler in it that'll **** your phone's brain (in a good way ), or go for my darchdroid rom which is also fast and is built from source, but doesnt have a brain ****er in it... yet

any plans on useing BF darch? that would be stupid fast
Go for Fresh Rom or one of Darch's roms.
yup, whenever i get around to doing a make otapackage i will release it.
Can't go wrong with Darchstar, Flipz, or Damage, Or Konikub's roms. Hell the 2.1 based ones are all stable as hell. Pick one, try it, pick another try it, etc etc etc. It's an addiction
Just remember tho......overclock=running hotter=shorter lifespan, otherwise, flash away.......
How should i format my sd card? like how much for swap and fat32 and ext2??
How can I tell what class card I have?
I'm also wondering the same question. I want the closest possible ROM to the regular HTC/Sprint one. Right now I am using DamageControl and just want to make sure I'm using the best I can use?

should have said what class when you bought it, ehh.. maybe look at the sd for a model number or something or look online or where you bought it from.
ehh.... ok so for fresh toast you need to part fat32+ext2 leave 32mb for cache and 512-1024mb for everything else
then you need to convert ext2 to ext 3 then convert ext3 to ext 4
that's how it's susposed to work, I wouldn't reccomend it for your first rom, but you're the one driving, we're just here to give you directions.

See that 2 in the circle to the right of SD? Thats a class 2 card.
Mine just says class 4 right across the middle.. lol
And for that one guys.. DamageControl or flipz 2.0d is the closest to sprint. It has all the sprint stuff in it.
If I wanna use Fresh Toast, will the ROM still be super fast if I dont use APP2SD because my sd card is only a class 2 and I really want to try fresh toast, and I dont want to take me chances with a class 2 card. Or do I need a class 2 card regardless if I use app2sd or not?

Cool story bro!
same here
Not to sound like a broken record, but I'm having this problem as well....
I as originally drawn to this concept by an article in the unlockr.com, and that person said that it came from damage control, so that's the one I downloaded. So, I have the 2.07.2, but only because it's the first thing i saw
My question is... is this version the latest and greatest, or is this one of many takes on the originally leaked rom... I dont care about overclocking or anything, I just want the latest rom with the coolest features until sprint finally stops dragging their butts.

I installed the fresh2.0d yesterday, it failed me bad. Switched to the fixxxedsenserom v1 last night. WAY faster then the fresh 1.6 i had on it, web doesnt have flash?? thats weak but over all i love it...on second thoughts tho im not sure ill keep the htc sense in it, but it causes no conflicts. and i have a second launcher..anyone want to tell me y this is so important??

I'm personally not too concerned since 16GB seems like more than enough, but I'm sure people will be asking if it can be upgraded or not. We really won't know till someone tears into it which is more likely since it was released today.
*UPDATE*
I just came across this: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4015/htc-surround-review-pocket-boombox/8
It doesn't seem that difficult to get to actually, just a bit of disassembly required. It apparently comes with a SanDisk Class 4 16GB microSD card.
AT&T kills another great device! They also did it to the Tilt2 when they removed the 3.5 mm jack from that device. Somebody needs to fire an executive in that company.
T-Mobile did the same thing with the HTC HD7 but someone managed to swap cards and the HD7 worked with a 32GB microSD.

Actually, It's not AT&T's fault. It's just that WP7 doesn't support swapping out memory yet, like say an Android phone.
Bought my surround today. ATT said there would be a patch comming out and not to insert a sd card yet....

Yeah, we know you can't swap memory yet but the devices in Europe allows you to upgrade memory capacity before the 1st boot. AT&T choose to remove that option on the Surround not the Focus. AT&T's fault...
Just picked up my phone. Very solid device.
I got my surround yesterday, and so far, I am pleased.
Has anyone actually looked under that piece yet? A teardown of the Mozart revealed a similar metal piece that was not hiding a microSD card.

Good find. I'm still waiting for mine, so someone else will have to dig into it.
Anybody care to break down their Surround?
Got my Surround 2 days ago
Nice phone, well built, the OS is slick with a lot of promise. Active tiles are slick, the Zune software on the phone & PC works great. In 2 days I managed to get back my BBC stream, got some video news, GPS is great, loaded some of my movies, set up my email, my contacts we transferred from my old sym at the AT&T store and I had no problems transferring them to the phone, and there are 100s of free apps already out and more coming every day. Pretty soon all of the developers will port over their apps and all will be fine again. Many apps use the GPS to find your area and cater what they deliver according to where you live. I paid $200 for it. I MAY have preferred to have the HD7, not sure since I haven't seen it and held it yet, but the Surround is really fine and if I decide to change or upgrade later on I wont lose anything. While we all get used to old habits and the way things work I thing this OS is an improvement and half the fun is setting up our toys the way we want them. Flash will be added to IE soon, upgrades will come from MS, we will be able to access the file system, more customizations will become available. The screen is twice the size of my Dash 3G. I am hoping an IRC client will be ported over soon since that is what I miss the most.

I completley agree with everything you said. The only thing that kills me is the battery life. It is down right terrible. I dont fiddle too much with my phone as im usually too busy to do so, but when i do want to use it, seems like the battery is just not up to the task.
Tips & tricks
Have a look in the Windows 7 general discussion..there's a tips and tricks thread at the top that give you ways to lengthen battery life. There are quite a few things to do like time out the screen sooner, turn off geocaching, etc. It should help. So far I haven't seen any spare batteries for sale on Ebay but they will come. This is a GREAT phone.
Updated the first post.
I would, but:
1) Haven't bought it yet and
2) I'd probably end up breaking it.
I was going to buy a 32gb class 4 card (Kingston), but $100 is half the price of the phone and I couldn't justify it. I also loaded a decent amount of stuff on it and have 9.7gb left. I think I can hold off for a while till prices drop.
If you look at the teardown article further you will see that under the metal cover is a metal pad with foam and under that is a 16gb micro sd card. Not sure its worth it as someone pointed out it will cost a bit for a 32gb micro sd card and you will void any warranty. As for the post that said WP7 does not support changing cards out I thought one of the 3 phones with WP7 that AT&T sells had a removable sd card and onboard as well. That would make more sence that the drive with the ROM needs to static but if you have that the os should support a removable card its just that the surround does not have build in memory so the micro sd cannot be removed.
The Samsung Focus has an accessible microSD slot. I believe it also has 8gb internally.
In the ifixit teardown of the 3G xoom... there is (in step 8) a blank mini-pci board, presumably for the LTE upgrade.
If this is also present in the Wifi Xoom, and this card were placed in it's place, and the appropriate coding was done, would it perhaps ... function?
Just some thoughts...
Damn, serious? I'm kinda curious too now!

I say buy it and give it a try in all honestly it would be pretty cool if you could use it
Where would a sim card go on the wi-fi Xoom if you did this?
If you can get Linux source drivers, it might be doable, but you'd have to figure out a way to get the drivers to link up with the Android data layer (not sure if that's easy or hard)...

It does? Damn, I should look more carefully I wonder if you can do anything with it... Like retrieve contacts stored on a SIM.
There was a similar thread already here somewhere. It would be great if we could achieve this, but it'll surely require a lot of coding
I think the minipci card has its own sim slot. i don't think it would interact with the xoom's own sim slot (although it looks like there is the contacts for a sim on the wifi xoom)

The Broadcom BCM4329 chip that all Xoom models use is WiFi/BT/FM (both receive and transmit).
But that's a moot point if they haven't connected the appropriate I/O pins to those of the CPU.
Is there an app to run on xoom and see what devices are recognised by the operating system and which are recognised but missing the drivers? Kinda like the device manager on windows?
Sent from my MZ604 using XDA Premium App
This was an idea I had not sure if its possible but here goes.
We all know the xoom comes in 2 versions wifi and wifi/3g with a 4G upgrade. So far I can only assume this kind of modification is possible to do the 3/4G model.
As an alternative to upgrading to the 4G network or if your xoom has a bad esn it might be possible to remove the dummy half-height mini pci-e card and replace it with a mini pci express ssd hard drive. Both cards use the same 26-Pin connector so in theory it should work. Although there is no telling how or if it will even recognize the ssd.
I Purchased a used wifi/3g xoom from amazon and a 80gb intel ssd from newegg..........let the testing begin

Interesting. Would of made more sense to post after you tested.
I'll bet it would, but you might need a kernel with the PCI bits turned on or modified.
I remember when I bought a PCI express card for a netbook to do hardware decoding (for smoother videos).
PCI express slots can be wired in different ways, specifically in my case as PCI-E or USB.
This slot could be wired as either considering it's to host 3G/4G whatever.
So this might be a restriction on what cards can be used.
Also when I mistakenly installed the 3G images on my WIFI only. It would try connect by 3G card first (even though non existent) and then try to use the WIFI. So given the card and the right drivers there's no reason why a 3G ATT/TM card couldn't be shoved in there either.
Not sure I'd be bother with more on-board disk space TBH.

ok really, /threadjack. back on topic....
So have you tried it yet? I have an 8gb miniPCI card just sitting around here that would be cool to try out if you find it works for you. Just like the others (and especially because of the work required to get the extra SD card running) I would imagine some kernel work would be required at the very least. As well as driver work. But who knows.. it's the ideas that count.

After taking apart my WiFi only xoom and comparing it to the 3G it's pretty obvious Motorola removed all necessary hardware on the WiFi model making in near impossible to try this. Although you could always buy a 26-pin pci-e connector and soldier it in to your xoom if your feeling brave.
Also my ssd will be here tomorrow 4/19 so we will see
So its the big day (19th) any good news yet? Really interested in this! Hope you pull it out! Think this will involve some kernel work as well? Maybe BigRushDog can help?

But isn't he doing it to his 3g xoom? Not the wifi.
I wouldn't mind hearing about an update on this.
Same, how's the work going?

Very interesting topic!
I guess no news isn't always good news??? I hope there is some progress on this, would be nice to use when i don't want 3g/4g on my xoom anymore...
4/20 Update
For those waiting for an update yesterday I apologize, work was crazy and I didn't really have any free time.
As of today all I can say is stay tuned..... I've contacted a few forum members on the topic for some more insight on the next step and once I know more so will you.
First of all hi, I'm new here
I'm searching for the Micro SD Card already installed in my LG G2(16GB), I know that this phone doesnt have Micro SD Slot, but there !MUST! be a Micro SD Card. For example same situation was with my HTC Surround, there was no additional SD Card Slot, but when I dissambled the phone i found the slot, chandet SD card with new 32 GB card and everything worked very well.
so please help, and sorry for my English, I know I made a lot of mistakes
Don't think it's like that in the G2. Internal memory is not an SD card but a memory module soldered directly onto the motherboard.

I think you got it right in that sentence I'm afraid. Memory is usually soldered straight to the main board in the phone.. Not removable or replaceable.. I may be wrong but that's 99% likely from what I know..
So sorry but you're stuck with what you've got!

Lol okay i guess if you keep it have fun with it i guess
Sorry for my English first of all, based on what you have said, you just randomly "picked" it up in the airport out of nowhere, which probably not your fault, ethically.
Now, about the SD card, I'm sure it's there inside the phone, probably right underneath of the PCB board or maybe it's even inside one of those layers. Rip it apart and check it out.

Agreed. But make sure you take all of the shields etc off to make sure it's not hiding under one of them.
Its invisable.
before you mess up the device
<common sense mode on>
don't you think someone would already found it and post the image on the internet and the news would be allover the android portals? (xda, android central ...)
<common sense mode off>
which variant of the g2 is it?
because i think that only korean variant has a separate micro sd cart slot
anyway, let us know how it went
are you guys being trolls or have no common sense. Only the Korea model has the SDcard slot and removable battery. Since you found it laying in it's original box, read the manual that came with it.

sorry for the late answer
Is there any chance to upgrade memory or add extra microsd slot for LG G2 16 GB version?
I am running out space and this is only one thing which I dont like with my phone, I spend lots of time to find best ROM and to customize everyting for my need.
I was thinking about upgrading to galaxy s7 but I havent got time to customizing again everything, and I guess original ROM will be slower and slower with time, even on such a new phone like S7.
thanks for help

You spend a lot of time to find best ROM and customize everything for your need, and yet you haven't got time to customize an S7, if you got one?!
And which phone doesn't get slower and slower with time?
You don't need a phone!

No I havent got time for this,
which one is not getting slower and slower ? my LG G2 is same like it was in 2014 but only when I am using my ROM, on the original one probably would be different.
