that's strange. dolphin hd works and closes without problems for me.
batterylife is awesome for me, i easily get two full days with 3G always on and medium usage (phone calls, texting, wifi, games).
end of call shows for me everytime.
i use v1.0.0 since it's released. baseband 052 on x10i.
p.s: ignore the "sent from my... " stuff on the bottom. i was too lazy to change it by now

Thanks for the great ROM Trip. WIth Android 3.0 theme, it looks like a new phone altogether for me.
Only one issue that is bothering me.
Battery gets heated with the usage of flash, or play games or watch any video for 10-15 mins. I am facing this issue on ever custom 2.2 ROM.
I dont face this issue on custom 2.1 ROM.
Please help!!
I'm gonna try the MIUI from trip now. I hope the bb patch will work.
This ROM is heaven-sent, in my opinion.
Beautiful, fast, complete with very few minor glitches that I am totally willing to overlook for the sake of its awesomeness!!
I only get reboots when I exit Root Explorer, but being very accustomed to adb, seldom do I use this app anyway.
I am on BB 58, so yes, the BB patch works like a charm!
I have terrible battery life as well.
First install of 1.0.0 i had bb.58 with the patch. i would drop 13% an hour
i went to bb. 54 and dropped ~15% an hour
next i went to bb .49 and update 1.0.1 and lost ~ 18% in the hour
i have 3g on with good signal and no wifi or BT or gps. i charge phone to 100% and then turn off screen and let set for an hour.
with 2.1 i only lost 4% and i took a 5min call in that hour. that was on bb .54 with stock SE generic
any insight on this would be fantastic as i love the rom but i can't even leave it on my desk at work without it getting low battery at the end of the day.
not sure if anyone else is seeing this happen but my dialer will be the app that takes the most battery. the 18% drop in an hour had the dialer use 72% of that. so my dialer used ~14% of my battery in an hour... wtf??

It settles down later for me.
I am on Cobrato BB patch for .58 and using Trip's MIUI 1.0.0.
Battery was charged to 87%.
In first hour it came down to 73% (drop of 14%)
No settings change and next hour it comes down to 70% (drop of just 3%)
Do not know why but drop seems faster in 90s and high 80s and it stabiliizes later. Yesterday after 10 hours of normal usage my battery was at 58% (from 92%) so 34% drop in 10 hours. Roughly 3.5% per hour.

Maybe you should try "Force close foreground app" option from settings. Then you need to hold back button and browser will be exited.
I think you shouldn't compare battery consumption in particular hours. IMO it means nothing when in first hour it will be like 5% and next 20%. I think it is good idea to measure whole cycle (from 100% to 10%) and then compare these cycles.

+1 on that.
The first 10-20% are gone really quickly, but it usually takes 20-24 hours from 100% to 1%, with moderate to heavy use for me!
Now, I can confirm what I wrote in post #11 about Dolphin HD. Same issue and system reboot after closure using "Exit" in Dolphin, but feature "Settings->System->Button Settings->Long-press to kill app" works great
for me all perfect bb.49
using BB49 reboot is there once exit Delphi hd, no one say it is not perfect FW
more we have VPN is working other FW is not am not talking about open VPN
Thanks Trip, I am now trying 1.03
Works Awesome..
But
-WiFi hotspot wont work.
-long press home button and select app i want to jump it restarts.
bb.49
Question: I have backed up all my data via xrecovery on stock ROM and different baseband. I´m on 1.0.3 and bb 52 (54 before). My question is will this data restore work on this rom? (i want messages, app datas and so on..)
(This guide is for 1.0.3 to 1.0.4)
just do the following :
1) Xrecovery - backup & restore - backup
2) factory reset and wipe everything
3) flash the new ROM
4) boot in the new rom and skip all the wizards
5) reboot
6) xrecovery - backup & restore - Advance restore - restore data

It was like that for days as far as the battery drain goes. And after a week of that i had goto 2.1 and stay for a bit to regroup. I am now back on 2.2 (Achotjan_2.2.1_v010) and i am looking at only ~2-3% an hour.. even just after getting it installed. Leading up to this i did many clean flashes of stock SE 2.1 roms and clearing out all stats and caches so maybe something in all that fixed it. back on .54 BB
It is still strange as when i went to 2.2 back in February the battery was not really an issues and then it became one ... but not now so hard to say ... could have been a rogue app that has since been corrected in an update.
I am happy to be back with 2.2 and getting excited about the dev around current 2.3 roms!

Hello all,
I've had my EVO for about 2 months so far. I've notice just like everybody that the battery life sucks to hades. I've rooted the phone since then.
1st problem) Maybe it's me or it's a problem no one addressed yet, The phone will start getting hot when it is in standby mode. When the back light goes out it gets hot. I've check to see if there were any wild or un-needed services running and there isn't, and its not like McDonald's Coffee hot but very very warm to the touch. And when it does that the battery life starts at 100% and ends at 20% within 40 minutes.
2nd problem) I've installed two programs in which I've deleted since the time it happen. A Super User Permission app, the one that's gray and has the jolly roger look to it. The next one is Juice Defender. I notice the problem after I installed them that the phone will start restarting itself like every 3 or 5 minutes. I'll be in the middle of a phone call and it would go blank and restart. The only time I notice it doesn't do it is when I connect it to the computer while I have debug on and when I do a hard restart in which I pulled the battery out. The battery trick only lasts for about half a day. I installed those apps 4 days ago, both at the same time.
My phone info is:
Software #
1.32.651.1
Firmware version:
2.1-update1
please help!!!! it's driving me up the wall.
I'm no expert but it sounds like a rogue app to me. If my phone were doing that i would wipe it and start from scratch.
Just my thoughts.......

Try updating to one of the rooted 2.2 Froyo ROMs. Be sure to do a full wipe (data, cahe, dalvik-cache) before installing a new ROM, unless otherwise instructed. You're running an old software version of Eclair (current Froyo is 3.26.651.6). I've received considerably better battery life since the update to Froyo, especially with a custom ROM and custom kernel. I personally run both SetCPU and Juice Defender with no problems or any overheating issues.
Mostly it sounds like you have something locking your CPU usage at 100% which would explain the heat and battery drain. I suspect you may be having software conflicts using the old OS version. Do a Nandroid backup before flashing a different ROM so that you can rollback to your exact setup you currently have if you do not like the results of the updated ROMs.
And by all means, DO NOT flash an unrooted stock Froyo ROM (or take any OTA update). There still is no method to root that.
Yeah I have been debating the whole wipe the phone and start with the 2.2 OTA and wait till they root that. This is driving me mad, cause it's seems it knows when I need it the most. When I'm at the house it last and stay up like a champ, when I leave it starts acting up.
Which leaves me with the question how do you save the apps on your phone?

Appbrain is a good way to manage apps. Any paid apps should still show up in your downloads section of the market after a hare reset. I have no battery problems with the ota 2.2 patiently waiting root. Don't know if I'll root when they do figure it out because its pretty stable with decent battery life for me.

So today is Day Two since I changed the ROM. I have notice alot has changed, some things are new, and some things are working that never work before. It's like having a new phone all over again. LOL
I also use the instructions in the thread about battery life
Edit: I can't link it due to new user access. But its in the General fourm.
15 hours and I haven't plugged it up yet to recharge it yet I still have 60% left on the battery. I made 8 phones calls that lasted 2 mins and more, plus ran the music app and more.
I want to thank you guys for your help
Do you getting more then24 hours on a stock battery?
Do you keep 3g on and always connected checked?
You have to be a real light user
No sir.... by no means I'm I a light user. As I stated I use my phone pretty heavy and that was only day two that I done that.
Yes....I now get more then 24 hours out of the stock battery.
At 7am I unplug and jet out to work. I use my phone as a MP3 player for the car. 30 minute drive to and from. When at work I play games and make random phone calls for 9 hours of the day. SN: I'm doing my job also When I leave work I go to my gf's house which has no signal out there. I use to have to put it on Airplane Mode to save the battery. Now I just leave as is without changing it.
Total time using the phone in 24 hours: 14 hours
Times I charged my phone in 24 hours: 0
Battery Percent in 24 hours after 14 hours of use: 45%
Longest hours since unplugged: 2d 2h 4m 10s with a 50% life left.
Yes I keep my 3G on. I turn my GPS off and Background Data, Set the weather app or widget to update every 6 hours (Why would you need to know the weather every hour on the hour, Just press update when you open the weather app) along with other things I don't need running while I'm at work or even not using them.
This is with the OMJ Froyo 2.2 Rom update. The phone is still running smooth and as it should (in my opinion)
One minor but major problem to some I wish they would fix.
Multi-touch though out the whole phone. The Droid X, Incredible, and Nexus 1 has it.
Why can't we have it. I would be so happy if we can get that.
We all want the maximum out of our battery and the corresponding indication. Found this thread in Desire forum on calibration of the battery and can be usefull for Wildfire aswell....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755903

The wildfire has a really good battery already
No need to calibrate imo. Can last 2+ days for me when I don't abuse the wifi and games.
First feedback.....no noticable difference seen.....What do seem to help is to charge you phone longer even after green light indicates that battery is full.....For me than takes longer to go from 100 to 99.

How do you do this? I'm doing everything, I underclock my phone down to 160-245 Mhz, I turn on my wifi only when I have to, I keep my phone in airplane mode permanently, I constantly run on display turned down to max. And yet I've yet got to witness my phone going over 18h uptime. Do you run a custom ROM or something?

I find the same thing, and have even been thinking of returning it because it can't last longer than 24hrs. I have even restored to stock and hard reset, so no apps added or anything, BT/WIFI off and the battery life still sucks.

Yes I've tried openfire rom and wildpuzzle rom. Battery lasts as I have stated. I also use setcpu to set up profiles when phone screen is off to help it a little
Would also like to add that on the stock rom, the battery lasts long as well but custom rom is better
My phone is a stock. But as you can see, the battery life leaves a lot of room for improvement. How can I increase ir?
Not sure, but after rooting my battery life improved signigficantly, and it also charges fast than before... htc wildifire.
ok so i charged my phone to 100% and left it on my table untouched last night when i got to sleep, left it in my pocket today at uni without using wifi/games, just to check the time, is currently still at 99% with up time of 14hrs so far.
and if you want to maximise your battery life with stock rom, lower brightness, disable auto sync of accounts, disable 3g if you're not using it, try juice defender, i think that might help you guys.

Hmm strange, I have installed it and icon shows normally in application list.
I went through the calibration process and my battery life has increased significantly. Currently I have 5 hours and 12 minutes of uptime with occasional phone calls and some wifi usage - battery is at 99%.
I find that battery life is all about how strong ur signal is.
At home i get a full 3g signal, battery lasts about 30 hours with my syncs on all day, couple of hours of wifi and maybe 30 mins of gaming and about 30mins of phone calls.
When i'm at work and the signal fluctuates i get about 20 hours average.
When i was in a restaurant for a party recently from 7pm to midnight, there was hardly any signal and i used about 60% of the battery in 5 hours!
At the end of the day if the battery lasts for 18hours with all my stuff turned on then i won't complain as the phone does everything you need except make the tea!
I mean what's the point of turning all the smartphone stuff off? Might as well just go and buy a Nokia.

Hello Everyone!
I made this thread hoping I can shed some light to those getting very poor battery life. I was also getting very poor battery life, till I went and exchanged my phone for a new one. If you're getting very poor battery life (even after wiping your phone or installing a clean firmware), there is definitely something wrong with your phone or your battery.
I own a i9000m bought from Wireless Wave. I've unlocked the phone and am now using it on Rogers.
My previous phone, I was draining 25% of my battery to just get through 6 hours of standby while I slept. I had juice defender on and autokiller memory optimizer. I turned off all syncing and didn't even use a live wallpaper. My phone was rooted and also had lagfix (which I soon removed). One thing I do remember doing is not charging to 100% when I first got the phone. I did accidentally let it drain to 0% cause I had to use it right away.
After exchanging for a new phone and charging it to 100% right away, I was getting the following results. I have juice defender and nothing else. I changed my band to be WCDMA only. I even have a live wallpaper on. Last night my phone idled for 9 hours and it only drained 2%! Last night going out, I had a moderate to heavy (fbook, 3g, gps, text, youtube) usage pattern on my phone and it only drained 40% after 6 hours of use.
I don't know what else to say, but I'm letting those with battery problems know that the SGS is capable of great battery life. And if all your optimizing and tweaks aren't doing it, then you may want to consider exchanging for a new phone if you still have warranty.
I have a great battery life too in my device compared too the another smartphone i used in the past and now compared to Ip4 and N8 in this devices the bat drain is much higher. So im positive surprised with
the galaxy battery performance, i only use the push email everything else is turned off, livewallpaper and so on..

My phone came with JM7 firmware. My battery life is just excellent, not needing a recharge before a few days with my use
Running JPM here, with darkyy's raw metal ROM, my battery life went up by at least 40% - %50. I was losing 1% per 5 - 10minutes of usage, now its more upwards of half an hour of usage.
I think the phone has very good battery life if you understand what can cause battery drain and adjust it accordingly.
I am now gettining 5% drain per 24 hours on (almost) standby. This would give me about 20 days of standby which is crazy.
Here is my setup:
UK 16 Gb Galaxy S with Eclair JM6 and Voodoo lagfix
Set network to GSM (2g)
Disable internet usage (with APNDroid)
Disable WIFI, Sync Off, GPS Off (with power widgets)
Just before I go to bed, I run Advanced Task Killer and kill anything that doesn't need to be on memory (inlcuding Advanced Task Killer itself).
Using your phone WILL spend a lot of battery. Browsing the internet on 3g is a battery killer. This means that if you do something on your phone that maintains an active 3g connection, it WILL drain your battery in about 3-6 depending on your 3g coverage.
WIFI is better, but again you are looking at something between 6-12 hours of continuous usage, so make sure you only use it when you need it.
Finally, if you need to have your emails the instance they arrive, go for a blackberry because it has the only way of pushing email without maintaining a constant data connection.
I don't need this so I am extremely happy with my phone and the battery life I can get out of it.
I hope this helps.
Have my phone set for 2G with wifi always on.
Use wifi at home.
2G is enough for all normal syncs, and if I need more speed for anything else I temporarily switch to 3G for that.
This way a single charge last me well over 24h under normal usage. Don't even know exactly how much.
With the phone set to 3G, the same usage patern will eat a full charge in something like 8h.

JPM Rom with everything except bluetooth turned on my battery lasted 3 days with low usage (skype a few times and some phone calls and a bit of wifi web-browsing.)
Much better than my wife's iPhone 4... Normally charge it every 2 days.
I am very happy with the phone, just a couple of bug fixes and I would really like it if Swype did some level of contextual checking of words to help minimise unnecessary corrections (perhaps they do already, but it is certainly not well implemented/sophisticated enough).

Eclair for both. No Froyo.
what i wish to have is greater control over the phone, more easily.
Some kind of powertop GUI that let you see the power usage per process.
So you could plain uninstall apps installing ****ty services consuming the battery.
Likewise i'd like *real* control over which background services are running. I mean running an auto killer wtf? Horrible design!
I just want to switch off a service and that it doesnt start again 5 min later thank you very much.
Even the task manager is quite bad. You see last started apps but you don't know which one is running right now. And if its running and backgrounded since a while and you started other apps.. it might very well not even show up in the list anymore. Horrible design again.
Saying all that because stock the phone battery is excellent, installing a couple of popular apps kills it..

Sure thing. And thanks. KIES offered an update from JM1 baseband and JM2 build version. We'll see how the new ROM performs in about 3 days. Unfortunately don't have spare time to do that sooner. I suspect there's huge difference within the baseband versions.
hey guys.
i have galaxy s i9000..i also had problem of battery.my battery would hardly last 24hrs...i even switched to gsm only mode n switched off sync.but still had same prob..few days back i installed JPJPA firmware..now its wroking fine.lasts more than 35hrs...n also battery charges quickly
Is it possible that the reading on the phone is wrong? When you say you are getting 24 hours are you letting it run flat.
Alternately is it saying the battery is running low and you recharge before it goes flat?
Just wondering if the meter is simply giving incorrect information.
Been 24 hours since last recharge. Lost 6% so far. Running JP6 Froyo. Rooted. Network Data Off. During this 24 hours, just used Angry birds-30mins and ColorDict 5mins. Haven't installed any unnecessary app.
Had lost 1% on standby after 14hrs with no usage. Thats amazing. Very Happy user.
Also want to tell u guys that GPS with active Data connection and Google Maps running and display on took approx 1% of battery every 3mins.
Impossible using stock battery, this phone draws a minimum of 10% battery per hour the screen is on. Its more likely 15-20% with most peoples phone.
Your battery meter may be inaccurate, for example after flashing once my battery stayed at 100% for hours then suddenly shot down to 20%

I use "Battery Indicator" to check my battery status.
My screen is set to turn off and lock after 30 seconds of idling. So it is quite possible to achieve the standby times listed.
Hi, how long do you have holding time of battery, when you are using wi-fi? (browsing)
Yes, it's really official , my battery life is draining like hell... I actually hope that's a battery problem or a rom problem so i could fix it cheaply, but if it is about the phone , i'm messed up .
so here it goes, i've got that htc hero i've bought from a friend so im not entirely sure if the battery is well, at least it was when it came on my hands. I had the official rom, and i cant be sure how many time did it spend without charging because i did change immediately the ROM . Now i have froydvillain 1.7.2 installed and i can say that i putted my phone on charge before i went to bed, when i woke up there was 15% gone from the battery, not so bad, i guess.. the worse became after. i did the usually stuff with it, texting, one or two calls not so much, always not using wi-fi, bluetooth or anything like that at all. not listening to music... when i arrived home there was been 16 h and 20 min and the battery was totally off. when i checked up which program was affecting battery most, and it was the screen and it was taxed as 51% of utilisation, i dont know why , there was just 1 h and 30 min of using it, and i can say the my brightness settings are automatic. Im really getting crazy, i also turned of 3g, only using 2g now to save battery, what a mess here guys. any help ?????

Battery Calibration
Hi there,
I have 1.7.2 also and I get approx 2 days of battery life before it hits 15%. Light usage though. My display usage always seems to be approx 30-50% overall so don't worry about that just yet.
What i think you need to do is calibrate the battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Battery_Calibration
Do that and once you are on full charge, before you turn on your phone boot into recovery and wipe battery stats.
Should be all good .
Also are you running any overclock? 352-576 is more than okay and should help with battery life... Most people run it on smartass but I get screen wake-up issues with it so run it on-demand.
Give that a go then if that doesn't work come back and ask some of the smarter people for some advice as thats about all i know about battery issues.
i had setcpu installed with some settings, i already uninstalled it, i believe the settings were switched off , thats what i hope..
anyway , my battery is fully charged in 2 hours, is it normal ? it could be cracked, perfectly normal i guess. sometimes when im connected to wi-fi , it starts decreasing the battery level and i watch it lol, 71 , 70 , 69.... thats really strange in due that i see people using 2 days or 3 with normal usage. i believe that's nothing about the rom, im going to do that , im going to calibrate and wipe, text u as soon as possible to tell u the results
9unk, should i use the setcpu with those setting to save battery, im order to obligate te phone to use those settings, or should i just let it default ?
How did this survive in /dev
Also check any background processes.
My hero sometimes just drains like hell untill restart it (as I haven't found out which app yet) .
i believe there are no background apps , but if there is , how could i close it ?
Try calibrating your battery. VillainRom have a guide on it in their guides section.

i just want to note something, here you say you are fully charge in 2 hours, thats strange, mine are 4-5hours charge before its full.
in my experience with all is ON, i got 14 hours of battery life, this what i turn on:
- 3G Data is always on, no time schedule, it on all the time.
- Mail (3 account) and Gmail (1 account), (always on, with 15mnt refresh freq)
- Gtalk and Yahoo messenger (always on, cant live w/o it)
- LauncherPro Friends Widget (Facebook and Twitter, always on, with 15mnt refresh freq)
- Weather with Fancy Widget (always on, with 1hour refresh freq)
- Battery Widget
- Game NFS Shift 3D (15mnt a day, is a must, very love the game)
- Browsing (average 2 hours a day)
- and other normal process and background process (network location, contact sync, etc)
can you describe what is you use in your phone and please detail how much hours you get with your hero??
Mine was also draining like a hell , but i let it switch off for one day and now it works great . try that might it will help you
I had similar problems. Very frustrating indeed, but easily corrected.
Calibrate your battery using the above thread. Usually this takes a while, but sounds like it will be quick for you. Follow it closely and carefully.
Install setcpu and start with a conservative governor at 576/176. That alone should give you a day between charges. Play with these settings until you find something you're comfortable with.

about the screen, i have 5 screens, one has the calendar with my schedule dates, other has youtube and music app, the main one has beautiful widgets that only update 3 in 3 hours, the other has people widget and last one has just power control widget. I believe this is not too much, for instance i already calibrated my battery and look at my stats today :
Activity time : around 17h
apps tha use battery most :
display 41% (45m e 25s);
inactivity of the phone 18% ( 15h e 30 min )
inactived phone 16% (14h e 44 min )
Media Server 11% (14min e 53 s)
the best of this is when im texting there is nothing about the battery when i start to listen to music i can watch my battery drainly constantly, like 59,58,57 per minute sensivily. is there anyway that my battery is cracked or something ? or is just my settings ? i believe i have set all up to save power, i also set up my screen to minimum stats. another thing that i might let clear is that my phone really charges all up from 0 to 100 in 2 hours, really strange that sometime it stucks on 77 for instance other times is draining and draining and it kills me watching other people using 2 days battery with more apps than me
i dont know if this is important or not , my battery drains 6 % on rebooting , dont know if it is normal or not, but im totally sure , aint normal to got all the battery drain in 17 hours with normal using... please i appreciate any kind of help
If you had calibrated your battery, and if you already had uninstalled all the apps that drain your battery quickly, but still no improvements, I suggest you to try the following things:
_ Change rom (I had a lot of problems too with battery life on FroydVillain, I personally recommend Elelinux 6.2 RC, I got an amazing battery life)
_ Make sure you have Update your Radio to the latest version:
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/s...adio-Roms-Download-Links&highlight=hero+radio
_ Try different Kernels, if you are currently overclocking your Phone, I use flykernel 12a, but the 11c is excellent as well for battery life
_ Use sometimes, not set it automatically, some task killer like Advanced task Killer Froyo from the market, to kill sometimes too many running apps.
Make sure to flash the new rom when your battery is full, then recalibrate it again like other suggest you already on this thread.
I personally notice that, when you calibrate your battery, takes a week or more to see improvements on the battery life, so be patient!
Its good as well to restart your new rom fews times to reach the full potential...
Then, when you set up your rom for the first time DISABLE google backup, I've been told that drains battery like hell, don't set the brightness on automatic mode, but just leave it as less as you can, it will helps.
It would be better also to go to setting, under sync, and leave on the automatic sync mode only for the apps that you really need to run..
If none of this will work, if you have can, I would think to buy a new battery, I checked in an official HTC store once and I found it at 30 pounds...
I don't think I have anymore suggestions, I hope it will help you...

To close an app or clear cache or data go to:
settings>applications>manage applications>running>
and choose the apps you want to close..
I found a major battery killer is an area with no reception.
So if I know I'll be there a while, I'll put my phone on airplane mode to stop it constantly scanning for a signal.
Today i really noticed something strange about battery, i let it charge when it was off. Ive turnee it on, browsed over the internet and it was stuck at 100 % for 30 minutes, than it decreased for 96 in 5 min..
i went to sleep ( turned wifi off ) 6 hours later it was in 77 % ;( and the best part, i reboot it and it get in 51 someone got a help

That sounds about normal for most ROMs I've used
I was getting really fantastic battery life until today when I installed dolphin hd. I'm not sure why, but the moment I installed that, my battery could literally be watched dropping, even when it wasn't open. Once I got rid of it, my battery life then went right back to being great as it was before. The odd thing is, under battery usage, it wasn't showing up when it wasn't running, yet as it was the only change I made, and the sole factor in the change in battery life, I'm positive that's what it was. I'm curious how many people experiencing bad battery drain are using this browser.
i am using dolphin mini and dont think i have battery problem.
maybe you should try it.

Get a widget to turn off data with a single click, stopping it from running, slightly. I use extended controls

I have all these and my battery life is fine, I don't think you get what I said at all. I think dolphin could be the cause of so many people having battery troubles, as once I installed it I started experiencing the same things they said, and then once I uninstalled it the problem was gone. I am back to about 1% an hour drop hen in standby, however with the dolphin installed (even when it wasn't running and I wasn't connected to wifi or 3g) I was dropping about 5-10% just in standby per hour.
Hmm.... might remove it and see if I can see a difference.. but my battery life isn't even horrible. A little worse than before maybe. But I'm getting a solid 10 hours at least.

freex10 severe Battery drain with latest X10i official SE update.
Running Beta 4 after factory SE updated yesterday on my X10i. I have severe battery drain. 89% after loading the freex10 beta4 with apps zip install and a TI restore of all my prior progs. Left the phone plugged in and charging overnight and this morning it was 4%. I am not using any special browsers. I am using Advanced Task Killer and killed all the programs before leaving the phone. Any ideas??
I really wish there was a way to dual boot with xrecovery.. that way we could use stock SE during the day because it has better battery life, and when we are near a charger we can use 2.2
I had the battery drain problem where I was losing 5 - 10% per hour after upgrading to beta 4. While I cannot prove it I think the drain is related to the baseband upgrade and how it interacts with 3g on AT&T. I can't turn off data as this is my work e-mail device. After some experimentation I found that switching to 2g "fixed" the problem. I took my phone off the charger 4 hours ago and with moderate e-mail use, 1 30 minute phone call and some XDA and web browsing I am at 91%. I added the 2g/3g to the power control widget and can quickly switch to 3g when I want/need the additional speed.
One other unintended benefit I found from 2G. For some reason my phone will not drop in certain areas where I drop calls every time I am on 3g.
Possibly due to wifi?
Ok guys so I re-did the OE factory SE update and re-did the xrecovery to redo freex10 beta4. all went well but I was to sleepy to setup the wifi. This morning my phone was fully charged and ready to go. I came into work and turned the wifi on to use on our network. Phones been on standby and wifi is set to be off with the display. Its only been 3 hours and my phone is at 10%. Why is wifi drawing so much power even when not in use?
So far I saw many causes in 2.2, check my list here
> Dolphin HD (from this OP? - unconfirmed)
> Stock Email get partial wakelock with exchange server.
> Dialer - partial wakelock (you might not feel it, but it is, compared to 2.1)
> Dialer - drainage when turn 'turn to silence' on (Call setting)
For Dolphin, well as I trusted in android system, I believe there might be something else 'between' dolphin and the battery, I don't think it's the dolphin itself. Since it doesn't report anywhere between spareparts or battery usage, or even CPU usage. I must admit that 2.1 is doing better in term of 'system stability' (not about hanging, crashing - but to handle when something go wrong)
I also must admit that using ATK in 2.2 is likely cause trouble, I used to have battery trouble and there was no way out before I turned to ATK. well, thing got 'weird' (it was not worse) If you feel something wrong, 3G trouble, some stupid force close, try disable ATK.
I never used ATK in the fresh install. Posibly the stock E-mail however I haven't set that up either. Its a shame as the rom is real good and appears stable other than the battery drain issue. I've already tried the Xrecovery wipe of battery stats, cache, etc with no luck. I may just stick with the factory SE rom till freex10 is no longer a beta..

gotta give this a try
it's been driving me crazy wondering why my batter drains so fast
Worth a shot for sure! I get 24 hours easily with heavy usage... It's a lot better for me than beta 3 was
I use to have bad battery issues with this rom but then I install juice defender and it has done wonders for me. Task killers help but nothing like this app does.

I'm using beta 3 with constant 3g and dolphin hd. No problems. Batt drain is as usual with 2.1 original. I get about 1-1.5 days of usage, sometimes even 2.
