[Q]Droid2/x GB Launcher - Droid 2 General

Hey folks,
is it somehow possible to extract the new blur launcher from the leaked GB for the droid 2/x since the launcher seems to be quite awesome...
I mean, when GB came out, a few days later the stock launcher was available for download...

Noone?(filler)

You need blur as a whole to use the launcher

Yup, if you can find a way to poul down the entire blur framework and manage to install it in froyo, then you can have the blur launcher you want

Many of the new "blur-less" ROMS are doing just that.
Not sure if this is easily doable on a Stock ROM. blurhome.apk would be my first target. However, I would not be surprised if deleting it go you into a boot loop.
I would suggest you look into the likes of Rubix/Apex/Zapx/Tranquility. They have already removed the Blur home and replaced it with TranQ Launcher.
ZapX also has several revisions with ADW/Launcher Pro/Zeam as the default launcher.
Yes you can. The only launcher on my phone is LauncherPro. If you want to remove a stock launcher you have to be rooted.
What apk is it

so just delete the apk he mention above or do a litttle more trick to that? than a simple delete apk and so???? well i am rooted been looking around at the roms but nothing seems to catch my attention. tried rubix but didn't really click so just waiting at the moment so.
renaming launcher pro apk to blurhome????? maybe??

[Q] Sense UI for Droid 2

I've noticed just about every other android has this.. so I was curious. How hard would it be to port the "HTC Sense UI" theme to Droid 2? My dad has this theme on his Droid Incredible.. and my brother has it on his Droid X.. so I was curious. I really like the theme. Honestly, if it works good enough. I'd be willing to donate to a developer if they could include it in a rom. Currently running Squidly's FullBlur 2.3.2 deodexed w/ BigDX Serenity White Ported Theme for D2.

Patrick aka Pkbest
Is it Sense UI you want? Or just the flip clock? Because if the clock / weather is what you're after. There are a couple ways of getting that part on a Droid 2. I use Weather and Toggle Widgets app with h7c clock and h7c weather themes.

no no.. the actual UI. I have an awesome clock/weather widget already. No need for widgets. I want that half dome shaped home bar that it has. Wish i could just flash Droid Incredible's image over to my D2 lol
If you can do some basic photo editing you could probably make something pretty close and load it as a skin on launcherpro. Heck, somebody may have made one already.

Here you go. You must have launcher pro. Don't for get to back up your home screen settings through launcher pro so you can revert back. Watch the utube video so u know how to use it. No root needed. You must extract the navbar.zip to ur sd card to retrieve the images. Enjoy.

[Q] Question on royal 1.5 new rom

I just loaded the new 1.5 royal ginger rom and have a lil issue.
How on earth do you change the base icons?
I mean instead of having the 3 icons how do i change it to like 4 or 5?? i cant find the setting anywhere in this new rom.
Any help?? thanks!
BTW team royal you guys ROCK thanks for the DEV on your roms!!
Royal Ginger at it's current state doesn't have an option to change the dockbar icons atm as far as I know. Most people just use a launcher like launcher pro plus, adw ex, go launcher ex, regina launcher or spb mobile shell 3d.
Royal uses the stock aosp launcher from Google. As said above it currently is not able to be customized. A third party launcher will give you that ability.

Home launcher replacements

First let me say I'm not rooted. With that out of the way, are there any home launchers that are optimized for this tegra 2 phone? I've used ADW, Launcher pro, and Go Launcher and all 3 of them ran slightly slower than just using the stock launcher.

Since dual core is so new there are no launchers or even many apps that make any use of the extra power

Unfortunately that's what I was afraid of. Has anyone had any success with a home launcher running fast and smoothly on a non rooted atrix?

GO Launcher EX ran fast on my non-rooted Atrix. There are a lot of settings for GO Launcher and I just set all the transitions to the fastest settings and it ran fine. I didn't notice any lag at all. I'm rooted now and I'm still using GO Launcher EX.
In fact I'm using all their add-ons for SMS, Dialer, Weather, Score, etc and they all run pretty fast on the Atrix.

When you installed the launcher, did you remove all the widgets you had on the stock launcher? If you didn't, they'll still be there running even when you use a new launcher. Remove everything then add the new launcher and set it up the way you like. Should be a lot smoother.
Also, have you tried Zeam? It's fairly minimal but quick.

Or he could just freeze the stock launcher with titanium backup that works well.

Yeah, I went through all the usual proper steps. Just for kicks I just reinstalled go launcher a few hours ago. Within 1 hour it started freezing my phone causing my screen to either stutter or just go totally unresponsive. Going to go back to adw and see if it happens with that

Same here. It's the best option for Android phones.
Do you think the Fancy Widget clock widget might be a problem? I've read that it does some funky freezing to some people.

It's a strong possibility.
Since my Galaxy S, I've stopped using all running widgets.
Actually come to think of it, all my current icons are shortcuts which is probably why Launcher Pro runs as smooth as butter for me...

+1
My LWP runs MUCH smoother after freezing all the recommended stuff I'm on GingerBlur 3.5 BTW
JUST ROOT!!
Running adw ex.. noo slow downs whatsoever
Xda app via atrix
+1 for zeam, I've been using it for months now and its very smooth. It is very minimal by comparison to most others though.... which is what I was looking for actually.
Im using go launcher and having no problems whatsoever... I also use fancy widget on my home screen.
Have also used both lpp and adw* both ran pretty good as well. I just prefer go launcher

Root, flash GladiAtrix 3, then use ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro. I use both. You will see a significant speed increase.
Hmmm I might bite the bullet and do that. What's the best root method for a bell canadian atrix?

Get to the french 2.1.1 sbf section and get to there... Its seriously fun
on a side note go launcher ex just got updated and there are some new app drawer animations that I like.
Sent from my Googletron
Ive used both Launcher Pro Plus and GO Launcher EX extensively, and GO Launcher EX has been the smoothest, fastest, best launcher.
I can vouch for the new update with the Icon Transition in the app drawer, its pretty slick. Good stuff here.. not sure how the GO team keeps this stuff free.
same as post above, golauncher is just as good if not better than lp plus, and its free. no brainer

launcher and jb

Hi guys!
I'm using latest nightly jb quarx on my defy+ With go launcher! I like everything but sometimes it's a bit laggy.. so i'd like to they trebuchet (can't remember how to write it down )..
But I really love the icon pack I'm using: miui v4 from tweety (The father of the best from so far I think)!
Is there a way to use icon pack for go laincher for other launchers? Can I convert somehow?
Thanks guys!
you can try the holo launcher (available in market).
I'm you sing it on quarx latest jb build and it works fine and smooth.
The pro version supports go launcher icon packs.
but before buying the pro version you can test the free version with adw and launcherpro icon packs.

I use the Apex launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher&hl=en)
Its pretty snappy and has really nice customization to it, plus it reminds the trebuchet (built in launcher of JB).

Thanks a lot guys!! It's exactly what a was lookong for!
Do you know if in Holo Or apex I can change the icon dimensions?? Because I'm using go launcher to make a miui v4 effect!
Last question.. do you know also a nice calendar widget? I don't like the standard one and I'm using go launched calendar widget..
