HTC Incredible S - Nexus One General

Any one looking into getting this phone? Do you guys think this is a upgrade from nexus one? I currently have the ATT nexus one but want to upgrade to hspa+ phone. Spec wise doesn't seem to big of upgrade but hspa+ and new snapdragon processor pushing me over. You think its worth it or wait for something better. I am really wishing for a evo 3g gsm version but I doubt it will ever be repeated in NAM version. Maybe AWS but that won't do me any good since I am in ATT. What chat think.

Bootloader is locked AFAIK. No flashing ROMs.

No way! What a shame. It's a nice phone. Will HTC lock all their bootloader on the new phones? I didn't know that. I guess I just wait.

Although it is locked, there are people trying to get S-off with the incredible S right now. I'm watching very closely as getting the Incredible S to replace my N1 solely relies on if the bootloader will be unlocked and CM7 will be ported to it. I do hate HTC sense with a passion.

I went from the Nexus One to the HTC Incredible S. I was thinking about going to the Nexus S but I like the feel of the Incredible S over the Nexus S. The Incredible S has the same feel as the Nexus One....

I would think the new desire s has same feel as the nexus one since they literally look identical. But the incredible s looks very different to me...?

I haven't held a Desire S but it does look like just like the Nexus One. Probably feels the same.
The Htc Incredible S has a different design but the paint texture on the Incredible S feels similar to the paint texture one Nexus One. It's doesn't give it that cheap plastic feel like the Nexus S.

No Hspa+ with nexus s. Incredible s is hspa+ with micro SD card.

The Incredible "S" is now available in negrielectronics.com (in fact, two versions: S710A and S710E; A = UMTS 850/1900), and yes, it supports HSPA+ 14.4 and Front Facing Camera

The Incredible S has promise, but I'm not interested if I can't install Cyanogen.

Jumping from Aria to Inspire?

Anyone else thinking of getting the inspire or any new 4G phone?
Don't get me wrong I love my Aria, its one of the best phone I've own. With that said I'm leaning towards the Inspire aka Desire HD.
Just want to see what you guys think.

Oh I'll definitely be jumping on the Inspire. I don't know if its gonna be my primary though until someone can get it rooted. I fear its gonna have an Hboot that hasn't been cracked yet but once it gets rooted and has CM going on it its gonna be a beast!

The Desire HD has been out and is rooted and has CM 7. I predict that on 2/13/2011 you will be able to root and install CM 7 on the Inspire by that evening.
I can only hope that it has the same hboot as the European one

Nope, It is confirmed that the Hboot on the Inspire is different than the DesireHD. "HBOOT-0.85.0019" on the inspire, which has the exploit used for the desireHD patched. but there may be another way that will be tried feb 13th

Its a great device, but i personally hate the cheap plasticy feel of it and gps works when it wants but not all the time, other then that its fast and has great battery life. but the lack of CM7/AOSP is a downside in my opinion. so im selling it and getting the inspire.

I personally would hold out for the inspire. my wife has the captivate and its been enough to convince both of us that we'll never buy another samsung phone.

Thanks! I've been greatly pleased with my aria but just looking around . Can you recommend me any phone with a keyboard that would be close to being as good as the aria or better?
I came from a sidekick so the Aria is my first real smart phone, but i do miss the keyboard.

No the captivate is not better then the aria for a phone in my opinion, but it depends on what u want to use it for. its better for battery life, web browsing, and gaming..but i wouldn't buy another samsung..I would personally reccomend the Inspire if u want a bigger screen. and if your looking for a keyboard
go with the NAM (BELL) Desire Z. works perfectly on att 3g if u get it unlocked
i'm totally getting an inspire, especially since i have an upgrade available on my account so it should only be $99...don't know if i'm going to sell my aria right away or not though.
speaking of selling my aria, anyone ever use http://swappa.com?

Try these Windows Phones - all have keyboards. I almost went with a Windows Phone, but the price was prohibitive for me (I got the Aria free on upgrade).

Yeah guys, I would not buy the Inspire the day it comes out until a confirmed working root is known. It comes stock Android 2.2 and it is a little trickier to root.

Oh.. right. Just "Incredible" made me think towards Droid Incredible.
I'm going to probably say, if you want to fully mod your phone get the Nexus S. Reports say that Incredible S
Developers with a slightly cheeky slant will be pretty disappointed to know that the new HTC Incredible S will ship with a failsafe system that is similar to that as the HTC Thunderbolt. Basically, by locking down the phone, developers are unable to change the device OS in any way. It is also interesting to note that the failsafe was installed by the good people at HTC instead of Verizon, where it will also include a check for the signature of the recovery image

Of course this can be all bypassed (unless its going to be extreme like Motorola). But Nexus S already has a modding community and its growing.
If you like the HD recording and pretty cool rotating capacitive buttons, then the Incredible S, otherwise, (I think) the Nexus S is a better phone.
Already decided to go for nexus s. Thanks to kenvan19

Mytouch 4g slide and G2 owners

So, who here will consider jumping ship when the mt4g slider comes out? Screen specs I think are the same as the g2, but its dual core 1.2ghz, 768ram, 8mp cam are the biggest changes I can remember off the top of my head.
I would consider the change if the battery is bigger, and the slide keyboard is stronger than the G2. What about you?
Nonsense!
Maybe if it has decent design. And not too many qc issues like mytouch 4g.
And if I have the money of course..
I sure aint the g2 is one of the first phones i ever had that was so well rounded. Gonna stick with this one for awhile cause the chances i will like every aspect of another phone are slim.
If performance is anything like the G2x then yes. That thing is soo insanely fast.
I would like a bigger screen though. So we'll see when its anounced.
Think I'm gonna trade for the sensation. That is and amazing piece of hardware.

It's got to have a hardware keyboard for me though. While the MT4GS is tempting, I'd rather not pay full price for one of these phones; I'll just wait til October for the 1 year upgrade and see what's available then personally.

I'm going to wait a while also. the g2 is a very nice phone, goood camera, excellent radios. if and when LTE services come to tmobile, I may upgrade. I will not buy into the 4G marketing fluff.

why would you want a nexus s 4g?

i dont understand why people would want to switch to the nexus s 4g from the evo. It may be a little more up to date but its just AOSP. Evo can be rooted to AOSP too and many other types. I went over to the nexus s forum for t-mobile and all it is is aosp roms and it looks boring. I know it has a very nice screen and i like keeping up with the latest phones but i feel like thats not a big enough reason to switch, i see everyone drooling over this thing and i dont know why
Im board with the EVO
They convinced themselves it's better than a evo3d. And it's smaller so it fits in their purses/manbags better
I got two upgrades so I'm getting both, and yea it'll fit perfectly in my "European shoulder bag".
its a satchel.
EVO4G much?

We don't know if it is or not. Shouldn't make assumptions.
only reason id get 1 is cause the updates come straight from google.
Look on the bright side, it'll get me out of the evo forums.
1. Why do you care so much?
2. The Nexus S has had a fully working 2.3 ROM since December. CM7 is still not as stable, and just recently ironed out some major basic bugs. This will be the case for pretty much every major Android release.

I was going to get one, but I can't justify the money for a marginal upgrade. I'll wait for at least the EVO 3D before I decide. I'm content with the EVO until then.
I REALLY wish that Sprint was getting the Sensation instead of the EVO 3D
More likely verizon pushing them in that direction.

The reason I would like a Nexus S 4g is because it's AOSP and it gets updates straight from google. I love my Evo 4g but I'd like fully working AOSP. No waiting for updates from a manufacturer. That is worth it in my view.

I'm hoping the next Google device will be a dual core beast and comes to sprint...then maybe ill trade in my evo...the 3d doesn't interest me much besides that qhd screen (maybe Sammy can provide a qhd super amolled plus for smiles)

Tired of waiting need help please!

I have an OG EVO with sprint. had it for 2 years need a new one now I think. What phone can play games like GTA, bigger screen than 4.3", bigger battery, and ics/jb and good dev support and not eol'd. If such a phone exists.
Also I want off of sprint. I'm wanting to get an unlocked phone off eBay. One I can use on TMobile.
All answers appreciated.
Thanks for any and all help!

Well, the 8GB N4 is your best cheapest option at $320ish after tax and shipping.
Otherwise, on T-Mobile I'd try to pick up a used T-Mobile Galaxy S2 or HTC One S. You should be able to get one for $200-250 and they should do what you want. The Galaxy Nexus could also be an option but it might be harder to get one for under $250. That said, it has a less capable CPU/GPU than the other two(the OneS has the best one), but a bigger and arguably better screen and obviously the best dev support and upgrade path. None of them will impress you with their batteries though. That's the price of these 4.3+ screens. You'll have to get a huge aftermarket battery to get around it.

Lol just though it was kinda funny and random.
Anyways I think a good phone would be the Motorola Atrix 2 (sells new at $250 now). Since you would be on tmobile it doesn't have access to their older 4G (1900 MHz band) networks but T-Mobile has rapidly refarmed their spectrum to allow for the 1700 MHz that the Atrix 2 is capable of
