So it seems like every live wallpaper slows my phone down, bigtime. All animations are VERY choppy and laggy. Seems to happen to other people using the HD2 with Android as well. Any known fix?
dont use the lives, kills batt anyways!
I don't care about battery. I'm always close to a charger.
What build/kernel are you using? Obviously the live wallpaper is going to use more system resources and slow you down a bit as well as use more battery, but it shouldn't be too bad. try overclocking your processor with setcpu that could help. Also, try restarting after applying the wallpaper or killing some background apps that you aren't using to free up memory. I love the live wallpapers too but I prefer speed and performance instead.

Using the HD2 Nexus build (with the G-Sensor fix). Kernel is 2.6.32.15r8.2.
Even at 1.13GHz with performance governer enabled this happens to me too.
It's not terrible though, the animations just look choppy.

Yeah, it's annoying as hell.
See above for my kernel version...I really want to fix this. Seems almost like a video driver issue.
mine are fine with lives on, still smooth as before...must be lucky!

I presume setcpu is a Market app?
Come to think of it this could be a stagefright issue. Not 100% familiar with it but i know it has something to do with video playback and chopiness, and there is a way to enable/disable it.

You can buy it on the market as 'donationware' but you can install it from the APK here.

Yes in market it's $2.99 or it's free to xda members you just have to find the thread, make sure you read some instructions on it first

using vbn win rom 2.12.50.2 radio, to be honest ivew tried so many droid builds i dont know what im using!says 2.2 hd2 android pimped by CMYLXGO,kernal 2.6.32.15r8? sorry dont know more then that!!amazing build, 2 days battery, so smooth and quick!!
Hm, I'm using the HD2 Nexus build with 2.14 Radio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793924&page=1
That build. That is the MOST stable one I've found so far. The G-Sensor even works perfectly, quite amazing.
Well I got SetCPU installed, but I don't know how to clock it higher than 998MHz...
All animated backgrounds run smooth for me. Kernel is hastarin 8.5.1 and ROM is MDJ Froyo Clean Sense v. 2.3 (old version).
Also, I run my phone at around 600 MhZ and undervolt it more than the default MDJ ROMs. Everything still runs smoothly. So it really should be running 100% smoothly on your phone - if it isn't, something is wrong with your ROM combination.
any way to make it smoother like it was on 6.1 ? it was bugging me since cm7 was released.
its MUCH smoother with latest kernel.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
If you want cm7 i prefer for you for now #18 release. It is working on old kernel but IT WORK... I'm using this release but i flashed kernel 4.1 you should too. The new kernel is amazing fast and smooth but is still bootloop and we must weit.

Im using RC2 with 4.2 kernel, but the notification bar is still laggish/choppy.

i dont have a flashable version of it, but it's included in the latest nightlies (but be careful, if you dont follow instructions in the thread you may bootloop - nightly #25 seems to be your best bet)
i dont think choppiness went away with #21 and later. im using smartass governor and still pretty laggy. not close to cm6 or sense pulldowns. i wonder if other devices with cm7 has this issue?

well its waaaay smoother than before for me, i dunno why its choppy for you.
ive watched some videos on youtube with other devices pulldowns on cm7 and only wildfire seems to have this problem. maybe its related to lack of gpu or armv6 cpu i dont know.

can you take a quick video of your pulldown animation if you have a camera i really doubt its smooth as i think.
here's a vid:http://www.mediafire.com/?3e17kzqy21754pk
Sorry its sort of big for like 30 seconds but i recorded with my ipod nano, and considering that its a VGA recording of a QVGA screen and that the point of it is the smoothness, i didn't want to sacrifice quality any more.
yea its slightly better on your device can you tell me your performance settings and cpu speeds?

JIT on, surface dithering on..
cpu is at 691/264 smartass, although i get the same smoothness on 518/264 ondemand as well. BTW, its actually a little smoother than it is in the video.
Moved thread to general as it is not about devving
It is only for me or everybody else because minicm lags much more than stock 2.1,nobody say that lags but lags.
So anybody know how to fix problems, please.
logcat
Here is logcat, problem may be enabled frame buffers that are disabled in 2.1,they are used while playing games but they does not work just make games more lagging not smoother.
Here is logcat
It didnt lag to me... it ran smoothly, especcaly hd games. But rachts cm7 is really good too

There's a touchscreen fix in the development section. Install the apk there and follow the instructions.
Ok thank u will download now, by the way, does upgrading the firmware get rid of this issue or is it handset related?

In fact it's a feature for better differentiate simple clicks from scrollings, so Samsung will probably have it in all his firmwares, and you'll have to install the fix on every wipe(it isn't permanent).
Well ive tried it and it still feels the same, quite juttery on homescreens??
App drawer and menu is fine its just a prob with the homescreen being juttery.

Gallery replacement app
Sir (",) kindly try with a Gallery-replacement app called "QuickPic", it is only 676KB and is free, fast and efficient. It has alot of good feedback in the "Play Store". Let us know if it helps. Thank you.
