any way to make it smoother like it was on 6.1 ? it was bugging me since cm7 was released.
its MUCH smoother with latest kernel.

If you want cm7 i prefer for you for now #18 release. It is working on old kernel but IT WORK... I'm using this release but i flashed kernel 4.1 you should too. The new kernel is amazing fast and smooth but is still bootloop and we must weit.

i dont have a flashable version of it, but it's included in the latest nightlies (but be careful, if you dont follow instructions in the thread you may bootloop - nightly #25 seems to be your best bet)
i dont think choppiness went away with #21 and later. im using smartass governor and still pretty laggy. not close to cm6 or sense pulldowns. i wonder if other devices with cm7 has this issue?

well its waaaay smoother than before for me, i dunno why its choppy for you.
ive watched some videos on youtube with other devices pulldowns on cm7 and only wildfire seems to have this problem. maybe its related to lack of gpu or armv6 cpu i dont know.

can you take a quick video of your pulldown animation if you have a camera i really doubt its smooth as i think.
here's a vid:http://www.mediafire.com/?3e17kzqy21754pk
Sorry its sort of big for like 30 seconds but i recorded with my ipod nano, and considering that its a VGA recording of a QVGA screen and that the point of it is the smoothness, i didn't want to sacrifice quality any more.

cpu is at 691/264 smartass, although i get the same smoothness on 518/264 ondemand as well. BTW, its actually a little smoother than it is in the video.

So it seems like every live wallpaper slows my phone down, bigtime. All animations are VERY choppy and laggy. Seems to happen to other people using the HD2 with Android as well. Any known fix?
dont use the lives, kills batt anyways!
I don't care about battery. I'm always close to a charger.
What build/kernel are you using? Obviously the live wallpaper is going to use more system resources and slow you down a bit as well as use more battery, but it shouldn't be too bad. try overclocking your processor with setcpu that could help. Also, try restarting after applying the wallpaper or killing some background apps that you aren't using to free up memory. I love the live wallpapers too but I prefer speed and performance instead.

Hm, I'm using the HD2 Nexus build with 2.14 Radio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793924&page=1
That build. That is the MOST stable one I've found so far. The G-Sensor even works perfectly, quite amazing.
Well I got SetCPU installed, but I don't know how to clock it higher than 998MHz...
All animated backgrounds run smooth for me. Kernel is hastarin 8.5.1 and ROM is MDJ Froyo Clean Sense v. 2.3 (old version).
Also, I run my phone at around 600 MhZ and undervolt it more than the default MDJ ROMs. Everything still runs smoothly. So it really should be running 100% smoothly on your phone - if it isn't, something is wrong with your ROM combination.
I have been using CyanogenMod for a while now, but I want to give Sense another try. I have a couple quick questions.
- Are there any Sense ROMs that are a fairly decent balance of fast and stable? I can deal with the occasional force close if the ROM is significantly faster than another, but I'd say stability is more of a priority to me.
- I don't particularly like the Sense People and Calendar apps (I've found they're a bit slower than the AOSP apps). Can I just install the AOSP versions without major stability issues? If yes, would the Sense dialer still be able to pull from the AOSP Contacts app?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I omitted one thing. I'd say that stability is the most important aspect, followed by battery life. I know battery life is mostly determined by the kernel. Can anyone recommend a good Sense kernel as well?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I would try WarmZ 2.2 or Incredibly Re-Engineered both of those are sense 2.0 and are stable and fast. I liked both. But it's up to you!
Kernel wise, the kernels they come with worked great for me.
SkyRaider 3.5 w/Lou's #8 - slick....
4.0 is due out very soon.
Nils business z with ziggys latest bfs wo havs kernel is very stable with xcellent battery
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Z ROMs are nice, and quick, but there's been a spattering of reports on phantom calls and reboots. Hence, I would not say they are fully stable and dependable. There are also some quirks when using some apps (e.g. swype keyboard).
In my experience, you need to stick with 100% incredible framework if you value stability and reliability. I am a huge fan of both IncROM and Magnolia. They are both very fast in my book, and everything works out of the box, so to speak. When SR 4 hits in a few days it may be great as well.
To your question about contacts...
No, you cannot simply install AOSP versions onto a Sense ROM. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I've never had any issues with swype on z roms or had any random reboots or phantom calls (I'm not even sure exactly what that refers to). I've usually used the warm z nightlies. Guess it just depends on the phone/rom.

yeah, the issue I'm referring to is more of an annoyance. You know, how the Sense copy/paste functions cover up the Swype word choices when you double-click a word to correct it? It's the little things....Still, I am very torn between Z-ROMs and Inc ROMs because I do like many other things about the Z.

I use Swype. I also ask annoyed by that issue with the cut and paste option blocking the word choice/edit on MIUI. I assumed it was part of Gingerbread. Not so?

If you like rooted stock ROM then go ahead and use it.
I like CM7, but I like the smoothness of stock. The bad thing is the missing features
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I have the same problem. My theory is that CM7 is just missing hardware acceleration on the nook at this time (I think I remember reading this somewhere). Maybe a driver issue?
I thought they had that worked out in the first stable release? Maybe that was just video acceleration
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Video is fixed, but that my be a different part of the driver.
(This is entirely speculation on my part, based on my somewhat sporadic - and decidedly incomplete - knowlage.) My guess: there are 3 parts to the video "card" driver. 2D hardware, 3D hardware, and coprocessor functions. When they fixed video, they probably got the coprocessor functions working, but not the 2D or 3D hardware.
There is a good chance I am wrong, so correct me if you know.
On a side note, why cant CM7 use the video driver from the stock FW? It's still a Linux kernel underneath so shouldn't the drivers work, or am I missing something completely?
That makes some sense, but games(at least angry birds haha) work okay... So I dont know.
On using the kernel from stock: they probably can't use the stock kernel, because stock is based on Froyo, and CM7 is Gingerbread

MIUI doesn't have a built in feature to set CPU speeds. But most other CM based roms does have such option built in. Look for something like Performance->CPU in settings. There you can set a CPU governor too

He said ICS, we don't have any ICS roms with 3.0 kernel (because we would have to re engineer the rom.)
To answer the OP's question, i haven't been on gingerbread for a long time, i don't have a problem with ICS, check your clock speed, your governor and your battery. What rom are you on? And are you sure its not JB?

I'm very happy with battery life when I use Synthetic.Nightmare's SyNthetic_aospX 1.0.0-MR1SG. Is it as good as CyanogenMod 7.1? Hard to say, but possibly not. Haven't noticed anything in terms of heating, though. Newb, so not sure about kernels (except as they relate to linear transformations) but I think I have to be using aosp(x) kernel with that ROM...
My two cents
I am using Glacier_One_V_1.3, very happy with it. waiting for a new kernel about to be released.. and I am sure it'll solve a few issues maybe flickering screen/flipping lock screen and maybe the heating problems. Who knows
Battery life is good for me. yet thinking of getting an alternative battery. Maybe it'll get less hotter.
