Hey peeps, new here. Having trouble with my headphones or rather 3.5mm jack, maybe you guys can help out.
Having just moved from the iPhone to my new xperia Arc. I brought over the headsets, a klipsch s5i. However it doesn't work properly with the phone. It as though there a fuzzy filter placed over the sound, only when i placed the buttons in the in-line mic, then will the music ring clearly. It happen with headphones that have in-line buttons, please advise.
THanks in advance
Welcome to SE. That is how it is with the x10, and x1. When you take SE's headphones to use on another devise (eg. Watch movies on ipod or laptop), you have to depress the button to get clear sound.
The solution is to use half of SE's head phones:
Connect your is5 to the lower half of SE headphones, then plug to the Arc's headphone jack. (Makes for an extreeeemly long headphone set, don't it? Hahahaha!)
To use the Arc's headphones, pull out the top half and connect it to laptop to listen. But your face wil have to be real close to the laptop! Hahahaha! Woooo!
Lmao +1

Hey guys i just got my arc yesterday.... the thing is i am hearing static noice in the background when i am using the headphones.... both sony provided ones and creative ep630.... and the sony provided ones dont split so i cant use the bottom half and upperhalf method.... one more thing when i pause a song i hear static (like fuzzzzzzzz) for 2-3 seconds before it stops completely like how they should.
Is anyone else having the same problem???? PLease help me out as this is a really brand new one and i spent some hard earned cash here(no offence guys)
I don't get that..
Sent from The Arc!
i use a pair of Denon AH-360 in ear buds and the sound quality is awesome! far better than my ipod and on a par with my x-series walkman.
nice...... atleast one things clear that its not a default problem and its a problem on mine.... can i get a full mobile replacement????? I got it from Sony exclusive showroom.. And how do i take a complete backup instead of just contacts or something.... and how do you completely wipe out data from it ie the passwords and mails stored in it......
I use the cord that comes with my X10 and the earbuds from the Pureness.
The sound is epic! Love it The ear buds from my mw600 sound alright too, still better than the stock Arc ones.

I decided to buy one of these. I've had it almost a week and I really like it.
The thing I like most about it, is that you can use any headphones that have the miniplug on them.
The headphones it comes with are really good though. It's plenty loud and I can get about 8 hours of play out of it, but I don't think my battery is done being exercised. It's still new.
The sound quality is AMAZING. When I listened to my first song, the first thing I said was "Wow!".
I use it all the time at work to listen to music and not disturb others. After an 8 hour shift (using it most of the time), I still have an hour or so I can use when I get home.
Pairing it was easy and when I turn the headset on, it connects to my Kaiser within 2 seconds. The only thing that annoys me, is that after a phone call - for some reason the bluetooth will disconnect. I have to press the play/pause button to get it to connect again.
Other than that, I consider it one of the best things I've purchased this year. I would recommend it to anyone that wants an A2DP bluetooth stereo headset.
The only thing I wish it had, was the ability to change tracks/songs. Other than that, it's totally perfect. I can wander all over my house and it still gets good reception. There is absolutely no hiss or static. It either plays totally clear or it cuts out entirely. It immediately picks back up when you're back in range of the signal.
I second that. One of the best BT stereo headset.
1. exchangeable headphone
2. excellent sound.
3. can battery charge while listening (many other stupid BT headset will just cut you off)
The only bad thing is bad UI for volume adjustment, and no FF/RW button.

JAMM DS220 review
Hey folks,
just thought I'd add that we published a review over on JAMM: http://justanothermobilemonday.com/...-ericsson-hbh-ds220-stereo-bluetooth-headset/
Might help for people who have questions about the headset or wonder what it looks like.

The DS-220 is outdated now. The new DS-205 comes w/ an extra button for Volume control and FF/RW.
does the DS 220 or 205 use USB mini to charge?
i have the ds 220, the sound quality is excelent and its plug and play.
the only thing is that the volume of the headset is VERY low...

No, it use the same adapter as Sony's phone. The only improvement I want for DS205 is feature on it's 970/980 series like multiple devices handling and lcd screen for caller id. (Too bad those series don't use clip and does not have 3.5mm adapter)
Hi, I have some questions after reading the commentare from other users above.
On the SE site I can read that this headset uses AVRCP, what should say you could manage the tracks (FF/RW etc.) But you all say it is not possible, why is this? Is this another version?
I'm dubbing about buying a (new) stereo bluetooth headset after my Philips SHB7102/00 was broken. I like all the features it had and want something comparable now.
The cons of the HBH-DS9xx are for me that the headphones aren't replaceable.
But I also would like to have in-ear headphones (for in the train e.g.).
Besides this one, can you recommend other headset? I hardly couldn't find any.
Battery-life is also important for me btw. It has to last at least for 6 hours, but I prefer at least 8...
A lot of question, but I hope you can answer at least some of them
*English is not my native language, so forgive me the possible mistakes...
I have a pair of noise-canceling headphones that I want to use with the x10. They have the built in mic, with a single button, and also have the 3 rings around the jack/port ( which matches the stock sony ones )...
Well the strange thing is:
1. the mic button on other devices either mutes music, starts or pauses, double click for forward, etc...on the sony it does nothing...
2. it sounds like crap through the headphones..oops, altho, if I hold down the mic button, all of a sudden the sound is great, loads of bass, all good...if I let go of the button again, sound goes back to sh*t...
I've also noticed on the sony stock headphones, the mic button does nothing...nothing for calls or music.
Anyone else experience anything like this or have any suggestions ?
I have a set of noice cancelling ear buds (from a Sony Walkman) and they only work in the walkman itself, I've tried them with my X10 (and even x1) they sound terrible.
Did your headphones come with a specific MP3 player/phone? Have you tried used them in other devices or only the x10?

I had exactly the same using a Sony headset on an HTC phone. It only sounded great one holding the button. Probably the Sony headsets are wired different.
what kind of headphones are you using? I have tried using ultimate ears and westone in ear monitors with no problems. Spectacular sound quality, actually (for a phone)

Im using a set of Blackberry noise-cancelling headphones...I didn't get them with a blackberry, rather bought them from Bestbuy, so from what I presume they are a good quality set...they "3 rings" around the 3.5mm jack match the stock sony ones exactly...
I've used them in BB, Nexus One, and an HTC HD2...All have worked, even worked using the button to pause, FF music...
I know one the Nexus One, there was a setting in one of the media players that had something to do with the headphones, I disabled the option, and it worked...Can't find anything like that on the X10.
my Nokia N95 headphones work great on the x10. the sad thing is that i cannot control volume and tracks with those...
duh. wong toplc
Anyone knows what headphones + mic + control will work with the Focus?
I love the original ones!! but I haven't found any option with the same buttons
Thanks
I have broken my original ones and found out the Beats and skull candy which have a microphone are not compatible... sound goes through but microphone does not pick up sound.
I did find a few sites claiming compatibility with V-moda's vibe duo headsets and have ordered them online and will arrive today. I will post an update if the mic works with Focus.
EDIT; if you like my comments please give me a thanks

Thanks, please let me know if they work. Those v-moda's has the 3 buttons? in the remote control?
The original ones are perfect! I really like them even versus one expensive phillips ones with noise cancelling electronics
The v-moda's arrived and work perfectly. they don't have the three buttons but you can answer calls and what not... the sound quality is honestly phenomenal, they sound better than the beats headphones that I returned because of MIC incompatibility.
they are just as pricey as the Beats running you about 100 bucks but it is way worth it

I've tried the klipsch s4i which has three buttons for the iphone. the pause/unpause button works and also can skip ahead or backwards by pressing twice/three times. the mic or the two volume buttons didn't work for me though.

another headphone
so i tried another set of headphones. this time the headphones with an in-line remote that came with the third gen ipod. Same things work such as the klipsch, pause, play, skip, and backwards work. you can also use this and klipsch to answer calls but the mic doesn't work so its kind of pointless. the volume buttons don't work either.
i really would love to find better headphones than the stock ones, i like good quality headphones
Have you guys tried the OEM headphones from the Captivate?

Here's another problem I found, the standard inline earphones with mic and single button doesn't work.. it worked just fine on my Desire HD and nexus S as well as nexus one..
I tried 2 different ones, my guess is that the Atrix headphone jack only has audio out.
if you guys have found otherwise let me know how I can get that to work..
if in fact the Atrix is only audio out on the headphone jack I'll definitely return it tomorrow and get something else..
I just grabbed an iPhone headset (stereo) and made a call and it worked great.
I'm having this same problem. I used a pair of SkullCandy 50/50 and only got audio. The mic was still working on the phone, and the buttons on the headphones didn't do anything.
I have ibeats headset, everything works on DesireHD and my iphone. but for some reason none of it works on the Atrix.. beh..
I dug out an old pair of headphones that came with a Palm Pre, and the mic works on that. The button also brings up a menu to start a voice program. They do not have volume buttons so I cannot test that.
This is really going to annoy me if this phone can only use crappy headsets.

Was this a standard one that comes with the iPhone? Do the volume buttons do anything?
Skullcandy FMJ w/mic
I have the skullcandy full metal jacket w/mic and it works fine. Although when I first inserted the jack into the plug (*beavis laugh) the phone still played music out of the speaker(s) on the phone. So I pulled the plug out and reinserted while twisting the plug. Dont push too hard cuz it seems the plug does not go all the way in. The curve on the case near the jack makes it appear that it is not fully inserted. Try cleaning your plug as well.
Both headphones i tried stick out of the phone a little bit, and the same amount. Plus audio works on both, I would think that audio would not work if one was not plugged in correctly

Just tested and the volume buttons don't do a thing.
I tried "removing" vlingo and voice commands/search, but still can't use the remote button on my headphones.
might have bad jack
The jack might be broken or not connected well. It is a modular piece that can be removed without de-soldering if you take the phone apart you can test each ring on the plug/jack for continuity by touching the meter to the springy metal contacts that touch the circuit board. I would just do a return or atleast have att try other headphones. Im not sure about the volume control but the single button on my mic controls everything including media forward reverse and pause. I can even get vlingo and google voice search to come up ( a long press on the other hand opens the media application).
Old thread... but for future reference, Motorola switched the headset pinout on this phone and the Xoom. You'll have to ask the Cliq guys what they use, or you could wire a adapter cable up.
I can't post links, but look up the Motorola OH20 and motorola.com /Support/CA-EN/OMTP-Headset-Support
Wow, that is kinda retarded that moto did that. I'd never even heard of OMTP until just now. Seems MOTO is the only one that does this. Some 'open' standard. Seems the only way around it would be to use a B headset.
Wired Headsets Don't work due to OMTP
Well...
I am a huge fan of Bluetooth technology and have just about every kind of handsfree, however I was really looking forward to the 3.5 mm jack. There are some pretty impressive headsets available.
This is what I found about OMTP:

Here is an option I am pursuing:
http://www.nox-audio.com/Products/OMTP-Adapter-16
I hope this helps...

This isn't the problem. I have a xoom and the same headset can play/pause.
So, no solutions to this except for spending another 50 bucks to buy a new head set that's omtp compatible?
I have a set of ear buds rat came with a blackberry bold from work. It only has a single button but it does do play/pause in winamp and the mix works. There is a post in the accessories section with some options and reports of ways working for everyone.

Or do I stink?? :-\
What do you mean it's really low? And what kind of jack are you using in your car? Is it a tape-aux converter? Is it just a 3.5mm plug on your header unit? Is it a USB port? We need some more information.

You do not stink. That means that so far there's no way to fix that. There are some apps such as poweramp that might help.
Yeah, I have been looking all over to see if there was a fix for this yet. I started looking here a while back, but no fix. Then I posted this on the DELL mobile devices forum. No answer there either. Here's to hoping for a fix.....
Perhaps you need a headphone amplifier or some thing like that, how about a fiio e5 or e3?They doesn't sound very good, but they are cheap to get and easy to use,and dont forget the bass enhancement!
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
After u plugged in, u turned the volume all the way up on streak AND AUX volume up on your car?...U might be forgetting that your car stereo has seperate aux volume...my streak sounds better than iphone...
Some headphone amps can actually be destroyed due to the wiring when you hook it up to your car, like the cmoybb. I believe steves rom has a volume fix. The strength of the volume is also dependant on the build. At a certain point dell capped the volume. I know build 31x had it but I'm not sure before that.
yes all the way up on the phone as well as the car, 3.5mm aux jack from my cd player to the phone... I was looking in to volume+ but I don't know or dspmanager...
What music player are you using?
I'm using Mixzing and with the volume turned all the way up, I turn my stereo up to about 80% and it sounds perfect. Sure, it is kind of low still, but not the end of the world.
Ive had the same problem and couldn't find a solution, I recently upgraded to a Bluetooth stereo and its nice and loud using that.
yeah no fix, i see get an external amp as a sort of solution but that is sh*t imo.i havent seen another device with this lack of aux volume. there cant be a reason for it other than laziness on dells part? i guess i can take my spare streak go to the eml list and the audio and start entering values to see if anything happens. i too am in disbelief that there isnt an easy fix to this, its voulume adjustment. i would donate for a solution, there has to be one other than get an external amp.
I found that the 3.5mm port on the streak just plain stinks, had a tinny sound for me. I use the a2dp bluetooth profile, sounds much better + wireless is nice. Blackberry makes a gateway, you can find it for around $30-40, and it plugs into a 3.5mm jack (or tape adapter)
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I'm sorry but I think yous all need new head units in your cars, if the amplifyer in your head unit can't amplify the sound to a decent level from a 3.5 mm Jack, then it must be pure ****e... either that or yous aren't using you head units properly and you've not got it on the aux volume.
iz probably replacing the radio will get u a higher volume
why would it bethe HU's job to overcompensate for the crap volume out of the headphone jack?
i can plug a iphone/ ipod/ droid x/ ipad into the HU and they sound great. the streak voulume just sucks. it seems to be the only solution the the lack of volume is add more crap, i havent plugged it into the usb on the back of my alpine only because im not going to pull it out to try it yet. im sure i could make it sound decent with 600w rms going to the doors alone but that isnt the issue. i have to have my volume at 35 to get what a iphone or droid x will get at 18.
let me guess use them for your truck, i am but i really want the streak to be my all in one for audio, bt calls, gps, and car tuning once superchip releases the avid
Just seems strange, my headphones are proper loud, my little x mini portable speakers which are about the size of an egg are really really loud, how come such little things can boost the volume so much, but Your head unit can't?
Poweamp works amazing to tune the volume and up the gain!! Now if can just get dspmanager to work we would be good system wide!

My head phone volume is crap as well, I have tried 4 headsets just making sure I'm not crazy. I get the same results every time I'm running stock 2.2.2. I can make it loud in my truck but like I said it requires more effort that comparable or substandard devices. I have giving up on the streak as a musical device and will just keep the iPod rocking. The USB on the back won't read the streak at all, it will chafe it but it says no device found when searching for music. I'll just fill it up with movies and videos
