Ok After some tinkering I was able to fix Battery stats issue and actually find out a possible reason for battery stat issues pitfalls and random shutdowns.
Here are the Steps I got working after my battery reported wrong stats and huge pitfalls with Random Shutdowns. Fix is pretty simple but needs a bit of patience so here goes:
Note: I tried this on Overcome ROM 1.4.2 with 2.1.2 overcome kernel. Some users report that new Asian Firmware in GSM development section has this issue solved.
First: follow the instructions below to get a fresh new battery stats and recalibrate the battery.

If you have Battery Life issues, try this first:
Turn the Tab off and charge to 100%
Unplug from charger and immediately boot into recovery by holding volume up & power button
Navigate to Advanced
In the Advanced menu, choose Wipe Battery Stats
Reboot Tab normally and Enjoy a freshly calibrated battery
NOTE - Having the tab off is important...I notice that even if I charge to full while tab is on, once I turn it off it continues charging for another 10 minutes or so before hitting 100%. I believe the sensor determining what is a full battery is different in the off position and will allow you to get the fullest charge.

Second: Use the tab till its fully drained (you may experience random shutdown and pitfalls keep rebooting it till its COMPLETELY DEAD. We need a full drainage to obtain a charge Discharge Cycle. Press the power button to force any charge out and make sure the tab battery is completely out.
Third: Repeat the The Charge/Discharge cycle (mine worked after the 3rd time). You should experience improved battery stats with each cycle until all issues are gone.
As for the possible reason for the Battery stats issue I am suspecting USB charging from computers when we use the tab with PCs to sync or copy or flash ROMs on the tab (I started having those issues after tab was on laptop for the whole day as I was trying new ROMs and flashing overcome). I wonder if there is a way or script to disable USB charging. I could be wrong so feel free to correct me if I am
I hope this helps!
has anyone else here tried this method?
any success?
right now im trying the first part. let you guys know when its done.
just fully charged my tab.
got into samsung recovery. but cant find calibrate battery anywhere.
just
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition.
help
did the wipe cache.
hopefully this does the job
he was talking about the custom rom though , you can wipe the battery status .
there is app in the market called barry calibration for free you may wanna have a look into it
You can find it under Advanced tab in recovery, wipe Battery Stats.

milkboy007, consider your self lucky that I'm here to help you with a problem that faced me for over a month and i finally fixed it, which is exactly your problem, forget about all the non sense these people say about calibrating the battery or changing roms its all waste of time, here is the real solution open the tab and remove the battery let it settle down for 30 min and hook it back in and close your tab and you will be a happy tab owner again, i know it is hard to believe even for me at first i tried all the other methods the guys said with no hope, but now I'm really happy with my tab again, you need a tri wing screw driver and some other plastic case opener to open it for me i used a regular screw driver but be careful from scratching your case while opening it, here is a link on how to open it and other link for guys who had the guts to do it and telling what they experienced

Well the borderline idea is the same as you already know you have to completely drain it. Now never use any volt meter those people use to completely discharge it as the negative effect I already explained to you in that post. So best way is to do it by recalibrating so what you do is:
1) Fully charge it.
2) Drain it till you get 1%.
3) Go in recovery and wipe battery, reboot (batterystats.bin created).
4) As you still have battery low now let it charge till 100%.
5) Do the cycle again.
NOTE: This is what I would recommend but as we know the whole issue with CWM restarting while phone is off as you can flash the stock recovery and go back as it takes 3sec. If not follow the above.
1) Heavily use your phone so it drain the battery till its 1%
As you will see the low battery light flashing just so you don't lose your data save it by rebooting.
2) As you still have some battery power left you can now go to Recovery and wipe battery stats.
Or you can manually do it from adb shell by using remove command "rm /data/system/batterystats.bin".
3) Keep it on till its turns itself off.
As you may have guessed it still has power left so keep using the device till its drained completely I would recommend rebooting and going in bootloader as it uses more power due to bight screen as Recovery uses less power on display.
4) Now turn it back on again in bootloader till it turns off again.
It will keep turning itself of as no power left, this is what you want. This is safe way to discharge it without having negative adverse effect.
5) Now let it charge via A/C instead of USB.
Now when the light turns green unplug it and replug it till its green again, keep doing that till you see its green only. Now once you reboot in Android it will rebuild the batterystats.bin and you will be fully recalibrated.

First one is better for you. Do the cycle fully twice and you will be good to go and it will solve those most common issue like getting green light while its still not 100% or sticking it at 100% for long time and then dropping faster than you can count lol I just did it few hours ago, normally I do it once every 2weeks.
Alright thanks,
Ill try this out

I don't see a way to wipe battery stats in stock recovery. Doesn't that mean I have to wipe stats, reboot phone, switch to stock recovery then bootloader drain the phone? Will that reboot adversely effect the rebuilding of the bin file? Can I just delete the batterystats.bin file with root explorer before I power down the phone to start the bootloader drain process?

Sorry was asleep but yeah you can manually do it from terminal (su), adb (shell), root exp (enable r/w). Then power down as you saying you reverted back to stock recovery I am guessing you are on 3.0.0.6 supporting the 2.5.1.4 stock. So in that case just reboot and follow the same meth. This would clear out those lag (sticking at 100% for long time and then dropping faster than you can count) and wrong data (exp: 80% after rebooted 83%). I just recalibrated it yesterday which is the reason I spoke about it which caused this whole massive PM attacks and threads like this. Which is fine just do it once every 2weeks or once a month as doing it every week is not particle even for me.

Wiping battery stats help
I tried to wipe battery stats after my battery was drained to 1%, but nothing happened. I didnt see any scripts run that confirmed battery stats command had gone through. Was that supposed to happen? I'm really confused by this because I saw that my battery was drained to 1% but when I rebooted to recharge the phone, it showed that I was not fully drained. It read that I was at 20% and charging!? Please help guys. Thanks in advance

Thanks man, i greatly appreciate it. I'll download and see what happens
Hi all;
so over the last few months i have flashed many custom roms, kernels etc...and always had battery issues...i have tried jugs battery fix, wiping battery stats..following many other battery optimization threads..but i never got the battery life i once had (when i first bought my phone)...
a few days ago my phone totally crashed..wouldnt charge etc..and i ended up having to do a complete restore..i did this by following these instructions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRFJJFW-XxI
....so from there, i unlocked again, reloaded CWM etc and i loaded 2.3.4 flashable zip (found in the forums) via CWM.
and voila..battery life AMAZING....after 8hours im usually still at 85%...by evening time after using the phone all day im still at about 60%
from here do what you want with roms..
i loaded the alien rom without adding the themes..and the battery life is as stated above..
so if you are having issues try hard resetting the phone then re unlocking the BL and upgrading via cwm to 2.3.4
my battery life i back to amazing.....
p.s. would be great if someone else who is having issues tried this and reported back as well...
p.s. this worked for me but i am not responsible if you mess up your phone!
Erm..
Ok Ill bite >,>
Where are these camera buttons your referring to in this guide of yours Atrix has three hard buttons and four soft buttons power, vol- and vol+ and menu home back and search.... you hard mod a camera button into this already packed phone Ill like to hear it XP
Interesting..
Couple of q's:
- which camera button?
- unlock bootloader again? Once unlocked it stays unlocked.
- I don't understand how doing a reset leads you to unlocking the bootloader again?

it doesn't actually re-lock the bootloader. The BootLogo is replaced with the stock logo, which does NOT include the "UNLOCKED" in the upper left hand corner

well dont have the old recovery and even if i did cant read the things at all quality is very bad
me too really can't understand it properly, i need to get back that battery time, but How? can anyone else explain it Please?
Anyone except TC try this with sucess? I have Alien 4 with stock kernel and i am getting about 15 to 20 hours before death.
I could be wrong, but I'm fairly confident that the following information is correct:
Doing a factory reset on the stock android recovery simply wipes data, cache, and dalvik - all of which can be done with any of the after market recoveries.
I am unsure as to whether or not factory reset also wipes the battery stats in the stock android recovery.
Edit: It is highly recommended to wipe the battery stats after you install a new ROM or kernel. To do so the quick and easy way - charge the phone to 100%, reboot to recovery, clear battery, reboot. If is then recommended that you let the phone die (or at least get low) followed by a full charge 2-3 times to make the battery accurate. The most involved way to reset the battery stats is to charge to full with the phone off. When it says 100%, pull the battery, plug it back in, let it charge for an additional hour or two while still off like this. It will likely not show 100% after an hour or two, that's fine. Boot into recovery, wipe stats, start up the phone, then unplug it. Follow this will drains and full charges 2-3 times and you will be set. This helps to fix poor battery life when it is caused by a battery that will not fully charge.
OP you should try to drain the battery down to nothing. A lot of people who screw up their battery stats end up with bad battery, however at times you can get a very slow draining batter that will give you 20 hours with 60% left, and then when the phone hits 53% (random example), the battery will fall from there to dead in just a few minutes. This happened to me when I first flashed Ninja SF. I was amazed the battery until I decided to let the phone actually die.

Well, after i tested almost every single ROM in the development section, there was a time that the battery behaved quite abnormal.
First when the phone was charging, many times it "jumped" from around 70% to 100%. While discharging with only WiFi open, it often drop from around 30% to 10-15% and then up again.
I tampered with the Governor setting, but it didn't improve much. But I did found something that somehow fixed the issue and improved the battery life quite a lot and also fixed the "jumps" while charging and discharging.
Backup whatever you need (SMS, Call Log, Bookmarks) from your favorite backup program
Download the Stock Rom Official RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1 , thanx to nitr00
Reboot in Recovery (CWM, 4EXT, whatever you use) and do a Factory Reset, Wipe Cache & Dalvik and Wipe Battery Stats
Flash the Official ROM you downloaded, reboot your phone and complete the Initial Setup.
Again, reboot in Recovery and do a Factory Reset, Wipe Cache & Dalvik
Flash your favorite ROM (clean install) and restore your program, settings and backups
All done :highfive:
I know that it's somehow strange method but it worked on my phone running IceColdSandwich v8.8 and on a friend's (had the same issues mentioned above) with PACman v16.1. I had no more "jumps" and the battery life improved significantly.

No, I didn't format /system, but feel free to try it... As I said in the first post, it surely is a weird fix. But worked for me
Going to try your version and see how it goes.
not sure if this works with viperdhd as it format system upon install.
Why is the Rom in 2 parts?
Worth trying, but I'd hate to have to reinstall all apps again... any chance it would work with nandroid backup of current ROM? i.e. Backup ROM, flash stock -> restore ROM?
@OP
Did you ever just try to use the superwipe script before flashing a new rom ?

The problem with custom ROMs that battery isn't calibrated : ROM doesn't "know" what voltage is 100% charge, and what 1%.
An easier fix that worked for me
1) use your phone till it shuts down due to lack of power. It could easily work about 2-3 hours @ 1% level
2) charge it to full charge

I meant the OP, to me it looks just like symptoms from flashing a custom rom without a proper wipe and/or not deleting the battery stats.
I'd also not recommend depleting the battery completely, a deep discharge isn't good for the battery.
Battery doesn't jump on custom Roms with kernel based on stock. Like android 2.3.5 with either sense 3/3.5 or aosp/aokp with Android 2.3.x.
Still no reply saying whether this method helps or not? Where did the testers go.
I have tried this method but the results are random. On sense roms it has no effect but on cm/aokp/pa it works for a few cycles but after playing a game for about an hour the phone will charge in your pocket

Battery Jump Issue
I did read this somewhere in this forum. I am not able to recollect it
Download the Battery Calibrator..
Download the Current Widget... and put a small widget in your screen which shows the amount of current being used from your battery.
Charge your Phone until the Current widget shows 0mA (Green Battery Full Indicator or 100% charge is not enough)
Open Battery Calibrator and then click on calibrate battery and then take it off the charger.
Let the phone discharge completely to 0% (It should power off by itself of no charge)
Then charge the phone completely on one go till the current widget shows 0mA
Now, your phone battery should be good Atleast, your Battery Jumps should be gone by now
You can search for similar post, if you are not satisfied with this there are other options people might suggest
Please dont forget to press "THANKS" if this post helped you

Battery Calibrator its work corectly!!
I've been having strange fluctuations in the battery which I noticed and I was assuming it was some of wake locks or alarms causing this drain.
I also noticed the battery getting heated during charging.
The weirdest issue I faced is that every first boot after full barge reduces to -10%later reboots meet them intact I noticed this on stock rom and custom rom also, Also while charging I saw that from 93%to 100 %jump was just in few min which is totally ubnormal.
Tough my fast charging was turned off.
Hopefully it's just a battery issue I can't live without this device after giving it for service.
Is anybody else having these issue ??
I think its a software issue did you try doing a factory reset ? Disable all the useless apps? Remove the battery once in awhile? Jumps from 93-94%to 100 is not uncommon

I guess this has been fixed by resetting the battery gauge after full charge to 100% I had to pull the battery wait for about 3mins and put it back after this reset procedure looks like the last 2 charge cycles dint have those random drops after reboots, but I've the battery drains I need to figure out what problem is I get a maz of 4hsot.

@Pratik Thanks your suggestion, I already Did this, Flashed Stock was on Stock for some time approx1day could not bear it flashed our Rom all is good so far needs a bit or battery tweaking.my app usage always is 60%> so it may take a while for me to understand on how this can be fixed.
Disclaimer: This method has a chance of messing up your phone, burning your livestock, pillaging your land & starting a war with North Korea. Use with caution
First off let me explain what my Note 3 was doing.
The battery would drain in less than 2 hours & WiFi would drain it even more quickly. I figured it was a TouchWiz problem so I switched to an AOSP base ROM. That did not fix it either.
So after many many fixes I tried something different.
I'm unsure if this will work for everyone, the models I performed this on are the SM-N900T & SM-N900A
Step 1: Charge to 100%
Step 2: Turn on NFC, WiFi, Data, Bluetooth, Flashlight & set brightness to 100%. Now wait for it to die.
Step 3: Reboot it into the OS(it may say 2% even though it died earlier when it said 1%), then let it die again.
Step 4: Repeat Step 3 until it automatically reboots upon starting. Once this happens proceed to step 5.
Step 5: Boot into TWRP, it may show no battery indicator(it didn't for me) or it may.
Step 6: In TWRP tap reboot into recovery
Step 7: Repeat Step 6 until it doesn't even boot into recovery.
Step 7: Charge it & You're done.
Now my Note lasts 6 hours with WiFi on!
I can't promise this will work for everyone, but if it helps even 1 person it's worth it.
Let me know if it helps!

You should always calibrate your battery when flashing to a new ROM. There are plenty of apps that do this which is I believe what this method accomplished.

This is the Note 3 forum, says so right on the top. This method works the AT&T model aswell. Why create 2 separate posts in two different forums when this method plausibly works on more than the two models it has been tested on?

Wasn't my intention to blame him or anything. Just wanted him to know that there are a few methods out there in case he would have wanted to try that instead or for future reference.
I think I learned something today too, that calibrators don't work if the battery is completely damaged, which is to be expected

You should always calibrate your battery when flashing to a new ROM. There are plenty of apps that do this which is I believe what this method accomplished.

No they cannot calibrate the battery .
The battery calibrates itself .
See Battery stats Google engineers post .
Holy crap, i've been draining the battery completely for the past 3 hours and the recovery still says 0%!

Get a new battery, i bought 2 samsung batteries on ebay for 16$ and also you might test the charger, my wall charger (not the usb cable, the one square) was draining out the battery instead of charging it and it messed it up, had to buy nee charger and a new battery. Also found a deal 12$ for samsung wall charger and car charger with 2 usb 2.1 amp
Hello!
Guys, something is draining my battery while phone is powered off. Phone is slightly hot (around camera) also while turned off.
Thx for help.
can you help me?
Sorry you do not know how I do this if my phone says it has 40% battery charge and after it turns off, I do not know how to download everything if it only reaches 40% and it goes off when I put it in the charger says it has 0% Do you know how to do the precess? What is that or should I buy another battery?
First down load a battery calibration app from play store .
(This will not calibrate battery .)
Run the calibrator it will delete battery stats .bin
Use phone recharge if still a problem buy new battery .
Well you may notice that battery calibrator ,like the AccuBattery wont work on N3 so there's probably no way to calibrate it because of unsupported hardware
You cannot use any app to calibrate .
Calibration is a function of the battery and using it .
See multiple posts on the subject .
Not much changed , i see your method was once reccomended for users to do once a month . Btw is it neccessary to force it boot up to recovery manually after selecting "reboot to recovery " from TWRP without success ? Below is the time when my battery decrease from 20 to 10%
That was to be used as a one off to eliminate one very slight possible fault.
Calibration posts abounded on xda until Google engineer Dianne Hackborn put the correct information in a blog .
Delete battery stats bin ( that all a calibration app does)
Does not and cannot calibrate a battery .
