Hi, i'm using WP7 on my HD2 and I have installed blackSideSeven v1.4 and it won't recognize my location with location and data connection turned on.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance.
Do you get a location recognition in Bing Maps?

nope, it does not recognize my location.
that's the problem :\
Try turning locationbservice offin setting, reboot, turning it back on, reboot, and see if it works then.

I have a similar issue. It finds my location ok most of the time, but loses connection often. Yesterday I was using the App Drive On to directions to my destination and while I was on the Highway traveling 75 MPH, the app was showing me going 30 MPH. While I was at a red light, it was showing me going 15MPH.
Today I was riding my bike and using runkeeper to track me my calories burned, however, it lost me several times and it was doing the same speed difference. I was biking 17 MPH, but the app had me as traveling 4.3 MPH. This particular app worked fine in past days.
What is different from yesterday and today other than I rebooted this morning. I didn't install anything or change any settings.
Now I recall one more difference in WP7 performance today while riding my bike. That is bluetooth. I use a motorola stereo headset everyday while riding to listen to my music. Today it had horrible reception. I normally keep the phone in my pocket without any interruption at all, but today I had to hold it in my hand and still had a lot of interruption and while in my pocket virtually no music thru headset.
It's like the signal strength for bluetooth and gps has been altered or reduced randomly. Some days are good and some are bad.
Anyone have the same problems or solution?
Cheers!

Hiya, Yesterday I loaded Damage Control v2.08.1 and it's been running pretty smooth. Just in the past few minutes I've noticed the phone getting hot around the battery. I've never felt this phone get hot before. A few minutes later it cut off. I had to press the power button to get it to turn back on. Everything seems fairly normal now and it doesn't really feel hot anymore. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Should I try a different ROM?
I think this is a random thing..ive had it happen a few times on diff roms etc..

The ROM is fine I use it.
maybe you should take it to sprint and say it is getting really hot. They will trade it in for a new one. In less your over clocking it then you should know why it is getting hot. But I believe it is a hardware error.
Thanks for the input. The main reason I posted is because I used stock 1.5 for 5 months before loading a custom ROM and never once felt the phone get hot.
As long as it's a common thing I'm alright using it that way.
I ran into a similar thing when signal was low. A workaround is to turn off wireless triangulation in the location menu. Also turning off "always on" helps a lot, I forget where this setting is. I was hitting 43c a day before these changes, now barely get over 30.

the always on setting is in location (it turns GPS off)
Line got really hot a couple weeks ago. At first I could not figure out why, but after looking at everything I realized it said I was roaming. O was in a location I was always at and never had s problem before. It said I had been roaming for 4 hours. Restarted the phone and the problem was fixed.
Hi,
I've been using my nexus one for the last couple of weeks using google navigation.
I find on a journey (out in open space) that about about 5/6 times every 30 mins I get a large blue circle around the navigation arrow and an occasional gps signal lost message.
I've used by Blackstone/Touch HD in exactly the same areas before and never had this problem.
I also had a desire for a couple of weeks and never saw this occur.
Has anyone else had a problem like this?
Thanks
I don't know if you rooted or not, but after I installed CM 5.06 I have to put my phone in airplane mode then turn on GPS wait for a lock then turn airplane mode off, to get a lock.

Hi, thanks for the reply, no I've not rooted it. Don't have any problems like that, it's just it seems to keep loosing the lock every now and again before regaining it, not great when you are somewhere you don't know and it just stops for 30 seconds.
I guess nobody else has seen this?
Anybody else getting this. Don't want the hassle of returning it to HTC for fixing if other people have the issue.
I've had that happen driving down the highway. Seems to drop out for about 30 seconds or so. I always figures it was switching between satellites or something (I know little about GPS so this may be way wrong). It has happened when using maps and co-pilot.
I see the blue circle pop up every once in a while but I've never seen it lose the signal.
The blue circle just indicates that it doesn't have the optimal GPS signal to get a precise lock... but it's pretty close. I'm not sure why it does this though... once a GPS lock is acquired it shouldn't drop it just driving around on streets.
ive had this on my g1 as well... but it comes right back... its usually after u pass under a bridge or passover or something...

Yes, I've always had that with things like bridges on previous gps devices or sometimes in urban jungles (ie lots of tall buildings), but not 5/6 times in a 1/2 an hour journey in open space.
this might sound silly, but if you have juice defender installed, disable it before you go on the maps app, when i have juice defender enabled, i cant use my gsp

No, I've got nothing like that installed, but thanks for the suggestion. I've had locale or tasker running some of the time, I know they use GPS, but that shouldn't cause loss of the lock.
Ever since I got my N4, I've had a problem with the GPS not always turning on at the right time, and turning on when I'm not using it. I notice this mainly when I play Ingress or when using Google Maps, though about 1-1.5 months ago, the GPS started working just fine, and I was having no issues whatsoever. Then just a couple of weeks ago, it started happening again. The first time I had the issue, when playing Ingress, if I had switched to a different app, the GPS would remain on, and when I reentered Ingress, it would not update my location, and the location would start to drift, or if I had been in a different app long enough, the GPS would stop and wouldn't turn on when I reentered Ingress, forcing me to go into the GPS settings and toggle the "GPS Satellites" check box. Also, if I had been trying to use Google Maps/Navigation, the GPS wouldn't turn on and I would again have to toggle the check box in the GPS settings. About a month to a month and a half ago, it started working properly. If I switched apps while playing Ingress, GPS would shut off normally, and then when I reentered the app, GPS would start up again, and would update my location properly (same with Maps/Navigation). Then a couple of weeks ago, it stopped working again, and it randomly starts searching for GPS signal, even if I'm not even using my phone at the time. I thought it had something to do with the location sharing settings in G+, because I had changed a few settings in G+ a couple of weeks ago, but when I reverted to the previous settings, nothing changed. If I could get some help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Just curious, do you have the Yahoo Weather App installed? This app was known to break the GPS (until a reboot).
Anyway, I would suspect some app with GPS function is causing the issue.
You may have to remove them one at a time (and reboot) to find the culprit.

Done some research but can't seem to find anything on this,
Maps is showing as having used 44% of my battery so far today, however the total CPU total time is only 19 seconds and the app isn't open.
However GPS time is at almost 7 hours. GPS isn't turned on in location services nor has it been turned on apart from a a short amount of time when I was testing it earlier whilst out to see how quickly it locked. The time keeps going up.
Now this isn't really an issue that's having a major effect, battery life seems to be fine and all that. Just wondering why the GPS is still showing as being 'on' and whether it can be disabled.
Cheers.
John
The new versions of maps sucks in everyway. They went completely backwards.
I bet if u install 6.4 the problen will go away

Anyone else having an issue where when using Android Auto, the Waze app won't get a correct location until I switch to the Google maps app first and then go back and everything is fine. I've tried reinstalling all apps involved and still same outcome. Not deal break but still annoying
Yes, I do the exact same thing to "fix" the problem. I originally had the problem, it went away for a period of time, now it's back again. It seems Waze wants to use GPS but is in the background/goes to sleep - due to Android auto where the phone screen is off.
As a side note, my Waze also looks like it's got green hues everywhere now both in day and night modes. It makes the map background seem less crisp around roads and road names.
Same here for waze
This only happens to me when I connect the device when its asleep.

Hmm I've only ever connected it while its asleep. I'll try and see if connecting with it awake fixes it.
I've also tried having Waze and android auto being ignored by the battery optimization and still no luck.
I have also this problem... Still... It's very annoying as Google maps is working so I guess it has something to do with waze itself and not Android auto. I hope they fix this problem. I use waze for speedtraps etc...
