[Q] Droid X system version 2.3.340 - Droid X General

just installed the system update and i was rooted when i installed it. I just tried to run the wireless thether and it says error check if rooted. I'm not sure if it unrooted itself because the ninja supermission is still there. What should i do?

(Q) Phone says its rooted but its not...

Edit : just checked. My phone is running the newest updated but im gonna try to unroot and reroot one more time even though I already tried and it could not unroot.
So I went to install the new update via stock recovery and it seemed to work. I go check system settings and its still showing 2.3.2 and not the newest one. I go to try and root and it says everything works and my phone is rooted. Thing is there is no super user app that appeared on my last droid 2. What's the issue?

Try it again and use the 1 click root for 2.3.20 from here http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-2-discussion/5321-2-3-20-1-click-root.html

It might be that you just lost the app and just need to get it off the Market.

Yeah, I saw it was rooted and just went to market and got Superuser app and installed, I have root. I don't know why it did not show the superuser app even thought it said the apk was transfered.
Mine did the same. After I rooted using the one click method, it said it was a sucess. Tried to use Root Explorer, and it said failed getting superuser permission. Checke my SD card, and there was no Superuser.apk there. I copied it to the SD card from the one click directory, and it was sucessful. When trying to use Titanium Backup, had trouble with Busybox. Titanium downloaded a new Busybox, and all is now well.

HELP!!!

I have a droid x that was rooted and running fine. I installed the 2.2.1 update from vzw and now none of my rooted apps work. I still have superuser installed. I tried to root again and it says phone already rooted. Now I am stuck and don't know what to do next. Please help!
Thanks.
UPDATE:
USED Z4ROOT TO RE ROOT
Have you tried unrooting and then the reroot?

The previous post is the answer....unroot the device, reboot, and then, re-root. The best strategy is to unroot your device before doing an update and then, re-root after the update is installed. Updates frequently cause you to lose root. Unrooting before applying the update eliminates this problem. I had to do this yesterday for the new update to Froyo. Once updated, I rooted again and everything's fine.

I saw a post by Android wizard extraordinaire, CellZealot, over at MyDroidForums, who claims :
"... it supports root and is an excellent build. It also supports using the band unlock and GSM performance is far superior to the previous radio firmware. Overall this build is incredibly stable and without question the best build yet for this phone."
That's good enough for me.
Has anyone received this OTA yet? Nothing yet for my two in NY (one rooted, one not).

Does this update require that I unroot my phone prior to it?
Could any person who has received the update upload it somewhere, please? I cannot wait to update my phone and root it again. I have tried to update it but it keeps telling me I have the latest software version.
Scanned the net and no one has posted the update...hopefully someone here will soon
nottin in new jersey checked on moto droid pro system update whats up with this enyone got this update runnin thankssss
There was a renewal. Loading ...
:-(
Was rooted. Installed OTA update without problems. Then applications like Titanium Backup can not longer get root privileges. Ran Z4Root to Permanent Root again, it crashes and leaves phone unstable, most of the time freezing a few seconds later and I have to remove battery :-(

Blarg, don't like the sound of that. I'm nit sure that my wife uses any root apps but there is just something wrong with an android phone that does not have root.
I used SuperOneClick 1.7 to get root again after apply this update.

I second that!! Bloody takes them ages this time ... wonder why the holdup with some devices?? Its not like theres a million of Droid Pros out there ...
OK, so I can also root with SuperOneClick 1.7 after the update, but the apps like Titanium still can't get root from the SuperUser app. adb shell su also gets Permission denied (after reboot). Any hints?
Edit: problems solved by using aRoot. My conclusion: run aRoot post-update, not z4root nor SuperOneClick.
I lost root after the update and tried Z4Root with no results. SuperOneClick worked after I tried both root methods and rebooted the phone.
I am using AntTek App Manager to remove bloat without any issue. The phone seems more responsive and I have not had any random reboot until now.
Yep - aroot after the update worked. Re-froze the junk via Titanium and my Pro is running well.
For those like me who didn't know how to use aRoot:
Quoted from designgears
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981866
http://ponack.net/designgears/atrix/aRoot/
"How to use:
note: xp users, you will get an error about the TIMEOUT function, ignore it.
Enable USB Debugging on your phone (settings > applications > development > enable USB debugging)
Plug your phone into your computer
Extract aRoot.7z
Run aRoot.bat (run unRoot.bat to unroot)"

Easy ROOTING for BELL update 2.2.2

Hi, just installed the new BELL OTA update that is now available. If you have not received it, go to Settings -> About Phone -> System Update.
To Root, download GingerBreak from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
You will need v1.20 - install, enable USB Debugging, and wait. It took around 1 minute on my phone. Afterwards, if you were not rooted previously, download SuperUser from the market.
Can confirm this method works. First try did not work; rebooted unmounted formatted SD card, remouted. Then retried gingerbreak. 1 min approx to root, root confirmed with superuser.
Downloading now...
What about gladroot? It doesn't work?
Glad root will work, frozenfish is left intact in /osh/sbin.
(That's just the su binary with a different name, but the right permissions, you can adb shell, and type /osh/sbin/frozenfish and have a root shell.)
Cheers!
Worked for me. Takes a few good minutes so be patient.
Yeah, works fine to root and unroot, just have to be patient and wait.

I just updated (37.23) yesterday, there is no /osh/sbin/frozenfish on my Atrix
Now running Blur_Version.0.37.23.MB860.BellMobility.en.CA (build OLYLA_U4_0.37.23)
I had used GladRoot 4.3 to previously root the device. Now I'm wondering if it's going to be safe to run Gingerbreak 1.2 - anyone in the same scenario ?

Just thought I'd report that I successfully ran Gingerbreak 1.20 on 37.23 (after having used GladRoot on 37.4) and everything seems OK, I'm back in root mode.

I used Gladroot for the initial FW version, but I didn't want to chance that it may not work or cause any issues like SuperOneClick. I went with Gingerbreak just to be safe.
Put me on the list of the list confirming that Gingerbreak works with this FW...
Hi I tried to use Gingerbreak but the application was running for about 20 minutes and then it crashed. I was wondering if this root app worked for everybody and if maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I'm have a Bell Atrix with the latest firmware.
Any information or suggestion/solution would be appreciated!!!

Anyone having issues with their backlighting? Mine seems dim and sometimes don't come on.
Thanks
Just ran on 37.23. Works! Only took a minute.
Can confirm this works on bell 2.2.2. This indeed deleted my internal sd data though, so make sure to back up before proceeding.

I just have a quick question about using Gingerbreak on my Atrix running this newest firmware.
Do I absolutely need an SD card in the phone?
I don't have one so I was wondering if I can stil do it or I need to go out and get one tomorrow?
Thanks!
You need one definately.
Successful 37.23 update - unsuccessful root.
I've just ran the the bell 37.23 update.
I managed to gain root access again after running super one click.
However after I factory reset the phone all my root applications stopped working.
Super user was still in the app drawer, but titanium backup was saying it didn't have root access. (along with every other root app)
I tried rooting/unrooting the phone again with super one click and every time it hangs on "Running psneuter..."
I also tried rooting with GingerBreak and it just stays on the "Running exploit..." screen.
Any suggestions?

Root not working anymore

I recently rooted my galaxy grand prime, and all went well except for random vibrations and snapchat was behaving weirdly but it was all ok. I installed some root apps such as live boot and a bloat ware remover and they worked fine but today I downloaded another root app and it told me I wasn't rooted so I downloaded root checker and told me I was not, but superuser still works and live boot still works but that's it. Is this possible, what happened?
