[Q] Red Recovery - Vibrant General

Quick question.
I have had red recovery (voodoo lagfix for a while now) but i have been wanting to upgrade to a 2.3.3 rom and noticed that my 3 button combo does not work anymore. When i reboot my phone in recovery it does not go to the stock recovery. It just goes straight into clockworkmod recovery. I don't have to choose reinstall packages or anything like that to get to CWM recovery. Even when my phone is off and i plug in the usb cable, and the battery icon comes up and i try to boot into download mode, it doesn't go there but goes straight to the red recovery. Is this normal or not and is there a way to get back the stock recovery so that i can get my download mode back?

Well i seemed to have done something to get download mode back. But is it suppose to boot straight into clockworkmod recovery without the stock recovery first?

Not sure what rom you are running? If you have voodoo recovery should be red. Some roms have it when you hit the power button you have the choice to boot into the download mode

usually you power off, then hold all three buttons down. when you see the vibrant screen flash up the second time, let go of the power button and keep holding the volume buttons...for recovery not download mode.

With the CM7 Clockwork recovery you will not go to stock first. You will go straight to CWR. For download mode simply turn off your phone. Plug in your USB and hold up/down volume. You'll go straight to Download Mode. I hold the volume up and down then plug it in.

Easiest way to download mode is hold volume buttons and plug your usb cable in...

How to boot into recovery without adb

I noticed a lot of people having trouble booting into recovery mode from the phone. This is how to do it. With the phone turned off hold the power button +vol down button until you see the "Vibrant" logo on the screen. Once you see the logo, take your finger off the power button but keep pressing the vol down untill you see the recovery image. Ive tried every other way that people have posted and this is the only way I could get it to work. Sorry if this is already posted somewhere else but I couldnt find it. Hope this helps.
Open terminal emulator
Code:
su
reboot recovery
....Or are you not rooted yet?
And you have to hold its BOTH volume buttons not just volume down to boot into recovery.
- Hold both volume buttons
- Press power button
- When vibrant comes up, let go of power but continue to hold the two volume buttons
- Bam Recovery
I always let go of all the buttons when the Vibrant logo comes up, and it goes to recovery just fine.

I can second this. I am my own little vulcan deathgrip to press them all at the same time though, and still be able to release without dropping the phone.
You could also download quick reboot from the market for those already rooted, it has an option to reboot into recovery.

This ... or use the Reboot Into Recovery option from the Clockwork ROM Manager, which I would expect most Vibrant users to have right now if they're rooted.
What if none of this works?
I've a Vibrant (one week old) rooted. Clockwork installed KiNgxKernel-Vib-3-2.6.29.6 etc. However unless I use clockwork I can't get into recovery mode. Would really like to know a working key press combo if possible.
I read somewhere about some Vibrants being hardware locked. Assuming this is true perhaps that's what this phone is.

download mode

HOW DO I enter downloading mode!
i press volume button down, home screen button, lock screen button i let go of lock screen button after i saw the screen on and i continue to press it as long as i can hold and it just gets stuck at downloading screen i cannot go to select anything what can i do???
huh what? you want to get into the download mode? well the downloading screen is the download mode... its what you use when you've messed your phone and you need to flash it using odin.
Now if you mean the update/boot mode where you can apply update.zips, then thats volume up + menu + power.
instructions are on the wiki

with big pictures too
Just so you don't feel silly for asking, you don't need to let go of the power button to enter download mode.
You are in the download mode, you can't do anything with it from the phone, you put your phone into this mode in order to load a rom onto it from your computer. To get out of the dl mode just pull your battery.
You can just hold down the power button to restart the phone.
how do i get into Recovery Mode i seem to get stuck in the download mode i cannot get into Recovery Mode can anyne help me?

have you tried just taking the battery out? waiting a few minutes and then putting it back in?...
I stucked the same way in recovery mod, take out battery then back after 15 minutes and boots back to recovery where it not allows accept anything.
With adb command i was able to reboot into bootloader mode, and phone works.
But i dont have working recovery mode, cannot enter download mode, and the phone not rooted.

[Q] Can't get into recovery...

For some reason I can't boot into recovery mode. Yesterday I tried to flash the PAC ROM but got stuck in the "PAC is loading" screen. I had to turn off and flash back to stock with RSD light. Now, I can't get into my recovery (TWRP 2.5.0.0). When I use adb to get to recovery I get a screen with a fallen over android with its hood open and a a red triangle with a exclamation mark in the middle. I've tried to re-flash TWRP but that doesn't change anything. I'm assuming this is some kind of error, anybody know what to do? I've also tried to use cwm but I can't get into that either.
Also, how do I not get stuck in that "PAC is loading" screen when flashing?

The easiest way to get into recovery is to power down, hold all three buttons and select recovery. Try wiping data after flashing PAC. Make sure your boot loader is unlocked.

couple of things:
1.) battery could be low, and thus unable to boot up. I would suggest plugging it in (outlet, not PC). let it sit for 15 minutes. you should see the battery charging screen. after waiting 15 minutes, try to get into recovery via power+volume up+ volume down, then select recovery
2.) doing the RSD could wipe the recovery - are you able to boot up normally into the ROM? if not, make sure you have all of the drivers installed on your PC, and re-read the installation instructions (I'm sure you already have, but sometimes going over them again might open your eyes up to something you forgot)
I'm not sure where it is, but see if you can boot into safemode (google search for it).
my only similar experience is when I tried to install a custom kernel on PAC, and nothing would display on my screen (despite me hearing notifications). I tried several times to get back into TWRP, but finally got it after pressing the three buttons, waiting about 10 seconds, pressing volume down one time, then volume up once (the pattern to get into recovery)
hope this helps.
RSD flashes your stock recovery again.
Hold volume up + down + power, wait for 5 seconds for the phone to power off.
Then hold the same, volume up + down + power to get into your menu screen, select adb fast boot and flash your recovery. (fastboot flash recovery YOUR_RECOVERY_FILE.img)
Power + Volume Down (-) = Reboot
During reboot:
Press and hold Volume Up (+) = Recovery
Press and hold Volume Down (-) = Fast Boot
Press and hold Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) = Boot Menu

Phone only boots in download mode/recovery button combo doesn't work

Hey guys, I'm coming from the m919 forum, but maybe you guys could help a brother from another mother(phone? lol) out...
My s4 has been acting very weird lately. The button combo (vol up+home+power) doesn't work for me. If i try it, it goes straight to download mode. I get no gs4 splash screen at all. Only way to boot into recovery is through goo manager. BUTTON COMBO DOES NOT WORK!
If I restart the phone through the power menu it only boots into download mode. If I turn off the phone through the power menu, it will turn off for a second, and then boot into download Mode as long as the battery is in. I press no buttons. Only way it reboots "regularly" is when I get into recovery through goo manager and selecting reboot system.
Only other way to boot the system is doing button combo for download mode and hitting cancel when the screen comes up.
I was advised to Odin back to stock, which I did. Problem is still there.
The phone did turn off and stay off for about an hour, then the download mode thing came back. This is driving me crazy.
Has ANYONE run into this problem? It can't be just me, my luck can't be that bad.
If it matters, I'm running rooted stock 4.2(MDL) with twrp v2.6.3.1 installed

[Q] SG-s5 SM-G900P Soft brick: endless recovery loop

I just got an S5 and was trying just to get the wireless tethering for free into my phone. I installed the CWM and booted into that recovery the other day, and did extensive research for a few hours before settling on this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727127 to try to do it. Since it's a sprint S5 (900p) I downloaded it and everything. However, I went into the clockwork app to boot into recovery (the 5.x.x.x settingwas used) it simply is locked in a cycle of "RECOVERY BOOTING... RECOVER IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING... Set Recovery Bit: recovery" I have tried to get it into the download reboot but key combinations (vol up, home, power) don't seem to have any effect. Also, Kies and adb as well as odin all do not "see" my phone connected to the pc while it loops. Only time loop stops is when the battery is out.
Managed to get it into dowload, and now am put this recovery instead, as it should work under the guide I'm using. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697762

Please use more paragraphs next time, that was hard to read.
We would need a lot more detail to know what went wrong, but the first thing to try when you have a bootloop is to wipe the system cache from recovery mode
recovery mode: pull battery and any USB cable for 10 seconds
Then replace battery, press and continue to hold volume up + home + power
Let go of the keys when you see the recovery screen.
Wipe cache from the recovery on screen menu
Then reboot normally
If you still cannot boot normally, reboot to download mode again
download mode: pull battery and any USB cable for 10 seconds
Then replace battery, press and continue to hold volume down + home + power
Let go of the keys when you see the download screen.
Use Odin to flash a full stock firmware image..
same version as you have on the phone now (not older) to stabilize your phone.
If you still have problems, those are most likely caused by a borderline USB cable.
Try a different cable and USB port.
.
hes asking for help not asking for a grammer check....
1 thing is very annoying are grammer queens... chill....
