[Q] cmrc3 to cmrc4 - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Quick question, using rom manager do I have to wipe all data and cache when flashing from rc3 to rc4?
And how would u all rate nightly? And which nightly version? As I see a lot in rom manager? If I chose nightly would. I have to wipe all data also coming from rc3?
Thanks

You wont have to wipe data between ant cm7 versions. Just cache.

[Q] Can u switch from one rom to another

May be kinds of a noob question but, If I wanted to go from bonsai to viper to whichever other one I wanted. can I go from One to the other with no problems or do I have to flash back to stock dk28?

As long as the roms are the same version then you may switch. I.e.. 2.2 to 2.2 or 2.1 to 2.1.
All you'll want to do is clear data and cache on the flash over to remove the chances of conflict

Ok thanx, but do I have to clear factory data as well. Or can I just do dalvik cache?

No need to clear dalvik. The flash over does it alrdy. Clear the data/cache in cwm.

Wiping before rom installs

Can anyone explain the difference between a "full" wipe and any kind of other wipe through clockwork recovery? Thanks in advance

A full wipe means a full data wipe through recovery (factory reset), wipe cache and dahlvik's cache

You only want to do a full wipe if you are flashing the rom first. If you are just replacing the kernel all you need to do is wipe both caches, flash and reboot.

Do a full wipe and format cache and dalvik cache also
Then reflash miui and that should work

I did on recovery because it doesn't work on rom manager
Happened to me a couple releases back. Agreed with joemoss, I re-wiped data, cache & dalvik, reflashed, everything was fine.

Place 1.9 miui on root of sd card.go to .recovery,full wipe,installzip,boot up.fix superuser,orflash from rom mgr,boot up,then fix permissions.
Myt4g on pacquiao type roids.miui.panache.
Meant flash su in rom mgr
Myt4g on pacquiao type roids.miui.panache.

Yes, but next time please ask questions like this in the thread for the rom that you want to switch to as this question did not warrant the starting of a new thread! We already have way to many threads like this cluttering up the forums!

For me I leave it on charge and at 100% I boot into recovery wipe cache, devlik cache, then factory reset but you may get buy without having to do factory reset since although different it still is cm 7 but if you don't factory reset and it won't boot do a factory reset then it should boot

It does support them but not as a blur rom does cm7 puts internal under mnt/emmc and I think miui best I remember is the opposite. But mods can be done to switch them.
