Hey guys I'm buying a HTC HD2 and have a few questions. First off, I love Android so how smooth is Android (Froyo or Gingerbread). Also Can Android be the main OS on the HD2? I also want to try out Windows Phone 7 can it be the main OS as well? Thanks
Yes you can run Android and Windows Phone 7 as the main OS. This is called running from NAND as the NAND chip is where the OS of any device is stored, it is where the Native Windows Mobile is when you get the HD2. When you get your HD2 if you have any questions on how to do this just PM me here on XDA and I will help you out. But until then have a look at this guide and this guide on installing a NAND Android ROM to a HD2.Keep in mind though you need to use HSPL 4 and not HSPL 3 as HSPL 4 supports all SPL's including the newest SPL's SPL 3.03.0000 and SPL 3.10.0000. You have to take the same steps for Windows Phone 7 but you do not use Clock Work Mod Recovery with Windows PHone 7, you just have to have HSPL 2.08 and MAGLDR flashed to your HD2 to flash WP7.
As for your other question yes Android and WP7 run fantastic on the HD2. Trust me you will be so glad you bought a HD2.
I knew this phone would be better then the desire! Thank you for your help!

Hey guys i've been reading the threads for programs that help you run Android on your HTC HD2 and i was wondering in order to have Android into your HD2 do you have to flash it? And also i wanted to know if it is possible to run both WM and Android on HD2 and be able to pick which one you want to run on any given day?
check out the htc leo:hd2 and go to hd2 android development thread
Go Here For Info and i am runing wm and android !! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719646
I m assuming you have the T-Mobile USA HTC HD2 if so the answer to your question is no. The andriod 2.1 with HTC sense version runs over WM6.5. I have been switching between the two ever since a stable andriod version came out. to do all of this you must have HSPL on your HTC device....to check for this turn off your phone and hold the volume down button and then hold the power button until the tri-color screen comes. check to see if you have the 2.08 HSPL if you dont GO HERE follow along and install the HSPL not the rom unless you want to. then after you have installed the HSPL look up the andriod thread.
i was thinking of getting a miui rom for my hd2 but upon reading how to flash hard spl i came across something that said that not all builds are compatible with the tmo hd2 is this true? does this mean i can run miui on my hd2?
i saw this video an it seems his phone is tmo also, so can i just put any build on my tmo hd2?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRRWBp5l9jk
I believe you just have to find a certain HSPL first for the TmoUS HD2. I have one and I have no problem running any of the Android builds. There is a separate guide for HSPL the TmoUS HD2. I believe it was this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614 . As for the android builds, just set up T-Mobile APNs if its not already there, and if you're in the US some of them may require you to download Morelocale2 from the Market to change it to English US.
Here's another recent TMOUS build, found this on page 2 of this forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820696
Hi all! i have tmous, and i can use the more of android rom. Currently used by vbn rom, it's good because stock 885 mb and 443 Mb RAM and frees me up in it autoboot. MIUI ruins only problem I've tried the ringtones do not play I do not know why. The cyanogen and running and the evo is going to ruin. The definition does not always succeed in ruins.
My phone TMOUS
Radio 2.15.50.14
rom 3.14.351.1
I have used alot of builds on my tmous HD2 for ages, even without putting HSPL on my device. All these builds should work even on a completely factory device. Although, i think you have to enter apn settings to get data working for tmo, i have never used tmo so i have no experience with that.

Sergio76 CoreDroid v0.8 is a perfect build. It is available in 2 versions: TMOUS and NON-TMOUS. As I live in the Netherlands, I use the non-tmous of course and that build is very good.
You could read the threat first. There is plenty abous TMOUS.

Yes, you can flash ANY Android ROM you see in HD2 Android development. They ALL work with all HD2's including T-Mobile.

First of all, your question doesn't belong in this forum. If you'll post your question in the proper place, you will probably find more help.
Secondly, HSPL has NOTHING do do with android on the TMOUS HD2.
The flash update programs (and HSPL) will not run on a MAC. You will either have to use a Windows machine OR use Virtual Box with Windows on the MAC. If any of this is over your head, you should probably do some more research before trying to flash your phone.
I did some research i didnt know it would be a problem that i was using a mac... so i download virtualbox an then?
Bootcamp is your friend
ok so after i install hspl do i still need windows to install builds or am i ok with a mac to install builds?
first...let me be clear.....you don't need to do hspl, you don't need custom rom to have android on your hd2. all you need to have is a radio version of 2.08 or above...since yours is a tmous, it mostly will have a radio above 2.08
you run android from sd card, so all you need to do is to drag and drop the build of android onto your sd card...windows/mac doesnt matter for dragging and drop files to sd card
all android builds in this forum run on tmous well, so just stop losing yourself too deep into the forums, check your radio version..if it is.>2.08.xx....copy any android folder to sd card and you are good to go ! ..if radio is less than 2.08, then all you need is to do hspl, flash only a higher radio (no need for custom ROM)
hope that makes it clear to you
Hello,
I have a question about having windows mobile 6.x on windows phone 7 devices. In Microsoft, or elsewhere, forum they said that downgrading from WP7 to WM6.x is not possible just as upgrading from WM6.x to WP7.
Well, since it is been done to upgrade to WP7, I was wondering if downgrade is possible?
Thank you.
You can downgrade to WM6.5 from WP7. Just flash your 6.5 ROM as you normally would through the bootloader, this will remove MAGLDR as well as WP7 and return your phone to 6.5

Nope, I think he's talking about a WP7 native phone, so no MAGLDR no downgrade AFAIK.
PS. this should go to Q&A
Yes, I have WP7 native and would be most happy to downgrade it to WM6.5. I guess that it isn't posible to do it now, because there are no tools created for it, but it would be nice to know that it just could be possible to do it.
Anything is possible with the right developers behind your phone. Cottula was the savior for our phone!

Well, I do really hope that development will go, just a bit, to that direction.

I wouldn't wait for that to happen. The WM6.5 drivers would have to be created from scratch.
If you *really* want a good WM6.5 device, get a HD2 with a good ROM on it.
Yes, but the problem is that I have already purchased the phone. I do like it, but a bit anxious for new apps. I've considered HD2 long time ago, and I always had a qwerty keyboard on the phone (Wizard, Raphael, Kovsky, Xperia X2, Touch Pro 2 and now 7 Pro) cause I like it. But, unless WP7 starts to develop, HD2 is the best possible solution.
Thank you krazyakar.

Just spending five minutes in reading a bit doesn't hurt you know, but we'll help you:
1- SD Android doesn't overwrite windows, you're actually using SD like a phone memory. when you reset you'll be back to WinMo and will have to run Android again.
2- What's working and not working is always mentioned in the original (first) post of every build. From my brief experience with American Android, Wifi, Camera, and GPS are working, you have to try the other features and let the developer know if something isn't working well for you. make sure to post your whole info: HD2 TMo or EU, Radio, What WinMo you're using (not very helpful but wouldn't hurt writing it anyway), and what Android version have you downloaded.
3- As long as the radio is 2.XX.50.XX you're fine.
check your SPL version though, I've never tried Android with SPL 3.X some say it doesn't work.
4- You can dual boot (or triple or even quadruple boot) Android with windows as long as your multiple android builds support having more than one beside them (and a bit of your luck as well) the program is just a shortcut for you not to use FExplorer to run Android :/ so the answer would be yes.
when you run android and have some problems, you can use search because there are many threads to solve almost every problem you'll have with android, one of them being mine (in my signature).
Hey guys, I got a second hand HD2 from ebay, so far i;ve been using it with android running from the SD but now i'e decidedto give wp7 a try.
the device came with MAGLDR 11.13 & WP7 7.0.7004.0 pre installed. I'm not sure which actual ROM it is.
I;ve read all the guides on updating to a newer ROM from the dev section of this forum, but im worried about nricking the device.
when I plug my phone into the Zune application to sync music, it offers me an update. I tried this update but it failed, is there any way I can update easily through Zune? or do I need to reflash a ROm such as this one.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1157535
Also, in my current situation, is it as simple as downloading the ROM & running the EXE with the phone plugged in?
I wnt a later version formnumerous reasons, mainly the lackofmauto focus in the camera z- allphotos are blurry!
SOrry for being captian n00bing, im just startiong out with WP7!
Hi,
It's not possible to update your HD2 WP7 with Zune. It's only for official WP devices.
To flash new WP rom, I advice you to begin with a Task29 (clean the phone), flash radio (2.15.... recommended), flash MAGLDR 1.13, and flash the WP rom you want.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply mate.
Task29 clears the NAND if im correct, will that remove MAGLDR too? So I'll have to reflash MAGLDR 1.13?
Can anybody provide me with a n00by-friendly link to a guide on this? The phone came with MAGLDR 1.13 so i;ve no experience with WP7! I'm an Android man!
Could you also recommend a stable day-to-day ROM? I'm not bothered about Mango (unless theres a super-stable version) so anything NoDo would be fantastic.

in some cases task29 has created some issues with Wp on the HD2
just boot in to MAGLDR, go to USB flash, connect it to your PC and then run the exe from the ROM of your choice, i would strongly recomend staying with Yukis ROM, if you have issues with it then consider SD Card flashing a stock WM ROM and starting again. HSPL>RADIO>MAGLDR>WP7
The SD card is the problem, if you get one that works, you'll be fine, there is NO compatible list of SD card!
