CWM is easy. Its been around for years for a reason. MAGLDR 1.3 includes CWM under option 8. AD Recovery.
USB storage mode under MAGLDR also has problems, STAY AWAY from transferring DATA that way. Use CWM, mounts/storage, mount usb, transfer ROM.
Any ROMS that say {DAF/CWM}, or just DAF in the title are what you want to try with USB Flasher mode.

Hello Everybody, I will be very grateful if someone help me deal with my problem.
I have been on Android rom with my hd2 phone since a year ago and decided to try the clockworkMod recovery about 3 days ago but it does not seem to work so i followed so many videos on utube as I was getting frustrated.
I have already installed magldr v1,13,
Hi guys, I am seriously in need of your help. On my HD2 phone, I think I have managed to install clockwork Mod recovery v 3.0.0.5 but can't install a ROM on the sd card. After flashing and trying to install a rom from the sd card, "message on my phone was", finding update package.....
Opening update package.....
E: can't open/sdcard/Typhoon cm7 v3.6.8 clk.zip is bad.( I am not sure if I installed the correct rom)
I have also tried following several video links but still no luck.
-I have tried to format my sd card several times
-wipe cache partition
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe Dalvik cache
I am currently stuck and don't know what to do again.
I already have on my phone, HSPL: 2.08, Radio: 2.15.50.14 and Magldr: v1.13
After trying several tricks, I have realised that, I cannot boot into magldr any more.
Any help guys?
Folow steps:
- install HSPL: 2.08 and Radio: 2.15.50.14 (read all about installing hspl or your device will be bricked!!!)
- if you have activesync installed, right click on activesync/connection settings, untick "allow usb connection"!
- download mtty.exe to your computer
- switch your phone to spl screen (volume down + power)
- connect your phone to usb/computer
- run mtty.exe, chose "usb" (if you not see usb, something is not ok), if you see usb, press enter (if you see mtty> ...etc all is ok, if not -> repeat until you make mtty conection with your phone)
- in mtty window type: task 29 and press enter (it will format your romfs)
- in mtty window type: task 2a and press enter(it will format your romfs and relocate bad blocks)
- done, you formated your romfs -> exit mtty
- in activesync enable again "allow usb connection"
- go to folder MAGLDR113_DAF
- run ROMUpdateUtility.exe and wait until you have done installing magldr
- restart your phone and press power button until you see magldr menu
- sellect usb flasher in magldr menu
- go to folder clockwork and use proper cwm for your rom and run daf.exe
- done
Next step:
- download free version of the MiniTool Partition Wizard and install it in your computer
- format your sd card with MiniTool Partition Wizard (1x primary/fat32 , resize: do not forget to leave 1gb space for the an ext2 partition) (1x primary/ext2), apply changes ...done)
- so you have 2 primary partitions on your sd card (1x fat32 1x ext2)
- coppy rom.zip to your sd card and reboot to magldr (press power and wait magldr menu)
- select ad recovery, go to install rom from sd card, select "chose image from sd card", install, ...done, reboot
NOTE:
some roms not working if your sd card not have an ext2 partition of the 1gb!!
I am not 100% sure, but I am new to hd2 device, for magldr version you need magldr rom...
Hello, thanks for your quick reply. I will try all the steps and hope it helps me.
Sorry, I forgot to ask you where to download the mitty.exe file from and is there a particular version to download?
Thanks.

more importantly, you have magldr but have downloaded teh cLK version of typhoon. no need to reflash anything. (cLK is an alternative to magldr, and requires a slightly different build rom, thats why there are two versions of most roms.)
Redownload teh correct version and it will flash, , probably no need for the 'ohyougottadoatask29standononelegreformateverythingreturntostockreapplyhsplflashanewradioreinstallwindowsgetanewpcandreflash' doomsayers though i suspect its too late and you already started. hehe.
You canĀ“t Flash clk over magldr. Go to the site/post and Download the magldr version
And when you stil have problems and nothing works for you try a different Sd card.
Hi munjeni,
Thanks a lot, I have managed to boot into magldr and even tried to intstall clk typhoon cyanogen Mod 7 nightly v3.6.9 and tried both the MAGLDR and CLK but it failed. I had an error message after I have rebooted "nand kernel open failed"
I had earlier installed MAGLDR 150MB system/ 5MB cache clockworkMod Recovery V3.0.2.5 (Is this the right Recovery to install?)
I am just confused and don't know what to do again.
Now that I can boot into magldr how do I proceed from there?
Thanks for your advice;

Again, try the Magldr version. Big ups. Let us know.
I am stuck after the error message "nand kernel open failed" I don't know where to start from...any ideas?
You should be more detailed. When does it say failed? When you try start cwm? Or after you flash the rom?
Get correct magldr rom
Enter magldr
Option 8-ad recovery.
If that's where it gives failed, go back into magldr, "USB flashing" and re apply cwm.
Once in cwm, choose wipe data/factory reset then "install zip from SD - choose zip" and select the typhoon zip.
Report back.
This problem started about 6 months ago, every time i try to put the stock android 2.3.5 ,in my way to installing ics and above I end up with an unsable device , sometimes it boots fine but most times its just stays at the logo screen playing the boot animation at about 1 fps and keeps closing the screen and opens again (not restarting). Many of the times that it finally Booted i tried to do the first steps on rooting it and installing cwm but in the next reboot i will still have the problem and i will not be able to boot again,i must to do a wipe from the recovery menu .
So my question are
does anyone knows what the problem is?
can I install ics and above without going first to stock 2.3.5
can I install cwm without rooting the device and without even opening it? (i tried to connect it to adb and push files but ofc i don't have the permissions ;( )
*I tried every stock 2.3 on this list
*Every stock 2.2 rom works fine
Hi,I had the same problem
First boot - OK
Reboot
Bootloops with blinking and lagging screen.
---!This tutorial is for standart U8800 only!---
You must intall official 2.3.5 BETA 1.0 and root it with superoneclick after first boot.
In beta version of 2.3.5 is unlocked bootloader = you can put recovery img in phone, when you are in bootloader and have usb connected to pc.
after it go to pink screen, connect phone to the pc and put recovery.img in image folder.
disconnect it, pull the battery out. Give it back and start the phone with holding vol + and power button. and boot into CWM
go to mount and storage => connect phone via USB cable to the pc and select => mount usb storage
Now you can see micro sd card in your pc and copy zip. with rom to microsd card and install any ROM you want.
Sorry for my bad English.
Use CWM 5.5.0.4 - search for it in this forum.
Here you can download 2.3.5 with unlocked Bootloader

Hello, I am having some trouble trying to install the CloudyG2 v2.2 Rom on my LG L2 D802 and would please like some help.
These are the steps I followed:
Activated developer mode
Enabled USB debugging
Allow installation of apps from unknown sources
Went to the towelroot website on the phone and downloaded the root, installed and "made it rain" with success
Downloaded and installed SuperSU from app store
Downloaded and installed Root Checker from app store
Ran Root Checker and was told my device has been rooted
Downloaded and installed TWRP Recovery D802_AutoRec.apk
Ran AutoRec and followed steps then booted to recovery
Phone then booted into TWRP Recovery
Created a backup of Boot, System and EFS
Once the backup was created, I went back and checked to make sure it showed in the Recovery tab.
This is where I am stuck!!!
I am now up to the step where I need to install the ROM. However I have not transferred the CloudyG2_2.2.zip to the phone from my computer.
How can I do this? because now when I try to reboot my phone it shows the LG logo and then the screen goes black and there is a blue/green light at the top of the phone flashing.
I have searched around for hours looking for a solution so any help would be greatly appreciated =)
Enter in download mode and go back to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
To enter in download mode power off your phone, keep volume down key pressed and plug the usb cable.
You can try straight flashing ROM after wiping using USB-OTG cable or ADB Sideload. It might work, but I'm not sure.

When I try to enter download mode, I get stuck on the 'Firmware Update" page and it has been stuck at 0% for over 20 mins.
Using OTG
Keep flashable zip file of any working ROM in OTG pendrive.
Connect OTG pendrive.
Enter into recovery mode.
Go to Mount option and check USB-OTG.
Come back and select install.
goto /usb-otg and select the zip to install...
And Done...
Not tried but you can try this...
[Make sure you have your pendrive in FAT32 format and not NTFS]

Just went out and bought a USB-OTG cable and transferred the CloudyG2 v2.2 ROM onto a thumb drive
I then tried to open it in TWRP by going to "Install" and changing the storage drive to USB-OTG but it will not let me select it.
Thanks for the help but does anyone have any more ideas I could try?
EDIT: Just saw chauhanrvikas post and I am about to reformat the thumb drive to FAT32 as it was NTFS
:good::laugh::good: IT IS WORKING!!! :good::laugh::good:
Thank you to both Speedypancake and chauhanrvikas for helping me to get it working.

GUIDE
After booting into recovery mode I could not get the phone to boot back into the system, nor could I get "Download Mode" or "ADB Sideload" to work, however the steps below did work.
If you did not transfer the ROM zip file onto your device before entering TWRP then follow these steps:
Get yourself a USB-OTG cable (Micro USB to Female USB cable).
Format a USB Thumb Drive to FAT32 and transfer the ROM zip file to it.
When in TWRP go to the "Backup" and create a backup.
Check the backup was created by going to "Restore" and see if the file is there.
Plug the Thumb Drive into the USB-OTG cable and then into the phone.
Go to "Install" and change the selected storage drive to USB-OTG.
Now you can select your ROM zip file and install.
Hopefully this can help someone else and save them from spending over 10 hours like I did trying to fix this issue because I thought I had bricked my phone for good.
I wanted to completely reformat my phone as my phone was buggy with Cyanogen Mod 12, so I formated everything.
The problem is that my PC was not detecting the drivers when in recovery mode, so I couldn't side-load with ADB, and I have no way of getting a .zip on to it.
I tried re-installing the clockwork mod using ODIN but it would just crash the application. I then tried heimdall and that said it installed it (I was hoping that it would fix adb)
Now I can't boot in to the clockwork mode recovery as it just instantly turns the phone off, however I can just boot normally in to the Galaxy S4 logo screen.
When I'm in the logo screen I do have access to ADB, however my phone is unathorised and I have no way to authorise it.
How can I A) fix clockwork recovery so it works again and B) put a zip on the phone or fix ADB detecting my device in recovery?
If you can get into download mode, flash a full stock ROM via Odin and start again

That worked great, thanks.
no probs, i find it to be a pretty good fall back in case of issues (just annoying reinstalling games etc..)
hi,
i have an old S4 which I wanted to update to new LineageOS. First I tried to flash TWRP by JCDteam, but I got error, and now recovery does not boot - it simply restarts the phone. The problem is, that the USB port is dead on the phone (shows Device has malfuncationed when connecting to PC), so I cannot use Odin to flash new recovery. Is there any way to flash TWRP to Recovery partition from the phone itself (it boots and works fine and has root)?
Try to use genuine cable first not some Chinese fake things.
Plenty of apps available to flash recovery, try to install twrp app
I think I've bricked. it. I've tried to do dd from terminal but when I rebooted, the recovery still doesn't boot (starts booting then reboots), the phone doesn't boot anymore (stuck on LineageOS logo), and if I boot to download mode and connect usb cable (and i've tried tons of them) it just says unknown device
Anything else I can do?

Replace the USB port so you can flash a system image through Ofin. If I recall correctly the port is on its own board, so if replacing the port isn't feasible, replacing the board the port is on with one from a different S4 should work. Of course only you can determine whether doing so is worth the time and energy.
