New ed01 rom ideas - Epic 4G General

Here are my ideas for the new rom that is due for today.
It should be
Gingerbread 2.4
Use less memory
Have carrier iq in it
Have better battery life
Close all security holes so rooting will not be possible which mr no more needs for security programs like norton

No this is not a joke. Another thread said their is a new rom due today which means we get it in about 20 days as the ec05 was given to me on the 25th which is 20 days after ec05 was done.
I also want honeycomb and ice cream sandwhich and am loving the google overlords are clamping down on the device makers as the only thibg that should be different are the look of the phone like how evo 4g looks different from a sprint epic 4g. Otherwise then all should be the same including hardware. Also once google updates specs like nexus to nexus s then no more updates for the old hardware like microsoft does. Also then all old hardware would need to be returned to google for recycling and then we would lease a new model that gives the google way of life. Google users sould also be even more of a cult then apple is.

Samsung epic Samsung Tablet???

Ok so I was thinking, if froyo isn't being released for the epic, but the samsung tablet is coming out with 2.2 would it be possible to just take the kernel and everything necessary to run 2.2 on the epic. And maybe write some other scripts and things to make it work? Or is that just too impossible? If so I think I might be able to stop by the sprint store that my buddy manages and use their equipment to pull some things.
Apologies for posting in the wrong section if I did.

I think that Samsung has promised Froyo on all Galaxy s variants to date. The problem is that we will likely be the last to get it.:-(
The real question is Gingerbread. I suspect that the sheer volume of Galaxy S subscribers globally will get it, but because we don't have the numbers, we may not.

Then that will just be another mark against samsung and in a since sprint. Would be enough to insure most never buy samsung again and might even push people onto diffrent carriers for their phones

They only promised Froyo, unless you have sources that we don't have. Gingerbread is still uncertain.
It looks like the community may have to do it. It shouldn't shock anyone really. Either we won't get or when we get it, it will be so late that the next version of Android will be out.

State of the Os Address

Just read a article that someone posted in the xperia arc forums, and it has a chart with all US carrier pre-froyo phones and how long it took to update to froyo once it came out in may...
Aparrently, only like 7 of 41 pre froyo phones were updated o.o
Andof the samsung family tree, the intercept is the only one to get the update.
I wish I knew how to post links, cuz it was an interesting chart and It shows me we're not alone in this plight.
And, honestly, atleast we got a semi-official froyo build out...the x10 owners are stuck with eclair and a statement from sony erricson saying how they feel the custom 2.1 is on par or better than vanilla ui lol

This link has some info on it. Some guy says you can get it in the Sprint store. Until we get other confirmation though, I call BS. Then again I've also heard Tuesday may be OTA, which may corroborate the above statement. Either way, it is all complete rumor and no sources have proven to be reliable.

Wow sasung is just circle jerking. I wanna know what's so different in the vibrant 4g that it has froyo but the regular vibrant doesn't.
If I'm not mistaken, the only difference is the hspa+ radio and ffc right?
And nah you definitely won't be ale to get it from the sprint store lol and I doubt it'll happen this Tuesday. They're just hanging the carrot infront of our faces, but I don't cre to follow it anymore. If they decide to cut the string and give us the carrot, I'm happy, but now I'm just indifferent when I see it.

Rather a better phone to a software update.
I literally cannot imagine the mind that would have this kind of resentment for one godless corporation's shiny new thing vs. other godless corporation's shiny new thing. I mean seriously.
Is this a thing now? Sports rivalries are dumb enough, but SMARTPHONE RIVALRIES?!?!?
I give up. On the world....
I'd buy a tablet before that EVO POS! Epic is a MUCH better phone. I can wait a few weeks for a software update.

Gotta love that trolling.
Way to represent the Evo community.
I'm so proud of the Evo. Gingerbread is so amazing. /sarcasm

Funny thing is, 2.3 mostly optimizations for Hummingbird SoC... but hey, if you think your e-peen is bigger because you got it before us, then good for you.
Pretty pathetic, aren't you?
You're trolling/bragging about a phone. Think about that.
Yeah, come back when people here give a **** over an update, when they're only weeks apart anyway.
Enjoy your rushed, crappy update that's not even really optimized for your phone.
Quality comes with time, enjoy your rushed update!

Rushd update on crap phone with crap hardware and a crappy display. All I have too say is superamoled
Eh who cares anyway our phones with 2.2 are faster then there's will be with 2.3
We get GB like 2 weeks later and have a superior, nearly unbrickable phone. I think I'll survive just fine. Have fun with lag when GB doesn't love the Snapdragon.

Come on already who cares about gingerbread? Ics is the new flavor fav of the month

Let's face it once google announced the ics as the next version of android why do some people still want gb when ics can be leaked and used on our phones. Google needs to be the one doing the updates not the carriers and phone makers. Google should open a beta and prebeta builds to all who want them.

For someone who's been around since the 70's you seem to not understand the development life cycle of a product to be expecting such an asinine thing to happen.
Using win7 (retail) to win8 (alpha) argument proves your failure to grasp that.
BTW, i love how decad3nce pwned your last post. LOL

Because to us Gingerbread is the most important release ever! Gingerbread was made with Hummingbird in mind..ICS is a huge improvement for dual core phones..while we definitely get some new features, you would not notice such huge performance increases as you do with Gingerbread.
Locked. OP, check your pm's.

CM9 UNOFFICIAL Fanboy Thread

No complaints, just a place to sing the praises of the awesomeness that is CM9.
I for one love CM9. Sure, there's some things that could be improved, but this rom is just amazing. I especially love that ICS is working on a phone that Samsung was just to lazy to work on. We get the benefits of Matias Duarte's amazing talent combined with the real-world-minded approach to porting of the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND FABULOUS CM9 developer team.
And perhaps the best thing: This is a work in progress, so that means regular updates with continued improvements.
What could be better?
So, to everyone involved, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Also 1st !
It is not that Samsung was too lazy it was that it would require them to give up their proprietary BML partition or restructure it which if done by OTA would stand to great a risk of bricking the phone, especially one over a year and a half old.
Beta 0 is very fast and snappy. Thank you CM9 team.

Time to give this thread a bump.
Beta2 rocks. I look at some of the other threads about what the future of CM9 should be, and I can't help but thinking,"NOOOOO! DON'T MESS WITH IIIIITTTTT!"
I think I'm going to stick with Beta2 until I see some overwhelmingly compelling reason to update again.
Just sayin'.

I'm also loving beta 2! As much as I would like to get a Gnex, this dedicated support has turned my epic into the poor mans Gnex. :-]
