[q] xv6900 need gps help!!! - Touch CDMA General

I have tried
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533639
I have tried
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-titan/36377-alltel-gps-gps-super-fast-lockon.html
ROM I am using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432487
If there is other ROM you are using and the GPS is working then please let me know.
Is anyone using the XV6900 still able to use the GPS and get a lock? on data.
If so can you please give me the aGPS values.
Or please tell me how you did it. There is a lot of information present,I know this but they all seem too old and I have tried all of them with no luck. At this point I am getting satellites to show up but no locks.
Other question Can I use any aGPS values? for example can I bounce off Sprint?
Radio: 3.42.50

Thread moved to General. It just takes a very long time to lock. If the Vogue is seeing satellites, it means that the GPS is working as it should. I have not tested any of the "fixes" out there, but I have read tons of mixed comments on whether they work or not...

GPS Issue

First off I'm just a bit confused on the whole GPS thing. I have all the tutorials and stuff but will the GPS actually work without the data plan? (aGPS).
I have..
Radio: 3.42.50 Bell Radio
ROM: NFS 1.12VZW
I cant seem to pick up any signal at all...
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
GPS will work with out data plan, but maps are loaded from internet most of the time..
also it *might* pull data, that you shouldnt be charged for, aGPS uses a tower to determin the GPS clock and basicaly jump starts your lock by a min or so. with out it, your phone would search for GPS signals and try to sync its time with it, befor lockign on to all 3.
with aGPS it only uses a tower and 2 others
Hi Guys,
Here is an excellent article covering gps vrs agps:
http://www.wmexperts.com/articles/gps_vs_agps_a_quick_tutorial.html
As spyderekz said, our Vogues are capable of "stand-alone" gps. Having said that, agps is more accurate.
I am an Airline pilot with Air Canada Jazz, I have tested my gps in the air (with the phone in airplane mode), and the gps was able to lock. GPS sattelites are all numbered, both TomTom and gps viewer (GPS viewer is included in NFSFAN's ROM) display GPS status pages. These pages show how many sattelites you are recieving, and their numbers. Our Aircraft FMS (flight management system) has a similiar page. Both my Vogue and the aircraft picked up the same sattelites (The airplane picked up more, then again, MUCH bigger antenna!!!).
I also live in BC, I have used TomTom driving many mountain passes with no cell phone reception and TT keeps ticking along nicely.
I should add I'm on the Bell network, and Bell has not locked any GPS functions unlike Verizon where users must jump through many hoops to get it working.
Quick question tankbusta, what network are you on?....nerermind, just noticed your Verizon. Have you tried the stock Verizon ROM, complete the agps fix, then flash to NFSFAN's ROM???
If you search the posts, you'll see NFSFAN recommends using your own carriers radio, and letting ALL customizations run when upgrading that radio. As long as Verizon has a 3.xxxx radio, you should be able to use the tutorial to get gps working.
No problem using TomTom.
hi i was wondering if anyone knows what is the 6digit epst code that you get from getspc for a htc touvh 6900???
It is "000000"

GPS without Data Charges???

Hi,
I still have my Telus branded Touch and was wondering if there was a way to get the gps working even though the phone isnt active any longer with Telus? Before it dialed into some remote server to get a really quick gps lock. I only recently pulled this thing out of the drawer cause I figured I may as well leave it in my car as a standalone tomtom gps unit. It wont lock onto any satalites though.
Any ideas? I used to have a external bluetooth gps receiever but I cant find that anywhere either.
I'm wondering if its just the rom thats on this thing.... I'm running the standard telus rom. If another rom has the ablity to lock onto GPS without the need for a cellular connection I'd be willing to try that out.
Thanks again!

I am on Verizon. I don't know the specifics about Telus. If your GPS is unlocked then technically you should be able to use your GPS without your radio being turned on. Even use it with the radio turned on & use TomTom which does not require a data connection.
As far as getting your GPS to work, I don't exactly know if the process is simular to Verizon. Perhaps someone else will lend you a hand. I did find some threads for you though.
Take a look at NFSFAN's ROM's

I know there is a "hybrid" gps setup on the the vogue that you can tweak in the registry to get only the gps chip to lock. Try searching for "hybrid gps" and such in this forum and the dev/hacking forum. It was discussed at length a little while after the htc rom upgrade releases last year.
If you are willing to upgrade to NFSFAN's Windows Mobile 6.5, you can follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3680840#post3680840 and in Post #5 there is a cab that will disable aGPS so it won't look for a connection to help. With this you will be solely reliant on the phone's Full GPS chip, which may take anywhere from 1-5 minutes to get a full lock. It's not as sensitive as an external bluetooth GPS receiver. You can find this and other GPS/Winmo upgrades in the Vogue upgrading section of xda.

Once he upgrades it will work just like a standalone TomTom unit. I don't sound like he is going to have the phone activated anyway. The Standalone TomTom units take about 1-5 minutes to lock anyway.

Right, that why I suggested it. Since he won't be using it with service, there's no reason to stick with the stock ROM.

touch hd gps

Hi
i have read in a few other posts regarding GPS issues and Sat Nav software not working
now i have seen a few programs that 'kick off' the GPS and then runs the program and i have run these to no avail,
i was wondering if anyone else has not only had this issue but struggled to get it working, google maps seems to pick me up via GPS but tomtom is saying 'no gps device' go into settings within tomtom and set to internal gps device, and check gps status and no cannot see any satellites. i have had the phone outside inthe line of sight of the sky for an hour so me being inpatient isn't the issue, any help would be greatly appreciated
ta
Try this:
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/GPS/GPS-Test-34335.shtml
Update QuickGPS.
If no satellites show up after a max of 5mins of you standing outside with clear view of the sky, then you either need to flash another radio or the gps is dead.
hi
thanks
have left phone outside running that, seems to be scanning com1-9..pausing for a second on port 3 then continuing. will let you know in 10 mins, what is flashing another radio involve?

ok stupid question time, but if it google maps seems to be working ok would that not suggest that the GPS radio is ok, and secondly if i did flash which one would i go for on that link you sent
i have radio version 1.09.25.14 protocol 52.49a.25.261u
there is a link
Download 1.09.25.14 / 52.49a.25.26W Radio only Megepload
Download HD_Blackstone_Radio 1.09.25.14 (with RUU) 4shared
am i flashing this even though my protocol is different?
and there is about another 10 files below all them called
Blackstone Rilphone.dll Cabs
all confusing can you help any more please
thanks
I don't believe anything google maps says in relation to GPS after it told me one of my non GPS phones had inbuilt gps, and then calculated my position using the mobile phone network.
As for which you need, well it depends on which rom you are running, whether it's a stock rom (bog-standard rom you get on device when you buy it), or a custom cooked rom from someone on the forums. I suggest you read up on it thoroughly then post in the correct radio thread if you want to ask any more questions regarding the right radio version you need.
fair do's
thanks
Did you have google maps open when you started Tomtom? That may have caused an error
hi
thanks for reply, no i open google maps it seems to find my location. close google maps, then open tomtom and is saying no gps device. the 'onboard' gps device is set on tomtom options it's just as if the gps reciever isn't picking up, same in other sat nav progams too, garmin is the same so makes me think is phone not software issue
AFAIK, Google Maps is A-GPS software, while TomTom, iGO and others are full GPS software.
Don't know about TomTom, but iGO DOES NOT work if A-GPS is enabled...
hmmmm. i'll give it a whirl, not got the phone withme at the mo, a mate is attempting to simunock it, agps is enabled so i will disable it see if that helps. tempted to get rid and get an effing iphone at this rate
Let us know how you go....
Don't give up, it;s a great phone
had the same issue with tomtom v7.450. using tomtom v7.916 now and it's running like charm
Just had replacement Touch HD delivered from Orange this morning, flashed to my usual ROM, and get exactly the same symptoms as Pete did.....
Tried:
TomTom
Memory map
HTC GPS Tool
Updating QuickGPS
Updating Radio ROM to latest version
Reflashing different OS roms
nothing makes a difference.
Not really keen to take it apart as i'll break the VOID sticker and probably end up in an argument with Orange, but Id bet any money that the GPS cable has come loose......so frustrating as im working abroad as of next week and i'll really use the GPS a lot......
Also just found out that the replacement handset is "refurb".....I bet the muppet that refurbed it didnt reconnect the GPS cable

[Q] GPS and Bluetooth. PLEASE READ

Hey, I really need some help now.. No one anwsered my other threads.
I have problems with my Bluetooth hardware. Sometimes it works (rarely), sometime it does not. It used to work well about 2 months ago. Never really used it anyways. So my first question is: is there any tool available to verify/check/diagnostic the bluetooth hardware?
For the GPS, I'm also having some problems. I get some readings with GPS Viewer, like 4-6 numbers, but nothing else. It doesn't get satellites with Google Maps. Could a reflash of the radio fix this (currently on 3.42.50, which is the latest version)? Could using Bell's aGPS server settings help (btw, if someone has them.. could you PLEASE post them here! I've been searching for them EVERYWHERE) ?
Thanks in advance!

GPS in DJ_STEVE 1.5.0 Rom

Hello everyone, Anyone could explain to me exactly why the GPS isnt working completely. It works in the map but takes very long to get a lock. I was reading elsewhere that the GPS was not using Cellular antennas to get a signal. I would like to fix but am more curious to know why it isnt working properly.
Can you post all questions relating to Steve's ROM in his thread please
