4gdaypass.sprint.com - EVO 4G General

i have been getting https://4gdaypass.sprint.com since i can remember. when i connect to 4g service, get an IP, and then try to get to the internet such as espn.com. once i type espn.com in the browser, i am redirected to the 4gdaypass screen to sign up for 4g service even though i have the service as part of my account.
after chatting w/a sprint rep for 1 hr and doing ##3282# and doing a restore, then updating profile and prl (which i had done many times before chatting w/them); i was instructed to call 1-888-211-4727 for technical support. i do so, and the CS tries to blow smoke tell me there is an outage. i firmly explain that i have another evo that is currently connected to 4g and is able to connect to espn.com w/o getting the 4gdaypass screen. i firmly tell him again my issue and he decided to change his demeanor and help me. finally he directed me to call 8886496711 for the 4g day pass support.
talked to a new gentleman there that new exactly what i was getting and why, but he couldnt do anything about it and had to get me over to another group. this guy says that even though I connect to 4g and get an ip, 4g is missing from my account and that this other group needs to add the service.
talked to 8882114727 opt 2, 4, 4, 2 (back to orginal tech support) and was placed on hold for at least 15min (maybe more) while they researched. this lady tells me again there is an outage and that is why i am getting the 4gdaypass screen. again, i told her that i understand there is an outage, but my issue has been going on since i can remember. i asked her if i had all the needed option on my phone number to connect me to 4g because the previous guy said that i am missing something with 4g. she said everything is there to connect to 4g. she got me to a manager w/o me asking. was on hold for another 15min or more to talk with a manager.
talked to an escalation manager and he had no idea what i was talking about and refused to open a trouble ticket. he did however give me advanced tech support number of 8777358405.
i contacted advanced support 8777358405 and the lady i talked to knew exactly what i was talking about and agreed with me that it had nothing to do with the outage, but with the phone itself. she put in a trouble ticket explaining the issue and adviced me to take my phone to the store to see if they can authorize a advanced exchange. i also found out to always get the insurance for the phone because if you dont, and you take your phone into the store for service, the store will charge you $35 just to look at the phone.
so, i have a paper to right this afternoon and class tomorrow, so i will take my phone into the store sat and see what they say.

defective screen?

my imagio screen is tweaked I can see a little fluid in the screen and it will not respond to any touch. Did hard reset twice but no change. I have to bring it in tomorrow to a store, cust service was no help said they may charge me. At 37 days now this blows.
should I remove cabs before I go to store for warranty? even though the defect is a physical issue?
A hard reset should put the phone back to the factory software state unless you mean a storage card, but then you should take that out before replacing it since that's your own. =)
they are replacing it, I didn't undo my changes before I went in to the store. The guy there said I didn't have to. I have to wait to have it shipped from warehouse-no store stock within 100 miles. Maybe by Monday? I can only accept phone calls with it.
I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. I noticed my screen wasn't responding very well in the center, then I looked closer and this is what I saw

Sending it back to Verizon when my replacement arrives on Monday. Completely a hardward problem
yep that's it
Did you notice your screen not responding as well?
Just noticed I have it as well.. No issues with the screen response though.. I wounder if I should take it in anyway just to be sure something doesnt happen
leads right into not responding at all. I guess the fluid between the layers bleeding out. I think the capacitive screen responds to the stylus when the layers make contact?
started having issues with tje touchscreen.. took it to the store and the first words out of the reps mouth wad "what did you do to it ?"
lol...
then he says that it is normal to have the colored swirls like in the picture posted and that it wad from the oil on my fingers.. lol again.. at that point I say that none of the display devices have this and I showed him how the scrolling jumps around on the applications list..
he ordered me a new one and it will ne here in two days...
anyone else having this issue?
Had the same thing happen to me, they had to send me another phone the other day.
jeez.. the typing really shows how bad the screen has gotten..
Wow, I just had the same problem. They swapped it out for me and told me this "wasn't" a known issue with this phone.
same thing happened to me...
I was outside in the freezing cold last weeek and tried to use my phone. The screen was literally frozen... the phone was not locked up, but the screen would not respond. (The buttons would work, but unfortunately I was trying to call someone other than the last person I called so I was out of luck. Found this thread and realized mine had the same problem. Took it into the store and got a new one in the mail yesterday..
This might be a coincidence but I first noticed this right after I installed a screen protector - one of the vinyl ones that you wet with the supplied liquid before putting on...
me too
I had to return it too... I could see fine hair lines showing up more and more everyday... got a new one... next day some lines started to appear... It is winter and I think exposure to freezing temps is bad... I was warming up the car and put the phone on the passanger seat, I forgot something and went back inside the house for 5 mins.... the inside of the car was freezing the I grabed the phone and it felt VERY cold too... I was like "damn!" that's when the new line showed up on the second NEW phone....
Looks like Newtons' Rings to me
Hi guys, we've had similar complaints in the Blackstone forums. I think the general concensus there is that these "Newtons Rings" are due to delamination of the screen and digitizer. Looks like i'll have to add this to the Imagio Wiki as well.
On the blackstone there's mixed signals as to wether or not it's a "known issue" from HTC as only certain regional HTC repairers will replace it under warranty.
Both the image, and the descriptions you guys are giving says to me it's Newton's Rings. If you're getting them replaced under warranty then you're lucky
this same thing just happened to me 20 minutes ago! I am going to the verizon store after work I am glad i have a years insurance on it!!!
Just like everyone else, I had the same thing happen. VZ got me a new one in 3 days... Must be a manufacturing defect.
they sent me an ozone as a replacement and i called them up and she said they were all out of imagios and tp2 and that the ozone was a fair replacement and i told her i already had one and its not even close to the cost that i paid for the imagio anyway i got no where with the customer service and i went to the corp store in town and got it settled but it wont be here till friday which sucks!!! this will be number 3!
Maybe someone can find a site that sells screen and digitizer replacements.....

The Apollo GPS Issue. I Spoke to Samsung.

Hi All,
I have the GPS Issue - where it randomly just doesn't work. 2.1 stock firmware on i5800.
I've only had it a couple of days and have been doing various tests. I spoke to Samsung, who admit that 2.2 resolves some issues.
I initially got fobbed off with "you can swap it and I guarantee (?!) you wont get another with the same issue" - I told him I had another one exactly the same in my other hand (my gf's) demonstrating the same issues (silly man). I also referenced all these forums with other people struggling. Even suggested I could waltz into carphone warehouse who would update it to 2.2 for me...! haha I didn't accept this and carried on.
I reminded them that it's only officially out on Orange, which he acknowledged and said that in about a week the rest of the unlocked phones out there will be updateable via Kies (he made his own enquiries via some other "head office" support line, while I stayed on the phone). I've got the guys name and a case reference number and I'll be following it up and not letting it go. (obviously at the moment - "not fit for purpose" etc)
In the meantime, I've noticed that if you leave the GPS radio on, restart the phone, and LEAVE it switched on, the GPS works very nicely thankyou in tests and various apps. Once you start turning it off and on again it becomes flaky then doesnt work and you have to restart the phone again.
Hope that helps someone. Comments welcome.

this is a 3g phone
I am aware, but its just a possibility. The only other conclusions I can come up with is a technical glitch, or a co-worker prank.
even if you reboot the phone? Looks like something went haywire? Or someone who really knows their **** is playing a prank on you

No one has touched my phone except me. I went to a local fairgrounds had questionable service and it popped up. been there since i got home, restarting the phone now lets see what it says.
Gone after a reboot, just strange...
usually reboot is required when your phone loses signal then has trouble reconnecting to the network.
It has happened numerous times on other android devices I have used and usually when I leave the coverage area and either the phone or the android system has trouble refreshing the network status.
I am surprised you didn't reboot it before you posted on here

I rebooted it when I was still at the fairgrounds with the touchy signal, still had it, wanted it to stay when i got home to post the screen shot since i need to have it plugged in to get a screenshot from the phone.
and the phone still worked 100% so it didnt bother me. was just odd... makes me wonder that when the R800x is finally rooted if it will become a world phone.
The GSM and CDMA varients share a common software foundation which has historically been focused on GSM devices. It doesn't surprise me that your software glitched and displayed the screen. If you see this again, please send me a PM so I can have SE engineers take a look at it.

^This!
Also there are still a few diagnostic menus that feature the ability to turn on and off the GSM radio, which would check for the SIM slot to be populated. Now, if the GSM radio is actually still there on top of having the CDMA radio, that would be awesome, but I'm not expecting that, and believe that it is probably a software glitch arising from a similar foundation of code.

WiFi acting up on my ALE-L21

For some reason the wifi on my phone is acting strangely, it just started doing so a few days ago but before that it was all fine. Basically what is happening is that my wifi will be really slow to the point of not connecting to websites (Connection timed out etc.) however the wifi starts to work if I turn it off and then back on, but then stops. I really don't want to be doing that every 5 seconds. It used to be fine and then suddenly it started being weird. So basically my phone is quite useless now since I use my phone for everything (I log into my google account with my phone, I need to use the steam app on my phone and other important stuff). The wifi on all my other devices is fine like usual. Bluetooth also says that the bluetooth address is unavailable but I don't use bluetooth so it doesn't affect me but I think it's also to do with my problem.
Currently using Sokkoban's Deodexed ROM.
What I've tried doing:
Removed PurePerformancesX.
Cleared Cache.
Reflashed the ROM.
Flashed to the Official Lollipop update.
Flashed to the Official Marshmallow update.
Rebooted my router.
Reset my router.
Anything else to do?

I've heard about this, it seems it's a common problem among P8 lite users.

It sounds like it could be a faulty wireless card in the phone or the drivers bugged out. Blimin' shame that your warranty is void cause I am pretty sure they would have to fix that for you.
I actually had a very similar thing happen to my old iPhone 4s, wireless just completely died in the end. No regrets about that though, it brought me to android.
Really though, sorry to see you are having trouble with this and I really hope someone here can help you more.

I decided to remove the back cover of my phone to see what the problem could be, but then my screwdriver was too big to open any further. I still don't know where the WiFi + BT antennas are. And since TalkTalk are cool, they said that my warranty lasts as long as I carry on paying my contracts, which is good. However since I'm just out of the 28 day return window I'll need to give them a call so that Carphone Warehouse can repair it for me for free.

Sprint LG V20 - dead GPS after drop onto concrete - any repair/fix suggestions?

Sprint LS997, refurb bought Oct 2017 via Amazon, non-rooted, Android 8.0.0 for a few months now.
Searched other threads for solutions but could not find anything applicable.
Up until a few weeks ago, everything about this phone worked great. But I dropped it onto concrete sidewalk (basic case didn't do much) where the case and back popped off (battery stayed in though). Later that evening I went to use the GPS but was unresponsive. Did some Googling for possible causes and ended up buying a new top cap (LS997) for a few bucks to see if that would fix it - unfortunately it did not. Tried putting on my original factory back cover (current factory back case has magnet attached) but GPS still dead. All other network stuff work just fine (at least BT and WiFi which is all I use).
So I removed the top cap again to see if any of those tiny springs/contacts were goofed up, and noticed that my phone does not exactly match the one shown in this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78264829&postcount=11
If you look at the two contacts on the right side of stevejs's H918, my LS997 only has the (EDIT) contact on the right side - the left one is not there. Could it have been knocked loose from the fall, then when I originally took off the top cap to inspect, that one contact fell out without me noticing? Both my endcaps have the same contacts as shown, so nothing appears to have been dislodged from it. Not sure if another LS997 owner can check their phone to confirm...
Besides buying another phone (V20 or otherwise) to have a working GPS again, any suggestions from this community for a possible repair?
I tried to link steve's image below with my note in yellow (link is to my photo via my Google acct), but not sure it'll display correctly - thus my verbal explanation above of the missing contact.

So...no suggestions?
I remember I used to have a ppc6700. That was one of the original smart phones, probably 18 years ago.
Those didn't have built in GPS. However, I was able to get a Bluetooth GPS for it... Relatively cheap.
Imagine those are still available for sale and that would solve your problem on the cheap. Probably mountable in your car.
Thanks for the reply, though probably won't go that route. If a local repair shop can't diagnose or repair, I'll just buy a NOS V20 from ebay and call it a day.
