Hello. I want to update my X8 with stock ROM to jerpelea's 2.3.3 CM7.0 RC2. I have a few questions:
1)I have 2 partitions, one FAT and one Ext3(i'm using APP2SD).Is there any way to update to CM7 without losing my apps?
2)In other threads I saw that a SD card formated in ext3 AND fat doesn't work with 2.2 and 2.3. This means that I have to reformat my SD and lose the apps installed in Ext3 partition?
3)If I want to flash jerpelea's ROM do I have to change baseband to xx15?
#1, backup your apps first. Either uses mybackup root, titanium backup, or other means
#2, lose ur ext3 partition. I was hit by reboot problems til I ditched it.
#3, I suppose u better upgrade to baseband 15. Mine already 15 when I moved from stock.
#3 You have to flash the baseband 015 to use apps2sd

2.3 versions had many more bugs:
1. sd card Not mounted correctly (if Need to work Fat partition will must be in second ,ext Partition in first. But if ext Partition is created on first Partition ...in clockwork mod recovery cant mount sd card so its the Big Problem coz cant Backup and Restore)
2. APN's Not working correctly.(GPRS Not conected correctly)

I have SwiftDroid v1.3 and...
1. My SD card mounts prefectly using FAT32 with no additional partitions....may I ask WHY you need the ext partition as v2.3 is capable of moving some apps to SD natively.
2. My APN is working perfectly fine...you should check ur settings and service provider as well as reception area and your data plan.
GL mate.
Mur4ik is working on it ^^ In the meantime you could stick to Openswift 2.2.1 which works perfectly for me.
In my SwiftDroid 1.3 don't have this problem.
2. APN is working good
SwiftDroid v1.4b is out. You should go check it out.

Hey Guys,Me again, with more question on hand. Thanks in advance for all answers given.
Before the questions,Here's what my WF is currently running : Wildpuzzle(the latest Froyo one),Overclock Kernel from the old wildpuzzle thread.
1)I'm thinking of changing my ROM to CyanogenMod 7,so can someone tell me exactly what are nightly builds and the differences between the nightlies and RC2?
2)Which version of CyanogenMod 7 is most stable? (With the least bugs and with most original functions like FM Radio and WIFI tethering included)
3)Will it be faster and more responsive than my current Wildpuzzle that uses LauncherPro?
4)When I installed Wildpuzzle like a month ago,I partitioned the SD card once.(although it doesn't seem to make much of a space differences with the Stock ROM when all the apps are installed back again)So can anyone explain how partition really works, how some people can have dozens of apps installed and still have 100+MB left and do I have to re-partition when installing CyanogenMod?
Thanks again in advance for your patience.
1) Nightlies are automated builds made by build bots. They contain minor (sometimes major) code changes, and, are experimental releases. RC's are release candidates, and, normally, stable enough for release.
2) Stick with RC2 for now. Nightly #22 should be the better one if the 3G bug is fixed, but, #22 is not released yet. Also, if, you get a bootloop with RC2, flash Jacob's kernel v4.1. Again, this bug will be removed in #22.
3) It should be. Can't really say for sure though, since, this is a subjective thing. For me, moving from Wildpuzzle to CM7 did seem to speed up everything. (After I switched from the default ADW to LP, it was more smooth). Besides, just for the level of options and customization you get, I would say it is worth it.
4) You need to flash DTApps2SD as well after partitioning. Simply partitioning will not make the apps move to the SD Card. Also, if you have a fast SD card, you can consider moving the Dalvik cache to your SD card as well, implying that no phone memory will be used at all when you install apps. You need not repartition again if you already have one.
Thanks for the reply
2)I've read somewhere on the forum that nightly 17 is better and more stable than RC2,is this true? and what are the major bugs in RC2 and what is missing in it(things that can currently be done on Wildpuzzle but not on RC2) and where can I find Jacob's 4.1 Kernel?
4)How do I know if I have a fast SD card? and where can I find DTApps2SD?
1) Don't know really. Since I have not tried #17 myself. Anyway, it looks like #22 is out. I'll be trying that, since it uses a newer kernel compared to Jacob's kernel and should fix the 3G bug. Anyway, just FYI, Jacob's kernel can be found here: (Repeat: Do not flash this if you are using a new nightly over and including #21)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471
2) You will have to remove the card and check it. Apart from the card vendor's name and capacity, there will be a number surrounded by an almost full circle. This number will be 2,4,6 or 10. For moving everything including the dalvik cache to SD card, it is recommended to have atleast a Class 4 SD Card, else it may potentially cause slowdowns.
DTApps2SD can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925982
You can check the "Commands" Page (Link given in the thread given above) for instructions on how to use it.
EDIT: 3G Fix didnt happen in #22, but, you can still use it and flash this fix immediately after flashing the CM ROM:

1)I just flashed CM7 RC2 earlier today along with Jacob's 4.2 kernel,so what do I do now if I want to install nightly 22?
2)ok,I've checked and it's a class 4...How do I transfer Apps to Sd using Darktremor's A2SD? Through the standard method or with Titanium Backup?

If you have already setup as per your liking, then, simply wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache under advanced partition. However, because this has a new kernel, I think it would be better to wipe data and do a factory reset as well.
Just flash the dtapps2sd ZIP file as you flash a ROM. If you want to move the dalvik cache to the SD as well, open terminal emulator, type the following:
su
a2sd
a2sd cachesd
Thanks and I've decides to stick with RC2 for now,so i've re flashed RC2,Google Apps, the 4.2 Kernel and DTa2sd...So how exactly does DTa2sd work?Like when I use Titanium Backup to restore all my apps does it go to sd automatically or there is some process to transfering it
Not aware of the Titanium Backup Process, since, I dont use it. But, what I do know is that when you flash the ZIP, the apps are moved then. But, if you have already flashed Dtapps2sd, and then restore from Ti Backup, it should go to the SD.
Anyway, you can check the thread for its functioning. Its explained much better than I can.
Em,How do I know if my SD is partitioned correctly, cos I did the a2sd check command and all I get are lots of codes ending with permission denied

Make sure you type su in your terminal emulator app before running that. This requires Superuser privileges.
Also, another noob way (lol) to check if it is partitioned properly is to go to check the size of your SD card. If it shows the full capacity, it is not partitioned. If it shows the capacity excluding the size of the EXT (eg: Default 2GB + 256 MB EXT will show SD card capacity as 1.60 GB), then, it is correctly partitioned.
Ok,I've checked everything and all seems to be running well,Thanks for all your help
Dammit,New problem...After installing CM7 everything runs fine and after I keep rebooting for everytime I flash something new(GApps,Kernel,DTA2SD),it reboots fine but after restoring my apps and rebooting it,It's stuck at the cyanogenmod bootscreen with the blue arrow(it's called Bootlooping right?) How do I fix this? I really like CM7 and don't want to go back to Wildpuzzle

If your DHD comes with CyanogenMod, I believe that DHD had rooted.
You don't have to Root, S-OFF, ENG S-OFF, install recovery mode, etc.
That 5 step will do it.

so do you have a2sd by Darktremor?
Whenever i try to create an ext2 partition in my sdcard, it is not being mount and i get a warning saying that the card should be formatted. if i give yes, it gets formatted as one single partition of FAT32.. Please help
I used MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition in windows for partitioning
for partitioning use gparted
Before upgraded to gingerbread ROM, it was 2.2.1 where there is a app name "link2sd" free from market, which it mount ext2 partition of sdcard and move per apps apk file to sdcard, of ext2 partition, this is more flexible then Darktremor.
Where with Darktremor, the external sdcard will never able to hot remove from phone and plug it back. Which make external sdcard pointless. remove sdcard card will kill / reboot the phone, given without sdcard, phone can not start up. Also slow performance issues.
Where link2sd allow you select large apk only link to external sdcard, when unplug sdcard the phone still works without reboot / halt.

Great job!
It is possible to do the same thing with 2.3.4 KPH?
I found so many noobs here in ace forum and so little developers and I want to help you. I come from optimus one forum and i like to help.
You need a custom recovery to create an ext partition and to make darktremor a2sd to worked. Amonra or clockworkmod recovery is the best. Then create an ext partition whether ext2, 3 or 4 then flash dta2sd from the darktremor a2sd thread here in xda(search it). The latest ver is 2753 beta 04.
Remember, without ext partition the dta2sd will not worked.
To check if your a2sd is working, download terminal emulator, press su then enter then type a2sd check.
Or download titanium backup agd check if it says a2sd space=???
Or the best way to check is by a2sdgui app, it is a official app from the dta2sd itself. If it says apps are on sd, then your a2sd worked. And if you guys still reducing memory even after moving apps to sd via a2sd gui app, its time to put the dalvik cache to your sdcard.
Fuh, thats a lot of writing on my phone. I love to help because i will buy galaxy gio soon.
Or maybe you guys should take a look at optimus one forum and learn how to make a custom kernel and rom there. Theres a very good thread on guiding how to build a custom rom and kerne. Im pretty surprise so many noobs here. Like i said i really like to help to improve this community
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Hi
I have 2 LG L3 E400F phones and have installed JC-e400 v6 REVAMPED II with SDMerge. It runs incredibly slow on the older and locks up regularly and runs slow and restarts itself occasionally on the newer. Also I cannot seem to get wifi tethering working.
The install process I used was:
Rooted phone
Install ClockworkMod and flash img from play store
Used ClockworkMod to backup phone in close to original state
Wipe Data
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Format /System
Format /SDCard with 1024MB Ext and 128MB SWAP
Copy SDMerge1,SDMerge2, ROM, Gapps to SDCard
Install SDMerge1 - Updates recovery to v6
Install SDMerge2 from recovery v6 - Downgrades Recovery back to v5
Install ROM JC-e400 v6 Revamped II
Normal Phone Startup, Shutdown and back to Recovery
Install Gapps stripped down version to get Play Store
As I expect you would know, this ROM does not support wifi tether hotspot directly. I have thus tried installing a few wifi apps that seem to only support WEP on this phone, however, even these do not seem to work. (Tether worked fine on the stock ROM)
As such I have a few questions that I would be grateful if anyone can answer for me.
How can I confirm is SDMerge is setup and operating correctly?
Link2SD does not seem to recognise the 2nd EXT partition. Any suggestions?
Is the install process I have followed correct?
Is there a more stable and still lightweight ROM with good memory mgt for the L3 you would recommend trying?
What test steps could I do to find the problem(s) with this ROM on my L3?
Is using the 2GB SDCard that came with the phone likely to be a cause of the lagging and ultra slowness (as opposed to say a speed 10 SDCard)?
Is having a swap file set a likely cause of the slow speed? And if so how would I now disable it?
Thanks in advance
Since the above, I have found a thread here for JC_E400_v6_Revamped_II that mentions sdmerge "Step 4" and have now also applied that.
Speed is still very very slow for me.
I have ordered a High Speed SD Card and that should be arriving any day. Maybe that will make the difference?
When it does arrive what would be the steps to swap the cards?
Would I need to format it with 2nd partition again of EXT? swap partition?
Would I need to run SDMerge1 and SDMerge2 steps again?
Or just SDMerge4? Or none of the SDMerges?
Thanks
