Need Someone With an X10 to Test Something! - XPERIA X10 General

Hey,
I've been exploring the Xperia Arc system dump, and noticed a LiveWallpapers.apk file.. Now obviously it won't work on any of my android devices, as they are not SE, but I was wondering if it would work on the X10 (or other SE android devices, I suppose) Would someone be willing to install and test this for me?
**I shall not be help responsible if somehow this screws something up, although its unlikely it won't.. **
I would greatly appreciate it if someone could do this for me

It says there is a problem parsing the package

Damnit.. I suppose you would have to use root explorer/or adb and push the application to systems/apps then?
Anyone know how to make it so you don't have to do that?

haha, oh. I didn't pick a very good app for you folks to test then if its the same. But you're saying it installed correctly?
Would you be willing to try out another one.? Lol, sorry to be a hassle. Feel free to decline.
I was thinking the TimeScape widget maybe.? Lol, I've attached some random ones, fee, free to test to see if they work or not.

those 3 apps couldn't install.
via adb:
MusicWidget

and the last one, SystemUI ... just couldn't install.
so i deleted one in my X10 and pushed apk via adb
... statusbar's gone
well whatever you want to do with these apk you should decompile it

Could you give me guidance on how to decompile apk's?
BTW, thanks a lot for playing along haha.

If i am not mistaken there is whole thread instructing you on how to port this apps to the x10...

Hm, after searching the forums a bit, I can't seem to find that thread.. If you've got a minute, would you mind trying to find it then posting the link? Thanks
Oh, and I just used Baksmali to decompile the classes.dex file inside of one of the apk's.. But I have no idea as to where to go from there. hah.

i don't know where to get those files from or even what to do. this is what i'm going to do. i'm going to flash a rom that has that included then i'm going to titanium backup the blockbuster apk. once i do that, hopefully tb backs up everything that is needed to run the apk then i will just do a restore of blockbuster after i flash back to cm6. i will probably try the new nightly to see what that new lock screen looks like.
Yea there are a couple of drm files that your going to have to copy over as well. If you download the ota alone its easier to pick it out the stuff you'll need.

It's not meant to be an apk that you install onto the phone.
(1) Download the file onto your PC and unzip it.
(2) Enable USB Debugging mode on your phone.
(3) Connect the phone to your PC.
(4) Click on the "SuperOneClick" file in the unzipped folder.
(5) Click on the "Root" button.
(6) Wait until it says that root is successful.
(7) Unplug your phone from the PC and manually reboot it.
(8) Your phone is unrooted!
thanks, I will get a laptop from my work this evening and try.
So (yes I am a noob) should I downloading this file on the phone or on the computer??

You should be downloading it to a PC and running it from there.
Oh, I forgot to add that you need to reboot your phone manually before it is detected to be rooted.

Apk files have respective odexes that devs use to supposedly save space.
Deodexing means you convert it back to a .dex file and put it back inside the apk.
This allows you to easily replace files (not having to worry about odexes), but the main point was to deodex services.jar so that you can change all text to different colors (such as the clock color to white) and to deodex services.jar, you need to deodex everything.
I'll upload what I have after elclassico

you might want to delete Email.apk and MobilePrint.apk first because these two were the ones that I deodexed ignoring the errors. (lotsa errors with Email.apk. be wary of that one )
most of the errors in these two files were related to some awt libraries that are missing. I think (or hope) that they used these libraries only for debugging, so it shouldn't crash theoretically.
lemme know if it works guys ! can't wait for my phone to arrive

the logcat doesn't look good at all. I think I'll wait until samsung releases the proper sources for our phone before I make another attempt. This was all built with the korean sources and the error it throws now doesn't help much.

ok, I'm a little restless and tenacious... i was able through some hoops and jumps to get a libwebcore with samsung's korean sources that matches the size of the one in your phone exactly (basically the build config of crespo.. should match the sII's except for the target_board_platform). I've not applied any arabic patches to it yet. just please try it and see if it at least runs ? (if it does, we have a winner !! )
