Hello all.... can i get some assistance please???
ROM Manager should make your life a little easier.
Install ROM Manager, start it up, make sure that you RTFM.
To save yourself from making unrecoverable mistakes, search the forum for "nandroid backup" and do one before you start messing about with updating your ROM. You might want to investigate Titanium Backup so that your installed programs and data can be reloaded after a wipe.
Or:
Download 7.0.3, like you probably downloaded your nightly build, and flash it on CWR (ClockWork Recovery).
You'll probably need to convert your Gen (I had to), for that I used a thing called CM7 Universal Converter, worked for me, should work for you. Download it, put it into your SD card (like CM) and then install CM and after CM install the converter.
ok i'm a little confused about the role, if any, the rom manager plays with the epic 4G... if we are supposed to 3 finger into Recovery to nandroid and run zip files/flash roms, and we cannot use the rom manager for rom updates, what good does it do us?

Once kernels are CWM 3.0.2.5 compatible it will be more useful. You will be able to reboot into recovery through Rom Manager, and possibly update roms all through it. Also CM7. Once its done.
but until then should i just delete it from my epic? is there ANY use to it for us right now?

I've seen others say they've used it to fix permissions, which CAN solve some issues. But it's just a shortcut, you can do that from CWM. So its not NEEDED. I personally don't use it.

that is my understanding , too ...... until then though it is not of much use to us
It will boot to 3.0.2.x without errors, but you will get errors if you try to use any functions. Better to give Sprint the 3 finger salute. ;-)

i have a htc wildfire s-off on cm7.0.3 atm with cwm 3.0.0.6 (i think but definitely 3+), i want to flash jokerdroid rom and just wanted to know the best procedure to follow, ie through rom manager or through cwm itself. thanks in advance
EDIT: ignore this and could this thread be deleted, solved the problem myself
We've gotten alot of response from the Desire community so thank you all for your help. At this time we do not need any more testers for the desire. BootManager should be updated with support for the Htc Desire in the next few days. The app currently won't support rom's that use apps2sd and data2sd but our team is working on getting support for those as well. Thanks.
Hey guys my team has developed an app called bootmanager which went into the market today. The app let's you install rom's to your sdcard and boot between them. I had originally done an inc only version here that used your recovery for installing rom's. The new app installs the rom's directly through the app and then let's you boot between them. Anyway on to the point of this post...i'm looking for 1 or 2 beta testers to add support for the desire. You'll need a little knowledge of adb, root of course, and just a little bit of patience. So far has worked pretty well on every htc device wev'e tried so I'm confident we can add support for the desire as well. You can get a little more info about the app from the link in my sig or looking at it in the market. If your interested pm me so I can get the info needed for the desire(.i.e partition sizes and a few other things that i'll tell you how to find in adb) and I'll send the apk for you to try. Thanks for your help....
Very interesting app! Would hboot have to be compatible (ie right size) with all the installed roms or as they are installed to SD does it not matter?

by hboot your refferring to the bootloader? This doesn't change the bootloader. It makes img's on your sdcard which hold your system/data/cache files for the rom, then it edits the boot.img for that rom to point to those img's when booting. Then the app flashes the boot.img for the rom you want to boot too.
I would be very interested in trying this out as I pretty much change my ROM on a daily to weekly basis haha, I just can't stop! This would be a good way to nurture my need for all the ROMs I switch between all of the time.
Would this app work on a non rooted phone? I mean having the stock ROM in the phone and a rooted one on the SDcard. But I guess it wouln't...

No you need an unlocked bootloader to switch the boot.img. And root to do a number of other things involved in setting up the rom.

Once you go MIUI you don't go back I can't bring myself to use anything else LOL!
Oh I tried MIUI-XJ, it's nice to know that you're happy with it ^^ I used it for about three to four days and felt that I was using an iPhone more so than an Android and I prefer the feel/look of Android devices... I loved being able to theme it so easily, though. I like the transparency mods in NeoPhyte ROMs and bits and pieces of many others... I should just figure out how to make my own.
I hope that you got my response, Conap! My sent items folder said I hadn't sent anything but I am most positive that I did so I will wait to hear back from you =D.
Yeah, sure I could help with the testing... Do you want somebody with that knows ADB etc..?
got Miui XJ on phone rom and tried to boot CM7.
working without problems so far!
thank you. gonna look into this now
Should we run the update after the rom has been installed, so it updates the boot.img ? Haven't tried running the update.zip directly from bootmanager yet, but works fine from recovery.
Installed MIUI-108050 on my HTC Desire (stock boot/S-ON)
looks fantastic....im new to android and my desire but i am currently using neo's reflex s rom and i love it...i really want to try MIUI but i love reflex!
Gonna sticky this thread, keep up the hard work

whats wrong herre?
maybe not compatible with sense based rom? cuz according to the replies here, only aosp roms seem to work
hello...
Iam running miui 1.7.22. and looking to update to miui 1.8.5.
been search a litle around and are still litle unsecure on how to do this.
Do i just boot into aMAGLDR and go into boot ad sd and pick the rom from the SD card and install ?
just like i did when first installed miui 1.7.22.
Or have i forgoten some steps i need to do?
thanks for all the help ...
Yup that is ok
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
if you don't use clockworkmod it's ok. if you use cwm go into the recovery and chose install zip from sd.
And just btw you can back up your data using MIUI backup first, then restore everything when you have updated your ROM. If you're using CMR I believe you can just update the ROM without losing your data, but that depends on which MIUI ROM (I think the stock one can only be flashed using magdlr, so if you're using a SD version it must be from the forums?) you're using and it's better to check the individual threads for that particular ROM.
oh i forgot to say that.
Iam not running from sdcard. iam using [ROM] HTC HD2 Leo MIUI.us Presents MIUI 1.8.5 Fastest Version Yet Pure English [AOSP]
called runing from nand?
Likewei92: backup part isnt that importent realy. since its okay to reinstall eveything. Just helps me learn it bether
Thank for the respons to. .
