Holy f**k guys! I have root on the new update! - Atrix 4G General

False alarm f**k!! man I thought i had it uhhhhhh!
MOD EDIT: Watch the Language.

Try and use it.

Just because you have superuser installed doesn't mean you still have root access. In fact, I'm guessing you probably don't have root access.

Very cool thanks for the heads up.
Anyone tried this? Just curious im already rooted just maily would like it to unroot.
sent from LG Dare lol
It worked great for me, I rooted with it, tried a few root only apps...then I unrooted with it to see if it works, and it worked...then I rooted again so I can use those root only apps.
worked for me. painless, and quick. total time....less than 5 minutes.

Really Works? The Rooted Apps too?
Does this really work and do the rooted apps function? Why does this work and the bootloader has not been cracked? Cunfused....
And now there's this too.
I cant seem to get this to work. I downloaded the file, went and clicked root me and it just sits there. How long does it normally take
If that's all you did, then you need to reread the instructions. I'm sure it clearly states to toggle Bluetooth or wifi. I don't want to burn anyone but in my opinion, if you can't follow instructions maybe you shouldn't be rooting your phone.

will we still be able to use the one click method to root our phones after we have installed OTA update Froyo 2.2 from verizon in September. I have not rooted my X yet because the only thing i need it for is wifi tether and adblocker, i dont really need the custom ROMs. will i still be able to do this once my phone has received the update, if not will they develop a root for phones that have been updated via OTA
sorry for being such a noob thanks for your help

You cannot currently root a 2.2 device (unless you upgraded with that update.zip to 2.2 and moved SU), but I m sure that it will come sooner rather than later
universal androot
Im using universal androot and have my phone rooted, which i believe is the same thing as 1click root will i still get the ota in September with root on, I hope i have not posted in a inappropriate place I just was curious.
Bro, were did you get this universal androot?

I tried universal androot v1.6.1 and it was a no go, seemed soon after installing toolkit it kicked me out. I did the update.zip so i'm up to 2.2 now. Gonna try the droidx root in the first post see if that does it.

theres no way to root a 2.2 device yet, u have to root in 2.1 first then move su around and then move it again once upgraded to 2.2

this is incorrect. you can root your 2.2 Droid X with this method: http://www.droid-life.com/2010/08/26/droid2-rooting-method-works-for-droidx-running-froyo/
worked like a charm on first go for me.
My speaker on the back of my droidx is blown i need to take it to verizon. How do i get rid of superuser permissions app in app drawer? I rooted with universal androot. I was told you have to remove it first then unroot. So i looked for it in app manager to delete it but its not there. I tried unrooting it still not there. Rooted it back still not there. Thanks for ur help.

Traded the DINC in for the DX and rooted in 2 minutes!!!!!! Kinda miss the DINC, well I miss HTC Sence
does this one click root work for the 2.2? and is there a chance that the fone will not root correctly and not work?

Froyo update from htc

The update is now ready. Downloading now!!
Yep! Its official.
me too me too i'm installing it!
its prolly the same as the manual update
It has a different build number.
My wifes phone that isn't rooted picked up the update but my rooted phone won't. Did they find a way to keep rooted users from getting the update?
If you're rooted, or want to root in the future, DO NOT INSTALL THIS UPDATE.
When people say it removes root, that is an understatement. It also PREVENTS ROOT in the future!
Until someone hacks the release to re-allow root, you won't be able to root it ever. That is of course, assuming that it can even be done.
So unless you never want to root, avoid it.
If you installed the "pre-release" version don't install this either, I believe HTC is working on a fix for those who applied the update from last Friday.
Just wanted to say I have the manual update, tried to reset with RUU, and it failed, rebooting it back to my home screen...........****

see....this is a very common asked question,
if you root your phone by propc method Link, it will give you a gingerbread theme.
but if you root your phone directly, then you will have same appearance, only there will be a Super User Permission app.
and you asked about gingerbread ROM, you wont get it now.
bcoz there is no custom ROM for it. developers are working hard to get it. so you need to wait for some time.
rooting is absolutely safe if you follow each step carefully.
i will recommend you to use this guide. Link
hope you succeed!

Rooted on 4.1.57 even after update??!!

Ok so i managed to undo my hacked webtop, but i never unrooted my phone before updating to 4.1.57. Now my phone is updated and it says its on 4.1.57 but it still has super user and that still functions? Does this mean it is still rooted? I thought it was supposed to be removed? I am sort of confused whether this is good or bad? Any input? Thanks
Try to run something that requests for su permission... it wont work....

same here but i didnt have the webtop hack just aroot and tether bypass and i still have all of what i had before super user and t-back up and my bypass for tethering....looks like i am still rooted can get into all files and what not
i did use some root required apps like root manager and they all work?

Can you go to adb or terminal and do "su"? It probably won't work.
A lot of other people were misinformed as well. The old apps are there but don't have root permissions. The Dev section has a dead simple script to run to root it though. You need to undo all mods or flash to stock and then follow their instructions.
I reversed my mods in a few minutes (redexed and reversed WTM) then I upgraded, rooted and deodexed and did the WTM again
oh ok, im not sure how to do that im very new to all this but i will take your word for it, can you help me on how to undo all the mods? Should i just unroot it? How do i redex and reverse wtm and what is wtm im so sorry for my questions .

WTM = Webtopmod.
I'm not an expert but I'm well versed with command lines and basic programming. Your best bet is to flash everything to stock rather than reversing the mods manually. This will give you a fresh slate to work with.
I presume that you have an AT&T Atrix so here's the link to the thread you need. It has all the appropriate info and I suggest you post any further questions in there. I always try hitting threads and helping everyone out where I can. If I can't get to your next inquiry, I'm sure someone else can help.
I don't go out much but the wife and I are going to a concert.. so next time I'm XDA tonight I'm going to be pissed drunk and probably lipping people off.
(don't drink and post!)
Thanks so much, but last question for some reason the link wont show up?
Try running titanium backup. If that starts then you sir, still have root access
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
yep bongd was right the original apps i had still work but no new ones work,
so what do you guys suggest that i wipe my atrix and reinstall everything? is there anyway to back up with out root access?
the dead-on telltale test:
download Terminal Emulator from the market, open it, and type "su". if you get a #, then you have root.

[Q] Total Noob Question about the Droid Razr M and Rooting

Ok y'all I'm just going to come out and preface this by saying that I'm a noob when it comes to rooting phones and don't quite understand it. What is rooting exactly? What are the benefits to rooting? Does it void the phone's warranty? And what is the best method for rooting the Droid RAZR M running 4.1.1 Jelly Bean? Is there any way to "un-root" a phone once it's rooted?
Gunner out!
There was is an old website. Ummmm what's it called ummm how you say ummmmmm ..... oh yeah Google.
Rooting makes the phone more fun to play with. Yes it voids the warranty. Yes you can unroot.
Hit up Google. They supposed to be some sort of informational website or something.
And don't take my sarcasm wrong dude. Im just messing with ya. If you decide to root this thing and you need help ima hook you up. I knew squat about android when I found this place and I was led by the hand for a bit. I don't mind giving back!

I'm all ears
I have always used root, as a preface to installing custom recovery and a custom rom. I don't know how new you are so please don't be offended when I say custom recovery and roms give you more options and more freedom to make your phone yours. I also root to remove system apps that aren't used commonly called bloatware that come preinstalled on your device and without root you can not uninstall these. There are apps on the market that require root to gain use or full use like setCPU, root explorer and titanium backup there are others as well. I hope this little bit of information helps you make your decision!
Here's a link to the guide on how to root your phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940630
Its really easy. Just download the moto droid razr drivers and install them on your PC. Follow the directions on the screen. Just a couple button presses and presto. The program will let you know that it has successfully gained root. Use root checker from Google play to verify proper root. Should you run into root access issues. Here is a zip that will fix that.
Delete the original su file and superuser apk from the motofail2go folder and replace them with the files located in the root zip and paste them in the motofail2go folder. Rerun the program and it should work then. Good luck.
