[Q] Custom Kernel bootscreen kinda weird... - Epic 4G General

I flashed Twilight and everything is great except the bootscreen has "android" in the middle of the screen when it boots. I swear I've read how to fix it before a couple weeks ago but now I cannot find the the post. Will anyone help? Thanks!
Edit: Nevermind, I did a little more digging..

Care to share what you found. I have the same issue. Flashed the genocide kernal it's working great other than the goofy bootscreen.

It friends on the situation. If your on a custom rom that has a boot animation in it you need to flash the rom and kernel a second time work out wiping.
If your on a rom that uses the stock boot animation you need to delete the stock animation and add a boitanimation.zip to system/media.
I forget the exact files to delete

The fix will be in the kernel, not the ROM. It was never a ROM problem and never will be. Samsung broke RNDIS in the kernel.

Need to delete boot*.qmg from /system/media/
And then PowerOn.wav from /system/media/ I believe for the bootup audio

[Q] How to revert from ROManager 3.0.0 to 2.x

I used a method that someone posted here to get ROMANAGER 3.0.0.
Now it can't flash anything.
How do I revert it back?
It's called working on CM7...
I'd head desk, but i'd only be feeding the trolls.
But how come villain is beating him to the punch?
gingervillain is based off builds of cm7 so.... yeah.
So from what I understand, cyanogen is hard at work, building a masterpiece, while Villain is taking the intermediate "prototypes" and releasing it, with a few minor tweaks of his own?
Have you flashed some of the unofficial cm7 builds?

Yup pretty much... also, I belive CM is gearing to start running the nightlies again, as the current cmsrc if really stable.
I'm running CM7 right now. I think the OP is terribly uninformed.

You got ClockworkMod 3.0. To flash to 2.x just use ROM Manager to flash the recovery.

incredikernel | no0b question

How should I go abount intalling intellikernel on cm7rc3 . I am a noob and do not really understand the importance of having a seperate kernel (incredikernel is supposed to be superior than the default CM7) .. would I have to do some tweaks after I flash this?
Do I need to wipe anything before I flahs this or any new kernel? is it stable?

That is for the Droid Incredible.
That is why it will not work on our phone.
You can only flash 3rd party kernels related to your phone, and your skin design. meaning you cannot flash an AOSP kernel for Sense ROM, nor a DInc kernel to a OG Droid.
But I am running CM7 RC3 ... which is AOSP.... I am a little confused.

But the Kernel you are looking at is for the Droid Incredible, not for the HTC Glacier. They are two different phones, with two different hardware packages. You must use AOSP kernels for the HTC Glacier.
Could you suggest one that you really like? and do I have to wipe anything before I flash any kernel?

Personally i suggest running the stock kernel that came with your ROM. And i will only use the kernel that comes with the ROM. The developers have built the ROM to run around that kernel. So it should work the best. I know Faux123 has built some top notch kernels....but i cannot speak first hand.

scroll down until you get to cm7 kernels and download the latest grandkin kernel! instructions are on the page =)
I use fauxs oc/uv just cause he's awesome and you can oc it to 1.8 ghz but you have to be careful when overclocking I'd suggest setting up the governers and profiles in setcpu after flashing the kernel. But no you don't need to wipe anything just boot into recovery and install

Hey y'all, I have CM7 on my Evo and tried to flash incredikernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848453 using clockwordmod rom manager. Everything seemed to go fine but now it will not get past the white htc evo 4g boot screen. How shall I proceed? I was going to just reflash CM7 but wanted to see what the 'correct' thing to do is, help please!
SOLVED, I definitely learned something new today. Kernels are phone specific haha!

Flashing Kernel on Stock Help

Hello XDA,
I have been searching around but can't find anything relative to my experiences.
I have tried flashing many different kernels on top of my rooted stock 2.2 and I always end up with a boot loop of the HTC logo.
I was wondering if there is a way to flash a different kernel and have it function properly. I want to be able to overclock and install a patch from the call recording app in the DEV section. A link to reading material would suffice or any help would be appreciated.
Info:
Stock 2.2 rooted
Tmobile G2
Thanks again

You could try using a Virtuous kernel, I'm not sure if they will work on stock though.
Here's a link to some kernels.
You should really install a custom rom though if you want performance.

Thanks for the reponse. I was using CM7 and loved it, but I really need my call recording to work and it was very intermittent with CM7.
I got it working properly on stock now by installing baconbits 0.3 then flashing the kernel and for some reason it worked.
If you have any suggestions as to a "stockish" type rom, I'm open to it.

Virtuous Sense is based off the official updates from HTC, only optimized and touched up a bit.

Missing Flash_Image

Guys i've flashed SFM 3.0 hero, good rom but the wifi doesn't works so i want come back to stock. the big problem is that's my sister's phone and this rom has deleted the recovery and now i don't manage to reinstall it. it says flash_image not found. i even tried with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253 at the step missing flash image, but every thing i do it get reveals useless. here's a screenshot of prompt adb: http://imageshack.us/f/338/immaginevi.png/
Guys please help me, it's important!
more details:
i've started with the stock 2.1 and rooted with universal androot and flashed SFM 3.0 with AmonRA recovery.
now if i try open the recovery it's stuck on the bootlogo. i tried with fastboot, adb, the official RUU but it says that my phone's firmware is wrong.
update: now doesn't stuck on the boot logo, but it boots normally without a recovery.
it's rooted on the SFM 3.0 rom and give the "flash_image not found" error
first things first. i have no idea how to get back to stock using the official RUU
however i do have a few alternatives you could try just in case you don't find the answer your looking for
now you say you flashed sfm 3.0. a similar rom to this would be Wildheroc ROSE V5. its exactly the same as sfm 3.0 but its more stable. it can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316886 also you could try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24343144&postcount=500 which is a themed version of ROSE V5 created by slobo2712.
if your looking for a stock rom then i highly recomend Heroine ++ which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295991 this rom is seriously fast. its basically the same as stock with a few minor adjustments here and there
there are other roms which remove sense from your phone that i could recommend but if your looking to keep sense on your phone then those two roms are the ones I'd highly recommend
i know this doesn't exactly answer your question of how to flash the official RUU from HTC but as i said previously in the post i simply don't know. these are just a few options you could try if you don't find your answer.
if i can't access the recovery how can flash another rom??

Can you still use the phone normally???? If so maybe try installing Rom manager from the market and then flashing the recovery from there
Could be worth a try

i managed it with an official RUU, don't remember wich. now i've another problem. from 2.1 stock i've flashed Elelinux gingerbread ROM, but 3D games like dead runner wich worked on stock rom on this one don't work. maybe the kernel? i still have the stock one.

Do you DEFINITELY still have the stock kernal? The reason I ask is because Elelinux roms usually come with flykernal13.
Sometimes re flashing a rom can solve issues. So I'd say go into your recovery and wipe data 2 or 3 times just to make sure because 1 wipe sometimes doesn't get rid of everything. Then wipe cache and dalvik cache and then re flash the rom
If that doesn't work then you could try flashing the Las Venturas kernal but I'd doubt it would be a kernal problem
You're wright it isn't a kernel problem but i did all kind Of wipes but 3D games and applications don't work

Hmmm if they worked on stock then I'd expect a newer version of Android to be ok as well . I'm not a big gamer on my phone so can't say I've ever experienced these problems
What games and applications don't work? And do they not work completely? Or just not as good as on stock?

I've never touched the bootloader so I'm afraid I can't really answer that question
As for best Rom. There isn't really an overall best rom. It all just comes down to personal preference and what your looking for in a Rom but there are roms that are a step ahead in each android version.
If stock 2.1 is what your looking for then you can't beat heroine ++ if you want sense or you could try VE 6.2 if you want AOSP
As for 2.2 froyo you could try FloYo. I used it once and it seemed ok
And as for 2.3 gingerbread. If your after a 2.3 sense Rom then wildheroc is by far the best one around at the moment. As for 2.3 AOSP roms I'd highly recommend decked_x or any of the elelinux roms or even the two latest cyanogenmod nightlies

[Q] Bluetooth Streaming with Cyanogenmod 10.1 - short breaks

Hi guys,
I use Cyanogenmod 10.1 shortly after I bought my Nexus 10 and had these reboots the whole time.
Usually I update once or twice a week to the current nightlys (depending on the changelog).
A problem I have from the beginning (with CM): When I stream music with Google Music to a Logitech Bluetooth receiver it works. But every 20-30 seconds I have a litte break in the playback. On my Galaxy S2 also with CM 10.1 I never had this problem.
What I did to solve the problem. Today I installed the stock Nexus 10 4.2.2 from Google and tried to reproduce the error. It worked fine. No problem at all.
Then I completely wiped the Nexus 10 again and installed the current nightly - from the scratch. Just installed Google Music and did a test. The same bluetooth problem again.
Ah and when I use a bluetooth keyboard the keyboard also loses connection time and again. Here the problem is even worse. When I´m are in web form the page gets reloaded and all I entered so far is gone...
Has anybody an idea?
I´m willing to give you all the information you need to help me (logcats etc.)
Thanks in advance
Marrtin

You can. :good:
If you download and unzip the official rom package from google, you will find another zip inside. Extract that, and you will see a different rom for each partition of your nexus 10. boot.img is the kernel, and it can be flashed from fastboot using command "fastboot flash boot boot.img".
Thanks,
EDIT: If the KTManta kernel doesn't suffer bluetooth streaming issues for anyone else, flashing it instead of stock should serve as an equally good test. The original reason I mentioned flashing the stock kernel is because I too have seen bluetooth streaming issues, both with CM10 and when using the stock rom with franko r12 kernel. I'm now running completely stock rom and kernel, and have no issues.

If I switch back to CM, I'l be sure to test it. I'm currently in the process of deciding just how much I love "CRT Off", which I don't know if CM has added yet
Is there a solution for this stuttering problem? I have tried many roms and kernels, but bluetooth stutters when wifi is on.
