As fast as Cyanogen is on the phone, CPU/GPU wise, it's networks speed are a tad slower then other ROMS. That i am aware of there is nothing to you can do increase network speed. If that were possible i believe they would have already done it and build it into the ROMs.
Agreed with above. Not much that can be done. You can try editing your build.prob. look in the q&a stickies and there is an explinarion on how to do it.

i compared my speeds to my friends stock mytouch 4g, there are no difference in speeds at all. it's all in your head.
Youtube has been slow in general all day today and yesterday, even on my home internet connection, with loads of free bandwidth, I got spinny circles of doom.
connect it to wifi and see if youtube is still running slow?
ive never had a speed problem with cm7!

I can actually say that my speeds have dropped by 1-2Mbps and that's testing it on the exact same tower from before and afterward, using our micro-tower at a T-mobile call center.

This is part of aosp. They are slower. If you want to keep the speed and have the straight Google look go back to stock and use gingerbread launcher from the market.

It's an "EVO 3G" in most parts of the U.S.
Even if it were available to me right now I would still use CM6.
No 4G is worth the sacrifice for a fast running ROM... but I can't want for a CM6 with 4G!
Once you have 4g, you will never want to go back to 3g, the speeds are so much better in every app that uses any kind of data.

CM6 is a great ROM but 4g can be had without sacrifice in Fresh or Baked Snack.
Swyped on my EVO
One of the things I liked the most abt CM6 is, modificable power control widget (add or take what you want on it), quick keyboard responsiveness, um can't think of anything else. I normally flash Fresh (3.2.0.0 donate version off HTC's latest 3.28.651.1 build with a MUCH IMPROVED stable and battery saving kernel by HTC, BIG IMPROVEMENTs over Kingklick's kernels! I mean BIG!!!)
When I feel like it, I switch to CM6 to toy around...when it comes to business and stability, I like Fresh (wish there was a senseless version of Fresh!)

Ill probably try it whenever the 4g works.. my phone is fast enough as is and losing 4g is a killer for me. I never got giving up functions for a rom though... *shrug*
Yeah, I mean, we're all paying $10 for 4G. Even though we're not all covered by 4G, it is always an option when traveling, etc. Seems silly to regress IMHO.

If you know how to use a computer you can do it. It looks more intimidating than it is. If you're still on 2.1 use Simple Root (doesn't get any easier). Froyo is a little more lengthy but its not hard. Just read through the tutorials a few times and it won't seem so bad. Sorry to jack the thread.

i will be switching to cm6 once 4g is working. i suppose if i lived in some backwoods area that has no 4g i wouldnt mind not having 4g, but man 4g really helps when doing things on the phone that require lots of data. not only that but sometimes 3g can get so damn saturated that speeds are terrible, usually happens at concerts or places where there are lots of people, i just switch to 4g and bam im good haha.
Phoenix isn't backwoods and Sprint doesn't offer 4G here....

I gave in last night and after 2 weeks of telling myself it wasn't worth the risk of bricking my phone, I rooted it and installed CM6 Stable. It is a great rom, luckily the 4G for me is 2 hours away and I get great 3G coverage so its not a big deal. I saw they made the front page on Engadget today it seems like I jumped aboard at the right time.

Side question:
This my first CM build on a phone. I was wondering what the icon looks like when im getting 3g speeds. So far i have a green icon with a '1x' on it. Sometimes it will go grey. I didnt know if i was even getting my 3g or if its using basic '1g'.

FYI, MMS only works through a 3rd party program. Additionally, headphones still don't work.
I have the G2/Vision and the MT4G/Glacier. I recently d/l a new radio for my G2 that extended battery life to epic proportions. Has there been any development on any new radios for the MT4G? I have looked through all 6 pages of threads in the dev section and could not find anything. Am I missing it, or is there just nothing current for this device?
No one has ventured into radio development, at least not yet.
The current radio is in my sig. It came with the most recent OTA that upgraded Android to 2.2.1

Custom ROMs do not contain radio images. If download speeds are slow on CM7, it's because of the ROM, not your phone's radio.

When using CM or any derivitives of (maybe even AOSP) you will be connected to 3G most of the time until you download or need to use 4G then it will automaticlly switch.
With the stock rom it does not differentiate (visually) between 3G and 4G so even though you think you are on 4G all the time you might not actually be.

Is this why you have posted at least 15-20 times today in different threads with pretty much off topic useless comments? Trying to get your post count up since your account was created yesterday? I for one would never flash a Rom from some one that isnt or hasnt been a part of this community for some time. I also saw this post from you (only a hour ago) that makes me wonder....you are building Roms yet had to have help rooting a phone that is really very simple to root. This of coarse is just my two cents, and of coarse everyone is able to do what ever they want.

While you are new, I'll try that as soon as other people have given a thumbs up to it. but PLEASE try and make the gps consistent. That alone is why I'm sticking with the stock rom - any rom with good wireless data and fully functional GPS is a winner. ESPECIALLY if it's AOSP.

all vanilla android (aosp) ROMs seem to have this reputation. the people who do see this usually don't have this happen all the time but seems to come in spurts and then be ok for a while.
but one thing that does NOT help the situation is jumping around flashing one new ROM / kernel / radio after another over and over in short periods of time. ..feel free to do this if you're really itching to but just don't clog up all the corresponding threads with questions or comments about your battery life, reception, data speeds, etc .... JUST EXPECT inconsistencies if you're currently indulging your flash crack addiction.
it comes with the territory.
and I'm not trying to say don't try other setups out. but if you are really on a 'quest' to find the configuration (ROM/kernel/radio/etc) that works best for YOU - do yourself a favor and give each setup 3 - 4 days AT LEAST .. ideally a week +
not only for the ROM to have a chance to settle in and show you some kind of consistency but to give your worn out phone and battery a rest!
your glacier will be a much happier little block of ice this way, believe me
happy flashing

Let me know how it works.
Just downloaded and installed it. Got everything up and running no problem I have been using AOSP so this is a big change for me but it is very fast for a Sense ROM. I have not had time yet to check on battery life but WiFi calling is working as well as the front camera (two big things for me). Rosie settings lets you change the right dock bar key map so that was nice. Flash works and I will update if I find anything not working. Oh and can't go by Quadrant scores you will never get a high score with Sense just too much eye candy keeping the phone busy but the ROM is very smooth.
