[Q] Latest Radio? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the G2/Vision and the MT4G/Glacier. I recently d/l a new radio for my G2 that extended battery life to epic proportions. Has there been any development on any new radios for the MT4G? I have looked through all 6 pages of threads in the dev section and could not find anything. Am I missing it, or is there just nothing current for this device?

No one has ventured into radio development, at least not yet.

The current radio is in my sig. It came with the most recent OTA that upgraded Android to 2.2.1

Are there any links to stock radios? Cm7 radio sucks for download speeds

Custom ROMs do not contain radio images. If download speeds are slow on CM7, it's because of the ROM, not your phone's radio.

AOSP ROMs are known for slower download speeds. If you don't like it, don't use it simple as that.

Edit the build prop it should fix your slowness on CM7.

Personally i'd rather deal with slightly slower download speeds, then deal with all of the BS that comes with bloated ROM. Sense is a Sumo Wrestler in a room full of Super Models.... think about it, you'll get it.

I would describe Sense a little differently. Sense is the sexy, voluptuous woman that is high maintenance, whereas vanilla Android is a plain and boring girl that you quickly grow tired of.

Im all for performance, I like to get the most out of my device. I also like my interface to be the best looking to show off So with that said what rom in your opinion has the most speed, and stability, as well as all the apps running flawless ie: any video chat, flashplayer setcpu(no crashes) etc....
YES!!!!! i have read through the forums and i think i have almost every rom downloaded to my sd card ready to flash. Just getting mixed reviews based on alot of roms. Waiting to complete a trade over in the Marketplace and when i receive the Mytouch i want to flash something that will shock and amaze me right away.

[Q] Whats better....? CM7 or RoyalGinger 1.6

Over all i want to know comparison please if y'all can help! If you had to choose which one would be better CM7 or RoyalGinger 1.6. I am on CM7 just trying to see if its worth getting RG1.6 help me out here!! Thanks in advance!!!!!
CM7 Nightlies
Thanks I'm really liking it but I heard the RG looks great and saves battery life
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
I switched from cm7 to royal Ginger 1.6. Very fast and responsive. Moving from screen to screen is quick. Apps load up fast. Actually i am having trouble using up my battery everyday before charging it at night. Sometimes it will last two days without needing to be charged. Coupled with faux's latest kernel Cfs lv I have not run into any problems so far. Signals are good and strong.

I have to give that a try sometime. faux keeps releasing a new version every day...i am tempted. I have always been fan of pure google experience (and then customize on my own)
use the new CM7 (7.0.2) its very stable.

I think what is being asked here is not which one is better, because that answer would be based on opinion; the info sought here is what are the ups and downs of each ROM so he will know which one would be best for him.

The only way to know based on your own preference is to try them all. It only takes a few minutes to change roms. I suggest you try them all for a few days each ans go from there.
My personal preference is pure Google. I hate extra stuff. Some people need a little flavor so CM is great. Just try them all and make your own choice

sense 3

will mt4g get sense 3.0?
No, the mytouch uses T-Mobile's version of sense but you can flash a sense 3.0 rom.

Nope. The MT4G slide will, and you can flash the Sense 3.0 for MT4G slide leak if you'd like T-Mobile styled Sense 3.0.

I'm not trying to be mean but you should really read up before rooting. But since you asked perm root is when the radio security is S-OFF and clockwork recovery is the replacement of the stock recovery image which allows you to flash custom roms and kernels etc.

It probably won't. I'd even be surprised if we ever get any more updates after we get the official 2.3.4 mySense.
Either way, Sense 3 is nice but sooooo bloated. Even on the Sensation it's just not smooth like it should be.

It's a shame since it has nice specs too, but Sammy and MIUI are custom UI's that run smoothly...Why is HTC not optimizing sense, it has always been sluggish, sense alone shouldn't need more than 1GHZ 2X cores.

Yeah seriously. Sammy's TW4 is so damn nice. Not very intrusive and they really refined the look. I'm an HTC fanboy like no other buy the SGS2 with TW4 is my clear cut top dog, probably until the N3 comes out. The Sensation is nice but disappointing that HTC's quality control on it is still god awful. And it doesn't help that Sense 3.0 is now even fatter and slower. Something needs to be done with Sense, either they do a complete overhaul or at least open source it so that devs can optimize all that bloat... I really want to love Sense again, so it makes me sad.

lol... well yes, but that ruins the purpose of MIUI
I bounced back and forth between sense and miui for weeks, and finally decided on miui. For my phone, miui is way faster than sense. My battery on sense would only last a few hours under heavy use. With miui, I can go all day and still have battery left over in case I forget to charge it when I go to bed. The argument that using a third party launcher doesn't make any sense to me. The purpose of custom roms is just that, custom. With miui, I can do whatever I want with it just about, it even already has a pretty extensive theme database set up that's as simple as download and apply. Every miui theme is fully customizable, and is compatible with go launcher, which is the launcher I use. I just can't give up my app drawer for some reason. I love miui so much, I even use it on my Nook Color over CM7, it's all about speed for me, and sense really slowed me down.

I like Muiu because it isn't as bulky as sense and still manages to look really good. I basically only use launcher pro so I can keep my app tray. As far as speed and battery, it seems that Miui is the sure winner. I will say that Virtuous Unity seemed a lot less buggy
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
MIUI for me lol. It honestly comes down to the fact that I can have heavy use, lots of customization and still get insane battery life.
I just flashed VU 2.39 again just to see if I would miss it since I used that before Miui and nope. I can't see myself leaving Miui for a sense ROM in the foreseeable future.

Me personally, I don't get better battery life on miui. I get around 12-15 on miui and virtuous unity 2.39 I get 16-24 hours with tdj kernel. Miui's operating system is faster in general but it's not like sense is slow at all so no problem for me. GPS on miui would take forever to lock on then it would drop and require a restart of the app after 5 minutes. Sense GPS locks in seconds for me and doesn't drop. But besides the lockscreen, dr. dre beats eq for music, and overall sense polish, the real, make or break reason I use sense over cm7 and miui is the integration of flash in the sense rom. It just works! No black screens or choppy stuttering (after fixing the the black screen problem by stripping permissions on the flash file) like on miui am cm. Basically if you want your phone to just work then sense makes sense. Use a launcher like go launcher if you want a speedier set up with all the sense integration and under workings. That's what I do. I couldn't be happier !

I prefer Miui simply for the customizations and battery life. I'm a heavy user so battery life is essential and I get roughly 17hrs out of it using tdj kernal. By no means is there anything wrong with a Sense rom, it has great battery life and is visually appealing as well, guess it all comes down to taste! And everybody uses their phone differently and has different setups which determines the battery life you get. Battery Life and Customization is what I look for and is why I chose Miui

Looking for some input

Ok so I don't actually own the my touch, my girlfriend has it, her first one we got maybe back in may? But anyways, it was a piece of ****, all stock of course, she doesn't want me hacking her phone lol. I figured maybe it was just her phone and called tmobile and eventually ended up getting a replacement.. well turns out this is just as big of a piece of ****, hardware wise the phone should run very nicely, would rooting and installing a custom fix most of her issues (which are too long to list atm) and if so, what is the recommended rom? I do know she would like to stay with a GB rom, any advice would be appreciated.

Well, if she does have an HTC myTouch 4G, there are several choices.
One is a the stock rooted ROM w/ any one of several custom kernels.
Another is Android Revolution HD. There are two versions in the dev section, both of which are in the same thread and are great.
Energy ROM is also good, but she may not care for the look.
Also, there is InsertCoin v1.7.1. I'm running that one now and really like it.
Edit: Bas3balman and I are shamelessly promoting the port our team released. Haha.
