[Q] Problems with Ram and NAND - HD2 General

Is there anyone else that can only see on LEO512 that have a total of 420 mb nand memory
and is there anyome that can tell me why i only have about 411 Mb ram on my phone when i use a radio that support 576 Mb of ram

512 minus space for radio and spl, overhead for partitioning and formatting perhaps?
Re the ram, just the radio doesn't unlock the ram, you wont get it on android, only with a tmous based winmo rom.

How Much Memory Should I have?

Newb- ~ 1 week with new Cing-8125 - 1st handheld - it rocks
Why does "Device Info" say
RAM = 64MB
Flash = 128MB
But "Memory" shows:
Memory storage = 47.46MB
Program Total = 44.00MB
This is only 91.46MB
Is this correct ? Where's the rest?
Thanks
I am curious about this as well. According to Device Info, I should have 64MB to run programs and 128MB for storage, but I am well under that. :?
Can anyone explain what is going on???
Thanks,
Dave
You're only going to get 128 MB of ROM and 64 MB or RAM with nothing installed on the device. The ROM, which consists of the OS, the Cingular stuff, and the other included applications takes up quite a bit of storages space, about 57 MB. As for the RAM, the OS needs memory to run as well. I've installed a ton of things on my Cingular 8125 already, so I have no idea what the standard amounts are, perhaps someone would be so kind as to post them.

I understand that, but...
I would expect it to report like so:
Storage
Total: 128 MB
In Use: 38.54 MB
Free: 89.46 MB
Program
Total: 64 MB
In Use: 31.73 MB
Free: 32.27 MB
But instead I get:
Storage
Total: 47.46 MB
In Use: 38.54 MB
Free: 8.92 MB
Program
Total: 44.01 MB
In Use: 31.73 MB
Free: 12.28 MB
So what happened to 80.54 MB of ROM (Storage) & 19.99 MB of RAM (Program)? Are you saying that the base OS uses up this much RAM & ROM, and the system just shows it as not even being there? The actual image (nk.nbf) in the OS installer is 80MB in size so this does seem to add up.

Tmobile HD2 Memory seems low?

I was doing a compare of Tilt vs HD2...
Are there any software tools that analyzes the actual System memory capacities? Is there really 576MB of RAM in this Tmobile HD2?

Yes there is! Actually that RAM amount is available on all the "others" HD2 (eu, au versions), you just need to unlock it with a correct combination of radio and rom..

Under device info, hw info you'll see the total quantity of RAM installed into the device while in memory settings you'll see a little less becase a part of it is used by the OS.
I hope I've been of some help.
1024 MB flash
what is it?
flash is the internal storage space but then you only hav 690.48 MB
where is the rest?
used by OS again?

the rom takes up room, so does the radio, and when the rominstalls itself (first run, or after a hard reset) that uses up more.
think of it likeinstalling your pc. you start with a nice empty disk, but by the time windows 7 has been installed it has used 6gig of space before you even run it for the first time.

ROM in Galaxy 3!!

I was just reading about the specs of Galaxy 3 on http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i5801_galaxy_apollo-3432.php
There was a line about memory which says:
Internal 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM
Now, in this, I understood 256 MB RAM which is the amount of memory used for running apps
But I am confused regarding 512MB ROM....what is this and what it is used for in user's context?
Think of it as internal memory-> For the ROM/FW and apps on phone (installation space)
So, I understood 256 MB RAM which is the amount of memory used for running apps
512 MB ROM is the memory used for installing apps and firmware (in other words: operating system)...correct?
Thanks for the confirmation..

[Q] HD2 T-mobile version with 767MB RAM / Android ROM - available RAM inconsistency

I have been using a few consecutive versions of NDT MIUI ROM successfully without many issues, however I noticed that the ROM does not seem to utilize all of the installed internal memory:
"Internal memory: 512MB (available), 767MB (total)"
(Settings -> System -> About Phone)
My device is HTC HD2 US (T-mobile) edition with 767MB RAM. I am using NDT MIUI Gingerbread-based ROM for HD2, stable release v.2.2, Androind v.2.3.5; MAGLDR version.
(Thread for the ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010498)
Have I missed or used something extra during the initial installation that limited my phone's RAM for the operating system to 512MB? (While installing MAGLDR, Clockwork Mod, etc.) If so, would anyone have a suggestion as to how I can utilize all of the RAM installed on my phone?
Strange figures, since the tmous has 1024meg ROM and 576meg RAM.
Ack, yes, my bad--my flu-affected head helped me remember the proper stats incorrectly. Yes, your numbers are correct, of course. The ROM should be 1024MB and the RAM should be 576MB. Current readings are, however:
"RAM: 512MB"
"Internal memory: 505MB (available), 767MB (total)"

I assume that the rest of the internal memory is taken up by the recovery partition? So it only shows 767 total, some of which is used by applications? Complete guess though, correct me if I'm wrong.
dunno about the ram, all android roms show 411 in my experience, (reg hd2) , as for the ROM, total available size only shows you the space allocated to the data partition, which is set to 'allsize' in the flash.cfg, meaning after the rom, cwm, boot and cache partitions have been created, whatever is left is for data, and that is the only partition the system counts towards available storage space.

[Q] help: lost my ram or rom ??????

I been a while I did not come around here and totaly lost. If I remember my , my phone, a t-mobile usa have enough ram not to have any memory problems for my use. If I remember I should have 1024 megs. I've instaled touchwizmod_hd2 (v3) and now have a total of 528meg with only a bit over 60meg free. Where is my memory now? I've did a few search but lost my patience before finding my answer. Please can you help me or direct me where is the solution ...
now seen on storage:
total space: 528mb
avail. 67.33
apps 380
cached data 8.1
sdcard
59.45gb
no need for detail for this.
I was thinking the same, but both EU & TmoUS HD2 have the same amount of RAM of 512MB (or 576MB if you may)
I guess You have installed your ROM on nand (?)
Try reflashing it on dataOnExt or just put everything on SD, your sd card is HUUUGE

I'm fairly sure that's your ROM not RAM. In the RAM statistics you should see around 411 total regardless of whether you have an EU or TMOUS HD2. What /system partition size did you use when flashing recovery? Do you have an EXT partition on your SD card? How many apps do you have installed on your phone? The answers to those questions could all help in figuring out your problem.

in ram applet:
Ram status: 237mb/410mg
In Storage applet:
Internal phone storage 438mb/538mb (should it be 1024 here)
external SD:
27.30gb/59.45gb
Where I've installed it, im ram I think.... I dont want it un the SD. All program moved to SD dissapear from theme after rebooting, I hate that. Never had that kind of pronblem before.
