[Q] help: lost my ram or rom ?????? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I been a while I did not come around here and totaly lost. If I remember my , my phone, a t-mobile usa have enough ram not to have any memory problems for my use. If I remember I should have 1024 megs. I've instaled touchwizmod_hd2 (v3) and now have a total of 528meg with only a bit over 60meg free. Where is my memory now? I've did a few search but lost my patience before finding my answer. Please can you help me or direct me where is the solution ...
now seen on storage:
total space: 528mb
avail. 67.33
apps 380
cached data 8.1
sdcard
59.45gb
no need for detail for this.

I was thinking the same, but both EU & TmoUS HD2 have the same amount of RAM of 512MB (or 576MB if you may)
I guess You have installed your ROM on nand (?)
Try reflashing it on dataOnExt or just put everything on SD, your sd card is HUUUGE

I'm fairly sure that's your ROM not RAM. In the RAM statistics you should see around 411 total regardless of whether you have an EU or TMOUS HD2. What /system partition size did you use when flashing recovery? Do you have an EXT partition on your SD card? How many apps do you have installed on your phone? The answers to those questions could all help in figuring out your problem.

In Storage applet:
Internal phone storage 438mb/538mb (should it be 1024 here)
external SD:
27.30gb/59.45gb
Where I've installed it, im ram I think.... I dont want it un the SD. All program moved to SD dissapear from theme after rebooting, I hate that. Never had that kind of pronblem before.

It's OK, every build is using different size of the memory.
How much free memory does it show?
Total 253mb
Free 131mb
It's MIUI build
But how can i chick what is the size of my internal memory.
No that is about right, you are lucky that is pretty good for EU HD2.
P.S this is not a question thread
Sent from my 1GB T-MOBILE HTC HD2 using XDA App xD
I recall at sometime in the past Android on HD2 could only use 384M stabley, dunno if this has been upped since???
EDIT: If the OP is talking about ROM then ignore what I said above.
Edit: Never mind, not thinking clearly

NAND is now partitioned, internal memory in Android only shows you how much left of and total size of the data partition.
You also have a system partition which is around 100mb for MIUI/CM/AOSP builds and about 200MB+ for Desire ROMs.

It is 512 - mine too
Just that miui is taking some part for the system to install.
This is not SD or RAM build, so you have to deal with what you have.
you can try this and install on SD:
Root your HD2 Android phone by donwloading z4root.apk.
Download and install ModInstallLocation.
In Superuser app, allow ModInstallLocation app.
In ModInstallLocation app choose location 2 (SD Card) and save
Maybe restart can't remember.
From now on any app you download will AUTOMATICALLY be installed on SD card. Also you can move your existing apps from Phone to SD in the Application settings.

it still takes up memory in the internal storage. Not the whole app gets transfered.
I got 65 user apps and games installed (according to TI backup) and have 125mb left. Got tons of more games i would like to play, but to chose freedom of not being dependent on the SD card, ill compromise.

Check out this, this may help!!!
I'm not running your rom, but if it helps I can show you what's taking up the space on my jdms rom. This is on 1024 leo
/system - 146mb
/data - 742mb
/cache - 40mb
So 1024-146-742-40 = 96mb used by radio, hardspl and magldr. 72mb if you include the 24mb of questionable space you can squeeze out of magldr.
Although I'm not entirely sure how the 1024mb is calculated in the first place. Memory and storage people tend to like to use 1,024,000,000 bytes as 1024mb, if that's the case then radio, hardspl, magldr + 24mb would only take up 48mb (that actually sounds more right to me).
jep, at 512leo it's like ~ 90mb system.img, 5mb boot.img, rest of 282 in my case (custom modified cm build) "data.img".
if cwm installed 5mb recovery, 1m misc, 32mb cache.
90+5+5+1+32+282 = 415, rest is used by bootloader, hspl, radio, firmware itself etc.

[Q] internal storage

For some reason I don't have much memory left in my internal storage.
Already moved almost every app to SD.
What do i do?
Get a TMO US 1024 HD2
What rom are you running? Many of the later builds now incorporate a2sd+ or data2ext which frees up more space. This however involves having to partition your sd card. Check the threads out that have these terms in their titles.

2.2 NAND.
What is TMO US 1024 HD2?
This is getting pretty annoying though. Moved every app to SD, can't install a game because the internal storage is low.
I found a thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908528
But what are they? Noob here, don't know anything about such things... Is it a rom? Is it as stable as Android nand 2.2? Do I need to start from scratch to install it?

2.2 NAND, but which one? There are many roms using 2.2 NAND.
There are 2 types of HD2, the standard one had 512mb memory and there is a T Mobile USA HD2 which has double ie 1024mb memory.
Yes, that rom is a 2.2 NAND rom (based on Desire HD build). Read the instructions carefully on the first post of that thread and you will have plenty of onboard memory left. You can also try the rom linked in my signature. I still have about 700mb left (I have a 1gb partition on my sd card for the data and apps) after installing a heap of apps.
You will need to start again as that rom uses a different installation method ie CWM instead of using daf.exe to flash via usb.

So I lose all my apps that are installed on the SD currently?
Apparently the internal memory on my HD2 is 119 Mb.
I'm surprised that it only has 119 mb total though. It is showing that on Titanium backup. Can't view the total internal storage size normally. Or did this happen due to that rom?

Hi,
No, its not weird. Since european HD2 has only 512MB internal memory, so if you flash a rom it takes about half of your internal storage (depend on a rom you will use). In my case I had only 150mb after flash a rom and partition layout for CWM. That is why I use app2sd+ and installed all apps to sd card's extended partition and moved dalvik cache also to sd and now I have over 160MB free and all apps installed, including some games as well. If you are low on internal storage, you should try that.

That is the very first NAND rom that was released and was more of a poc than anything else. Yes, it is probably normal after installing that rom that there is little space for apps on internal memory. Even if you use an app like App2sd, you are limited in terms of what can be moved. Try one of the more recent roms which allow you to partition your sd card and have that recognised by the rom as internal memory. That way you can have 1gb memory and no more problems. You can take a backup of your apps and restore them (apps only) after flashing the new rom.

Use Titanium Backup or My Backup Root (both available from the market). If your rom is not rooted you will need to use z4root to root the rom first.

The partition won't increase the amount of internal storage that shows up in Settings/Storage
Your phone will still tell you how much actual internal storage you have left, not how much is free in your partition.
You can see how much of the partition is used from Titanium Backup though

Your internal memory should be 220 - 280 mb. You have an european hd2, which means that you have little bit more than 500 mb of internal memory. You flash android + partitioning cwm, that uses your internal memory too.
Are you using a sense rom?
if you are using a AOSP rom, use tthe 150/5 partition. You will have atleast 240 mb of internal memory.
check this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954369
it shows 860mb internal memory...please suggest how to get it....
On a fresh install with no apps downloaded/installed, on a TMOUS HD2, with a 130mb system partition, 860 mb of free space sounds about right.
On your Euro HD2, never gonna happen.
But when you use A2SD, you don't have to worry about your internal memory space, because the apps are not getting installed there. So you can install a ton of apps and your internal memory will only go down very slightly.
The way to check how much room you have left for apps when using A2SD is to use Titanium Backup to view your used/free space on your ext partition.
I have hundreds of apps installed in my ext3, my internal memory has gone down a total of like 5-10mb from what it was when I first flashed the ROM, and my phone still runs smooth as butter. If you have A2SD installed, Settings/Storage/Internal Memory doesn't mean much.
thankyou

[Q] Internal Memory Low Space on ICS 2.4.27-HWA

I have installed MIUI.us-Leo-2.4.27-HWA.ZIP in to my HTC HD2. Everything is working fine except Camera and phones internal memory is very low, only 25MB resulting cannot update any existing applications.
My phones total internal memory memory is 151MB and available is only 25MB.
SD card total space is 15GB and available is 9GB which is fine.
Total downloaded applications are 26 only, so it is not that I have too many application downloaded.
I moved most of the downloaded and other applications to SD card by using titanium backup. Few could not be moved for unknown reason as it does not give me option to move.
Can anyone please help me to increase my internal memory to at least at 70 or 60MB please.
Would appreciate your help.
Ronju Khan.

i have used a few MIUI roms & did not have that problem
what is the data.img that you used?
are you using NAND rom? in that case what was the size of the partition you used, did you follow the recommended size?

Yes, it is NAND ROM. The recommended partition was above 200mb and I used 250mb, so it was okay.
All I need to increase my internal space at least to 60 or 70mb so that application update can be done.
Many thanks
The ROM suggested 200, but you installed 250. You just lost 50 worth o internal storage.
You'll need to install an A2SD script, in order to be able to use your sd card as an internal storage. (of course, after making an ext2 partition )

What is the difference between the ROM size and internal Memory RAM???

Hi Guys,
I have a Defy Plus with DFP-231 Asian Retail version ROM. I had some memory cleaning widget which shows that my applications could use a total of 350 MB memory.....
I thought that the D+ came with 2 GB internal memory so I could load upto ~2GB of games(apps) running. ...:crying:
With all this confusion...
My Question is : What is the Difference between The RAM and ROM and Why is my widget showing only 350 MB usable for apps???
Kindly correct me If I'm wrong in my assumptions.
Cheers,
Vic
do not confuse ram with rom. rom is the storage which stores installed apps and system files, its like the hdd in a pc, and it keeps its content when powered down.
ram is a temporary storage from where apps run, and it clears after a power-down. (memory in a pc)
the defy has 2gb built-in storage (rom), from which 1.2 is usable for apps, and it has 512MB ram (around 470-480 usable).
you probably have a lot of apps installed, thats why the widget shows only 350mb remaining.
Thank you for clearing this

Usable for Apps means memory that can be used to store apps permanently.. It is the available ROM on your device. As stated before the 2GB memory is shared by OS & Apps.
RAM (512 MB on defy+) is temporary and is cleared on reboot and other activities.
