I'm using SC with JT's new voodoo. BLN with Blinky does work but blinking doesn't. Does anyone know a way to make blinking work?

I tried blinky it worked, but it wasn't blinking the lights just stayed on lol i'll give BLN free a try.
Blinky works- the in-app test just doesn't really work. Send yourself a text or something to actually test it out.
+1^^. And I like the auto "save settings" in the new version of blinky.
good day.
I think most of you didn't read my question. BLN "does" work. and BLN Control Free doesn't give you "blinking." Only paid BLN Control gives you "blinking."
Blinky is free and it provides everything including modifying specific time intervals.
My question was blinking doesn't work and is there anyway to get this feature rolling?

How did you test it? If you used the in-app test, don't trust that. Try actually sending yourself a text message, and give it about 5-10 seconds after the lights come on for it to start blinking.
Ofcourse. I tried it with gmail and sms notification.
Blinky works but I found it to eat a ton of battery for no good reason.

On my wife's phone. Bln stopped working. I uninstalled and reinstalled still now luck. Using SC and Jt kernel. Anyone come across this problem?

i was having the problem of my phone not blinking as well ... just a steady light . I ended up getting BLN Pro AND blinky ... blinky recognizes bln , from there i can set everything how i want in the blinky app and everything works just fine .

You mean blinking or BLN?
I meant Blinky (the app) ate a ton of battery as compared to BLN (the app).
After an hour of being unplugged, and only blinking for minimal time, battery stats was saying blinky used something like 15% of the power during that time. That never happens with BLN (the app)
Oh, and btw, blinking the LEDs will use more energy than having a solid light. Or at least thats what the author of BLN (the app) says.
I am having similar issues with Blinky. The first time it is installed it works for a little while and then they just stay solid after a few notifications.
I was able to repeat this too because I uninstalled it and then reinstalled and it worked for a little while again. Clearing the data didn't work, I had to literally remove the app and then install it again. So I am not sure what is going on.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
bought the app too lol. it was working great. i wonder what happened in between... just weird how it stops working and can't get it to work anymore. waste of 2 dollars lol. well i posted on his thread hopefully he can fix it .
I think there's problem with our kernel, not the bln apps.
Blinky blinks for me!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
ok I uninstall blinky and got a text last night and my lights stayed on all night? Is their a setting with in the phone settings for bln or just via bln apps? edit never mind I just rebooted the phone and it fix it.
Since it seems that there is some discrepancy, where some BLN users are able to blink and others are not, I wonder if it is a kernel or rom issue.
using only Blinky (no BLN app) on the following setup, I am unable to get "blinking" to work. They do light up, but stay on consistently.
Also, the tick-box for "Turn the lights off after this time" under "Time to blink" does not work either. The lights will remain on until the notification is dismissed.

Since installing dl30 I noticed that if you go into notification setting gs it has a spot where you can turn on blink led for notification but it doesn't seem to work. Anyone know anything about this and also I noticed that at first when I sent and recievex a te,t message i would get a little toast popup at the bottom but it recently stopped showing up. Anyone know anything about this either I want itback.
There isn't any led lights for the fascinate. There are apps though that will put dufferent colored dots on your screen when you have a notification. It looks like the screen us off but a little colored dot will float around. I dont know the ansrew to your second question.

Unfortunately the area you believed contained an LED unfortunately houses a sensor for light instead It was the exact same issue on the Samsung Moment. They heard enough complaining about it then, surprised they didn't get the hint. And IMHO, the blinking LED would save battery life, as I'm sure having to turn on the screen and check every ten min. drains it.
My wife got the nexus S from sprint the other day and her first complaint is that there is no LED for notifications ...
is there any hack or application that would maybe make the capacitive buttons on the bottom flash for notifications?
There's an app called Backlight Notification that has been tested on I9020T, I9020A and I9023. I don't know if it works on the Sprint variant of the Nexus S 4G. It does require root and a custom kernel.

BLN is supposed to be the alternative for LED however, I can't get it to work with the Sprint Nexus S. @iTouch you need to be on a kernal that supports BLN

BLN is Backlight Notification. Search it in the market. I rooted and flashed Netarchy kernel. It supports BLN as well as Voodoo which made the colors on the Super AMOLED screen 10000 times better.

are there threads up for rooting the new Model: SPH-D720 (Nexus S 4G)
Compatibility: Sprint? i see many threads on the different versions, GSM

Noled doesn't need root or custom setup. Play around with the settings, you will find that it will give you more information than just a led would. It's especially cool to enable battery percent while charging. You never have to wake up the phone to know the progress. There are quite a few things it does that would be a waste for me to type it all out. After you get all the settings the way you like it, set it for start at boot then reboot the phone and you're good to go!

Are you using netarchy cfs?
Update: I read in the kernal thread that the test notification for BLN doesn't work -that is why I thought it wasn't working. I'll test it out now.
Update 2: I bought the Pro version and I can't get BLN to work with the BFS or CFS kernal. I am texting myself and it doesn't work. Any ideas??

Voodoo controls sound and screen settings (gamma, rgb multipliers).
I ran BLN on both CFS and BFS. I'm on CFS now because I think it's more stable (Overclocked to 1.2ghz with smartass set). Test notification DOES NOT WORK. You have to enable BLN blinking or whatever it says and then I unchecked when it starts and stops and set the blink rate to what I wanted to.
Had my phone for 2 days now and I'm already feeling like I can do this in my sleep! Let me know if you need help.

It is definitely not working for me. I tried both the CFS and BFS kernal. I adjusted the blink rate and activated the service. I shut off the start/stop time.
Is it supposed to activate once a sms/gmail comes in?

I had it set to the default 1 sec on and off. I changed it to your settings and it still doesn't work. There must be something else going on.
Is there anywhere I have to select the apps that it is monitoring?
Nope, the only thing I had to enable was to blink for missed calls.
Hi XDA
I'm running Cyanogenmod Nightly, at the latest Kang but, since the official nightly of some months ago, the led started to behave differently:
Before it flashed in green for notifications, and in red when the battery was out;
now, even for notifications, it flashes always in red...it gets green only when plugged and the battery is charged, and with notifications when charged and plugged.
I tried various utilities for led configurations, but none of them fixed it..
Am I the only wanting the old led behaviour?

Try Light Flow its in the market, After setting it up and configuring your led's, reboot to see it take effect.
I'm on the latest kang as well n have been using Light Flow ever since nightlies have been pushed out.
Some of the latest official nightlies seemed to mess up the LED stuff. I use Light Flow, which works perfectly for me.

Thank you for the advices!!
Is this Light flow a program that runs in background or something?
Do i need the paid version?

Yes, it's a program that runs in the background. It also works with your Accesibilty options free vrsion works just fine.
Also, as a suggestion, tsubus, an xda user who is compiling nightlies (ILWT) has created a zip file that can be flashed via recovery that will revert led notifications back to their old behavior. The file can be found in ROM Manager or the ILWT OP here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242480 It should work with any CM7 based ROM.

This patch works like a charm!!! that's just what i wanted...i tendo to avoid programs running in BG
Big thanks to you!!!
Will i have to flash this every time i update my rom?
That patch will have to be applied everytime you wipe data. If you update your rom and just clear the caches, you will not have to reflash the patch.
Hello
I am experiencing the same issue. I tried the patch from the ILWT page but it doesn't seem to be working. I have the CM7.2.0 stable release on HTC Desire Z.

The LED works only with screen off. Have you set Light Manager to start at boot in advanced settings?
In test settings, activate the LED then turn off the screen... I've just tested and it works...

Stock led is working.. Its just darn slow.. I mean it blinks for every 5-6 seconds, for example when i receive sms.. And i need and want faster blink rate and different colours...
Ill try to root and then use Light Manager...
p.s. If i root, i will still be able to get ota updates right ?

p.s. Stupid mother****[email protected]#!#[email protected] . It is working.. I just recieved sms and it is working.. But it is not working in test mode... I dont know why.. But i dont care Thanks anyway
Hey all. New Vzw G2 here. I have clean rom on this right now and just loaded up aicp as well and neither rom has working led notifications. The led works it charges red, blinks green on boot up, and flashes white on waking up the screen with double tap.
I have tried multiple notification programs from the play store and tried to test out the led but nothing is working...
Am I just missing something obvious here??
Any help would be appreciated.

I know that this sounds like a no-brainer, but we sometimes forget to check the simple things. Check your settings under display and make sure you have the notification switch "on" and then download and try light manager from the play store.
The only thing I could figure out to get LED notifications to work was to use a 4.3 based rom which has the proper API's for notification apps. IMO I traded the IR functionality for one which lets me setup my phone to actually have notifications. No idea what the AICP rom is since I have a D801 and the VSW G2 is all different for whatever silly reason but Light Flow works great on PA.
Thanks all still no such luck. So weird. Enabled and disabled the notification in display tried light manager and light flow still no go. For real I don't get it. I know the light works but only for system notifications like charging battery low knock on etc. SO weird. Grr

Could my issues be anything to do with still being on the most recent stock firmware baseband? I have a rule now to never accept OTA updates after my S4 screwed me over. I thought I read there was an OTA for Verizon at some point....

Have you tried backing up your data and trying the stock rom? I've also noticed that some things don't function properly on some custom roms, especially if it's not stock. I know you said you've tried other roms, but at this point, it just has to be checked through trial and error.
Make sure Pulse Notification Light is enabled, Use custom values is disabled and Battery Light is disabled. I have Root Mode and Reset color before change enabled on Light Flow and anything else significant disabled.
For the stock rom, Google backup was screwing up with the led notification. I had that problem.
I disabled Google backup and wiped the phone.
During initial boot when it says to back up with Google I deselected it and the led notification worked.
Not sure for custom rom.
Good luck

Hmm! Well, I am going to try this. I have plenty of TWRP backups, I'll run a fresh install and see if not using google restore fixes the issue. If it doesn't, I'm STUMPED!
I sure hope it works, this is the ONLY issue I have, I LOVE this phone otherwise, but this is a pretty big issue, I never know when I have messages waiting!

Seriously! I was about to try to return my phone, that would have been a hassle and a half. I LOVE my G2, Best phone I've had, I wish there were more cases for it for the Verizon version, I'm a minimalist guy and there is like one case on ebay that fits that bill. Oh I digress!
I switched from GS3 to G2 and let Google restore my settings and apps. My Light Flow (and Light Manager and every other LED app under the sun) just would not work. I just couldn't figure it out... it worked just fine on the GS3.
Finally, after disabling the auto restore of settings and apps, I did a factory restore; and now Light Flow works. Well, my email insists on green rather than the colour I set for it, and I can't seem to get the calendar notification LED working but everything else LED related now seems to work (mostly all 3rd party IM apps) including charging, charged, sms, etc.
