HI everyone....
I'm really upset that Android doesn't officially support Armenian... and i want to make android support Armenian...
so first step is to be able to read Armenian in android... so easily i replaced the DroidSansFallback.ttf with a compatible font and im now able to read armenian in websites...
next step is to be able to type armenian.... does anyone have an idea what to do? and replace what files?
thanks in advance...
Hey...... I found an app that supports Armenian typing... see ... ::: Բարև..... աբգդե! Smart keyboard pro... now only thing that remains is to have Armenian interface.. any suggestion???

Still waiting.... I'm making a soft keyboard ..... so the the only thing remains is armenian localization... any suggesstions???

you can try to contribute armenian to the AOSP
maybe google approves it

Yeah, I think thats the best thing to do, contributing back to branch so it could be used for future versions of Android, so other users which uses Armenian will get localization right out of the box.
Are you able to share the ttf (font files) you created as well?

Hi,
I saw a demo of the keyboard app on the Sony Ericsson X10 phone and it seems to be pretty nice!
Anyone know if it's possible to extract the app so it can be used in other android devices?
Edit: Added screens
not many of us even have the device yet... so i'm not entirely sure how hard anything will be without root.
secondly i'm not sure this has much to do with android development.. might be better off in the themes and aps section .. being that you are asking about an app?

Anyone can extract the input.apk for install with x10?
I am buying a x10 in a non-chinese market and i am afraid that it doesn't come with chinese input..
I bought my phone in Belgium and it has a Japanese keyboard.
the keyboard of the x10 is not good. I'm now using the HTCkeyboard which I have download here on th Xda forum.

I agree, the first thing I did was install the HTC keyboard, I miss the left and right arrows however.

with the latest version you can use the volume buttons as arrow kays
anyone can do that for us to try the keyboard on other android devices?
thanks in advance,
Kiay
The evo4g uses a slightly modified keyboard optimized for the giant screen that it has. Since the hd2 has a similarly giant screen and lacks the trackpad/ball the addition of those arrow keys from the evo keyboard would be quite welcome.
Anybody know where to find the evo's keyboard? also is it sense specific or can it be added to a generic froyo build?

Ive tried pushing it, and just installing it. I tried the odex and deodex version and it just force closes. Ended it just buying smart keyboard pro.
I found one and didn't have any luck installing it either. I do find the swiftkey beta in the market is very close in functionality to the htc keyboards. That's the one I use when I'm not using swype.
it worked on darkstone old eclair sense...
smart keyboard pro has arrow keys
Im pretty sure you need the lib *.so file that goes with the keyboard, I installed the Droid 2 keyboard and it would force close until I inserted the .so file into the system/lib/ directory.
Go to the Evo forum and see if you can get an apk packaged to install rather than messing with your system files. It is Sense specific by default: Froyo uses a different default keyboard. I was able to get Swype which shipped with the Evo to install on my darkstone Android build.
Did you managed to find the keyboard files? Please share if so! Thank you!

I spent a while hunting for this last night. Found a bunch of Evo keyboard apks, most of which refused to install & many of which needed to be flashed as an update zip - which I don't believe we can do currently. I tried overwriting the htc_ime.apk & .obex in system/apps & managed to get a garbled version with arrows working - attempts to fix it borked my HTC keyboard entirely.
Found a worthwhile solution though - the Jonas HTC keyboard mod lets you use the volume buttons as arrow keys.

Does anyone know if the Droid 2 keyboard or the Droid x Keyboard has been ported and possible to be used on our Hd2?
The multitouch Droid 2 keyboard works, see the really obvious topic on the subject in this same forum.

Checkout smart keyboard pro in the market. It has multitouvh plus tons of other options.
Hey all. I'm new to the HD2 but not to android. I'm sure you've all seen the MIUI rom for desire and nexus. (if you haven't go here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or-9T44Bt7M&feature=player_embedded
To clarify :"It appears that the ROM has been mostly custom built using only the base from Android 2.2 and then building an exceptional interface on top that could beat anything else that currently exists.
From full FM radio support to completely customizable home screens, dedicated buttons on the lock screen that take you to the SMS app and the phone dialer."
Since its fore the desire/nexus, It should be an easy port to the HD2, I just need halp
I'm sure most of us would love to see this implemented on the HD2. I thought I could do it myself, but I've tried and failed. Below are two links. One for the full rom and the other is a link to the system.ext2 image I made from the /system folder of the ROM. I've tried a couple of different kernel combinations and still can't get it to boot (replaced the system.ext2 in shubcraft with the one I made and it just reboots). I don't yet know enough about android on the hd2 to get this working myself. So I figured I'd start a thread and see where we can get.

Seems like the hd2 has quite the community following. I'm looking forward to working with you guys
UPDATE: 9-24-2010 : We do have a working test build that is being given out to a few folks. No ETA on a alpha or beta release. Hopefully this weekend. I'm tonight and tomorrow so I'll squeeze in some android time when I can. SARCASTILLO (guy who made hyperdroid) gets the credit for getting this thing booting. Hey there biff, did you finally trade in the slide for an HD2? If so, im glad to see you over here now.
P.S. The music in the video makes me want to run up a big flight of stairs and air punch at the top.
i love the idea of "endles" possibilities when it comes to UI for a single phone and i hope you are succesful in porting this for HD2, but i HAVE to say

Nice to hear that ! We always lack people like you, however the few Hd2 build developers have magic hands.
Maybe you already know that, but I suggest you to contact them directly for this great project because Hd2 is a very popular phone, so this forum is 99.9% populated by end-users. At the begining kernel developers tried to work into xda forums, but deserted for the Htc-linux Irc because of noise.
This would be so awesome!!!! DEVS, plz plz plz look at this !!
personally i'd love to see this ported! would be something... different!
I'm looking forward to it too. Looks interesting.
I rather run the actual os then the ui
I would definitly try the real OS if it would be possible cool to have all those OS es hehe

It looks nothing like the iOs nor IphoneOS nor firmware 4.0. Some people are here just to make a crowd. Anyway, to the OP, this is great. try to contact DarkSt0ne, Mattc, Dan1j3l. they could help. or, on twitter, contact the htc_linux guys. Hope you can make it and if you base it on the new Desire HD Rom, and include some other languages like japanese, your rom will be one of the greatest. Thank you and good luck

will post something as soon as I get the signal working. and camera... and etc....

not sure it'll be anytime soon.. just tried making it boot to play with....
looks like its an odexed system (will try to deodex) and using a heavily tweaked launcher ui... pretty sweet... includes google pinyin support OOTB (of course)
Has anyone noticed that swype is not as accurate as it use to be ? The new version sucks . Anyone else have same issues ?

I agree. I wish I could go back to the old one. It was way more predictable.
Ya I know we can't use old one right?

My irritation started when the vibrate on keypress function stopped working.
Then, I realised the stupid Tips window kept opening up every alternate word
And finally, to top it off, its not accurate any more
Edit: Well I sent them an email about it, let's see what they have to say
Yup the beta one was far better. I loved the concept of swyping instead of tapping but the new swype is so bad I'm now using SwiftKey
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yep. The new SWYPE is definitely a lot worse than the previous betas.
For the record, I agree. It also seems to be less compatible with most fingers than the previous version...

Go to 4shared dot com and write swype and there is a file called swype x10 look for it and install it . Works like charm

thank you for the tip, works very good, but I only get English as a language, any idea how to install new languages?
Not sure. Go to swype website and register to get new beta then it will have m many languages

This doesn't work for me - installs fine but doesn't appear in input methods list. Install at your own risk as it has access to lots of personal data on the phone.
EDIT: Forgot I needed to enable it in settings. Hooray Swype is back. Shapewriter is just that much more painful in comparison
yup I've also been having problems with swype.... no haptic feedback and predictions are off to
Wrote to them. There reply:
Hi Soumya,
Thanks for writing with your feedback.
Our prediction algorithm has recently undergone some changes, not all of which have worked out write as we had planned. We're actually in the process right now of prepping a new beta release which will hopefully fix these issues, and then we'll begin the process of distributing to our preloaded customers where appropriate. I can't give any kind of ETA for these updates, as it's still a work in progress, but know that it is definitely being worked on.

I'd love to hear a rational explanation from Eric Schmidt as to why I can copy and paste from an email received using for example HTC Mail or K9 but can't copy and paste from the same email received using Gmail all on a device running Google Android ...?
Or has one of the excellent devs at xda come up with a solution or - an embarrassing thought - perhaps I have missed a setting somewhere.
It's easier to believe that I'm dumb than Google can't do what others can.

But it's just not as snappy is it.
