I'd love to hear a rational explanation from Eric Schmidt as to why I can copy and paste from an email received using for example HTC Mail or K9 but can't copy and paste from the same email received using Gmail all on a device running Google Android ...?
Or has one of the excellent devs at xda come up with a solution or - an embarrassing thought - perhaps I have missed a setting somewhere.
It's easier to believe that I'm dumb than Google can't do what others can.

Dear G1ForFun
Damn - such an excellent reply!
Now I can only ask Eric baby why (1) this feature only arrived with 2.2 for those of us with unrooted devices (2) it's hidden on a sub menu and (3) its yet another way of selecting text on Android ...
But it's just not as snappy is it.

Further to my post above it seems that the sub-menu copy paste crumb that Mr Schmidt has thrown to the adoring Google masses is limited to the text one can actually see in the window ...
... but I would be very pleased to be corrected.

Hi.
Is there any way to enable wireless n mode in android for wifi? It seems that wifi is really slow and my data connection is much faster.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
what is wireless n mode
i dont think this phone has n class hardware, atleast its tech specs doesnt say n on htc.com...
Sorry for these idiots above. Anyway, my wi-fi is working fine although it isn't going at n speeds. Yes, there is wireless n hardware, but it's just not being used in this build yet. (as far as I know)
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
it does have wireless N, its just disabled by default, i believe android does use the wireless N but its rather buggy which is why its slow, reception is rather poor and download is slow unless your standing over your router

"what is wireless n mode" is not a good answer to someone's question. Look it up.
wait, are we on celebrity jeopardy??
I bet I have the last word
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
just to keep the thread informative. wireless N is the evolvement of wireless G. More range and bandwith within wireless networks that support the standard. The HD2 has N capabillities, but the wifi implementation in the VERY beta stages of Android in general, so whtever you're asking for. it's not that important yet
HTC HD2 keyboard
i have tested both the clean and sense version. my preference is the sense. both versions work great. i have been following Darkstone for a while now and his work is amazing!!!
the only, just one thing i wished was kept from the first build is the keyboard. i love the fact that there was a mic feature, it made texting so much easier, the voice recognition is great and really accurate. now the slot is filled with language transcript. you can already do that in settings.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the old keyboard!!!

The old keyboard is the default android keyboard, hold down your finger on a textbox and you'll get a popup prompting you to select input method, select the other keyboard from there
Do we have an update on wireless n for Android?
Is it possible down the road?
(Also would be nice to have 720p video recording )
wow guys... i just read this and forgot what the first post was about...
ok great thread.. so great i just closed it... lol
I know this has probably been asked before...but I'm a noob and couldn't find anything in the search.
I've rooted my Froyo X using doroot just for the wifi tethering. I want to know what other uses there are for a rooted phone.
Can I change the notifications so they're unique to the event? I get the same sound for a text and when I plug in the cable.

First check out the Droid X Wiki for some nice guides and info on what you can do with your newly unlocked device.
And to answer your last question... you can do that without being rooted. Just go into any app that sends you notifications.. and in the settings of THAT app... you can change which notification sound it plays when that particular app notifies you.

Oh cool. Thanks for the info and the n00b guide. I just got the X a couple of days ago and came from an omnia winmo6.1 so this is all new to me. I fkn love this phone/interface so much more intuitive.
Does anyone know if there are more TV apps like TV.com?

Sorry...I mean it worked in the sense that you can make calls, but texting was a chore and navigating through contacts, making appointments was next to impossible without the stylus...which I promply lost after getting my 910.

Ok, I have to give you that. The default WM 6.1 was a HUGE pain
It was much better after upgrading to WM 6.5.3
I used Thumbcal to replace the calendar, and Swype made typing easier

Has anyone noticed that swype is not as accurate as it use to be ? The new version sucks . Anyone else have same issues ?
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
I agree. I wish I could go back to the old one. It was way more predictable.
Ya I know we can't use old one right?
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
My irritation started when the vibrate on keypress function stopped working.
Then, I realised the stupid Tips window kept opening up every alternate word
And finally, to top it off, its not accurate any more
Edit: Well I sent them an email about it, let's see what they have to say
Yup the beta one was far better. I loved the concept of swyping instead of tapping but the new swype is so bad I'm now using SwiftKey
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yep. The new SWYPE is definitely a lot worse than the previous betas.
For the record, I agree. It also seems to be less compatible with most fingers than the previous version...

Go to 4shared dot com and write swype and there is a file called swype x10 look for it and install it . Works like charm

thank you for the tip, works very good, but I only get English as a language, any idea how to install new languages?
Not sure. Go to swype website and register to get new beta then it will have m many languages

This doesn't work for me - installs fine but doesn't appear in input methods list. Install at your own risk as it has access to lots of personal data on the phone.
EDIT: Forgot I needed to enable it in settings. Hooray Swype is back. Shapewriter is just that much more painful in comparison
yup I've also been having problems with swype.... no haptic feedback and predictions are off to
Wrote to them. There reply:
Hi Soumya,
Thanks for writing with your feedback.
Our prediction algorithm has recently undergone some changes, not all of which have worked out write as we had planned. We're actually in the process right now of prepping a new beta release which will hopefully fix these issues, and then we'll begin the process of distributing to our preloaded customers where appropriate. I can't give any kind of ETA for these updates, as it's still a work in progress, but know that it is definitely being worked on.

SE is really straight forward about answering but hesitating to tell us the truth so you have to plan your life base on nonsense comes out of SE customer service department.
Came out in the market today, but doesn't install on my 2.2 CM 6.1.3...
Says it supports 2.1 and up, and from the screenshots looks like the phone is an X10..
Looks like it could be pretty useful
Edit: Mods, I didn't realize there was an applications section. Could you please move this there? Sorry for the inconvenience
Edit2: Market link: https://market.android.com/details?i...icsson.zwooshi

I took a look in the market and Google search but couldn't find anything called life contacts lol

I found it on the market website. Said it wasn't available for my carrier.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sonyericsson.zwooshi
I think we'll need to wait till someone shares the apk.
It's neat, pretty bare, no options though. I like its simplicity.
However, it didn't pull all my contact photos (facebook ones, but I'm using timeline for facebook contact photos)
It looks really nice though, I'm definitely keeping it.
Here
It's an SE developed App by the looks of it, but having upgraded to CM6.1.3 [V5], Android Market doesn't recognise my X10 - it just has the make and model fields blank. I guess SE may have restricted the App to SE phones only?
Just a hunch...

I am reading on svetandroida.cz that when you write sms with HW keyboard then it is doing spellchecking which is not possible to switch off and it is in english. Meaning that when we write in our native language we get a "red sea". The autocorrect from I to I'm was a minor annoyance but this...
Also some people are reporting that sometimes the sms is not sent.
I really hoped that since we waited a bit longer then the HD and other HTC phones we get a better version..
I feel like it is time to downgrade instead of upgrade and root this thing..
I confirm the spellcheck stuff.
