Facebook, no 'Like' in News/Update pages, and cant see comments!!

Where is the 'Like' button and why on earth can you only see the original status posted by a friend and not any comments made about that status???
I Commented on a friends status only to find out (logged on from my PC) that 4 other people had already commented and so my comment made no sense! lol

Yeah I must say coming from the iPhone the facebook app on win mob is terrible! Ok I know its pretty sad saying that but tbh before having my iPhone I didn't use facebook much but because the facebook app on the iPhone was such a pleasure to use I really got in to it... I'm having to use facebook on opera now.

Dump the FB app, it's utterly useless.
Use http://touch.facebook.com instead. Better, faster, and works awesome in Opera.

Thats what I have been using shame there isnt a facebook app that works though..

I'm not hugely into FB but it would of been nice to at least be able to use it as it's a preinstalled app!!

Considering the guy who developed the iphone version of facebook app fell out with apple due to its ridiculous app store approval process, they should get him to make a WM version!

Been using the touch.facebook.com for a few days now and you guys are right so much better then the app for WM... but just wondering if anyone else is having an issue with it being slow to update news feeds? Seems to be way behind at times!

ive had that problemw ith the touch site, but the main diffeerence for me between the iPhone app, is the lack of facebook chat, thats a nice feature!

Thanks for the heads-up regarding touch.facebook - didn't know about that! The winmo facebook ap is not very fully featured at all, which is a shame, because it wouldn't be a difficult application to write. That said, browsing being as good as it is on the HD2, i usually just visit the full facebook site. With pinch zooming i find it a breeze to navigate. Touch is probably a more sensible option though i guess. Just replaced my facebook ap quicklink with the facebook touch bookmark

Yeah, at the bottom is a link to "Mobile Site" which is m.facebook.com I think - that has the news feed issue fixed, but isn't as finger-friendly (it's not bad tho).
Neither of them allow you to view or tag photos very well IMO, a decent FB WinMo app would be very welcome.

In the Twitter tab, I can't see a way of bringing up a list of who I'm following in Twitter.

I was using Panoramic moTweets on my HD, and that was great. I tried a few others, and they're all pretty much the same, but I'd recommend that.
There's a free version with an add at the top of your tweets list, or a paid version that was only a few dollars.

I think it's now available on marketplace as well, but I'd never recommend that piece of poo until you can install on your storage card as standard!

apart from the official facebook app are there any alternatives to it because its a bit of a hit and miss for me.

Yeah, the 'official' ones always seem to be a bit picky - apart from the Apple one it seems... I've had comments fail to post using the WM Marketplace version of the MS FB app every time when I use the physical QWERTY keyboard, but hardly ever when usin gthe on-screen one, for example. It never failed to post a status update though, on either kb
if you don't like the Touch site, there's always the half-way version at m.facebook.com.

i'm using babbler atm its amazing and notifies you on anything you want instead of just the handfew offered by the official app. gotta say the one for blackberry was actually on par with iphone i gotta say.

Yeah, I used Babbler for quite a while on my G1 - not got around to installing it on the Desire yet. Best thing was that it notified you whenever someone "liked" your status or photo, which no other app does AFAIK

What about bloo? Ive installed that atm cus Babbler seemed slow..
I only had lite though, dunno if pro is faster?

Best "usefull" Facebook App

This might have been a thread in the past, but i'm not sure... feel free to direct me to the thread lol.
So anyway, i just wanna know what all of you have as a facebook app.. what facebook app has the most to offer that you choose over the others?
I personally use the facebook for android and bloo 1.5
The reasons: facebook for android- I just like the widget because I can publish my status right on my home screen and see the news feed real fast..
bloo 1.5- I use this because of the real good notification updates and of course, the facebook chat..
I know "to my knowledge" that there really isn't alot of "complete" facebook apps out there, i just wanna know what all of your insights are about using facebook.. thanks guys

lets not start a flame war. If you don't like facebook, don't use it. If you do like facebook, use it. Some people like iPhones over Android. To each their own.

I was wondering this too. The stock facebook app sucks at getting notifications. I was thinking about trying bloo. I don't necessarily need chat (ebuddy for that), just notifications.

HUH? My wife says the Android Facebook app is MUCH better and a lot faster than Facebook on her previous phone, ipony 3G.

Facebook app on android is trash.
The good news is that apparently zuckenberg has recently begun using and android phone. Maybe he'll be offended enough to get a proper app built.

It's not that I don't enjoy interacting with friends, but I do that with text messages, phone calls, and real life. I mostly don't like Facebook because of:
1. Bloated, ugly interface
2. Constantly changing (not for the better)
3. Completely bullsh** privacy settings

Yes, it is complete trash. Not all posts show sometimes, your own posts don't show sometimes, posts you've commented on would disappear sometimes, the links to videos and sites don't open most of the time, you can't do a lot of the things you could do on the site, and... I don't feel like going on because I don't use Facebook at all anymore, anyway.
I say that having never owned an iAnything, too. Well, I had an iPod Nano once, but I can't stand iTunes, so I sold it.
Hopefully Zuckerberg will improve the Android app for those that use it.

as the previous posts above mine state, android fb app is trash. the iphone fb app allows you to tag photos, ability to view profile photo properly, swipe through fb photo albums (as opposed to the ****ty arrow buttons for android), event viewing, favorites tab, cant think of the other stuff off the top of my head.
they chose to develop the fb app for iphone more thoroughly than the one for android

i use a combo of android FB for widget, Bloo 1.5 for notifications and Go facebook chat pro.

The best Facebook widget I have used so far is Friendstream which is contained in the Desire Rom port. I have yet to find anything as complete in the market for stock Android. I had high hopes for the app Pure Messenger but it still has a ways to go as it currently does not indicate important info within the title of each post. For instance, a post like "thank you, blah blah blah" will lack the beginning tag Susan>Lisa giving no indication who the post is talking about. The other cool thing about Friendstream is that if you open a post with images, they open directly without going to the web site.
It's really hard to believe that there is nothing decent in the entire market for stock android.

I just use a short cut to the touch site, and fachat for chatting. Haven't cared much for the apps, but don't use facebook as much as others either.

Just downloaded the new update for the facebook android app and its a little better. I still hate that when you click on notifications it sends you to the browser

Yeah that it does, but at least now it tells you if you have any notifications. That's one thing fixed
I think in order for it to be usable though, it needs to stop sending users to the browser. If I wanted to use the browser, I would (and actually do have it bookmarked for when the app gets too annoying).
I would like to have integrated chat and a better picture uploading interface now. Baby steps haha.

The version is the final beta but it's an old build *Tweetdeck says* but you can get it at droiddog dot com. Just look for the post.
I think it's very fast! Even on Edge it's speedy! However if they don't somehow integrate the columns like iphone and the desktop, it will be disappointing. You know how you can view each column like tweets, mentions dms, facebook and scroll thriugh them and click one to enlarge? i loved that look but it doesn't have it on this release. I am exited about it though and also, you can actually view people's wall, comment and like their status within the app

wow, it's been less than a week and already 2 quick updates out. Beta 3 is out. if you follow tweetdeck on twitter, they provide a link that you press and it downloads right to your phone after you press save, then press the downloaded software and it installs over the current one you have

works pretty damn good! wish it had myspace integrated and widget then i'd no longer use the native samsung feeds & updates

yeah i feel ya. I am so ready for the distant column view.. just like iPhone or the desktop where the notifications come on the inside when in the app or appear outside as normal when you're not using it. u get me?

Hmm.. It doesn't look anywhere close to their iphone version, but again .. it's beta. I'd wait until they release the final version.

I'm liking this app!..seems much easier to use than the Facebook app and seems quicker too, good so far.
