After becoming disillusioned with her blackberry and dreading the ATT/T-Mobile merger my wife decided to hit up a Sprint rep via live chat earlier tonight. She said she wanted something that was touchscreen and Android. The employee on the other end then proceeded to try to sell her on the Motorola I1

No mention of the epic or evo?
Sent From My Evo Killer!
Nope, not one mention. She also tried to push the LG Optimus S on her. My wife got upset and redirected her attention to TMZ.com lol
"free with a two year contract"
or maybe she just didn't think your wife would want an expensive phone and tried to just get her to switch with a decent model? seriously, the LG Optimus S isn't awful.
My wife mentioned being interested in a Nexus S or 3D Evo. I would think they'd be trained to push their flagships if the customer showed interest.
Or it could be that the rep really isn't very good at their job. I have seen many people in sales that don't do what they should do to sell what the company wants.
so your mad they didnt try to sell you a phone you didnt ask about???

Let me get this straight.... your wife mentioned two phones that Sprint doesn't sell (yet) and you decided that Sprint is the one that gave up on the Epic?
If I was a rep I'd have read her mind to believe that she was somewhat knowledgeable (given that she mentioned phones that only us true phone nuts are aware of) and that given her desire for phones that haven't yet come out... that she was wanting phones that were very recently released... and/or FREE!
If there isn't anything else that you have learned here on XDA, please learn this: Sprint Reps (any reps for ANY product) aren't aware of everything on the planet going on with their own company.
Also. Given that the rep recommended the i1, the Rep clearly was showing a personal bias toward direct connect....
My experience with sales people with Sprint or anyone else is that individuals will show a bias toward that which they own themselves (to justify their own personal decision making process) and or those which have a path of least resistance to sell (FREE!).
When your wife balked at the i1 recommendation (the i9 is $150), the rep probably went from personal bias to FREE in an attempt to get the sale. The rep didn't know that your wife was only calling them to play games with them and give you something to post a stunningly pointless conclusion about.
The bottom line is that I hope you are better at using logic to reach a conclusion at your job than you are in deciding topics to post about.
"Something touch screen and Android" isn't exactly specific. People who approach a salesman with that vague notion tend to balk at high prices since they don't know the difference between devices and likely never will.
It's like going to a car dealer and saying "I need something four wheel drive and with four doors." The salesman isn't likely to mistake you for an avid off roader and show you a Humvee unless that's all they sell. They're probably going to point you to a Hyundai Santa Fe or Jeep Cherokee.
Means nothing. Sprint could have been having a sales promotion on the I1 in order to move stock.
Or perhaps the sales rep had read the study that said the women generally don't like high end smartphones and are more likely to buy feature-phones.
Inferring the business decisions of Sprint based on what one sales rep said is like inferring the average mental state of the USA based on what Charlie Sheen does.
This is why I go to Best Buy Mobile. Maybe it's just the one near us, but the people there know their stuff and use these forums.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
She expressed interest in phones that are not currently carried...so the sales rep decided to try and push the I1, probably the worst selling android handset made....that just tells me the rep is a moron - and honestly probably doesn't have a clue what the NS or Evo 3D are or when they are getting them.
lol @ another user for thinking sprint sales reps have something valid to say.

I would think that a rep would be trained in upselling though. And as far as my wife asking about phones that aren't released yet.. woman are crazy, I think we should all know that by now. I guess I should know by now that Sprint reps aren't the brightest crayons in the box either. But really, she brought them up because she was interested in the $125 rebate going on right now and had a few questions about future promotions.

Well I just got off the phone with the verizon tech and he says, google just finished and released the 2.2 update for incredible last week, the problem is that it has to be tested, so this means we will not see it until late August or early September.
After talking to the tech I came across this.......
HTC DROID Incredible to be updated to Froyo end of July, early August
by Andrew Munchbach on July 19th, 2010 at 12:50pm
Filed under: AT&T, Android, BlackBerry, Exclusives, GSM, HTC, Mobile, Software, Verizon 111 Comments
We just received a juicy tip about the HTC DROID Incredible software update schedule that we’d like to share. One of our strategically placed Ninjas was kind enough to pass along an email from HTC that read as follows:
I wanted to pass along that the upcoming Incredible MR will also include Froyo (originally it was going to be two separate MRs).
We are targeting the end of the month/first part of August. As a reminder, below are the highlights:
■Froyo
■802.11 n
■3G Mobile Hot Spot
■HTC Widget: Email
■HTC Widget: News
■EAS Updates
■720p Video Recording
■Amazon MP3
■Skype
■My Verizon
Obviously, the news here is that the Incredible update that began rolling out this weekend will — in all likelihood — be halted, and a sexier, Froyo-inclusive update will be pushed out in the coming weeks. The update will also include 802.11n Wi-Fi support, 3G Mobile Hot Spot, 720p video recording, and more. Not bad news for Incredible owners. What do you think? Is Android 2.2 worth an extra few weeks of waiting?
VZW techs are morons. HTC releases it, not Google.
For that reason, don't believe what you heard.

Tech Blogs feed each other. One rumor starts at one end, and makes it all the way to the other. They are just regurgitating what BGR said. BGR has also admitted that the VZW twitter message did not come from VZW sanctioned employees. Its just a matter of time till we see this popup on Engadget and Gizmodo, if it hasn't already.

Hey were not all morons just most our because they aren't into the rooting or advanced stages of Android there just stupid, but yeah I do work for Verizon in the store and we have heard nothing about a 2.2 update, but most likely, just like everything else you and me will probably find out it before Verizon employees do because we pay attention to leaks and such and they don't, and Verizon doesn't tell employees anything until like a week or less before it releases.

Lol. My friend and his female acquaintance were getting Moto Droids thanks to the BOGO free offer. While one guy went in the back to do "paperwork", I ran behind the counter, started fumbling with the computer and was asking with people if they needed help with setting up anything. Gave my friend my incredible to take a picture of me while I was back there, and then I showed it to the employee. He kept looking around the area the picture had in the background and concluded that my "office looks just like his".
Can't post the picture because I'm a "new user", but I'm wearing my stylish 3d glasses I got from Toy Story 3 / 3d.
Also told him that Buzz died, and he said that he can't take his wife now because she'll cry too much.

I just got off the phone with a verizon wireless store rep, asking about the new car mount. After chatting about my new phone, he started telling me he got an email TODAY stating exactly what this says, this email came DIRECTLY from VERIZON. He stated his email clearly said the release for FROYO with all the mentioned features in this post was coming end of july / early august. AGAIN, THIS COMES DIRECTLY FROM VERIZON! Hope this helps the debate a little bit. I wasn't fishing for this information, the guy just happened to mention it.

I don't really wanna point and laugh. There is no way they are going to ignore the android users that to the same thing. Eventually, this type of thing may come Sprints way.
I hope not, I can't remember the last time I tethered.. but would still hate to have it taken away from me. I surely will not pay 30$ a month for it.
I think it might be important to point out that this is not just an iphone thing, but any customer with a tether capable phone.

People will always complain and complain and complain, that's how society works. I had a guy that called in to cancel his account a few days ago because his phone wasn't working. After ranting and screaming he said "you know what, all the **** that happened in Japan and i'm pissed off over a phnte? I'll just go buy a phone, im not cancelling, im sorry man" and hung up the line.
There's so much **** going on in the world and yet people complain over their 3G speeds being "slow" or Sprint not releasing a good phone at MWC, or the Echo (even though nobody's used it).
/rant
It doesn't matter. Most iPhone users are just mindless zombies that believe it is the best product simply because it has an apple on it. AT&T or Verizon can do whatever they want and they will still sell millions of iPhones.

Well, I've been reading Google news and i saw this. http://www.pcworld.com/article/237339/google_shows_how_not_to_complain_about_the_patent_mess.html
HTML:
looking at the comments, makes me lol. Seems like some Apple fans
True, but Apple doesn't pay for its OS, it actually makes it, unlike Google, they bought it, shoved a bunch of stolen tech from other companies, repackaged it as "Google invention" and gave it away. Remeber, MS is making the bulk of manufacturers pay them between $5 and $10 per handest, then you add in Apple's cut, RIM's cut, Oracle's cut and whomever else's cut from each phone sold and you see their profits decline even further. Also MS makes more money off Android than Google does in Ads, kind of sad isn't it. To me Android does not make any sense to hang onto as a manufacturer, its not a viable and sustainable OS, its fragmentation is a joke, and the security is laughable. The only reason they sell these cheap plastic knockoffs are because of two reasons, and two resons only, first its free or darn cheap and second, it's not made by Apple. In its simpliest terms, that is the only reasons why.
Android sold people on the fact that it is so called open and free, its not, at all, but most people bought into that idea. Why? because Google told them so, so people beleived it. Truth is, Android is the worst Mobile OS in history when it comes to fragmantation, malware, trojans, viruses, and a slew of other problems. More so than ANY phone on the market, worse than Windows Mobile. Heck, I'd go as far as to say Android is neck and neck with the windows desktop OS when it comes to security threats and like I said, its the ONLY mobile OS to have this big of a problem. If you call having to install an anti-virus program on a mobile free and open, then you can have it.]

But delays in moving its cases through the courts is a blow to Apple's efforts to get quick and favorable rulings that it hopes would give it an edge in the marketplace for mobile devices.

Apple hopes to give an edge by delaying competitor product Can they come out with a fabulous device instead Shame on you Apple.
To be fair, from what i understand from reading, the legal system is too slow to react to a new device launch. In other words Samsung could blatantly copy a feature and still get it launched before the courts could act. It would be nice if that excuse wasnt valid but i feel it may be legit.

Well, let me ask you this.....how long have you known that Samsung was going to be bringing the SGS3 to the US? That being said, don't you think Apple is to blame for the "slow reaction" of the court system being that they didn't file a motion against the SGS3 until the day before last weeks hearing? My logic is that Apple should have gotten on the ball and made their move to stop this launch as soon as they heard about it.....but i'm glad they procrastinated

That is for judge Koh because we all know she secretly wanted to get her hands on this phone as well
Actually the judgement has been delayed. Apple is sure to file another motion to fast track it, and since there is no date of the actual trial yet, Apple could still win.
Sorry, not trying to give bad news, just the fact. It would be really awesome if the judge did rule against Apple or better still throw the case out and fine Apple for wasting the courts time.
Love it! Another loss for Apple!

Just to clarify why we're celebrating.....
In her order on Monday, the judge said Apple would have to request a new hearing date if it wanted to stop sales of the Galaxy S III phone. That likely would not take place before the phone's scheduled launch.

What happens after the launch, I don't really care, I just want to get my phone.

I got $5 that says if you jumped through all the hoops to get something patented you'd be doing the same exact thing. Stop being a hypocrite.

Yes, we would be doing the exact same thing but we would still be jerks. Jerks with money that cheat the system but jerks none the less.

Well yeah, it's a rare person who wouldn't abuse a stupid law if it made them rich enough. That makes most everyone a hypocrite (as long as you suppose extreme enough circumstances) and rather nullifies the point of calling anyone by the h-word.
Actually, if I (sorta broke) took the time to submit a patent, then defend this patent mine or not would be smart. Now in Apples case, they already have more money than they need (greed is legal), makes them look pathedic, period.

One of the winners has slipped through the cracks and is selling his one piss on ebay
Item location:
Murfreesboro, Tennessee, United States
And people are bumping the price up to other flagship levels, how absolutely predictable.
Idiocracy... it's coming.
Holy......!
Nexus5 X Tapatalk Pro
Like I said on the oneplus fourm. I would have sold it too. All the begging for it + the invite system made this all possible. Highly demanded product, virtually no stock.
It's just a phone. You can always buy another later.
I wouldn't had made the I can't use it on Verizon comment. If I know enough to enter a contest and smash my phone I'm going to know enough to know it won't work on verizon.
Who ever buys that for that price,is a FOOL.IMO:laugh:
Err...it's Plus. One Plus. Not piss.
Jesus foot that amount any logical person would sell it

I highly doubt that person will get their invites.
You're probably right. However still worth it. That's only if the winning bidder pays up that is... and that's highly doubtable
There were people with brand new ebay accounts (no feedback) trolling him by boosting up the price. I think the price was at 10k and the seller removed the auction. Probably knows he was being trolled. If you guys seriously think it would sell for such a high price then let me sell you my beach front house next to the Brooklyn, Golden Gate and Bay Bridge. I'll give you an awesome price you can't refuse.
I hate to bump this, but am I seriously the only one who sees that he typed "One Piss" twice? Is this some sort of crappy nickname being given to this device, or am I just going crazy?
EDIT: Well, at least four people seem to see it, so I guess my sanity is still safe.

he bought an s5, so he has to put down the oneplus so it somehow justifies his decision to buy it and not regret not holding out for this.

Looks like it was relisted and sold for $650, nice little profit depending on what phone he smashed / donated
