Severe battery drain... - Epic 4G General

Guys, I am experiencing a horrible battery, even on a mAh 3500 one. I've been doing a little bit of research and on sprint.com, it states I've used over 6.4 gigs of data in the last 5 DAYS. I am hardly ever using the phone, except for going on xda and texting. I also have an app called pfinance that updates my stocks every 15 minutes...thats 7 widgets. But there's no way that should hit 6 gigs....in 5 days!
Additional info: im running syndicate 1.1 atm, in the past 4 days, I was on midNIGHT rom v5 (which I downloaded via wifi, incase u suspect that added to my 6 gigs of data.)
Somethings happening to my phone and I wanna know what. Lol!
Edit: I checked running processes and found telenav navigator (the new one that replaced sprint's nav app) running and will not stop. I uninstalled so we'll see how that goes....
Edit2: I am running touchwiz.
Edit3: Attached a file showing my usage. LOL

Phone rebooted twice today

I'm wondering why this is happening, it has done it before but 2 times within 3 hours. I'm beginning to worry... Any ideas?
Oddly enough it seems to do it right when I pick it up to use it.

Oh yea, completely stock.

I had mine reboot on me today as well, it's the stock rom with root. I didn't pick it up. It happened while I was tethered using the free Wireless Tether App and the phone was asleep.
Yea, I don't even have root.. it has done it 2 more times since my first post.

Just a guess, but check the battery temperature.
Dial *#*#4636#*#*

This happened to me. If your are running SU privilages their is always a chance if a reboot.

I think ppl r getting confused, u r completely stock with no root aspects. Did u install the leak ota?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
No OTA, no root, no ROM. sorry for the delayed response, passed out last night
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Probably was just hot at those times and just rebooted. I don't think you should be too worried

one of my co-workers has been having the same issue. (completely stock as well). Mine has rebooted a handful of times, at least once that was possibly at the exact time as my co-worker's. He's called in enough that they are offering to replace the phone.
Me Too
My phone has been rebooting more and more recently. I suspect it is very poor signal causing the phone to work too hard, triggering a reboot. My will get to 109 degrees for no particular reason, and then start rebooting.
My warranty replacement (refurb) is expected today.

Eg22 battery life

Could be me but it seem like the battery drains faster with this rom Is anyone else noticing this?

I'd say it's similar to the other gingerbread leaks. Nothing as great as SRF 1.2 for battery life yet that I have come across.
Froyo had source to optimize, but you still should get good battery, you did calibrate right?
Sent from my SPH-D700
you could also be playing with it more
10 hours since flashing and at 49% now. (Started at 100%) Pretty good if you ask me.
I am getting random reboots and force closes. This sucks. Don't know what's wrong.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Srf was good for me too, but the best battery life I have seen is with marcusant's i3 rom. Haven't tried the new leak yet. Probably wait til acs does their thing with it.

Tell me how it goes. I care about battery life more than anything (that and gingerbread) for my phone.
I'm really hoping this one can bring the amazing battery life I got on EE03.

Did you restore data? I have used it all day and have not had one force close. Try to Odin again and if you restored data do it without restoring data.
RE: force closes, usually it means you restored apps or data that need to be reinstalled. If an app FCs, uninstall and reinstall it.
RE: battery life.
You can't make a judgement until you run a calibrate cycle and go through at least one charge cycle. Usually the first battery cycle on a new rom seems like really battery life, then things improve quickly. Since the rom has only been leaked for about 18 hours now I don't think anyone can give a useful opinion on battery life.

I just flashed from midnight 5.3 and everything is running a-ok here. Try wiping the unneeded files from your sd card and delete the default android files before reinserting your sd card into a newly flashed eg22 rom.

I flashed it at around 10am this morning, and with some pretty good, but not heavy use, I made it to about 6pm. When flashing this morning, I was around 92%. So yes, battery life is pretty good. Nothing will beat SRF, but now that I've tasted the gingerbread, I'm not sure I can go back to Froyo.
*Edit* Since being off the charger for 4 hours, and surfing the internet on both 3g and 4g, chatting on gtalk, multiple text messages, I'm at 76%. I'm impressed.

Has your S3 frozen several times?

My phone has frozen like 4-5 times since the first day I got it...
Nope.
nope...
Mine hasn't frozen, but sometimes have to turn wifi on and off a few times to connect to my router
Possibly found some info on the wifi androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/574442-samsung-galaxy-s3-wifi-problem.html

So far I don't have a single complaint about the S3.

no issues here. had it sence monday been running like a champ. batery lasted 14hrs so far with emails updating every 15 min and surfing the net from time to time at work all on 4g . love this phone and wish it was unlocked
Has frozen once or twice, but I think it may have been on Power Save at the time. Have you used that feature at all?
Also, Apex launcher crashes quite a bit. Not sure if it's a compatibility issue or what.

I've had multiple apps crash on me over and over. Stock phone.

Nope. And I use it quite heavily too.
Hmm..the only app that has lagged so far is XDA app, and seems few of you guys had that experience too. Wonder if this is a compatibility issue or coz all of us are in the XDA app all the time:laugh:
16days and not 1 problem.

Straight butter here, I don't even think I've had a FC yet, and I've had mine since launch. Battery lasts me ALL DAY no problem and performance all around has been flawless.
I am rooted on stock rom if anyone is wondering.
MANY apps freeze for me all the time, and it's stock, and use atk but still same issues.

Nothing. Android has an amazing memory management system. If you must close all apps, hold Home, click remove all. Then hold Home, click Task manage, go to ram, and hit clear memory. This is only necessary if an app is rogue and causing battery drain though.

Google Services battery usage

I've had this phone for just under a week. I'm rooted, but running stock. Is Google Services supposed to be using this much battery (more than the screen)? The screen had 2 hours and 44 minutes.
Thanks for any assistance!

My Android System uses #1. I guess they are glitches. Samsung Link was using #2 until I disabled it.

I never had the issue just like many of you dont see this Android System taking up all the cpu. I wonder if that's caused by me having my GPS on and set to show my location at all times so my close friends can locate me.

Will Sprint limit me?

Had anyone suffered consequences for using data to much? Ever since I got my s4 I've been using 4g all the time listening to music from Google music Netflix etc. Last month I did about 10gb it's only been like 5 days on this month cycle and I'm already at 5.5gb so was wondering if I can see consequences or will I be good? Reason I have so much use is that I don't ever turn on my Wi-Fi since I have 4g I just leave it as is...in case you're wondering.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Nope you are fine.
Unless you're roaming a lot, they will not say a thing. I was using far more than that this summer via the hotspot mod wireless tether, and they never bothered me about it.
nope thats the benefit of having sprint

Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Like the above posters said you should be ok. I do know someone that was booted from sprint entirely for too much data used while roaming, lol. They get a little upset about that for sure.
