I tried everything but nothing seems to help. My samsung vibrant is rooted and i installed the oclf. When i try to run ext2 it tells me that i need to have at least 1mb of free space which i currenty have over 2gb. Please help
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

By the tidbit about "1 MB needed", I'm assuming you're running stock, unrooted kies updated KA6. It's going to be too complicated to get oclf enough space to run on your vibrant.
Downgrade to jfd using odin (and please don't ask how to do this, there are many guides in the stickies on how to flash through odin), then flash either a custom Rom or a stock deodexed Rom. This will then grant you enough spa e to run oclf (but why even do that when the current voodoo implementation is miles better than oclf ever was, save for quadrant scores).

Is it even worth it to root right now?

What would be the benefits of rooting right now? I just have the urge to mess with my phone for some reason.
Having root access to the phone...getting rid of bloatware...having root access apps...flashing one of the lighter ROMs we already have...being ready to flash a froyo ROM as soon as it hits...toying with the phone...lots!

Interesting, I guess I'll root today. What themes and roms are currently available? And anyone know when the "real" lag fix is coming?
Theres a couple different themes in the themes forum...nothing that appeals to me. Theres also a very nicely cleaned up rom in the dev forum. Install clockwork and check that out

In your opinion what is the best rooting guide to follow? There are a couple out there.
the sticky in the development section lol
Yeah I went to one click root. Followed the link to Android Central and followed the manual directions listed there.

It's out now?!?!
Found it!
I'm guessing we just flash this the same way I used to flash stuff on my droid? No need to rename to update.zip since I'm using clockwork, correct?
I dont understand why people want voodoo...what does it change?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
it changes the /system to ext4 format from FAT(i believe it is) which is much much faster on system read and writesso makes phone run way smooth

Just flashed voodoo. HUGE difference!
If i flash voodoo would i be able to switch back if the need arose?
Sent from my Samsung Fascinate using Tapatalk.
Rooted, Clockwork, Titanium Pro worth every penny (froze all things crap), voodooed.
Battery life and spiffyness is sweet. At 75% battery when at this point in the day I would be at 35 to 45%. Do it. Just make sure you read and read more. Coming from years of winmo this android stuff was definitely a huge learning experience.
good day.
there are a lot of apps for rooted phones, and you are able to flash clockworkmod so you can use it to install roms and make backups, and more....

Just getting rid of bing is worth it.

Lagfix? Axura

Axura is amazingly fast and stuff but I want it fast as before on when I had lag fix on my stock j16
Can I apply oclf and be good with no bugs or soft bricks or is there something else for the Axura lagfix
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Do not apply oclf. It does not play nice with axura use the voodoo kernel in the op of axura thread.

Put the voodoo.zip on your phones sd card, go into Clockwork mod recovery mode, choose install zip from sd card, and choose the voodoo.zip file, and the process will take awhile, so be patient

Voodoo works great on Axura. My phone has zero lag no matter what I throw at it.
Ill try it then thanks
i just did it, didnt take long at all. Does that mean something went wrong? Is there a way to see if its installed?

Go to the Team Whiskey site. There's a thread on the Voodoo install and uninstall. It very different then OCLF yet still easy just not as..
I don't even run a lag fix anymore, Axura 2.x is quite snappy without it. And I find Voodoo while it works well, it tangles up in my system more then I prefer because I'm always flashing something.
But that said, Axura and Voodoo and your flying.
Good luck.

Be sure to read everything FIRST. Also that guide is only for the verizon fascinate.
thnx i will read and attempt and let u know how it worked. do i need to uninstall one click lagfix? do i have to use rom manager donate or free?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Rom manager free works fine for me, as for the lag fix I am unsure, as I never used it. I would feel safer removing it before starting anything.
ok will do that and see how it works, thnx

Everyone I've ever talked to said its absolutely necessary to remove oclf before flashing voodoo so yes, do that first. Good luck!

what is a voodoo kernal?

I have the dl09 update rooted seen people talking about a voodoo kernals with lagfix... what is it. . And will it work with my stock rooted dl09
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
It is a kernel that converts the stock RFS file system to a more standard EXT4, which makes read/write processes go quicker.
If you want to try one of these kernels I highly suggest reading up as much as you can before flashing, because if you don't know what you are doing you can easily screw up your phone.
I agree with Kevin. Really do some reading and understanding before you flash voodoo. Half of the problems here are from folks who flash a voodoo kernel without knowing what they're doing.
With that said, the developers here have done some great stuff to add to our phone. Just take a little time to do some research before taking the next step.

R2 Gingerbread Voodoo Issues

Dear XDA World,
I have just recently rooted my phone using the superoneclick root on my 2.2 Froyo Vibrant after a good month of research. Currently, I am running Eugene's R2 Final Gingerbread ROM, and I love it; it is very stable and intricately in tune with the Vibrant's functionality. Now, my problem currently is flashing to a voodoo lag fix (frustrating as hell). Anyway, I have tried the JL4 voodoo. zip, because that is what this ROM is closest to, I believe. When I copied to SD card, and went into clockwork recovery to install, it failed, saying, "installation failed," or something similar to that. I thought that voodoo wasn't working for some reason, so I tried to flash Nero v3's ROM: same outcome. If anyone would take time to help out a new user, I would very much appreciate the help. I wish to put voodoo lag fix on this R2 ROM, to be clear. Please be descriptive.

please redownload the kernel and reflash.
You need to make sure the zip is on the internal sdcard. This could be your issue.

u are wrong if kernel was on his external sd and since clockwork dont mount external sd he cant even acces it so its imposible to flash something that is on your external card.
Bartek, more specific, please.
And yes, I'm certain it's on my internal... Haha.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
R E D O W N L O A D the file again and R E F L A S H , that is specific enough for You ? )
I have done that before. Same outcome.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
dude .when you went to clockwork to flash does it say installation failed or signature verification failed ? something like that didnt expain what your problem was
Yeah, read my first post again, I said it says "installation failed" and said it was aborting. This was all in clockwork.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
lol redownload the file again , reflash , or can you download anyother kernel instead of voodoo 4 and try ? or odin back to stock JfD with pit file and chceck repartition or if anyone knows better ............please post .
You sould really make sure the zip package is ZIP package not TAR package too, ZIP=CLOCKWORK, TAR=ODIN ,
I don't use Odin, man. It's a .zip package; example: I am rooted using R2 Gingerbread .zip. Can I not voodoo because I am missing a script or have the wrong kind? I've seen this in a few forums.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Oh and another thing is make sure u have enough room on internal sd about 1gb or more
why wont you flash DEAD HORSE BY EUGENE since GINGER R2 is released by EUGENE and DEAD HORSE is released by EUGENE also they fit like glowe , and you get ext 4 or JFS whichever u prefer .
That sounds like a good idea. What kernal of Dead Horse should I get? Does it matter in regards to compatibility?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
A link would be wonderful. Haha.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
i cant recomend anything because , i cant because .... it mit wipe your internal sd but http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=samsungsgs&thread=28&page=1#916 is the latest and safest before flashing read the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936928
Good deal. I will look into that today. Thank you.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
