Hello everyone,
As an excercise, I put togheter some infos/file I found here in Forum and I packaged a rom for i5800 based on JPF. I replaced some system apps with nice and
better ones. You can have fun with my rom donwloading and flashing into your phones.
Shortly my custom ROM has some features:
* rooted
* modified framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk (found here)
* new apps as: LaucherPro, RealCalc, SGS-Tools, Cubed
If you want I can mail the download link.
Best Regards
Over 8 posts I'll be able to show the download the link...
The ROM should be flashed with Odin as "One package". After booting you should configure the LauncherPro as you wish.
Hier are some screenshots of my i5800:

and the download link of the ROM ist here:

SGS-Tools ist a little application (that needs root permission) to send secret codes by pressing a button.(e.g. *#06# view IMEI number).
The ROM is !!!NOT!!! for Galaxy S. It work only with Galaxy 3 ( GT-i5800 )
So, do NOT try to flash it into other phone!
I think that SGS-Tools can't be installed as default on Galaxy S. Maybe is another app, this I have requires root permission.
Remember: I am not responsible if you brick your phone/device!

Hi,
You can call it how you want. I observe that there is an interest to my custom rom. My intention was to exercise a rom customization...
Anyway, if there is an interest I can do a little bit more.
I found here an optimized battery consumption kernel (from JPB) that responds
to ADB shell directly with root. I can include this kernel into my rom.
So if you like you can (all the viewers) suggest what apps are nicer to include them into a new rom version. You can also suggest some new themes (where to find it)
Another theme is deodex: should the rom deodexed be or not?
Best Regards

1)Cool Rom! congratulations! I just installed it and till now works fine
2)The theme that u are using looks great! If you want to offer more variety you can offer more framework files separately
3)If you are thinking of deodexing the rom then pls provide stock deodexxed apps to go with it..
Mods, can we please move this thread to "Development section"
Make this rom cleaned - delete stock apps.

* Pls replace 3dgallery with some other nice application wich doesnot suck battery charge.
* include the world wide APN settings - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11348984#post11348984

Pls dont take off applications like clock, FM-Radio, Memo an other stuffs which are very useful ..

Replace the internet browser with teh licensed version of dolphin browser which is like totally ad free. (Will upload teh browser and get you teh link in a while)

You have to download both, then you have to extract the files.
Right Click on the first Archive and unzip it.
Than you have one file, which you flash with Odin, using the one package option.

it's a volume archive... you have to uncompress one file and it will extract the content of both of the volumes. the uncompressed content it's only a *.tar file, and that is the one you need.
Ahh thanks I got it, installed it nicely
It's really quite beautiful haha
I installed it, too
It´s very fast. Whats your Quadrant result?
Great work kyrillos!
The rom is really great
JIT and Flash
when is JIT and flash 10.1 coming on our system? i mean i do understand our hardware doesnt support flash but JIT is possible right. why is samsung not releasing source code yet and if it has where is it? i do need JIT, will give immense boost to our speed!!
Kyrillos ROM v3.0 is really awesome.
I flashed it yesterday evening and I'm convinced that it is the best available custom ROM out there (everything works until now).
Solved, not kyrillos fault but mine. Thank you for your answer kyrillos.
I just found one little problem (which isn't a real big deal):
Notification-texts are still black. To give an example I used QuickSettings-notification and opened a white site in the background (screenshot attached).
Does everyone has this little problem or just me? Is there a way to manually change it?

Open quick settings => menu => Preferences => Invert Notification Color (tick)
I can''t post in development section so I write here, that Rom is relly good, but has one big problem for me, battery draind too fast

hi guys,
i have flashed only 30+ roms untill today but i still don't really know some answers? if somebody smarter than me can answer my questions below i will really appreciate. I tried to find the exact answers searching the forums but i was confused.
1. is it important which wm6.5 rom we had lastly flashed before we flash a nand rom?
2. is the radio important? (i read that radio 2.12... is better for battery life)
3. is "creating an ext4 partition with mini partition tool wizard" better than "partitioning sd card in rocovery menu during installation" ?
4. if i don't use a2sd or someting like that and only use my internel memory for apps, will my rom run faster and have better battery life?
5. the roms we install includes a kernel right? so should we install some other kernels for better performance, battery life etc..? what is the difference between the kernels ?
6. if i don't care how beautiful or good looking my rom interface is, which type of roms (sense, miui..) is better for battery life and performance.

it must be a tmous radio = meaning it must support the 576mb hack on regular hd2, = meaning a radio that has 50 as teh third set of digits
2.15.50, , 2.12.50, 2.10.50 will work, 2.12.51 wont.

no reason why it should be better. personal preference.

unlikely. certainly not anything noticeable.

cm7 > miui > sense or maybe miui > cm7 > sense, , , ,probably.
Just saying, your title is wrong. Most NAND users don't need these answers as they already know these answers by reading
Oh and for 5 (seeing as samsamuel either forgot or didn't know) you can install other kernels depending on the type of ROM you're on, but often it isn't really necessary. For example, on Typhoon CM7 I tried Dorimanx's kernel and really didn't notice any difference from the stock Tytung R14. I haven't tried many other kernels, and some will obviously have advantages over others, so I guess the only way to find out which is the best for your usage is by flashing all of the compatible ones you can find and using your phone as normal with those kernels for a day or so, and just figure out which is best through how fast they feel and using CurrentWidget to measure battery drain.

hehe, , 100% didnt know, never changed a kernel, , iom still feeling my way slowly with android.

Thanks for the answers.
i have one more question. i don't want to bother you, if you just have free time to answer.
i replaced the trobuchet launcher apk file with nova launcher.apk getting into the zip file/system/app folder and installed the rom. it worked well. so i wonder if i can change the phone.apk or others as the way i like . i will try anyway.

I'm not certain but I think not. I use the app 'exDialer' and when you go to edit contacts or when you're in the in-call screen it uses the stock phone app, so if you remove the stock phone app I would think you wouldn't be able to use the phone/edit contacts. This is on CM7 btw, so I don't know about CM9 or AOKP.

you are right about ex dialer or similar dialer apps. they only change the interface and the phone.apk works at background for dialing someone, comunicating with the network operator and that kind of technical stuff. But if i try miui roms phone.apk or sense phone.apk instead, it may work fine. i just don't know if there is some other things to change in zip file which is about phone.apk

I highly doubt either Sense or MIUI's dialers would work on any ROM other than a Sense or MIUI ROM. If that were the case, don't you think everyone would be replacing system apps with whichever app from whichever Android version/manufacturer skin they wanted? If I were you, I wouldn't even bother trying it out. All you'll end up having to do is reflash the ROM which would basically just be effort.
Dont know whether I should put this here or in general.....
Anyways, I do have a laptop now. I can make mods etc, but I do not know how. What is the best way to make soft-mods?
What devs allow softmods?
What do people want in a softmod?
Any suggestions would be welcome!
Thanks for your Offer.
I recommend you to make a Froyo Soft-Mod, cause we've a lot of GB CM7 on this forums, will be great to see more Froyo's ROM updated.
Take (with his permission) Miroslav's Utopia to start.

Well you can always edit png's in framework. You can use uot kitchen, dsixda kitchen, xultimate.
Init.d can be tweaked
If you want a complete ROM build you can try aosp froyo. You might use pcfighter / zice kernel .....

When i created my soft-mod i didn't use a computer.
U don;t really need a computer to create a mod.
U just need root explorer. unless u want to create it into a recovery zip

Hi.
I want start to make Rom .
Where should I start *?
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda app-developers app
Start by making soft-mods. Get a Rom flash it on your phone, dont add any personal stuff like contacts yet. Put in some nice apps themes tweaks and mods and after that use CWM to back it up and it "should" be ready to share... well at least that is somewhere to start from.
Edit: For those planning to make 4.0 softmods maybe you can also see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680328 i know its from the SGSII but i guess the way to do things is similar. (just dont use the flashable thing from the mediafire link!)
Hi,
I am a iphone user since 2009. I recently decide to made a switch to Android. I am waiting to receive my first Nexus 4.
Some question about rooting:
1 ) iphone jailbreak community has Cydia, where you can install theme, tweak, package, repo. How is it different in Android? My impression is that we have different custom room with different features. Is there a way that user can install individual tweak, package from different sources to stock android?
2) With cydia, I tried a lot of different tweak, themes to make it more customized for me.
It would be great if someone also came from cydia world can elaborate more on the your experience btw cydia and android custom world.

So I can start with rooted stock android and install individual tweak, package to make it similar to a custom rom, right?
It doesnt make sense for me to install the whole custom just because of 1 or 2 feature. Each custom rom will have pro and con, so I am trying to see if I can pick the best out of each.
Not sure if that is possible

You can also get the stock package + the custom ROM that sounds most promising to you, then edit the stock package while comparing it with the custom one, it's the method i used :good: this way, you can have full control on what mods to include and learn quite a lot
