[Q] Disk drive access - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

New to WP7, and I have to say I LOVE it. It is so fast and smooth and practically no bugs!
I am trying to dual boot WP7 and Android now and the guide that I am using requires a card reader for the Android portion. Is there another way to do this? Can I access my disk drive via WP7 like I had on 6.5? Thanks!

[Q] Android and WP7 Dual Boot

With the recent developments of Android and WP7 for the HD2, I really can't decide between the two. Will there be an option of dual boot like with WM6.5? I'd love to have this option.
I would definitely love for this to happen, although WP7 is in the lead for me now, booting android once in a while wont be so bad.
i think itz possible in tmobile usa HD2 with itz 1gb ROM ... two partitions using two NAND OS... dual NAND..
I'm very interested in this option. Hopefully this will be available soon.
I hoppe we find a solution for Leo from EU (512Mo).
Like WIN6.5 + Android on SD ?
My favorite way : Android in NAND, WP7 on SD !!
think we should be able to still boot android off sd with magldr... we just need to switch to a different sd card that wasn't used with wp7. I hope its possible. will be trying it soon.
i would love to do this, i have a 124 leo.
F*ck the 512!
Android+WP7 would be sweeeet for 1024!

But since your lazy, yes there is. Its called Titanium backup and it saves all your apps and settings into a file. When you install a new build just recover that file from within Titanium backup and all your apps and stuff will be there.

So...does anyone here speak enough Chinese to make more sense of this than Google Translate does? I think some sort of modification needs to be made to init.rc. Possibly system.img too. It's also not clear to me if a NAND or SD ROM is meant to be used. There are some links which I'm trying to make sense of...

Im unsure on how to do this also, if anybody fancys typing it into something we could follow it would be great!
Im in work today and my phone is fully charged ready for win7/android combo
How would you boot android from nand if you can't access the file system of the SD card?
Its an unknown format and magldr surely won't be able to boot anything from it.
Maybe it works the other way round, though?
Or you could use your phone7 without sd card...
hey that may even work.
Limited storage for phone7 - who cares?

That's what I would like to be able to do. WP7 is nice to play with at this stage but I still plan to use Android most of the time.

Half of the sdcard is formatted in FAT32. The other in WP7 system file.

I have already declared in the title dual boot, or have friends do not understand the altar. After the following modifications, select the boot wph start guide wp7, select the boot ad sd sd boot on Android , Android WP7 and dual-boot, the boot options can, without disturbing each other. Start wp7 will not interfere with sd card, wp7 sd card did not even know exist, the question is wp7 little space available, but at least can be used.
Expect experts to address the first time in wp7 can choose to start the occupation of the sd card space, do not fully occupied enough.

Thank DFT ! Because SD Android running well, I have not brush Nand Android, waiting for the arrival of WP7.
Today, DFT has released long-awaited HD2 users WP7, I finally started to brush. Brush some of the altar before the access to the Friends of the experience, that really exclusive WP7 SD card, which can later how to run Android.
I have access to the information carefully and found that the SD card as WP7 only system expansion space, the first start of the SD card partition to use. Therefore, I decided to removed the SD card so reserved for Android use.
PC: Windows 7
HD2: SHPL 2.08
SD: Sandisk 8G c4 (from the phone in the show)
The following is the process of Brush:
1. Three-color screen brush Magldr 112 (all normal, NES Set )
2.Magldr start to select the USB Flasher, PC-side DWI (all normal)
3. Phone reboots directly into the WP7, simple to use, after all the normal (free space 98M)
4. Handset off
5. Insert SD card
6. boot holding down the hold button, enter the Magldr menu
7. Set always shows the menu (to decide, because I want to dual-boot often, so set the boot menu)
8. Set the boot path SD card Android
9. Guide the SD Android, the show finished HTC interface (kernel, Init after) boot into Andoird animation between the phone restart
Episode: I stupid out, SD card, there are a lot of information not backed up, hands and no card reader, can not enter the Andoird, the backup can not, WP7, when not installed into the SD card, do not expect him to. Fortunately, there are menu items that Magldr USB storage (my first use of Magldr), select this option, the memory card sorting.Remove the SD card all the Android-generated directory (the directory is generated Android, do not also delete a Android), re-boot, the first screen to enter Andoird die.
10. Online access to information, Magldr guide SD card Android, need to modify inti.rc.
11. Will system.img (I use the DHD Android) copied to the Linux modified.
In the service ril-daemon / system / bin / rild-l / system / lib / libhtc_ril_wrapper.so append --d / dev/smd0 nand parameters, to support
Nand boot.
12. Returns Android phone, after a successful boot.
Nagging: WP7 egg really hurt, WIFI without any settings, I have been using a static IP, can not be set.

He's dual booting, but none of the SD card space is for WP7. It only has around 100megs left. WP7 automatically RAID0's the whole card with internal memory for space. That's why removing the card screws up WP7 and a hard reset has to be done. I think what would be ideal is if the card could be split into 8gb for WP7 and 8GB for Android, but part of the problem is you can't call HARET.exe or CLRCAD.exe because there is no OS to understand those executables.

[Q] DualBoot Wp7 and android?

Just Installed Windows Phone 7 on my HD2 and I was wondering if there's a way to Dual boot Windows phone 7 and Android Either SD builds or NAND builds.
Thanks in advance
Can you not run Haret or whatever other android loader you have from your wp7 file explorer? P.S. I haven't installed WP7 yet, I need to know if Dual Boot is possible
I can't even find a file explorer
so far I like really the looks of WinPhone 7 but I miss the Functionality
There is a guide for this under the android dev forums, its one of the stickies.
You can still run android from SD with magldr... you just have to either partition your sd card or switch sd cards used for wp7 and android. WP7 doesn't run winmo apps. And doesn't come with file explorer, but schaps made a file explorer called touchexplorer that you can install. Read around the forums, there are directions allover for this stuff. I have WP7 on my nand right now with a 16gb card, and I'm about to setup my 32gb card to run android off of.
Thanx, so I have an 8 GB card and i'm Currently runing WinPhone 7
I don't Know exactly how to partition it and the method to run android too is there a guide?
and will it be NAND or SD build?
and if both of them run will Both OS's be able to see same Music, Photos, etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
Here's a guide.
And no, they won't be able to see same music or anything... they will be completely seperate partitions and can't read each other. WP7 will be on NAND and Android is ran from SD card.
Thank u so much
just another Question plz
Android can't be run from NAND also as a second operating system, it must be an sdcard build right?
Edit: Ignore that found the answer in the thread which is no it must be ran from SD
Thanx again

[Q] WP7 with SD Card installation like Android etc?

Hi there,
I was wondering if it would be possible in the near future to have WP7 running of an SD card like with Android. Because now I've finally found a near to perfect Android build (SuperRAM by darkstone) because my battery life is even better than on WM! I would like to have the option to still choose this one as my daily driver, but I would really love to have a go with WP7. It would be great to have an Android build, WP7 build and maybe a Meego build (in the future) all on the same SD card, with windows still running on NAND. I'm no real techie so I dunno if it is too much to ask, but I would really like to know my possibilities. Thanks in advance.
Same here. I think il always want wm 6.5 as a default os. Theres no way im flashing wp7 until its run off sd card or ram. I really want an answer on this. Triple boot!
hd2 wm6.5 android and wm7 all in one?
so right now i have the wm6.5 as my main os and have android to use when ever i need or want to show it off. after iam done i shut down android and turn the phone on again and wm6.5 reloads. can i do that with wm7? i want to keep wm6.5 the way i have it now and be able to load android or wm7 when ever i want and the go back to wm6.5. is that possible? THIS WAS A POST I MADE ON ANOTHER THREAD. I HERE WOULD LIKE TO KNOWIF THIS IS POSSIBLE
I want the exact same thing. But after doing a bit of reading it looks unlikely at the moment. Its nand only. I guess we can just pray there will be a sd ram version in the works
it can be done its been posted on here somewhere but its a very long winded process.
search for a dual boot.thinking of doing this myself
just a hypothesis, but since wp7 formats the sd card when it is fllashed, and then acts as if it is internaal storage, even if you could boot wp7 from an sd card, you would need another one to use as internal storage. if it was possible to partition the sd card and use one of the partitions to boot wp7 and the other for storage, you wouldn't have any data space for android (pics, songs etc.) So back to square one...
Exactly what I am looking for
WM6.5 main OS, with Android and/or WP7 running off SD Card.

[24-Jan-11][Q] Multi Boot 3 or more OS's

Does anybody have or know of a multi boot program/utility that will allow me to boot more than 2 OSs from the SD card?
I currently boot Android from the SD card while booting WM6.5 from NAND.
The ideal program would be a program that ran from NAND and function similar to Linux's Grub. I figure there would be one OS in NAND and the remaining would boot from the SD card.
I want to do this for multiple reasons:
#1. Because the HD2 is the best mobile phone and I love to show people what it can do. Especially iPhone users (its too bad we can't port iOS to the HD2).
#2. Because I would like the flexibility of choosing which OS I want to use an any given time.
#3. Because it's just geeky cool!!!
tqnQ
It was very nice tanQ
i was wondering this question aswell. is there a program that can choose wat you boot?
you could have WP7 on nand
SD android build
Ubuntu on SD
We are waiting for dan1j3l to sort out his bootloader to get Debian and Ubuntu from SD.
And possibly Backtrack5 if you were really geeky
Is that enough??

IMHO, SD build is not for daily use. Battery drains fast and SD card warms up and causes lags all the time.
BTW, you can flash back WM on any time, even without a PC, you just need a file
photimg.nbh with your WM ROM on SD card root folder.
Prepare a high capacity memory card.
You don't need to boot from SD anymore, booting from SD is not stable,it will slow down the speed.
I had been thinking of Dualboot, but it looks like still not available yet,but be patient,it might be available in the future.
So why not just use this ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677950
A lot of ROMs over there. Try it out! I'm using CM Scream, nearly perfect!
I recommended you to buy a high capacity memory card so you can install android apps to card instead of internal memory. They have a lot of FREEBIES for you to install compared to windows mobile.
Google search for original rom if you want to use back the Windows Mobile 6.5.3
No USB
Hi guys,
I have a problem with my phone's USB port, so is there a way to install the NAND version from SD card?? Without having an Active Sync connection to the PC??
Thanks
About usb connection
currently,it looks like quite confused.Anyway, you can use wifi to connect to your android instead.
Use AirDroid (FREE) It is really useful and easy!!You will like it!! USB is more trouble than it.

Hey, thanks for the tip. It looks useful but only AFTER I get android My problem is that I want to install android, but don't have USB. I know there are SD card versions, but those are not good for daily use. The card heats up and there are a lot of breaks and freezes. So I'm asking if there is a way to install a ROM (Nand) from SD card.
Suggestion
USE:
CARD READER(MEMORY CARD TO PC)/ Connect your Windows Mobile to PC via WiFi (Download by using your Windows Mobile/Connect to PC) Remote Desktop or something like that??I never use it so I'm not sure.
Or do you have another Android in your windows mobile already? If have, you can download Airdroid and copy the files from PC to your MEMORY CARD and then uninstall the SD version of android then install the NAND android.(quite tricky)

For example, there is a way to flash a new ROM (WM) from SD. You extract the contents of the EXE file and rename the RUU_Signed.nbh to PHOTIMG.nbh and run bootloader. Isn't there something similar for the Android OS ROMs??? I'm sure it's more or less the same procedure.

AFAIK, it's not possible. ROM requires some digital signing to run.
Even custom WM ROMs you could not install from SD for the same reason.
