respring atrix - Atrix 4G General

Is there any way to respring the phone (iPhone style), so I don't have to restart or turn off/on.

Not really, it needs to reload the new theme so it needs to do at a minimum a partial reboot.

[Q] Black screen issue.

Every mornin after charging all night, my phone decides it wants to go black.. and ironically enough, not come back.
I have to pull the battery and reboot. It happens 4-5x in the morning, then doesn't happen the rest of the day. What would cause this?
- Nebula Lemon Slice ROM
- DK28
- SetCPU running @ 100-1000 conservative (only reason I mention this is it always seems to happen shortly, not immediately, after installing)
If you need any more info just ask.

Still no resolution for this issue. Returning my Epic today.
Try odining back to stck and then flashing dk8 again and the nebula rom see if that fixes it and try to format your sdcard to.

I have the same problem. It only occurs after I activate set cpu and it goes to sleep. If I turn set cpu off (after a battery pull) then it's fine. I just figured that set cpu doesn't support the epic that well yet.

Power off trick

I was pressing random buttons on my phone when it suddenly turned off. I was pressing Power + Vol Down + Trackpad at the time when it turned off. I booted up the phone and reproduced the same results again.
Did I just discover this or does everyone know?
That's the easy way to turn off the phone.

Hey, I'm new to the site and relatively new to Android. I had a Nexus One for a while, got rid of it due to not having a decent way to sync music to the phone and got an i*hone. Had that for about a year and just got rid of it since I was tired of living in the walled garden and got an HTC Incredible.
Also, my phone just froze up on me and I used this trick to shut it down and then restart it. Way easier than having to pull the battery and then restart. Thanks for the tip!!

Welcome to the site! I'm sure that you'll love the Incredible much more than the iPhony
I didn't know that it worked during a freeze also. I guess I'll do that instead of a battery pull the next time I press the "freeze for 5 minutes" button in Dev Tools on accident.
Keep on holding it to boot into debugging mode

I've only done it a few times
It boots the phone into a mode where no apps besides system apps boot up, so u vs unistall any apps that prevent the phone from booting like set CPU if you overclock to high

Vibrant wont autoturn off screen while charging.

I got my Vibrant rooted and flashed for over a year now (?) and i'm currently running TeamWhiskey Bionic NextGen 2 w/ Overstock, i know a little be old but i like this Rom, anyway my problem is that everytime i connect my phone to charge, especially overnight, i have to manually turn the screen off otherwise stay on in the lowest dim, now if is the screen is off and i get a message or a call the screen will stay on and it wont turn off by itself, i keep my phone on silent overnight, nobody is messing with my sleep , and sometimes when i woke up my screen is on...this only happen when the phone is charging...any ideas?

Battery Life is Horrible on Airplane Mode

I have an old Droid 2 that doesn't function as a phone that I only use in Airplane mode. I occasionally turn on WiFi to download an app or to sync something.
It's running MIUI.
A strange thing that I keep running into is that it wants to activate on bootup, but I can't activate (not an active device) or skip it.
The battery usage graph deisplays that "Phone Calls" are taking 70%+ on the battery.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Screenshot is attached.
it's been awhile since I've used miui
but doesn't look like phone is in airplane mode
i think you can disable network data in settings
may even try freezing phone app
not sure what that will do
make sure you have a nandroid

I've tried both, freezing the app only broke a bunch of other things. The disabling of network data also didn't affect it.
I'm pretty sure it's the activation at the beginning that I can't skip.

I don't think so
you could try another rom, I like liquid or cm7
If you head over to Rootzwiki there's a zip you can flash that will remove the phone apk and that should solve your problems.
Droid 2 has a very bad battery
I would buy a second battery

Your Droid 2 must be on stock/GB.
I am guessing most people with battery issues are using ICS

Saving battery when not in use?

So I have a Nexus 7 and an S3, the former becoming recently rather redundant as I got the new iPad (was tired of lack of optimised tablet apps). I still, however, love the form factor when reading and this I do relatively frequently, maybe 3-4 times a week.
The form factor is also useful when I just want to pop out for a bit and feel like taking it with me, whereas the static iPad I tend to keep either at home or take to university with me.
The only issue is due to me using the nexus less, i am less aware of how much charge it holds. And the standby battery is terrible compared to the iPad, which I can honestly say would last about a month if I wasn't using it.
Is there anything I can do to my tablet to maybe tone down the CPU when not in use or maybe disable internet connection when not in use, as I'm sure these two things may be affecting the battery when it shouldn't.
I don't need my tablet to constantly be up to date the second I turn it on I wouldn't mind if it took a minute or so to show me new updates / emails e.t.c.
Thanks!
Keep WiFi and sync off. I don't keep WiFi or sync on (my g'nex keeps me up to date) and my standby battery is good. Never left it sitting for a full day but over 12 hours I only lose 2-3%.

used power toggles to turn sync off, but out of curiosity where is the normal menu option for it?
cheers for that, 5% a day is absolutely fine!
They made this one hard to find. Settings > Data usage > Menu options (3 vertical dots in upper right) > Auto-sync data (put check mark). It's really a pain. I use Notification Toggle to have an option to toggle it from my notifications pull-down shade.
just turn it off if your not using it or set your tablet to sleep mode
If your device is rooted use set CPU and use profiles so you can make you processor only do like 50mhz when the device is on sleep

My phone wouldn't wake back up when I did that... Lowest I got it at was around 300 MHz

I wouldn't be using any of these battery saving apps as most cause more battery drainage than they save.
BetterBatteryStats is the only app you need, free on XDA but support the developer by buying it on Google Play it really is a great app for the small price, and will identify the main battery hogs without using hardly any itself
