hi guys, tried to look this up but did not find any info yet.
Here is the problem, I am using Informant 2005 (dont ask why) I thought I backed up my contacts and then deleted them from the device. Then I tried to restore but nothing came up, no contacts.. Is there a way to get my contacts back???
Thanks !
Hi,
i copied my sim contacts to the phone and now i have every contact twice!
Is there any way to read contacts ONLY from phone?
ty!
From Home screen:
Phone > Menu> People >Menu> View then check whichever directories you want to be displayed.
or
All apps> People >Menu> View then check whichever directories you want to be displayed.
thanks for answer!
i did it but that's work ONLY for menu>people
If i go menu>phone still shows both sim and phone contacts.. :/
*Boom*
Any help on this?
I deleted contacts on the SIM card.
And now I have every contact only once.

A Nandroid backup removed your contacts???
it's not possible...
i'm doing export to sdcard (vcf file) sometimes. The best way backup contacts - yes i'm syncing to google too, but better safe than sorry
Hi,
I somehow deleted all my contacts!
All I can remember is that I installed Skype and next time I opened Contacts it showed only Skype contacts, all other are gone. And no, they're not hidden or something.
Also, I am sure i saved a backup on SD card, but can't find it.
Any ideas on how to restore my contacts?

or simply just restore them using that app.

Thanks, this helped me remember: I exported contacts to .vcf file and saved it on /mnt/sdcard, but it's gone too.
Also, i remembered another thing: I have Viber installed. It is common knowledge D) that Viber copies all the contacts to its own address book. But now even Viber's contacts are gone!

There are two ways to restore phone contacts
1- if you backed up your contact to sd card goto contacts app
Press menu key on phone
Select import/export
Import from sd
Select your backup file from list
2- restore your nandroid backup in cwm (if you have previously created a backup of the rom you are using - restores all system data back to that point)
If you haven't got either of these backups you have just learnt why it's important to have a nandroid backup & other backups
Well that heppened my friends ace but he had backup it solved the problem
ROM EVOLUTION X3
KERNEL HELL FUSION
ALINS JB THEME + EVOLUTION S3 STATUS BAR.

You can ONLY restore yout contacts if you have a BACKUP.
A Backup is made manually, through the Options Menu @ Contacts App.
If you Sync a Google account and Sync Gmail, your contacts can be there! Login to your Googlel account and look for your contacts.
Or, maybe they are just hide, as mentioned above. Go to Contacts App, hit Menu, Viewing Options and Check (v) all the groups of contacts.
Try this.

Data recovery software?
Thank you all for your effort. You made good points, but since I can't find my backup, I can't make much use of them
I was thinking data recovery software... Anybodu used any?
Anybody used this Tenorshare Photo Recovery? any-data-recovery.com/topics/mobile-devices/android-recovery.html
Try undelete from market as contacts are saved in internel memory and they dont have FAT32 fornat type you would not be able to recover all your contacts

Thanks, but my phone is not rooted
I hoped to recover my backup or Viber's contacts from SD card.
I think I'll give this Photo Recovery a shot...

Hello everyone!
I just recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos and for the most part it works like a charm (rooted and all), but I have run into a strange issue...
Going into "Contacts" and setting "Contacts to Display" whatever I choose does not stick. For example I can choose to display "On Device" contacts only, I can see that it takes effect, then I exit out of contacts and go back into Contacts app again and it has then reverted back to displaying "All" contacts again (showing Skype/Gmail etc contacts which I do not want!)
Do anyone here know if this is a known bug with Samsung S5 (G900F/FD) under KitKat 4.4.2 or could it be a side effect of me having frozen a number of things with Root Uninstaller (I only froze them so they can be restored if need be!)
Do you know which dependencies Contacts depends on to be running for it to work properly?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated,
Kindest regards,
XDAFan.
Commenting here as I have the same issue (no solution found here either) though with me, it is intermittent, and my contacts to display are those stored on my sim card....S5 international with rooted kitkat.......

Same problem - it resets to displaying all contacts after I close the app - both on stock rom 4.4.2 and Alexandr's 5.0 on G900F. Hope someone has a hint ...
I actually managed to fix the issue for my phone.
It was because I had used this backup app to transfer the call history/contacts etc over to the new phone, and certain entries being linked so as far as I remember what I did was I went into the contacts and unlinked any contacts that were "stuck together" and then deleted any duplicates etc. so I had all the contacts set up just the way I wanted them.... THEN I backed the contacts up using the built in function in Samsungs Contacts settings to do so (saved them onto the external memorycard)...
Then I went ahead and deleted ALL of my contacts off the phone, and lastly restored them from the backup I had made.
This made the display setting stick.

hello i have a lumia 950xl and recently got back from a insider build to the stock one using windows device recovery tool.
After getting back i reinstalled all my apps formatting sd card and configuring the device as a new one; whatsapp can't find my contacts and when i get to favourite contacts --> refresh i get nothing, i tried everything but nothing happens.
I tryied to reinstall whatsapp, check under privacy --> contacts if whatsapp had the permissions but i can't find a way to have back my contacts. Any ideas??
Update: i post how i solved, just in case someone else get into this problem
I've made a backup of my outlook contacts in CSV format, delete all contacts from outlook site and sync the phone and put the contacts back on outlook.com and everything was good
