I wouldn't get too excited.... It's a base to build from but the overall feel is..... It's no better than froyo just yet..... I thought 2.3 was supposed to make our phones at least comparable to the snapdragon cpu power?
If anyone watched the video.... I was under the impression that quadrant was incompatible with 2.3.... But it runs through flawlessly on the video... Does that strike anyone else as odd?

okay guys! 6 months left till we get it!

New i9000 GB is running great. Will be putting out a stock+fixes build a little later today [hopefully]. GPS still doesn't work, but that's to be expected. Toggle headset still needs to be used to listen to music on headphones. Good news is the ram issue is 100% gone. Stock music player doesn't give reboots either.

The par for the course was about the laggy performance quite evident in the video. Their software is terrible. Always has been, and always will be.
It was the same on the pre-release Galaxy S phones and people said "it's a pre-release phone." Don't come crying here when you need a lag fix for your awesome GSII.

Sweet... from vibrant to mytouch4g to nexus s to galaxy 2. If its really got a dual core Sammy processor then we are talking Orion? If this baby comes out by summer then that best buy buy back insurance is going to be pretty nice!
I love my sns on cyanogen but really miss all the great codecs etc. Team whiskey really made the vibrant special. I hate touchwhiz but ifs easier to remove most of the bad with that and keep all the good with guys like team whiskey and supercurio than it is to try to hack all of it back in. You get a permenant rfs fix and get rid of the overlay and everything's flying high! The sns seems to have a better screen than my vibrant did in all areas save for the gorilla glass. Can't even imagine a samoled without pentile, its going to be amazing! Wonder how that Orion's going to card against qualcomm and Tegra2... gpu will definitely be nice at the very least. Qualcomm will probably always own the linpack scores but a phone is so much better than that. Lets hope by then gingerbread gets hardware enabled browsing...

Its still going to be called gingerbread

Is it bad if I am using CM7 beta as my daily driver? I have an obsession.

I think I have a CM addiction. It was on my hero, the my evo, and now that I can actually have some flavor of CM I have to use it. It surely is stable to be honest, much more stable than eg22 leak base roms. Who needs a camera and gps anyway! Not this guy! Do not judge me!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yes, it is bad. Next question?
But seriously, If you can live without a camera, LEDs, GPS, WiMax, and Video Playback (according to their own thread), go for it.
I actually use all those things.
Lol it's never bad if you're used to legitimately using betas and going without features.

The main things I'm waiting for are GPS and WiMAX. I'll be waiting a while for the later.
I do a decent amount of traveling for my job, and rarely to the same place twice, so GPS is pretty handy.
WiMAX sure beats 3G for tethering. Airport wifi is quite annoying. Plus my favourite coffee shop has a funky router that the following devices of mine have NOT worked on:
Toshiba Satellite w/ Windows 7
Apple Macbook Pro with 10.6.8
Google CR-48
Epic 4G
T-Mob G1
I've complained to no avail. I can go without 4G for a while, but I don't think CM will be a full replacement for me until it has WiMAX support.
All of that said I'm thankful for the development we have had. When I install Cyanogen on my Epic I'm reminded of how fantastic CM6 was on my G1. The things that work work perfectly, the phone zips around, the battery holds up, the Epic port has had some very solid development and we should all remember to be thankful for what we have rather than hold unreal expectations.
Ditto. Its hard to leave 4G because I have had it since launch day of this phone. Its what 5x faster? Overclocking Cyanogen with Tegrak makes it fast as can be but when downloading anything or connecting to XDA app,etc you can really feel the difference in data speed

if your waiting for 4g to hop on the cm7 train, then you will be waiting quite a while, don't expect it anytime soon. but gps should be here soon, decad3nce said he found the fix.

Stratosphere Soon

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/2...osphere-comparisons-to-other-devices-as-well/
This means Stratosphere will come out soon. That will help us on MIUI and CM7 etc, because it's kernel source will help us.
Also, same specs as epic.

How about 720p video recording. Its suppose to only have 480p.

I just want CM7 on our Epic and if it comes by way of official GB for our Epic or from getting the things we need from the Stratosphere version of GB, then I'll be happy. As long it can tie me over until the Prime or SGS III, I will be satisfied.
It's all software

I think that's just a software limitation and it could be fixed by modifying the kernel settings.
For example, when I had my HD2 with stock Windows Mobile 6.5, the maximum recording resolution I managed to get was ~ 640x480 .
with hacked Android 2.3 installed (Ported from the Desire) it jumped to 800x600!.
with hacked Windows Phone 7 (Ported from the HD7) it jumped to 1280×720!!!.

Install it using Cyanogenmod 9, it has Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 it is amazingly fast. The battery lasts a lot more. The only bad thing is that it will not have Video camera recorder. And the fingerprint unlock won't work eather. Beside that everything else is so fast and cool. You can install Google Chrome!

Running great for me, too soon on battery. Just for the record, streaming via 3g/4g in a moving car is not the best way to test battery life, so many variables. Battery life on the nightlies has been great for me. 20+ hours regularly, with 2h+ on screen time is great in my opinion.

I know but that is my normal use if it doesn't hold up during normal use then it doesn't work for me. On CM7 I lose about 10-12% during the same commute.
I'm running stock everything, no fancy kernels. I do have the tweaks listed in a post somewhere here in the general section, and I run Juicedefender because I have it setup to turn off data and then check every 30 minutes for email updates etc.. other then that nothing else.
