Im having a hell of a time Flashing anything but the CM7 RC2 Rom... i do everything that it says on the rom pages... format this and wiping that... i then Reboot... and waitfor 10 mins... it never gets past the mytouch 4g screen...
Is it a radio thing?
I have been reading the forum and found nothing...
Thanks in Advance...
and the problem is that i cant flash the backup of my original rom and i cant flash any of the nightly builds...
Please help...
Im falling back to my Vibrant because i cant seem to find a decent rom....
thanks
Which version of CM do you have installed?
it sounds like a recovery issue. are you using 3.0.0.5 or 3.0.0.6. check this thread out if you're on 3.0.0.5, it will get ya on 3.0.0.6 which will allow you both FroYo and Gingerbread ROMs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944681
i hear you... but that raises the question... why would i be able to flash CM7 RC2 and not the nightly builds... i have tried 3 different nightly builds and i cant flash them... i have tried... 19,20, and 30... thanks...
not having the right recovery sounds like the issue for not being able to restore your nandroid backup, possible bad download is only thing I can think of for the other issues... I haven't ran into this on any of my devices.

I would try flashing cwm 3.0.0.6 just to be safe and at bare minimum rule out that possibility.

Hi all, Im currently using a jw miui rom, but noticed that there is a newer rom on the miui site for the hd2. What is the difference between the ones on this forum and the official roms. Will the miui from miuiandroid work out of the box?
As a user of MIUIandroid.com ROM i can say it will work out of box as you ask just flash the recovery or CLK and then recovery of 160/5 size and flash it as any other ROM all i can i say is that i tried many MIUI ROMs and this one is best for me and it has even OTA updates.....
jirka607
Thanks, does the latest include all the gps stuff and what kernel? Sorry to be a pain.
For magldr its tytung R12 for CLK you can install any kernel you want but it must be somehow modified to be compatible with MIUI i think GPS libs must be installed but its not a big problem i think.
OH and its OK ask waht you want!
Looks like I will be updating my jw miui after work. Thanks again
NO problem anything you wanna ask just write me Im glad i could help.
Stuck again. I installed and all was fine but then in installed apps2sd+ ind it is stuck on the htc screen.
Did you wait enought ?
Some rom need a long time on the firt boot.
Sorted now, I re-installed and did the rom and the apps2sd+ before rebooting and then su cache2sd once rebooted and it works. Only problem i have now is gmail not syncing then FC.
I sorted the gmail thing, just updated the app and rebooted.
I've been playing around and noticed that the is a hd option in the camcorder settings and it does work. Is it actually 720p?
i never tried but i dont think its 720p
Recommend jw good stable roms, also try gomiui, using this at moment and no faults
I was using jw, but as he decided not to update to the latest miui release, I thought I'd do it myself.
when installing CM9 to your defy is it the same process for flashing CM7 or is there a slight variation or something?
Now why would you open a new thread for this question?
i realised that i could've directly asked on the actual CM9 thread, only after i'd just posted this thread, sorry.
another weird thread

The original thread was Dev based, about the ROM being released and how stable it is as released. This thread was noob based about how to flash said ROM and if it is different from another, very similar ROM.
Why clutter one thread when you can have two?
Anyway, to answer the question instead of of questioning the question, Yes the basic principle is the same. Once you have the System Recovery installed, it's a case of copying the CM9 zip file to your SD card and flashing the same as CM7, although the way I've personally done it is using Multiboot, so that I can normally use CM7 for "production" but can have a go and see how CM9 is progressing for a few minutes or so.
The Multiboot thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364659
Have fun.

And to get back to CM7 from CM9, you only have to flash the CM7 zip?

Reboot and press vol- when you seen blue light. You'll be taken to the bootmenu. It's stated in there version of your current bootmenu.
And yes you need to change it speaking of compatibility..

Absolutely not. You don't need to mess around with bootmenu versions and other stuff. Just read the thread i pointed to above, it works, proven by people following it with succes, and no need to change bootmenus

I flashed stock full sbf 2.2.2
Rooted using superoneclick
Installed scndInitvs2.0 which gave an option of installing either 0.6.5 or 1.0.7 bootmenu. So chose 1.0.7
Rebooted a couple of times.
Did factory reset , cleared cache and cleared dalvik cache in that order.
applied 12-07 CM9 zip
and rebooted
but my phone is stuck on the M logo!
Thanks! As I want to try the Dec. 7 nightly just for testing purposes. Thanks again!

I have done as that, but now the problem is cm9 has no signal in this way
I'm have not tried to flash cm9 coming from miui.
I just did the usual way, wipe everything and then instal .zip from SD.
If you want to instal builds, newer than 111207 you need to flash 111207 first.
hope this helped, greetz Esok
edit: I also had problems with the net while using multiboot.
Newer builds 111207 cant be used with multiboot. But in my opinion 111211 is good enough to use everyday
First, I'm sorry about my bad English.
I had troble when I applied CM9 12/7 Rom, so I restored from clockworkmod recovery, but it doesn't work!
That's why I have been flashed SBFs till now.
And I could boot my defy, but I noticed that I applied some weird Rom.
It is

I want to use CM7/MIUI or some other roms
Help me.

i didn't try it, just found it in the forum
im on the same boat.
did it work?
Look in the cm9 bug report thread I'm sure there are links and instructions for it. You have to flash cm7 kernel then do nandroid or reflash cm7.

im currentliy switching a lot between cm9 and cm7 so you should just go into cwm and wipe everything, install cm7 wipe again and thats it...
i dont know if you really have to wiupe twice, but thats the way i do it and it works perfectly

please post a link to the cm7 you were using. i'm thinking you used the wrong gapps. cm9's gapps doesn't work for cm7. you need to use the gapps for cm7. usually you can get cm7 gapps from the link in the first post of cm7 thread. like here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654
go down to the bottom of the first post and click on "latest google apps".
After intalling CM10 by tezet, I find that I still prefer the CM7 by tezet. So I decide to install CM7 instead CM10. But when I installed CM10, I installed kernel-milestone2-cn-2.3.4-4.5.3.
So my question is that whether I need install kernel-milestone2-uk_2.2.1-froyo before installing CM7?
Thanks in advance.
same question here hope some one could shed some light.
before i went to cm10 i was on stock froyo though 2.2.
You should be able to flash CM7 with that chinese kernel you flashed, just remember to do a full backup and full wipe, you're downgrading.
Get the 2.2.1 UK kernel and put it in your SD card, just in case something goes wrong even if you get into bootloops you should be able to get to the bootmenu.
If you still cannot get into bootmenu, recover your phone with an SBF.
Good luck

Yes, you need to instal this kernel, else you stuck on boot logo. It looks like new CM7 builds doesn't contains kernel.

although someone has answered you question,I wanna answer that again.
Yes,you mus install it before installing CM7.Kernel is most important. The whole system is complied with special kernel Version.

I didn't include kernel not on purpose Will fix this next time...
I'm with the same question so correct me if i'm wrong,
For all who want to downgrade from cm10 to cm7 and are using CH-GB kernel have to:
1 - flash Froyo Kernel
2 - flash latest cm7
3 - install gapps
My question is, can I install this kernel by "install from zip" mode?
