WP7 SD Build? - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

I am currently running a NAND Android build on my HD2.
I want to test out WP7. Is there a SD card build for WP7 instead? I don't want to erase my current NAND Android build, so is there a way to run WP7 from SD card instead?

nope, not yet, and in my opinion not very likely either

Seriously, you're not currently missing much, just stick with Android until the numerous WP7 issues on the Leo are fixed. Don't hold your breath though, there hasn't been much in the way of fixes since DFT released the original rom nearly three months ago. For example, multitouch (or the lack of it) is a major dealbreaker for me.

Isn't the multitouch a HW limitation? i expect to ever see that working correctly...

its unlikey that there will be any fixes for anything, and to be honest its not an issue anyway, multi touch works fine, you just have to adapt a little.
I used WM then moved to Android for my social dealings and finally ive moved to a 100% WP device and you cant pay me to move back, wp is a rock solid OS that works well, I used to mod the crap out of WM and droid OSs now i really dont feel the need to and i dont miss not being able to do it either, its very odd to start with but a couple of weeks later and im converted!

Gotta agree with Dazza. I've used it exclusivley for three months now. It is nearly flawless. There are a few points where I know I am hitting limitations due to the hack (Multi touch works, just not flawlessly). but these are no more, in fact less so than the flaws I always seemed to hit running android and there is no comparison to old WM builds. Even with the awesome ROM's that were available towards the end.
Even without NoDo or Mango, even with multi touch that will never be more than 2 point and sometimes be slower to respond then I would like, this will see me through to my next upgrade when I'll get whatever the latest WP7 iron is and my HD2 will be nailed to my wall in homage to the most ground breaking phone I can remember. even 2 years later it's versatility keeps it in the game!

It technically is and isn't. HTC says that the HD2 can support more than 2 point multitouch, but the software limits it to 2. But that is for Windows Mobile 6.5! So, in theory, it can be fixed, but the process to do so is not worth it.
And if you really want to, you can run NAND Windows Phone 7 and SD Android together

Works fine? No it doesn't. You have to press your fingers on the screen at exactly the same time for it to be recognised. This makes playing multitouch games almost impossible and makes other multitouch features within the OS (browsing and photo viewing for example) a chore at best.
Still, if you're happy with it that's all that matters.

HTC doesn't say it supports for the 2-point multitouch. One random customer service person that works at HTC who probably didn't know what they were talking about doesn't count as HTC saying that.
Every dev that has worked on the touch screen or drivers for it have said its a hardware limitation of 2 point... and it's not even true, full 2point touch... that touch sensor was actually only designed to do pinch to zoom, but the clever devs were able to write drivers that allow us as close to real 2point multitouch we'll get on the HD2. But there's the problem of if your 2 fingers get close to the same axis line, it will register them as on the same line. That happens with our touch screen because it was designed for only pinch to zoom type multitouch originally.

thats very much open to ones needs, I dont really play games so for me, once you adapt your fingers to hit at the same time there isnt an issue.

Too much hatin' going on here... or should I say pessimism?
Everyone just remember how TERRIBLE android was when it was first ported to the HD2. As for WP7, the first build I tried after 3 months is almost FLAWLESS. It is so fast, smooth, you can get Live services running in a few moments with just a few tweaks AND you can dual boot with Android. I see WP7 improvements on the horizon.

im glade you do, i dont, but o be honest there is very little id want changed, bar wp7 updates, actual hd2 compatibility updates are unlikely to change in the near future

Thanks for the reply guys. I upgraded to Gingerbread and find it very stable with improved performance. I am no longer interested in WP7...

Good for you, OP. I used WP7 for a few weeks, but it was too slow, ate too much of my battery even on standby, had no decent free nav, had few decent apps that I needed, was horribly hamstrung, and offered an abominable web surfing experience. On the positive side, it was smooth as silk and the boot time was amazing.
I think it still has potential, but I'll wait for WP7.9 or whatever they'll call it. I live in the present and I can't waste time using an OS because of what I think it can be in the future.

I couldn't be bothered so much about multitouch, my Android has a that irritating zoom in icon on the web and pics anyway, I want to try WP7 but switch back to a NAND Droid when I feel like it. So seriously a WP7 SD version would take the cake.

or you can back up your android ROM via CWM, so when you want to go back to Android after you check out WP7 you can just restore your nand droid via cwm in like 5 minutes.

Considering dumping my HD2... bad idea?

I picked up my HD2 almost a week ago, and while at first I was quite pleased, I'm already sick of WM 6.5's buggyness. I did some tweaks to try and improve performance, but without success. I'm still forced to restart my device a few times a day, still getting poor reception, and pretty lame battery life to boot. I'm fairly certain this is mostly due to WM, as the HD2's specs are top notch, and similar handsets running Android are highly acclaimed. To make matters worse, its not likely I'll ever see Android or even WP7 on this device anytime soon, if at all.
So, I now find myself ready to return my HD2 for the MyTouch Slide on Wednesday. Even though it's a pretty large step down in the hardware department, reviews have stated that it's surprisingly responsive. Is there any reason I should stick with the HD2, other than the slight possibility of Android or WP7 and the l33tn3ss of it? I really want to like this phone, but I can't stand all the issues I'm having with WM 6.5. I'm currently running the latest stock ROM, with CHT and minimal apps installed, fwiw.
1st question, do you truly close your programs? Or do they boil and grow in the background? This is likely to be the number cause of your problems.
Also, try using the phone without Sense and see if it gets better for you. Either stick to Titanium or SPB Mobile Shell. I personally use Mobile Shell since I had the phone (played with Sense for 10 minutes and found it impractical for daily use).
Not a single hiccup AT ALL. So.....good luck to you in your decision, but just try my suggestions first.

I hate reading messages like this.
When I first got my HD2 I was very happy with it. I kept it stock for a few weeks, even though I knew that the crashes could be fixed with a change in ROMs.
I don't know why HTC, T-Mobile and Microsoft would release something that clearly has not been field tested in "normal" conditions the way Apple does (see Gizmodo for details on real-world testing of Apple products prior to release).
The good news is that I am now running a great ROM that hasn't crashed on me in over 2 weeks. Not a single crash. I've never had a phone this stable! (See my sig for links)
The bad news is that I had to install a third-party ROM in order to have a useable phone. $500 is a lot of money and it's ridiculous that we have to turn to these boards to get our babies working correctly.
This is the way I feel:
If you want a phone that works 100% the way you want it out of the box, return your HD2 and keep shopping. The phone is waaay too expensive to keep just because it's the latest thing.
If you want an awesome phone that works the way you want it to and don't mind risking your warranty, I'd suggest flashing HSPL and testing some ROMs out. There are some great ROMs here that are so much faster, cleaner, better-looking and more stable than anything you will find on the shelves at T-Mobile. Just remember to tip your chef if you find a ROM that works perfectly on your rig
Thanks for the suggestions!
I actually do make sure to close all my apps when I'm done with them (even keep Task Manager on the first page.) Even with nothing besides Activesync open, I commonly get an error from Opera that "a critical component is missing."
Another bug that really pisses me off, is that when I'm browsing Opera in landscape mode and lock the screen, the lockscreen appears in landscape, and I cannot open it.
I'm mostly disappointed with the fact that this device has some of the most advanced hardware available, and yet it still lags out of the box. Watching videos of the MyTouch Slide running Expresso, I noticed that it is very fast and responsive, despite having much less horsepower under the hood. I really don't want to be forced to disable all of the eye candy or void the warranty installing custom ROMs just to get this "superphone" to run smoothly. On top of all that, it's still unclear if any better OS will be available on this device, either from the manufacturer or the devs here.
Why can't T-Mobile just release their upcoming "Project Emerald" already?

Have you upgraded to opera 10 yet? because I don't get any problems with it. I don't care for the pinch and zoom feature, so that was not a problem for me to upgrade to it. Also the UI is better looking to me and feels more like a desktop.
try opera mini 5. much faster than opera 10 or even opera 9 that comes preinstalled with the phone.
on top of that, why downgrade to the slide? have you tried flashing a custom rom to the hd2?
i know the slide may seem more responsive but please don't judge it by watching 5 minute video. i bet that phone would experience some kind of lag after a week of use. Espresso Sense UI on that slide also hogs a bunch of memory as our own Sense UI for the HD2.
But if you're still thinking of ditching the HD2 for another T-Mobile compatible phone, I'd get the Nexus one instead. It has the same snapdragon processor not to mention it does not have SENSE to slow it down at all. Completely stock android OS.
I really don't understand this "buggyness" that people have with WM6.5 I dont have any issues with WM6.5 the only issues i notice is the HTC sense messaging lag, and the lag that the HTC Peep app creates every time it updates. I had to turn off auto updating on HTC Peep cause that got so annoying.
Some 3rd party apps are particularly bad, I think the worst i have loaded right now is the Win Mobile Foursquare app from Touchality, bloated buggy POS but its the only option on WinMO at the moment
Basically all the issues with WinMo are 3rd party programs which are likely going to cause trouble on any platform, except for the one that doesn't allow real multitasking.
1. all devices come with bugs and problems
2. all snapdragon drains your battery like crazy same with the Evo.What do you expect from a 4.3 inch screen
3. In my case their times an app its the reason for my phone crashing example motweets it slow the crap out of my hd2 it took 10 minutes to remove. putting flash on opera also a few time it crash my browser.
4. for most issues theirs solutions. my advice its to call t-mobile and tell them your phone its crashing alot and tell them you want a replacement and see if that works out for you. if it doesnt sell it if your unhappy.
Thanks again for all the replies, I definitely appreciate the input. It's nice that people are actually discussing the issues instead of simply bashing one phone and praising another.
I installed Opera 10 immediately after getting my HD2, which is the version that keeps crashing/freezing my device. I will try installing Opera Mini 5 and see how that fares, fingers crossed!
I'm also going to flash a custom ROM to my device, and see if that makes things run smoother. Right now I'm thinking the LIA ROM, I just hope it performs as good as it looks.
The reason I'm kinda pressed to make a decision, is because I'm still within my buyer's remorse period, and can return my HD2 if I'm unhappy with it. The next best thing would be the MyTouch Slide, or the Nexus 1 (which is quite a bit more expensive, and I would have to wait for it to ship.) This really doesn't leave me with much in the way of options, at least for now, which is making this decision much harder. If I do end up returning my HD2, I might just use my old RAZR for a bit, and check out "Project Emerald" in the near future. I'm really hoping more info on this gets leaked before my BR period is up.
I felt the same as you after a week or two into it. Crashes, freezes, hiccups, etc...
After installing the latest T-MO ROM Update, along with a few tweaks like Dutty's Task mgr and Cookie's Home Tab editor, CleanRam, too. No lockups for over a week.
I was super close to selling this and getting an N1. But now it's smoothing out for me.
Joe
I just got the phone today and have already had a few issues. I know part of it is just do to the fact that I'm not used to it. I hope I can work out some of these bugs. I agree that we shouldn't have to go through these lengths just to get a phone that "just works", but after all the research I did it seems like in the end it will be worth it to have a phone that doesn't have the limits that certain other phones do. I will however be playing with a mytouch slide demo unit when I can just to see how it goes. Initial reviews seem surprisingly good.

I agree, try the nexus 1 out!! I am half tempted to get it myself!!
I took the plunge and did it. I kept having issues with the HD2's sound switching to the earpiece (including when the phone rings, playing transformers, etc.). Because it was brand new, I took it back to get it exchanged. They said they didn't have any more and I'd have to wait for a replacement, so I said **** it and got the mytouch slide. I'm liking it a lot so far. It's very snappy, zippy, cool UI, good keyboard. I think I'll be happy with my choice. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

If you have loaded android on HD2...did you like it better than WinMo?

I know it has its imperfections...I played with a droid a little while back and liked the widget aspect...but is it worth even trying to see how the hd2 works with it.?
are you serious?!
ok, may be you're really not knowing better. let's grab your own words first, widgets, or better applikations in generell. every of them I tested myself so far(and those were legions... = ) ran smoove, fast und didn't ever influence any other part of the system in performance and stability in a negative way.
more, the android apps in the first place show the potential of our favorite device.
everything I used in WM, I now have a notch enough better and, that's the best, I got 1000x more ; ), 1000x more style, 1000x more flow, 1000x more effectivity
and I never need cosmetics like sense anymore
and by the way, a freeze a day, that's yesterday. if android reboots, I tell him before
it's worth it, it solves it!
I think touch Flo is great and without it winmo would have been hell. However imho android is in a different league in terms of apps, ease of use and eye candy.

yes, junior, I am being serious---as I have been Sense all since the beginnings...thanks for your 2 cents...I'll take a dive and check it out.
I still enjoy using WinMo, but I can't deny how great Android is. It meets all of my expectations and without all of the tweaking that had to be done in WinMo.
Sense UI ontop of 6.5.x kept the system modern, but it wasn't enough for me. I bought the HD2 because I wanted the top of the line WinMo phone. Now I have the top of the line WinMo and Android phone bundled together. Sad to say it, but once WiFi tether is up and running I will completely phase out anything but Android. The underlying core is as important as the clothes you put on it.

Give it a try, you wont be disappointed. I wasnt a WinMo user, I have had Androids since the G1 came out, Blackberry devices prior to that, matter of fact I had pre-ordered my G1. After the G1 I went to the Nexus when it came out, but was keeping a close eye on the HD2 progress as I really liked the phone but really disliked WinMo lol, anyways, I sold my nexus and got a netbook and a HD2 for what I sold my Nexus for..cant beat that.
Android on the HD2 is not as fluent as my Nexus was but its pretty close. If you like WinMo then give Android a shot, its so much more. It has apps for just about everything you could think of and a great majority of them are free or a buck or two.
The ecosystem of Android offers so much over that of WinMo, first off Microsoft has all but forgotten the existence of anything related to 6.5 and has moved on to 7, with that so have most of your developers. The HD2 with WinMo is all but dead, yet its still a decent phone..breathe some life into it and see what that little green robot can do for you
I have been an Android user since Late 2008. I was an early adopter with the G1. And i used my G1 up until I bought my HD2, and the only reason i purchased it was because i wanted to take a gamble to see if the devs could get android running on it.
Look at the progress that they have gotten done on it. Big props to them. If you lived anywhere near me, i would take you out for many beers.
Touchflo was fine, as long as you have never used android before. which a lot of people who were only winmo users are starting to figure out.
Open Source FTMFW
Dual Boot Preference
I have been an avid WinMo user since the Wing all the way up to the HD2. I will say since the Android platform has been ported onto the HD2 hardware I have been thoroughly impressed with Android and more disinterested in WinMo. My only issue with the dual boot is that if Android fails I cannot reboot back into it without a "root.fs" failure. Which means I have to delete all trace files on my sd card and start all over. Can someone please let me know what I am doing wrong and PM me because I may not get to read your post in time.
Thx - New Android Converter
I use Android on my HD2 since the first release.
I couldn't go back to sense/winmo.
It's like I had a new phone ^^
The early releases freezed, chrashed, but *the late ones are right for daily usage.
(just use the right light winmo rom, the right radio, and disable the g-sensor)
The only sad part is, you'll need to boot on winmo to access your SD and copy files.
Well, for now 'till it's fixed
Android is so... ... I can't describe it, try it
I was days, if not hours away from selling my HD2 cause i was bored of WM, i had tried every ROM out there, and sure it's a great phone as is. But for me i needed something more. Now that i have android on my device, IMHO I have the best device on the market. Period. It is EXACTLY what i was looking for in a phone. I can even go back into windows if i need something.
I will always keep winmo as the booting OS but do like the android sense build, if it ran in the same way on winmo I probably wouldn't even use android, but the widgets, speed and ease of use is a winner. I feel though, that sense in winmo looks much more polished (visually) than it does in android.
I am amazed at the amount of people who speak of polish when It comes to android. Sense does look nice on Winmo but thats only a cover for a really old and ugly interface. With android the sense ui is weaved into the Os. We may not have the pretty Icons or th 18 so called useful screens But I didnt use half of those screens.
A Twitter home screen is no match for a twitter widget.
A Music widget is no match for the music home screen. Though cht does help with that.
I only need a few home screens because android makes such good use of its space with widgets and such.
Overall I think im just use to sense on android. I was completely disappointed with Winmo sense.
To each their own. Both do the job well for certain people. I personally dont need exchange or calender sync
Btw I'm running shu8icraft 1.4c along with a june 11 energy rom.
radio 2.10 t-mo us (underclocked at 652mhz)
I've been a WIM user for years, absolutely loved Sense, and felt loyal to WM -but after less than 20 hours on Android I'm not going back. Microsoft has completely lost me as a user

i do agree how Android has more eye candy yet still runs smoother than WM.
I do love Sense UI(and Android comes with it to on some builds) but even WM with Sense is still being ran by an out of date, sluggish OS
In windows mobile the sense graphics and overall snappiness still impresses me. Beyond that it is clunky, ugly and feels generally old. Android is just plain intuitive. It puts all the settings in the right place and spells out what everything does for you. Notifications are handled better and everything just feels like the people who created it put thought into it. Finally the apps are the icing on the cake. The android market is in full gear while WM development is on its last legs.
Well...I tried it, and went back to winmo...(did it with Energy's Android ROM)---I reloaded the previous Sense rom, and even after deleting all Android aspects of the rom, I am now plagued with problems such as:
1. Programs (file explorer, for example) not working with storage card inserted
2. sprite and pim backup fail
3. soft resets only successful if storage card is not inserted
4. Black screen of death upon going into standby mode---
did I miss something? I already reflashed twice!
I love the fact that when all of us were buying HD2 - others were saying why buy HD2 when it's outdated already cuz of WinMo 6.5... But now, nowhere to be found are peeps who were saying those things to us ... running WinMo, geting bored, switching over to Android - simply the BEAUTY!!!
I use WinMo as primary OS until it is figured out how to improve battery life - but still here and there I run Android for 2-3 days - just for fun of getting my hands on Apps

When i have removed android I never suffered any of the ill effects. Android doesnt touch the winmo files so why would it cause these things not to work.
Sounds like typical winmo stuff to me.
Did you task 29 and do a format of the sdcard.
Have to say, all the Android builds i have tried just cant match up to a speedy custom ROM on Winmo.
A good custom ROM imo is snappier, quicker and much less likely to freeze randomly.
I need to use my HD2 daily and need it to work 100% of the time - so at the moment im sticking with winmo.
Actually, I have fewer problems with Android froyostone v1 than WinMo; I find it more stable than Miri/Steve GTX (one before latest ROM) which is pretty darn stable! Had Android running for 3 days so far with no need of a reboot...that doesn't happen with WinMo. Slightly annoying that headsets (I know they work on other builds but sticking with froyostone for now) and wifi tethering doesn't work--but I am sure they will soon!

Have to say, all the Android builds i have tried just cant match up to a speedy custom ROM on Winmo.
A good custom ROM imo is snappier, quicker and much less likely to freeze randomly.

Are u guys still keeping WP7?

Are u guys still running WM7 or jumped back to android ?
Is there a option to run WM7 and android form SD card or sld I still wait to flash WM7 ?
Keeping WP7 For now - i am not sure about anyone else but i find it to be more stable compared to the android builds etc in terms of functionality and stuff - Far as running WP7 and android from sd card at the same time is concerned, i think that is not a possibility for now with the way WP7 uses the sd card upon installation -

Not now, will keep using WP7 for while. For me, i like android more than WP7. Android can do more stuff for me than WP7. Movie playback on Android is the best, no need to do any converting to the right format.
Yeah, I'm still sticking with it.. at least for now. Having fun exploring the market and I just love the smoothness of the UI
Well, about the dual boot thing, some folks already posted about it. Here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
I personally doesn't like the idea of partitioning my beloved android sd card so I bought a new one to use with the WP7.
Will test it out for at least another week. I was running MIUI Android build from SD and it was next to perfect, switch to Android on NAND and it's been hit in miss (not that fast or stable as the SD versions)
But to cut the story short I'm keeping WP7 for now the only issues right now is the sound is way to loud, lack of apps (if you think is bad on Android its even worse on WP7 ) and the touchscreen still has issues.
all what i should say is that hd2 is a windows phone
it feels like the hd2 came home with WP7, so i'm staying for now
i will def stay with windows 7, i was a big android fan, but ever snice they ported windows 7 i fell in love with this OS.
Im going to be staying WP7 - it's works absolutely perfectly, i get no data drops, no screen freezes, and i just love the UI... sticking with it
will be going back to android tomorrow. i absolutely dislike the iphone-like OS restrictions in wp7. also, where can i turn off all those annoying animations?waiting for the animation to end when clicking something isn't much different from a lag.
ui is okay, but tbh adw launcher EX on android is better.
overall wp7 isn't as bad as i thought, but i'd prefer an open system any day.
MS really screwed up, winMO's advantage always was the open system. now android took that place, so i'll stick with it.
even a battery widget with % display is IMPOSSIBLE on wp7 because of restrictions. thats HILARIOUS..
i am not sure...wp 7 is great, runs smoth but i dont like the locked down **** (zune/no mass storage, no myphone/backup function yadayada) and i miss one important free application for me (live soccer scores for the second german bundesliga).
For the moment i will stay with wp7, cause of smooth running...maybe i will go back to win mobile....android has more disadvantages for me than the two windows versions (especially in contacts management).
When i first booted up wp7 and tried to setup/transfer files i was sure i will move back to android in less than an hour. the OS is extremely restricted.
Now im using it two days because of the smooth inverface and no time to flash. Im sure I will flash back to Android tomorrow
I'll stick with WP7 for at least a week or so, Give devs a chance to work a little magic with Roms
I love to way WP7 runs, like it was meant for this device... but I love the complete freedom of Android.
I'm most impressed by the boot time, its crazy compared to Android.
Already back to android and happy with it. For now it suits better my needs.

I'm going to keep WP7 until Monday to show the guys at work who are interested in getting WP7 phones, them I'm straight back to Android. WP7 is worse than the iPhone.
I'm totally blinded from this smoothness of WP7.
I love the UI, especially the contacts-hub with facebook-updates and the ui-colors I can set.
Just when I think I now know every app at the marketplace, I still find one that is interesting
The boot time is excellent too.
The only things someone has to change for me, is the missing camera-autofocus, the loud speaker and the terrible battery life (lasts about half of a day with radio 2.15.50.14 and 1-2 hours of wifi, some downloads and textmessages).
I'll leave it for a while.
I'm sticking with it, everything it does it does really well. The keyboard is the best I've used by far!
I have to complete ilomilo too!
Pros...
best keyboard I have used.
data connection like stock winmo
email and msging interface is good
Plays YouTube very nicely
Interface is very smooth.
Cons..
really hate UI restrictions..
reminds more of IPhone
dislike the home screen
marketplace is bad..i mean interface
battery drained in 4 hours
In nutshell..yes back to mdj 2.4 band android tomorrow
Nice while it lasted..by the way spent 3 hours to install it and getting the activation code working
will i keep windows phone 7 on my HD2 ?
Ohh man ... i must say ... seeing windows phone on my HD2 really convinced me that this phone is a wonder in a lot of ways... just see how many OS flavours you have!
I craved windows phone since i seen it for the first time months ago ... will be keeping this one on this phone ... it just works as you like!
As the devs @ Microsoft said, it's really a deferent kind of phone!
Still using it since it was first leaked. Very nice and smooth, although i do miss android i think ill be keeping this since it is much more stable!

I personally think its very unlikely you will get any fix, the reason being, we are not ment to have this on our devices, we have slight differences to our phones that will complicate things. Multitouch its self is very different on teh HD2, being only 2 fingers.
WP7 isnt like WM, as it stands you cant chop and change ROMS, to make newer/more stable ones

Not sure the hd2 will ever have more than 2 point multitouch, its a hardware issue, the wp7 phones all have at least 4 point multitouch.

ir's not 4 point we're going for, it's stable working 2 point that we want. By the time 4 point is actually useful and common, all of the current WP7 devices will have obsolete hardware anyways

On Android 4 points multitouch works great, the tehnology is a little old but it works, just needs a right driver or some patch for WP7))
Its just a meter of time))

yes and who is going to develope and release a driver for an old device that isnt even supposed to have WP7 on it?
at the very best, we can get a driver that is pretty much compatible with our device but since its not for our device we cant expect it to work properly.

The digitizer itself is limited to two point multi-touch. Its a hardware limitation not a software one, and it isn't anything that can be patched with a driver.
No, the two point multi-touch is software limited. See this post:

Is it possible to make a new driver for WP7 on the HD2?

Did you actually read that post? The proof in that post is the word of some random customer service rep. While every actual developer who has worked with the HD2 touchscreen, including cotulla, who wrote the drivers for android port, have said that they are sure that it's a hardware limitation of 2 point multitouch.
Ok, sry. I just took a quick look at it, but anyways, the driver for WP7 is a bit buggy when using 2 fingers.
On my device it often jumps back and forth...
I find it truly amazing anyone would be interested in WP7 on the HD2 without a usable multitouch at least partly working. Having to press both fingers on the screen at exactly the same time makes playing even the most simple multitouch games almost impossible and even browsing and photo viewing becomes a chore. Then you have current fundamental omissions like copy/paste and you are left with a phone operating system which is little more than a joke when used on the Leo.
Still, each to their own but if you like the interface that much just use Launcher 7 on Android.
^Why are you here? Just looking for an opportunity to slate wp7?^
No, I'm discussing the subject at hand, which is multitouch and WP7's lack of it when run on the Leo.
Hope that helps.

multitouch works ok in many games and apps I think... I'll have to do some testing to make sure, but I thought it was only when trying to pinch to zoom that you had to get both fingers on screen at once. The multitouch on the HD2 doesn't really ruin much on WP7... I usually don't notice. But maybe I'm just not trying enough apps.

WP7 is better than I expected.

Just tried the XBmod of WP7.
WP7 is much better than I expected microsoft did a good job this time around. Albeit I'm much to used to android to keep it on my HD2 but come upgrade time I may just get a Wp7 device.
keep your hd2, a handset cldnt get better than this, wp7 and android running along and that too with quite stability
dont forget to appreciate the developers whenever u can
why better? give some examples... I'm just thinking about change into wp7...

not better than say android... But a surprising treat...
I don't know what to day about it.
The ui is just fun to use. The XBmod I used ran smooth as silk (similar to iphone smoothness). I like the messaging app. I didn't call microsoft for an activation code so I didn't get to try all the other great features although I'm sure it would have been worth the hassle

Surprising, indeed. I used WP7 for a couple of months, everything fine. However, I missed the tweaking and modding - but I don´t like Android either. So I´m back to Windows Mobile/Sense...
WP7, imho, is far better than most reviews. Its completely new approach has its advantages; it´s fast and smooth.
At the end, it´s maybe a little too "simple" in the design. I think many people like all those fancy little icons on their smartphones, especially iOS users.
Oh, before I forget: One of the functions of WP7 is the integrated voice recognition/control. It works far better than anything else I ever tried before.

Agree about the UI being fun to use. Very user friendly and fast fast fast. I did activate live services and while the app selection is not that great at the moment, the marketplace is very nice although a little convoluted when looking for apps. I'm currently dual booting Xbmod's build (v.1.11) and AmeriCanAndroid (which I usually use) but I'm holding out for the Mango update and hopefully that'll bring on some cool new apps and features so I can switch between the two without losing data. My biggest gripe is lack of apps. If I could somehow integrate my texts/call log between the two OSs, It would be a tough choice which one to run more.
I am a former iPhone user (2G one only) and I gotta say I thought I would miss it, but my HD2 is miles and miles better

does your led has an alternating sequence of red and green when plugged in??
if yes: then check the temperature of the phone,if its high, wait for it to cool down and then plug it in again(try switchin it off for cooling it down)
red green sequence means ur phone has overheated(yes its a bug) and as a risk of damage to battery, wp7 refuses to recharge it
(thanks to the developers )
hope i helped ya

I don't miss the tweaking and modding....and it's for a reason. With android i was constantly occupied with modding. With WP7 you can't tweak.....but you don't need to either. The UI works perfectly to begin with. The UI is designed to access basic functionality fast....phone, mail and messaging. Off course not everything is good, for example....i miss vibration feedback from the keyboard. The keyboard could have been larger as well.
WP7 doesn't have as many apps as android...but i only use flickr, facebook and twitter so i don't care.
If you're not changing to WP7 now....i would definitely give it a try as soon as mango is launched.
I agree. I was one of the loudest when it came to trashing WP7, when I hadn't even tried it, lol! Now I wouldn't use any other OS. Will definitely be getting a native WP7 come upgrade time. It's such an easy, smooth, & very reliable OS.

well there are two things you can do:
1.charge ONLY when its not hot,and try to remove and plug in the charger again.see if the continuous red light comes on(that means it charging, till its heat up again)
2.dual boot android and wp7 and charge in the android mode(its the best)
try Yuki's ROM,it heats up the least for me

No, haret doesn't run on WP7. You use MAGLDR to launch either. Follow this thread EXACTLY. When I say exactly, do not deviate one step. I did and it caused me hours of frustration:

You're going to have to switch to an SD rom of Android though, unless you use Portadroid to run your NexusHD2 ROM (but as far as I know, I think some of the NANDroid ROMs are a bit unstable using portadroid)

Same for me, need something solid for work and WP& is it. Running 3 echange accounts and a hotmail no prob, and stability probs and need for any mods, just works. Just what i need.
