I have 2 requests. and i will pay a bounty on these. Name your price(be reasonable im the only one paying you) (open to making one reasonable large payment and the several smaller ones over the year as i know this will require a lot of work)
I am involved in a volunteer work with the deaf and hard of hearing, so i use my phone a lot to show videos and various other things. so i need it to be fully functional for all of this.
1st) There is an app on the itunes app store called cienega, I need this app stable on android or one that does the same thing. this will not be for just me but will actually get downloaded by hundreds of people, potentially thousands.
2nd) if anyone that can mod a video player either the stock or get the vlc player to work on a mobile device that will recognize chapter markers embedded in a video file. I have sample videos to work with so you can see what im trying to acheive.
My time is too occupied to focus enough on it to get it done. especially in a timely manner. Im willing to Pay $50 up front and work out whatever else we need to, to make it happen. please pm me here if you are interested. only serious legitimate developers need pm me. no novice or hey ill give it a shot kind of people, show me what youve done before, before you start trying to get me to pay you.

No offense but no developer is going to do this type of work for $50. That'd get you like an hours of work for a lousy developer.
He didn't say he would only pay 50 bucks....
This is why I only want smart people and not you, I don't have the time right now or I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself, and since I'm well aware of how much time it would take its only $50 to sign you on the rest of the payment we would work out that's just for starting, so like I said only smart people need apply and pm me please

Oh really? Your perfectly capable, huh? So do it. I work in that type of industry (digital media/development), and I gave you a serious reply. That's a lot of work for very little, and to me your post struck me as demanding and out of touch with how much work this would really be.

$50 bucks upfront for an app does sound a little ridiculous. My buddy at work has a small business on the side and he contacted this group of 3 to design his app; they told him it could cost around 150 bucks an hour and range any where from 5,000 to 15,000 to put it in the market/app store. So if you're "capable" I would say good luck these kind of things take time and money. I could see why these guys are kind of laughing at the whole $50 to start no offense. Before any one ports that app from app store you would have to contact the company first you don't want to use people things without permission you could get sued lol. Why don't you contact them and ask do they plan on coming to android market. Either way you're going to cough up more than $50 up front.
As far as your video player that marks/reads chapters you should try "Vplayer".

Touché!!!
I like how everybody is missing that 50 is just for agreeing to do this, that's all I pay you 50 just for saying yes. Then you get paid the real money, and then there's the I don't have time factor. Can all the annoying people please stop talking if you aren't interested or don't know how to help please kindly move on and don't say anything. If you can't figure out that I'm willing to pay 50 just for a yes. 1 word $50. Then pay to work. Can't understand that then you aren't smart enough for what I need

Classic. That's probably the most accurate representation of how this will all work out.
They have already announced they are working on it. Give them time. Its almost like bugging a dev here on a release date.
As for moto, I don't believe they are under any agreements saying they have to do a damn thing for us.
I for one would love to flash something nice onto this thing, but coming across as whiney children, which many do will not help. Go through the proper channels if you must, but stop the temper tantrums people are throwing over it

These aren't temper tantrums they're a form of protest. Corporate america doesn't budge or give in unless they get enough bad publicity. Doing something to draw attention to them then explaining why is better than just sitting back with our fingers crossed hoping that they one day they'll open up the bootloader. That's pretty much the point we're all trying to get across.

You aren't entitled to an answer. You bought the phone knowing what you were getting into, and now it's not how you want it, when you want it, and you're going to get upset about it? Stop acting like you're entitled to any of this. Motorola doesn't owe you a damn thing.

Going through the proper channels such as the press is an excellent way of getting the attention the problem deserves, but the OP is going about it wrong. Flooding their twitter accounts, and being annoying as he describes is indeed a temper tantrum and will solve nothing especially when they are already working on a solution.
If you want to get it resolved, just like in life, you need to work with the other party instead of working against them. Annoying them is not working with them at all.

I officially give up in the vibrant. It seems like the big devs gave up due to Samsung fail. I enjoyed the run tho. Will soon be switching to AT&T when they get a phone equal to the EVO 3D or just a Dual Core HTC phone...preferably with a ffc. If AT&T doesn't come thru, EVO 3D it is. No more Samsung phones for me. I learned my lesson with this one

1.) This is vibrant general. So that's why I have to derail u on the "wrong section" tone that u have. That's what they made general for.
2.) I am unsatisfied with the hardware defects this phone has as well as tmobiles service. How do u pay the same amount as someone with 4G when u only get GPRS.
3.) I've had a better experience with HTC phones due to exclusive CM dev support for my phone as well as other HTC phones. Honestly it doesn't take a whole bunch of lag fixes to get it running likebits supposed to. My mytouch 3g w/ cm5 oc at 574mhz didnt lag like this phone. Don't get me wrong, this is a sexxy ass phone but not happy with it no more

youre not going to win this battle.....this is going to sound rude, but i speak the truth: no one cares if youre giving up your vibrant. just like no one would care if I gave up MY vibrant.
this thread is useless....its almost flame-bait. what was your purpose behind starting this?? to gain an anti-vibrant following in the Vibrant General section? To send a subliminal message to the devs that they are not producing up to your standards??
it must have been something along those lines, because you starting a thread "announcing" to everyone that youre giving up your Vibrant would be the equivalent of J.P. Arencibia holding a 1hr ESPN special announcing that hes retiring from baseball......how necessary would that be??
PS - "whos J.P. Arencibia?", you ask??? my point, exactly

I actually agree with TopShelf. If you want to leave, then leave. Even Eugene, who is one of the most influential devs for this phone, never bothered to create such a pointless thread. Most of us realize the power of the Vibrant with a few mods here and there, thanks to the wonderful devs that have acutally contributed to this community rather than ***** about it.
Just to say, if you want this thread to die, then don't post in it. This will surely be my last post in this thread.

I generally don't chime in, but if you gave up on the vibrant, that's your choice. We don't need a post about it though. If your running sammy software than you haven't unlocked the potential of the phone. I've run most of the mods available and most of them have made the phone 10x better than stock.
Cyanogenmod is a brand name. It isn't automatically the best. I just drove a 2200 mile trip. I have the vibrant running bionix with overstock (and I under clock it to 800 mhz because it's still perfectly smooth), and my wife had the g2 running cm7. Wanna know something? I could pick up 3g signals in places she could barely keep edge.
Vibrant for the win.
Goodbye to you.

Having been on XDA for a long time now I know that there are a vocal minority that will say "so what" to this post, but that's okay, I'm a happy camper today. The reason that I'm a happy camper is that when I got my Evo just about a year ago I didn't know anything about android. We had what seemed to be a 20 step root method using ADB that frankly scared the crap put of me when I tried it. It was nothing like using my old Mogul.
Today I was able to help 3 different people with problems. It was one of those good news / bad news situations. The bad news is that probably 90% of the folks here still know more about android than I ever will. The good news is that I'm now competent to help those other 10%!
I know, doesn't seem like much compared to out forum "greats," but 3 thanks from 3 different threads is a personal accomplishment for me.
Aha Congrats! I love helping people out although i don't know much as most people here in xda. Everyone learns one thread at a time!

I was the exact same way. I was a complete noob until I had CM7 running on my old Hero a few months ago (6 I think?) then I got the evo and since about 3 weeks ago, I started helping people out. I even made a perfected batch script that pulls apps from /data/app and for devs I made a /system pulling script.
Congrats man for being one of the good guys.
This is exactly the sort of thing that everyone on XDA should be all about. I've personally come a long way from mucking around with ADB to root my Hero and it's really nice to be able to help out every now and then.
Nothing wrong with taking pride in helping others! There are some things it's ok to be proud of, that's one of them! I, too, was a complete noob when I came from iPhone to EVO. At first i just read every thread that had an interest to me but soon i started to read questions and thing "Oh, i know that answer I had this problem already!" or maybe someone else had the problem and posted about it and I read that thread. Before long I was helping people fairly regularly, Up to 17 thanks so far which I know isn't that much but for me it is since i still really know very little about android. But remember it doesn't matter how little you know, as long as you share it!
Some of us remember well the days before internet came around. There were no communities like this. If you needed to know something and it wasn't in a book you owned you went to the library and spent all day looking it up! Now any 8 year old can google anything in 5 seconds. And with smartphones they can do it anywhere. Communities like this one are making sooo many things possible that just weren't before for most people, and people that are willing to help others are what makes it all possible!

Hey, that's what a community board is all about. Helping those that need help and getting help in return. At one point even the developers were "noobs". They had to start from scratch with only each others knowledge and a couple computers and phones. After years of giving each other a helping hand, they were able to crack every code all the manufacturers created to lock down the true potential of the phones and have made XDA the biggest and best. developers website there is today.

<edit> confirmed not working on CM7.
<edit 2> I also want to say I love how the OP started this thread when the dev himself admits it's not complete, and everyone is having major FC issues and whatnot when they flash it. Seems like someone just wanted to be in the "I posted it first" club!
OP should edit thread title to reflect that this is probably an early Alpha if we are lucky, and not working horizontal mirroring.

Just because you started this thread does not make it yours, nor give you the right to ask others to leave.

<edit 2> I also want to say I love how the OP started this thread when the dev himself admits it's not complete, and everyone is having major FC issues and whatnot when they flash it. Seems like someone just wanted to be in the "I posted it first" club!

It's not.
I've been on XDA a long time. Met some tremendous people here and have learned an incredible amount. A lot of us joined together and did something special (#NeverAgain).
In my time, a lot of things seem to have gone sour with XDA (not the people that use it).
The only downside here is that XDA is a force. Everyone uses it. Because of that, everyone gets treated the way XDA wants to treat you, not necessarily how they SHOULD be treated.
THE ONLY WAY FOR THERE TO BE CHANGE, IS ACTION.

EDIT. Could not find a way to delete my account. Someone can take care of that after this gets reported I assume.

I applaud your move. Yet as you probably know, you cannot boycott or even teach adults into morals and values. If they value fame, money, or prestige over behaving correctly, then nothing can change that now.
They will not understand what you are even talking about. They will only feel threatened and will either lash out or silence you.
Your message does have a chance to get others. What remains to be seen is whether or not then leaders of this forum will be cowardly and silence you by taking down this thread or will they leave it up for a chance at meaningful and productive dialogue so you can get your message out?
sorry to hear you're leaving too. xda is mess.
we've seen a bunch of devs leave here and and then eventually shutting down. guess they just lose the interest in time. but it was fun. thanks for keeping us informed on the root thread when all else failed.
I just welcomed you back. I appreciated your thread when I first came over to this forum. Hopefully they will keep it up. Maybe I'll start downloading everything I don't already have in case they do and I'll maintain it, if that is ok with you. Feel free to PM me with anything before you leave.
Peace and Chicken Grease
What exactly is the issue here I don't understand...

Not going to air it all out, but it's my personal opinion xda could be doing a heck of a lot more for the community it depends on.
Other sites seem to get it. That's where I hope people go.
Farewell old friend.

See you over on Rootz shame XDA has driven you away
I completely agree. This site makes a lot of money from its users. Its great when a site gives back.

I hear you bro -- but from an outsiders perspective, it sounds like you are taking something too seriously. I for a v brief time felt the way you did even, then I realized .. allowing a website to keep me from downloading files is short changing truly only me. Have no choice ~
#firstworldproblems
Seriously.. have you considered a tweet / pm / etc maybe that will get more of a message across. Nothing personal, just my .02
Happy crack flashing!

Wait a minute. You don't have to get ugly, but can you give some context? What is the issue?
