DL11 : Another victim of greed.

Someone has to have this in here.But since people got into fights over the dk05 leak, I think we are being punished by the devs we scolded. Well... Lesson learned. Now we are forced to wait for Sprint to give it to us next year by Christmas.

they dont have it...there isnt even a DL11 anymore...it DL19...read the post by whodamn before posting stupid ****

If DL11 even exists there is a reason we are not getting it for example it could brick ur phone or manger internet doesn't work so stop asking. when the time is right we will get our update so be patient.
THIS SHOULD BE IN GENERAL. Not that I really care but it reduces clutter in development.

Let's consider the possibilities:
1. Nobody on here has it
2. Somebody has it
I think it's #1, but let's assume it's #2. Since he/she hasn't released it, then one of the following is probably true:
1. He/she can't get it to work or it sucks.
2. He/she has it working and is putting it into a useful ROM for us to use.
3. He/she has it and is keeping it secret for some legitimate reason (like to protect someone's name hidden in the software).
4. He/she has it and is keeping it secret for spite.
I think #4 is highly unlikely, especially given the huge amount of praise that would be lavished upon him/her for being the first to release the leak.
The truth is that we have some pretty good froyo leaks right now. Since whatever Samsung/Sprint releases officially is likely to be the last thing we get from them for a long time, I'm hoping they keep it long enough to work out as many bugs as possible. The only thing we're waiting for is source code and improved stability. A leak wouldn't give us source code, and if DL11 was going to be released but got pulled, it's likely because of some stability/coding issues. If someone has DL11 and wants to release it into the wild, great, but it sounds like it didn't get all that far before being replaced, so I suspect nobody has it.

Xda is getting old. Feels like I'm back in high school. To many people whining about froyo. No one knows how to use the search button. No one appreciates the work people do and demand changes. I'm sick of repeating myself cause retards don't know how to read. Mods never around and when they show up the come riding in on a high horse. I'm sure theres other reasons I'm forgetting but don't really care.
This site started off as a hobbie and became a constant headache. I have a life outside of here unlike some members and its time I start to live it again.

Count me in, XDA is like a zoo now. At first it was awesome, but with the influx of people asking repetative questions it has gotten old fast. Maybe hopefully (don't count on it) official froyo will help this but I doubt it. Its time to move on, I appreciate all of the supporters of my themes and work I have done for mystery. Best of luck to everyone else, I don't know how the hell you rom devs can tolerate the stupidity of people but props. Oh and one final thought: ACS will continue to receive my work and support, simply because both rob and k0nane appreciate it. So don't think you won't hear from me again, just probably not directly on XDA.

No other forum on this site has even close to the amount of issues that the Epic forum has. It's purely pathetic that people can't help rather than set everyone back constantly. Go read any thread on the Vibrant section; hardly any noobs asking stupid ****ing questions over and over.

I completely agree with you guys in the shambles that the epic forums are and I'm not even a dev. I'm glad you guys will continue to theme and if you move to a new forum or site I would love to be able to be able to get your themes firsthand. I would suggest spj since they have a ton of mods that will issue infractions and bans for not searching and violating forum rules. Thanks for all that you have done for my phone

Not everyone was a noob. Some read the threads and used the search option before they ever posted a thing. I really wish more people would do that and appreciate the sometimes rather difficult problems that the ROM makers go through. They could be making a lot more money in the industry but rather are here helping out the community. That I can never forget and always appreciate.

It's hard to read this and not wonder how you have not already come to understand that all forums have the problems you are citing. This happens every day in any forum you can name on any and every topic possible.
It's sad that you can't separate the vocal minority from the silent majority. Instead you make overreaching general statements about the state of the XDA forums based on your observation of maybe 20 users who whine about updates and are too lazy to search.
Honestly, if you are unable to separate the signal from the noise and your skin is too thin to take a handful of annoying people demanding something from you then we are all probably better off with your departure.

Ive tested 2 builds of aokp so far, from a guy on Twitter. Neither booted. Got a black screen with the batt icon in upper right. Hoping Jared keeps up his work so I can have something that boots but I'm also hoping on some more aokp builds to test.

Its gonna be a while before CM9 comes along...Cyanogen is known to take forever...but with good reason, they are some good Devs. With that said Jared is making some pretty nice progress with his ICS ROM

But the problem is we should not have to wait for CyanogenMod to release CM9. We have several talented and dedicated developers right here working tirelessly around the clock to bring us a stable release, and other don't want to see this happen.
I was waiting myself for CM9 but I got to thinking. Why should I wait, how long will I be waiting, what am I missing out on right now by waiting? With all the question floating around I took the plunge and flashed JTG ICS. Now I only have one question why did I wait so long to flash?
His rom is my daily driver. I do not live in a 4g area, nor will I ever get 4g (main reason I jumped Sprints money hungry ship), so that does not matter to me. Everything else works the way I need it. Its fast, snappy and responsive.
JTG has put a lot of time and care into his rom and for whatever reason the "other powers" that are out there cant look past petty differences and move forward and continue to provide for the community. I mean its not like the Evo is brand new and has every dev crawling hand over fist to dev for this phone. We have lost devs left and right. I for one am grateful for the ones that have stayed. It does not seem like others are as appreciative as me.
Reading back on that last paragraph it seems that the "other powers" are the Steve Jobs of XDA.

Imho there should be No reason to NOT let someone use your work UNLESS your trying to make money off it which last time i checked is against the rules to begin with.

Well tweaking a kernel would mean he would need to comply with GPL himself which I don't remember him ever linking his public git repo for source. Hell on rootzwiki right now he doesn't give it either.
Now its easily found via Google and has the branches there but not linking to it in your OP violates GPL in itself I'm pretty sure.
And I don't get the whole rootzwiki movement some make either. Have fun with less ppl giving you feedback on your stuff. If that's what you want in the end then do private versa and be done with it.

JTG beta 4 is the closet to a fully functioning rom. It has some minor lag at times an a couple of fc here an there but its a solid rom if u don't mind ffc an camcorder not working. Been running it since it was given out to some an its solid. Combine it with a viper mod tweak an its a daily to me. My only issue is that I don't think HA is fully functional, no offense to jared, as I can tell the difference on my girlfriends ics captivate compared to the evo version. It was pointed out when everyone started attacking jared about the gray background vs black in the settings if HA was fully function which I can clearly see on my girls captivate

Like I said...Jared has made great progress with his build of ICS, whether its is built off of someone else's or not, he's made some nice tweaks along with Mazda. I'm using Beta 4 with Mazda's tweaks and this **** is off the chain! I mean fast, stable, no force closes that I can remember and 4.5 is on its way? Jared is the only one I have noticed that actually Updates his ROMs in a timely fashion. Deck is still on alpha 5 while Drew is on preview 6 and been that way a while now. I say go with Jared because he's doing big things out here!!!!

I agree Jared is the real deal.I think its funny that for me haters Rom was the only ice Rom to make it on my phone for more than 30 mins. Hell decks I didn't even make it past signing in

I wiped and did factory reset. Installed. Completed and reboot stuck on cyanogen (mod) screen. Pulled battery and restarted and the same stuck at the same place.

Sounds like you are only testing still. Unless you want a Development thread full of flaming asking for features, source, screenshots, then no, it don't belong there. Not to mention credits for all the devs whose work you used must also be posted. I don't know who you asked but they weren't a mod or they misunderstood you.

He should credit because it is XDA policy and the decent thing to do. It doesn't matter if he has permission or not, failing to credit someone else's work is not looked upon kindly here.

Asking for testers is not a full release. Public Alpha with proper documentation will probably sneak by.

Well in my book he doesn't have to. Really no one should since android is open source but oh well. Ill make a build just for him since this applies. Another reason why I left xda.

Rules are rules, period! If you tell him he doesn't have to pay taxes, should he listen to you, or should he follow the law (rules)? Rules are put here for a reason, if we don't abide by them, this whole site would be much worse off... and fyi nobody cares if you left before, if you can't follow rules, then bye, and don't come back! Thanks!
Edit- if any of that sounded harsh, my bad.... broken ankle and xda don't match, but I did mean what I said, just maybe coulda been a little nicer about it....

You obviously don't know what I put up with over on xda evo shift development. Just sayin. Wasn't being mean in the first place either. I was simply stating its one reason why I left. No fyi is needed either and laws are laws rules are rules there's a difference I wasn't hating on this rule even if I said its one reason why I left. How did I state it mean? Also I don't see other sites worse off. I see a lot of respect. I got a lot of disrespect here and almost every 2 days someone asking for an update or something like " bluetooth still not working going back to cm7 " you know its like people expect so much out of me. That's really why I left. I get it constantly anywhere.
Back to topic, yes this rom is ics no its not sense. It does have working keyboard lights ( at least on my shift ) roaming indicator is broken may be fixed in port don't know and video camera is broken also may be fixed dunno.

Mega, you will find us generally more patient and pleasant than the HTC folk (or any of the other forums for that matter). Just put your known issues in the OP and most people will be fine.

I'm patient too never wasn't with htc. I have a LG Spectrum 4G LTE now and love it. Not going back to htc cause they are just too expensive now when I got the spectrum brand new for 50$. Lol @ the morphine thing and I was more than glad to help. I didn't mean in any way to sound harsh. I mean I love to release stuff and see people enjoy ( fingers going num on evo shift keyboard at this point ). =)

General. That's why Kenny moved it here. And it sounds intriguing, but credits in the OP is not, to my knowledge, optional on XDA. But we've beaten that dead horse.

I bet as long as megaghostgamer is cool with it, its fine, but bfitz26 should when he posts it in dev. Just because it shows where it came from and who gets credit. I know if I help people, its nice to see them credit me. I make sure to credit everyone who helped me (or at least I try to get everyone I remember). If you don't credit people, its technically plagiarism (unless its obvious, like obviously I didn't make htc sense, I just port it from htc devices). People assume if no one is credited, either a: you did it all by yourself or b: you're just taking all the credit.

Hey guys, MBQ here. Just want to suggest something.... if you have an opinion, go ahead and throw it out there, just be respectful and watch your language.
Okay, so I am really getting sick of seeing 'which ROM is the best?' people need to realize it creates jealousy, devs work hard on their ROMs, and when they read these posts/threads and don't see theirs, it typically bothers them. And usually it creates arguments. There needs to be some form of warning system, like, you get 1 warning, and get an infraction or something to provoking arguments. This is just MY opinion though. I'd go more into detail, but I am super limited on time. I'm sure you guys see my point.

I don't see the problem with people genuinely wanting to know what others think the best rom is. There is a lot out there and not everyone has the time and/or desire to test out every rom. A lot of us base our rom choices on what is most popular, I know that is what got me to try out myn warm back in the day. If someone's rom is not mentioned they just need to suck it up, if anything it should motivate them to make theirs even better.

1. XDA is forum for developers, not users.
2. Prove to me that Warm is better than any other sense 1.0 based ROM. You can't. If you try, I will through some garbage linpack or quadrant standard number at you with a screenshot and everyone will piss and moan. It is personal preference, nothing more.

seriously, it takes like 20 minutes to flash a ROM, then another 30 to see if you like the looks and another day if you want to see how it settles in. I've flashed over 5 in a day before while working. It really isn't that difficult to make up your own mind by reading the OP and flashing a ROM suitable for your needs.

Yep. All ROMs are different and will react differently with each phone. I could go tell you guys to run decks reloaded with the mason kernel and undervolt it by 150 because it runs PERFECT on my phone, but then you could come back and complain about how it froze your phone and you had to reflash the ROM. People also use their phone differently. So it's pretty stupid to ask which is the best. THERE IS NO BEST! Why? Because each phone is different, each person uses their phone differently, and each ROM is unique.

Well, it could potentially be misleading. Everyone has an opinion, and has the right to an opinion about ROMs, but something that runs beautifully on one phone could run like crap on another phone, which results in an angry user, which results of potential arguments about what's "the best" which results in anger and devs getting jealous and promoting themselves.

I play music professionally and like customizing my phone. On the forums I frequent dedicated to bass gear there are always threads created by new dudes asking, for example, "what is the best amp". There are literally 100's of options nowadays and only your ears can determine what is "best"
Pretty much the same for roms.

Thank you dude! Plus, the amps will be in all sorts of environments, do you want to buy a half-stack for a 20 foot room? I wouldn't think so, unless you wanted to blow windows and eardrums out! Plus, the sound resonance and mids/highs/lows will all be different, because of different walls, floors, settings, room, etc. I feel you.
