Worked for me. All I did was install an app from the market then uninstalled it. Then went into update android.. and the update was there. I'm on di18 firmware.

I was just about to go to bed, and my newly-exchanged Epic 4G just popped up an update screen asking me to update to DI18.
Sorry if this is duplicate news, but I heard that DI18 was delayed indefinitely, so I guess they're rolling it out now.
Anyone else getting it OTA yet?

Yep, I just got notified on my phone its available.

Did anyone else get their phone un-rooted by the update? After the reboot, I tried launching SetCPU, and got an error message that root wasn't available & it was running in read-only mode.
I'm not sure whether I should be happy that I didn't have to unroot it first to get the update, or furious about an OTA update unrooting what was (I thought) a permanent rooting.

The word "permanent" is used very loosely, so I've learned.
Still nothing here?

I'm rooted and I still don't have the update. I got the D107 right off the bat. I was starting to think I needed to unroot to get it.

Post #3 said they were rooted and they got the update.

I've been getting prompted all morning to update, haven't done it yet though as I am rooted. But yes, it will come to you if you're rooted
Confirmed that the update is rolling out. It's best to go way of manuel update with a rooted phone though.

I updated to the new ji6 from samfirmware and don't have access to some apps like fandango. I have read through several threads. There are some people who received the ota that say they can see and download the missing apps, and other people that received it say they can't. The same is true for people who flashed the update through odin. Although, the problem seems more prevalent with people who flashed the tar file with odin.
Anybody have any idea why this is happening?
No, but I heard that people who are updating thru Kies are not having this problem.
There is a fix on the Market but I can't remember the name of the app at this time :/
Anyone know the name of the market app this fixes this?

Have you tried the "app brain" app?
Appbrain will see them but anytime I tried to install them using the fast web installer it always says download unsuccessful. I am to the point where I download them on my MyTouch 3g and put the apk on my vibrant until it gets sorted out.

So, I just got a text from verizon...
"Free VZW Msg. New Fascinate software SCH-i500.EA28 is available to fix the emergency button on the lock screen. See www.verizonwireless.com/fascinatesupport"
Anyone else get this?

Everybody got it... It's just DL09 repackaged with the emergency call bug fixed.
Opps, I just woke up from a nap and got back in coverage area.. My bad

Yep got it to
Root worked fine on EA28 update
I used the manual ADB root install method. I prefer that over the one click but it worked perfect. I would expect the one click root methods to work fine also on this update since it seems to only be a fix for the emergency dial and maybe a few bug fixes but there is no major update here at all. I loaded back to stock DL09 and let the EA28 update hit and then re rooted and all is well.
So I have been using the scramble 2.2.1 from Rendeiro2005. Very happy with it and will stick with it until there is a good 2.3 mod out.
One weird issue I have been having is that I am unable to update the XDA app that came with the mod. When I go to update it, I get "installation unsuccessful". I tried to just uninstall and reinstall and I am unable to uninstall. With root uninstaller, I get "uninstall unsuccessful".
Not a huge deal, but it is a bit irritating. I looked through the whole thread in the developers forum and didn't see anyone else with this issue. Anyone have any ideas about this?

Ok so I got on a computer and did some searching. I seem to fail at searching the forum from my phone, because I found this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030053
It is odd, because the OP on that thread was having issues with calls and other things because he didn't patch his baseband. I am on 2.1.54 and not having any other issues besides this one. Do I need to do something with the baseband?
you are not able to update XDA app coz its in /system/app folder and not /data/app
as per my understanding
that's becuase it comes packaged with the rom itself.....
BTW any specific reason why you want to update the app...

I checked for an update because it crashed a couple of times and it gets hung up every so often. I uninstalled it with titanium like in the other thread and I am now getting "Incompatible Update" just like that other guy. Now I have nothing.
I made a backup with xrecovery about week ago and I guess i can restore that to get the app back, but I would like to fix this instead. Is there some reference I can remove to be able to install the app in the /data/app folder?
Who else got it?

If you're running the stock ROM (with root), you still have the ability to check-in for OTAs. If you wanted root, why'd you accept the OTA?
If you haven't gotten the update yet, please download aLogcat off the market here. When you get the notification that an update is available, don't accept it yet. Open aLogcat, press Menu, choose Filter, and type "FOTA" without quotes. Find the line that includes "FOTA_UPDATE" and somewhere in the line should be a URL ending in ".zip". Post that URL to either this thread or this one so that we can all download it, then you can accept and install the update.

Just got update prompt this morning and came here to check up on root after update and saw this. Did what you said for aLogcat, all I got is this:
I/CheckinService( 1512): From server: Intent { act=android.server.checkin.FOTA_CANCEL }
Not seeing any URL, am I doing something wrong?
Btw, I have not updated yet.

checkin successful, but I got the same log result:
I/CheckinService( 1512): From server: Intent { act=android.server.checkin.FOTA_CANCEL }
did it twice, both times got the same above results.....
Has the update actually downloaded yet or is it asking to download? If it hasn't downloaded yet, let it start downloading, then look at the log.

Its asking to be downloaded. It seems like I don't have the option to just download only and install later, as I want to keep my phone rooted, that is why I am little hesitant to update.....
I see the problem... The update does indeed block root access. There is a method at this site for downgrading a Gingerbread G2 to Froyo to get root back, but it was written for the previous leak, not this official update. I have no idea if it still works.

Thank you, rather not risk it.
Having said that, my apologizes as I misread (or blind) but it seems the update downloaded itself, as after reading properly the update has been downloaded and verified (73.1 MB). Must had downloaded by itself to begin with as I have been pressing "Install later" or back button ever since notification.
Guess its too late now. Maybe that is why nobody has been able to post link as it download itself and I am guessing when we are fast asleep, as i got this update in the morning.
Let me know if I can do anything to help, as I would really love to have rooted gingerbread on G2
I believe the update is stored in the cache partition of the internal storage. If you have ClockworkMod installed, you can boot into recovery and wipe your cache so that the next time you start up, it should hopefully download the update again.
About the rooted GB: I would hold off on installing the update for now. Once the download link becomes available, somebody will make a rooted version of it.
Btw battery improvement is amazing

What does it check to block? Can I set ro.secure=1 on CM7 and receive the update? Or do I need to be on 2.2 stock?

With Gingerbread update bad battery drain anyone!
If anyone who has the ota update on there phones notice bad battery drain or has it improved.
For anyone who installed the 2.3.4 update, do you have the CRT animation when turning the screen off?
I don't seem to have it. Was looking forward to it.
