Uh, a little bit higher... - Atrix 4G General

Is it just me, or does anybody else find themselves occasionally holding the phone upside down and firmly pressing the speaker grill? I know it's offset, but still unfortunate positioning!

I took my TPU case off and put it back on upside down on accident once and was so confused when I couldn't find my power/lock button...

Guilty

Lol happened a few times

First two weeks I did this, even felt I bent the grill in a little on accident, but now I rarely to never do it since I got so used to where its at now.

Haaaa.. +1 for me... this is too funny thought I was the only one....

Ive done this too haha! Every since I got my case (otter box, the cheaper one) doesn't happen anymore

LOL, and I thought I am the only one who is always pushing the loudspeaker grill.

Knock on wood...Haven't happen to me yet (1 week old)

I had that thought, and when I first got the phone, it happened 90% of the time.
Then I bought a 6 dollar case off ebay, a rubbery-like one. And now the unlock part has a raised bump. Now I never do.

This thread has been amusing lol... glad to hear I'm not the only one who did it. My biggest concern was damaging the thing, but it doesn't seem to be too fragile, fortunately. Like others, I got used to positioning/feel of the actual button so I haven't done it in a while.

Guilty as charged. Ive done it about half a dozen times. Lol at this thread!

Loose Volume Rocker?

Aloha People!
Just got my Fascinate and damn its good! I noticed that my volume rockers makes noises when the phone is shook. I heard it first when I was playing with it and realized it was the rocker. The rocker itself doesn't feel loose but when the I shake the phone I can hear it rattle.
Did I get a lemon? Or is it normal?
Thanks!
I've had mine since launch and it does that. I dunno why but it doesn't bother me I love this thing.

I don't want to if its normal.
I'm not saying its normal. I got mine on launch day at a local store and when I shake it I can hear the rocker but it doesn't actually feel loose so I'm not to worried about it. Its a judgement call man.
they call me...kick ass
Mine rattles. Is it mildly annoying? Yes. Does it in any way want me to exchange my Fascinate for anything else? Heck no!!!
Mine has has the volume rocker rattle since day one. It works fine and doesn't even really feel loose. I bought a silicon case for it and now the volume rocker doesn't rattle anymore.
I'd say it's normal. Drove me nuts at first but the case has solved my issue.
My Vibrant had this issue and it is a manufacture defect. I had it replaced with a fresh new Vibrant.
My girlfriend's fascinate's volume rocker does not rattle. It is a known defect for the Vibrant so maybe it's the same for the Fascinate.
Yeah mine rattled from day one. I'm going to the Verizon store to get a replacement this weekend.

any luck? I found that its the back cover that doesn't sit flush with the volume rocker that causes it to rattle.
I got mine last week and it doesn't rattle.
This is my second android phone since the G1 and I just switched from a blackberry. This phone amazes me everyday
One thing I don't like is that it's hard to select between letters when I want to correct something and I can't select texts from websites and emails.

Well i went to the VZ store. The rep there told me that it is a known thing on the fascinate and is common on all of them. He replaced mine anyways and i noticed it didn't really rattle and it felt like it was on there pretty tight. That was until i started taking the battery cover off. So in other words i think you are right

Mine is extreme opposite. I'm gonna try to get it fixed. NOT playing the refurb game. :/

My button has been recessed since I got it, no problems. It might Depend on which version you have, and what screen you actually have.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Ya know, never noticed that it is recessed... but it sure is. Could probably cut myself if I pressed hard enough but have no need to do so.
It shouldn't be pushed in on either screen. Looking at my DINC (only a week old) its perfectly flush with the screen.

Yep I'm in the same boat. Very nice though and no complaints about mine. Only slightly recessed on the inner circle, otherwise just about flush around the edges.
My trackpad is flush with the screen but I did have a refurb that the trackpad stuck out a little bit. For some reason I kind of liked it out a little more.

I'm not getting any squeaky, quirky or "cracking" sounds on mine, it's very sturdy and tight. Maybe you got a slightly defect one. If it bothers you then you should obviously return it.

+1 - nothing like this on my a500, had it for nearly two months. Trade it in.
Make sure all corners are snapped firmly in place. Like others have said, just return it and get a replacement if there isn't any obvious fixes to your issue.
no creaks, squeaks or otherwise here, as others have posted, if you still have time, exchange it!
Thanks guys, good enough, I gonna replace it even though there is no gap and looks tight but something is wrong cuz every time I press it cracks like something is not snap tight.

I probably did get that one which you have returned. ;-) The same noises in the upper left corner. Unfortunately that is a big pain in the ass to replace something in Poland. BTW it is 530 USD to buy it here. Anyway is the new one free of that cracking sound??
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
I have only seen 3-4 people complain about this so it seems to me that it's a very rare build defect, probably just a bad batch of plastic somewhere? Of course, what I have or haven't seen is just anecdotal evidence, but I'd feel returning it and getting another one should have quite good chances of actually getting one of the good samples

Lol! I thought it was some strange British something I scratched the bugger off with me nicket! hahahahhaha
I did the same with light fluid (paint thinner, fingernail polish remover, anything that has some alcohol) after it started peeling off somewhat. This was several months ago. I do have to warn you about the excessive scratches that appear now. They are quite minor and I have had my G2 since day 1 of its release. And yes... it will may be shiny but it does get fingerprints like the display now.
Mine went off by itself after 10 months of heavy use. i am pretty mercyless with my devices though...

I don't know why this never occurred to me before. I've put my G2 through quite a bit of abuse, so the battery door looked terrible. Looks so much better now. Thanks for the idea!
I can't believe you guys never realized it before. Mine started peeling off a long time ago, so I just scratched off the rest over the course of a few days with my fingernail. "Mod" . . . ummm sorry no.

Hmm interesting. It seems the finish on the door isn't great. Perhaps putting something onto the battery door to make it look better. I'm suprised how the finish isn't that great. After several months of use the finish is coming off.

It is a mod. Your changing the phone from its stock look to something CUSTOM. yea it happened by accident. So what? The nexus s we had a bat door mod where you basically do the same except use sanding paper to give the door a black brushed metal look. Not only that I've only had this phone for 2 weeks.. sorry were not leet enuff for ya to figure this out ages ago AND NOT SHARE IT WITH THE REST OF US! lol some people lol always someone hating for no reason lol :-/

Scratching off something that is already peeling off is "custom"? You go on thinking that, bud.
As to why I didn't come on here and share this knowledge? Well, I thought it was pretty obvious that something that is scratching off (the clear coat) could be . . . . scratched off (TA-DAAAAA!!!!)
Its not stainless steel, anyway. Its aluminum. When I first read the thread title, I thought it was some crazy mod where you made a new battery cover out of stainless steel, or some kind of S/S coating. But . . . its not.
Although, I do appreciate the fact that some folks on here did not realize they could scratch off the deteriorating clear coat. So I agree that this is a useful thread. But I'd use something softer than a nickel (or other metal), to avoid scratching the brushed aluminum while you remove the clear coat.
Most of the material is off my panel door as well, just haven't taken it all off yet. But, it scratches up really bad, so be prepared for it to look pretty beat up after some time. Still though, it looks much better without that finish on there.

[Q] LG G2 back cover creak

Hi all,
I just bought this phone and although I am really satisfied with it, I can't stand the creaking sounds the back cover makes. Anyone else experiencing the same issue? Perhaps any tips on how to solve this?

I have to bend my phone to make the cover creek. If it's the same for you the sollution would be not to bend it. If it makes sounds without bending i think i personally would consider exchanging it for a new one.

It makes sounds by just applying a small amount of pressure on the back, especially on the left side of the back (ie not on the SIM card side). Occasionally it also creeks by just picking the phone up from the table.
i can confirm your experience. same with my d802. doesn't bother me at all.
It sounds like a bad phone you got there.
The G2 is extremly solid compared to other plastic phones. I can't even make it creak if I press hard, or bend (not gonna bend it extremly much, no phone is built for that )
I would recommend exchanging it.

I am not sure which model I have, but the back is not removable (not without special tooling that is).
Anyway, I just had a look at some display models in my store and they were all (3) having this issue. Guess I will just wait for my case to arrive and hopefully that will "solve" the creaking.

Samed thing here ... mainly around the buttons.
I was going to send it back to the store but I guess it's a general issue for which people are more or less sensitive.
Mine doesn't creak (VZW) and I've taken the back off several times.
When I went to Verizon to look at the phone or creaked horribly.
I walked out the store. Bought two and there's no creak at all.
What you guys expect from a plastic phone? I think eventually they all going to creak at one point or another.
