I had the same problem when i first time tried to install miniCM rom .He should try like me:install stock rom ,root phone ,install xRecovery (I`ve installed rom via SE PC Companion)then formating SD card , next put update.zip file to the root of SD card if so did not (just put it into card , not into any folder )and install busybox from market then go to menu choose busybox and when in , install version 1.17.1 , reboot phone and in xRecovery "Install update.zip" section . It worked for me so maybe it work for him
I already done that. And still not working. What can I do?

Try in xRecovery through "install custom.zip" and choose update.zip and try install , I`ve read this on other forum where guy had the same problem that cannot install update.zip through "install update.zip" and he installed it via custom zip section and it worked ,maybe this will help if You don`t tried it yet.
Forgot to mention, already solved.. just needed to format Sd card.. XD
Thanks anyway

Hi there,
Apologies, daft question perhaps...
Can I just 'install from zip' in clockwork to update to 1.7 like I did 1.6, thus retaining all my settings ..? Confused me slightly saying its a restore on the main post..
Link for 1.7
For recovery, restore as backup
Would ask on the thread but havent the correct amount of posts!
Dare say its prudent to make a backup before doing this!

yes first make a backup and yes you can just 'install from zip' the 1.7 version for recovery. if the file name says update.xxxxx bla bla bla then is like an update.zip wich you install from 'install from zip'
Link for 1.8
For recovery (install zip from SD)
I've just tried to update to v1.8 using that method because im not at home so cant do it through fasboot but it says-
Finding update package
Opening update package
Installing update
Installation aborted?
I've done a reboot but phone is now laggy, also I can't now restore my backup as that now says MD5 mismatch...any ideas anyone?

how can i update my clockworkmod have tryed through CWM app which updates it but after reset it goes back to old one have tried wit unrevok wich froz on waiting for root and have tried wit terminal which never worked any othr way.
Download cwm Ingram file, then from your PC use fastboot.executive to flash, or else put image in root of SD and use terminal to flash it. Search the forum you will find both methods. Using rom manager to flash cwm is not permanent method. It just boots into recovery and use the 'update zip like ' file to temporary boot into another recovery. It just make use of cwm files in memory card to boot.

Hello IROC_69
Thanks in advance for the answers.
I did exactly the steps you describe. First I tried with the Froiobread xrecovery gingerdx and then tried to CWM. Both were frozen on the logo. I thought it might be very small memory card. I find no other explanation.
I already did restore everything and everything is operational. My question is to know why I can not install any room with the steps described in the forum
install rom and do full wipe (factory reset) in recovery menu

You have to install CWM recovery to flash GingerDX. Then you have to reboot to CWM and choose Install update ZIP from sd card, find GDX zip file and select it to flash it.

how can i install CWM please sir guide me step by step i will be so thankful to u!
Use this to install CWM recovery and copy custom ROM zip file to sd card. After that reboot your phone and tap screen several times until it goes to CWM. Then go to Install update zip from sd card and find it. Press on it, it will ask you to confirm your choice and after flashing ROM do full wipe. Of course make NAND backup before.
my rom was xginv5.0 before now i sucessfully installed gingerdxv10 it gives me CWM then i try to install gingerdxv19 and its sucess to installed but my problem is from xgin5.0 to gingerdxv10 up to gingerdxv19 the interface of my phone doesnt change just the startup only change what is wrong?

Hi everyone, I know this is on some thread around here already but I'm kinda new here so,
I tried to flash team EOS jb rom + gapps on my Xoom and they weren't found ..
A message appeared saying , error mounting SD card or backup/path not found or something.
My xoom is rooted with stock rom ics, 4.0.4 and at first I tried flashing using rom manager , and no success..the n manually ..the same.
I can't backup current rom neither flash a new one.. I read about reflashing cwm , and I kinda got lost in there..
I moved the .zip files into the internal memory of the Xoom and the same...I got into recovery mode manually and I followed the procedure and again...no .zip
Files found not even on the internal memory.. as I said I tried mounting SD card, mount system and nothing...same error appeared..
So , I really appreciate any advice or tip or whatever helpful... thanks in advanced and sorry for asking something that many already know..have a good day !!

Which recovery are you using ?
Can you still access external sd from recovery?
Sent from my MZ601 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, sounds like you're not using CWM recovery.
Follow the steps to install this, and flash via CWM.
I can't access SD card via recovery , it says error: backup path not found.. and error mounting SD card.
But I can access my external SD card using any file explorer , It appears normally .
Idk but , so when I rooted my Xoom I remember have flashed cwm via adb , cause I had to connect my Xoom to the PC and I remember a .zip file called something cwm , and tiamat ....so , should I go again and reflash cwm zip , and if so , which one should I flash again? cause my Xoom is already rooted and unlocked, wouldn't that damage the system?

You won't loose root. You are using the same fast boot commands to unlock your boot loader and install this recovery IMG...
Then this new recovery, flash eos ROM which is per rooted already...

Thanks Dude. As I told you earlier, I received the notification about the update but it was installed and it sent me to recovery mode saying : installation aborted...thanks I'm gonna flash the cwm img..
