Just out of curiosity, is there a standard or general amount people donate to developers? Is any amount too small? Like, if you were to donate a few dollars, would that be frowned upon, or is literally any amount cool?

No amount is too small and is always appreciated.
Think of it like an app in the market with a free version and a paid version. You try it out for free and really like what you have so you're willing to pay 1-5 bucks for the paid version just because. There is no reason why donations to devs can't also work on the micropayment method.
I was surprised to find people were donating to me... I've had everything from $2 up to $15.... I've personally given from $5-$20 to developers/themers.
I think the general rule is, if you want to donate a penny, you are a good person and it would not be frowned upon.
This is a good question. I've also wondered the same in the past.
I like to think i'm buying the team or person (whoever does that particular release) a 6-pack ($6-$8). Then i go buy me a 6-pack and i flash away!

Everyone on xda, especially devs, are cry babies and act like high school girls. I love what the devs do but don't know why they get butt hurt so easily. All he did was make roms, regardless if he copied them or not he gave credit.
And at the end of the day its just a cell phone... Definitely not worth getting worked up over.

Why is there always some drama on xda? raffy also got banned too, wonder if for the same reason?

But do you know what happen to them? Their stuff was here and vanished in thin air. I remember stuff like this with KingKlick having similar issues.
I have talked with MIUI US and they say that the only reason they aren't working on MIUI for the Atrix is that they dont have the device.
I would like to either:
A.) Start a fund to purchase an atrix for MIUI US.
OR
B.) Donate them an atrix from someone.
If you would like to help get MIUI on the atrix let me know. I would really like to see it ported to the atrix.
I'd rather have cm7, but I hope you guys get miui a device (simply to attract more people to the atrix)

Yeah. I'd recommend not bothering until CyanogenMod is available first. Considering MIUI is loosely based on CM, they're not going to budge until that's ported and working.
what about the atrix we all donated for finding a way to unlock it. Now that we have a way.

Yep agree, how about requesting tenfar to send the atrix that was donated to him for unlocking the bootloader over to these devs and requesting it back when they are done.

That is a possibility... wonder what Tenfar would think about it since he hasn't been very active lately
Once a phone is donated, it is that persons property, you can't just ask them to send it somewhere else.
Anyways, MIUI NEEDS CM7 in order to run. There is no such thing as a phone that has MIUI but not CM7, because it's not possible. Once we have a working CM7, I'm sure they MIUI team would be happy to pick this up and then receive donations after the DEV is done. Which is the right thing to do. Let's not go throwing donations at people that haven't done work yet, please. This has been a problem many times in the past

I prefer to support his voluntary effort to get it done than dangle a carrot in his face. Even if he doesn't eventually get root for the EVO, his work has earned him a couple meals at Hooters on me.

It is made out to be much better than what people like me who've finished it will tell you, but yes if you are not good with mathamatics(that would be me) it is quite difficult. I had to go for before/after school tutoring just for that class. Passed it with a B though.

Jamie was always an all-around good guy in my book. Heck of a developer, to boot. He gave us one of the best AOSP ROM's for the OG EVO, and his Pac Man ROM for the EVO LTE was very popular, also. I hate all that's gone on lately. Jamie, best of luck to you.

in fact he could only have meant that post since that's the only post jamie has made on xda since the flurry of posting activity that irritated the xda people in the first place.
hardly what i would call posting "regularly", especially since he explicitly says it's his last post ever on xda unless some site administrators explain their response.
i don't really have a dog in that fight. i just liked the way reloaded runs on my phone and appreciate jamie's dedication in making that happen. if more ROMs come, i'll flash them. if i have to find them on twitter, i'll find them. for now i wish him well, even if i expect he isn't going away for long.

XDA does seem to over-react sometimes,but you need to figure that we have alot of easily influenzed minds here in XDA(kids)we're their piers and XDA is just trying to hold some order in here,it keeps people from *****in and complaining soo much,noone wants to come to a forum where all there is,is flamming and griping about this and that,yea some or most bans,could have been handled different,but we dont own this forum,we just reside here temporarily,you should know this,Hip.

XDA does seem to over-react sometimes,but you need to figure that we have alot of easily influenzed minds here in XDA(kids)we're their piers and XDA is just trying to hold some order in here,it keeps people from *****in and complaining soo much,noone wants to come to a forum where all there is,is flamming and griping about this and that,yea some or most bans,could have been handled different,but we dont own this forum,we just reside here temporarily,you should know this,Hip.

Yeah yeah, no doubt!
I dunno why the link didn't work, but if you look at his profile, and click on statistics and then posts, you can see he's still posting and not banned. If anything, it's Rope that's banned, not Jamie

It looks more like the decision was Jamie's to leave XDA, not the mods. It has happened several times before where the Dev's asked the Mods to close their threads because of the drama that goes on in them. If he were banned, his account would be frozen and his threads would all be closed.

Thank you kendall. I think jrollercoasters started this for everyone to say positive things about Jamie's contributions to us and our device, not speculate on what happened. Let's all just give him thanks we think he may deserve as I believe that is what this thread was intended for.
If you want to know what happened, ask the man.
